Some of the best gaming guides I've ever watched, period. You really have a talent with guides. The little extra effort in post-editing adds a lot too.
Wanted to add a second comment to this video. Thanks to this build and your explanation I finally made it to conq ! It was a good add up to your previous early feudal rush build with the Byzantine that I really liked. So thanks again and please continue your work !
It seems to me that this guide is more informative than that of Beasty. I like the way you save time and give the newcomers a closer look at the situation, thank you!
Happy to see another Byzantine build order. lots of flexible ways to play this civ. Also mentioning the moment in the game where you had 3 options; barracks, mercenaries, & towers. Is hugely appreciated
I like that these build order guides go into the rest of the game, too, to see how they affect the mid and long game. Curious what "bad build orders guides" would look like in this format, where bad decisions result in unclear consequences
Love your guides. Small request tho, can you go a little bit into details like when to NOT go for a build order? Like against certain civ, or when you scout something specific? I understand it's impossible to talk about all scenarios against all 16 civs, but just some big pointers? For instance, I imagine this build will straight up die to English longbow rush?
english go for abby of memes these days aswell which if u scout u just go barracks if he goes longbows u build and uprgrade the tower on your gold until you get your jawelin throwers out cuz they coumter english, u just play safe as possible and if u can go castle do it if not go mass archers+ jawelins, fight a bit and then castle up
A great video, I've been using demus mix mostly with the camel buffing for infantry plus javelins. But thinking I may go back to LBs. The early farm transition is nice too.
I think it would be helpful to players who don't know that you can boost a maximum of 28 farms with the Winery. The pattern is as follows: 12 on the first ring around the winery (touching it), and then a further 16 on the second ring surrounding the winery. You can't boost the second rings corners (or it would be 32 farms). So, if you look at 7:14 where the cistern touching the TC is that's a 2nd row corner for the winery - hopefully that give a visual example of where the boost radius ends. I mainly mention it because if you look at 18:25 you can see a mill placed where a boosted olive farm could have been. Newer players in my experience seem to be easily confused on what optimal farm placement for landmarks like winery and Aachen are as the circles radius is deceptive.
@@steelcommander9918 It doesn't matter. The villagers don't ever enter the buff range if the farms are placed there. Which means you can only have a maximum of 28 farms buffed at a time; and given the mills placement it blocks one of those spots. On top of that they don't add the oil when they drop it off, the buff is applied while they are gathering from the farm. extra oil is provided for each food gathered when it is gathered, not when it's dropped off. It's not like the Chinese supervision effect that grants a bonus on drop off.
@@steelcommander9918 Try testing it my dude. Watch as they gather and how much. I've tested it for myself and both times they didn't - and if they did it's so short lived it won't last long enough to work properly.
If someone goes fast castle, then play it like here. If your enemy is very passive and you've scouted minimal or no units, then you can also harass with longbows around his age up. :)
Great guide as always. One thing that is hard to understand is that all pro / hight level players usually don't all in, but in lower leagues they do and I find it hard to use strategies like this. Mainly in team games (2x2). Would this hold some one all in?
Very nice build but why not rush max water ?? The stone is not even that expensive maybe that would help this build as an adjustment also one more thing maybe at the start chop 10 wood for one early olive crop to be able to turtle some food supply
This build specifically does not really utilise siege (although that is of course doable). If you go for ghulams, then yes, you can build siege, but you probably have level 4 on your cisterns so a workshop produces at almost twice the speed, which is what I've been doing
Gathering stone for cisterns early is like making farms early with English. It’s good when it’s setup, but the timing and pace of the setup can make or break a strategy.
isnt it pretty easy to spend 50 wood/food to drop on the stone mine to get 4 cisterns quicker? its REALLY easy to get three in feudal and your overall resource shows that.
Hi im new to AOE4 and when you say you gather the relics where do you put them to? And why only gather on castle age. Sorry if the question seems dumb.
Relics can only be picked up in castle age. You can put them in your church or grand winery. It gives you passive gold for ever relic you store. In the imperial age, you can upgrade and they will provide more passive income
@valdemar - would varagian guards and longbow composition work against japanese castle comp? I keep getting wrecked as byz by samurai oni mounted samurai in castle
@@Valdemar1902 Okay so if the enemy is boomy ( china /HRE) it might be better to go fast castle winery, correct? Thanks for the tips great video btw like usual

I love his guide but beasty guide felt more up my ally and Iam a gold noob
I feel the same. Beasty do it on the go. It seems that valdemar prepare them more and his style is better to teach.

Going to go ahead and appreciate the content before finishing the video, your guides are always great!
You have a very clear way of articulating, your guides are easy to follow. Also nice that there was a clear structure to the video. Thank you!
Thanks!
Never stop making guides, you have a gift!
+1 on quality of these videos - very eloquent and informative and edited very well. ty!

The buff lingers, so when bill drop off at that mill they get the buff

Great guide
Vlad! You the man!
Exactly what I need!
Amazing vid! Thanks man 👌
I think that fastcastle build will give me alot of stress, gg.
THANK U FOR THISSS
Played aoe since beginning and I just learn that longbows have better vision than "classical" archer thank
Thanks for the video... please analyze your games from the Elite Classic II and maybe explain what went wrong, it would be great...
am ur 10k sub congrats
Valdemar love your vids man, can you do a english guide using the new king from the latest update
Which civs are good matchups for Byzantines to win? Also, how would you deal with someone who is going fast castle?

Any incoming guide for the imperial hippodrome?

That depends on how good you are at defending :)
Very nice build but why not rush max water ?? The stone is not even that expensive maybe that would help this build as an adjustment also one more thing maybe at the start chop 10 wood for one early olive crop to be able to turtle some food supply
It slows you down a lot. I don’t like farm opener or fast cisterns openers overall as they only serve a purpose in niche situations
Cheers bro, love the Byzantines, only just realised byzantines ghulams can make mangos. Worth trying a build that utilises that?
This build specifically does not really utilise siege (although that is of course doable). If you go for ghulams, then yes, you can build siege, but you probably have level 4 on your cisterns so a workshop produces at almost twice the speed, which is what I've been doing
Been trying to get better with the Byzantines but i always struggle with surviving the early game
Hopefully this guide helps you out!
What do you think about faye's 3 cistern open?

Is there any efficient way to defend England longbow rush?

is only native byz units strategy viable or one has always to go with mercs?
There would be no reason to play byz, if you weren’t going for oil units
thanks
@valdemar - would varagian guards and longbow composition work against japanese castle comp? I keep getting wrecked as byz by samurai oni mounted samurai in castle
Against cavalry you need Limitanei :)
Any idea for hre building order after new patch?
For Barracks to be buffed they must be inside of cistern square not circle 😉
please upload a rus feudal singel TC build order
Those byz catas need some discount or some kind of buff. They are good but not normal charge is not good…..
Could you do another japanese guide for season 7? :D
Will you do a Japanese one?
I got loads cooking atm!
Let him cook! :D
Has this changed any?
I wouldn’t say so
I thought this season was all about hippo fast longbows
castle builds are more reliable imo
It is a good alternative build vs Rush civs and necessary vs English Longbow Rush
