- "It's Not Unusual" is a song written by Les Reed and Gordon Mills, first recorded by a then-unknown Tom Jones, after it had first been offered to Sandie Shaw. He intended it as a demo for her, but when she heard it she was so impressed with his delivery that she recommended he sing it instead.
The record was the second Jones single Decca released, reaching No. 1 on the UK Singles Chart in 1965. It was his first hit in the United States, peaking at No. 10 in May of that year. It was released in the US by Parrot Records and reached No. 3 on Billboard's easy listening chart. The song was first aired on pirate radio in the UK, as the BBC rejected it because of Jones' sexual image. In the US, Jones performed the song on three occasions on the The Ed Sullivan Show.
Lyrics:
It's not unusual to be loved by anyone
It's not unusual to have fun with anyone
But when I see you hanging about with anyone
It's not unusual to see me cry
I wanna die
It's not unusual to go out at any time
But when I see you out and about it's such a crime
If you should ever wanna be loved by anyone
It's not unusual
It happens every day
No matter what you say
You'll find it happens all the time
Love will never do what you want it to
Why can't this crazy love be mine?
It's not unusual to be mad with anyone
It's not unusual to be sad with anyone
But if I ever find that you've changed at any time
It's not unusual to find out I'm in love with you
Whoa-whoa, oh, oh, oh, oh
Whoa-whoa, oh-ohh
Whoa-whoa, oh-oh-oh-oh, whoa
Whoa-whoa, whoa-whoa
Jaunty and bright joyful. My ma and pa had this song 🙂
Well here we go again....spinning up yet another classic and sending me back into another head full of past romps, memories and what nots that I love to reminisce in! I'm losing track also on the amount of bass guitars I'm seeing? Or am I seeing many? LOL....Hi Sheba girl also...I see you little girl!
Thanks Rog... Right now I have 6 basses that I cycle through.
@justinandsheba 6 alright, well I'm learning through you how to appreciate bass notes but I don't play though k. Again you always tweak my ear with all your choices of tunes... it's a nice moment when I see you these days thanks for that!
Nice one brother! A truly classic oldie! Very cool song, and great cover bro. Sounds great
Thanks man
Well played man, sounds great, interesting channel, subbed, great work!
Thank you...I appreciate it!
By the way, the brief guitar solo is played by one young James Patrick Paige.
Good job!
Thank you! Cheers!
