You have to remember that India is easily one of the best civs for Ports to do something like this against. The tempo advantage from a 10/10 looks far less powerful when you're facing a civ that ages up before 4:45, i.e. every euro civ.
For your video if AOE is worth it in 2021: as someone who bought the game about two months ago after never having played any AOE game i'd say its definitely worth it. Yes there are bugs but its such an amazing game with so much replayability.
I second that! I played the original back in 2005/2006, but mostly campaign and skirmishes. Having bought it a month ago I can absolutely recommend it.
lol units getting stuck in TPs have been core part of AOE3 identity since the original. From losing games because your Age 3 falconet ship gets stuck in the comache village in the middle of the map, to rage quitting campaigns because the hero unit gets stuck, can't be ransomed, and is required to trigger the next part of the scenario.
Nah it's way worse in DE, in legacy the native towns could sometimes cause issues, but not the trade line tps, that is pure DE bs. Lost so many games because of it.
Aussie I think the explorer walked into the TP because it caught LOS of the Indian explorer. It triggered aggro towards it and walked in a straight line to get in range, and got stuck in there lmao. Maybe?
this is the nicest thing in this game, free decks, a lot of possibilities, not exists the only and better way to play a civ, you discover along the way what may or may not be viable
When you order your explorer to build an trade post, that little queue flag pops on it. I've had some issues where when I queued some other actions after the building order he would just touch the tp and leave before building it. The explorer's AI is likely bugged and he decided to walk into the building, just like settlers do sometimes when you finish an outpost
Pretty sure Age of Empires 3 the OG had the issue of trading posts swallowing units that built them, it's still a shame to see that still persists, but I definitely do like the definitive edition for a few reasons, probably just nastalgia.
It didn't had the issue back then in 2005. Played alot 2v2 matches back then and over 50k strelets built. But never had a unit stuck inside a tp in about 1000 games.
@@FuryFlensburg ah yeah I kept my copy from being updated so I always had a 1.0 version of the game (not by choice I just didn't know how to cause I was that young lol) and they'd get stuck in a ton of things, the worse was settlers and plantations and mills, it would be inevitable that they'd get stuck in them either during the construction, or just sometime when you weren't looking. And they'd have to either the killed or freed, I'd even gotten settlers stuck inside town halls when they were released, so it's not a new issue, it's a rather old one, they fixed it in the old one surprisingly, but it appears it's shown up again I guess
I play Incas by myself, but think it is too early. Drongo will have to change his guide once they are balanced. The are too overpowered for supremacy games and about right for treaty games. I currently find it easy to crush the hardest AI with this civ while I can't with the others.
@@TotalWarChronicles There are so many ways to do Inca except for turtling until everyone else has the walls up. The variety is there. I think their energy should be spent diversifying the existing European civs. If I were to ask for something from Drongo, I would ask for how to handle the late game. It is hard to take offensive once the defenses are sound.
Was unaware of trading post bug. Got 2 of my starting settlers caught in one while trying to pull the starting herd in... Lost me the game before I even had a chance
Drong: You have a special line of communication with the developers. Do they even know why the trade posts are bugged. For 5 months? they have been claiming to have a fix, but I only see marginal improvement. I won't go multiplayer again until I see a solution for most of these cases. It happens to me 1/3 games on certain maps.
Does anyone remember playing the demo of AOE3 (when they did demos) and was like yack! Instantly. Never looked at it again and continued to play AOE2 hahaha???
Not me, though. when I was a kid, the demos is what I've been playing for a year straight. Switching between the vanilla, warchiefs, and the asian dynasties everytime I want to play a different civ lol
Honestly, I don't feel like ports are strong at all. This strategy worked well on this 5 tp map sure, but they're really weak. And as much as we joke about cassadores, they do suck

They're one of the most powerful civs in Aoe2 as well. Top pick in water maps right now.
MBL has to love this build. Housed in age 1 for 37 seconds with idle TC and it doesn't matter.

The TP trap seems like a collision bug. Just after it is created it doesn't collide and when it does, you are trapped
Saw it on Haitch's stream, brutal

How? Was the barracks right beside and marked into it?
Other nations: We are securing this land, sending soldiers, building massive forts state of art engeenering.
Portuguese: we... will send settlers.

love vids like this drongo
I have seen this 4 times today and the Port got rolled 3 of the 4 times. People need to practice before trying these out in ranked.
Aussie will AOE4 have the Portuguese aswell?
Would choosing house of birachia worth it with this build?
The other day I had 7 vils stuck in a TP, still managed to win though :P

What if you just Fast Fortress against this, Age 2 Port can‘t really do much against Artillery right?
Thanks for sharing so they can nerf this shit into the ground :)
Are Ports nice in maps not that TP heavy? I do like playing them but dont consider thaaat good
portugal couldve gg the game by attacking the villager building wonder near the middle early
Epic video
Have they fixed the TP unit trap bug yet?
Has anybody else had petards not explode? They just die? I've had that happen a lot lately
right click the building, dont shift click them. if you shift click them (ground first then building), they delete
@@Don_Artie well that is very dumb, but thank you, that's good to know
They need to fix units getting stuck in the TP. I'm getting really sick of it
Ports good on land? Are we in the age of aircraft already?
Ports have always been good on land.
They are overrated on water because of the discoveries and underrated on land because they had very small armies.
