    If you turn off adaptive sync and set the motion rate to either extreme or extreme ULMB than turn back on adaptive sync it will apply with adaptive sync. I run Extreme with adaptive sync on, makes motion blur non existent. Great vid 👍🏻.

    Next time you get tearing in a pc game with a 120 or 144hz monitor try disabling vsync in game and enabling vsync in the windows nvidia settings for the particular game. Fixed it for me in every game I had the issue with.

    • @BainCustom
      @BainCustom  2 роки тому +11

      Agreed! I made that mistake early on and had terrible motion in game. So yes absolutely make sure that vsync is off and gsync is on.
      Thanks for the input there 👊

    • @Scarunov
      @Scarunov 2 роки тому +7

      @@BainCustom I think you misread. To get g sync to fully work, you have to turn V sync ON in nvidia control panel and off in game. If you do not do this, the g sync performance will be less smooth and you'll get some form off smearing along the lower edge of the screen. G sync is designed to work together with v sync. Only not the ingame one.

    I initally got the M28U and the first thing that made me regret my decision was that the whites were really yellowish. I immediately sold the M28U and got the Samsung G70A and absolutely loved it. It's 50nits brighter, white looks like white and there's no issue of the screen being black for a long time when you turn off M28U in NVIDIA Control Panel to use another monitor.

    Just managed to get a used one from Amazon for €580. The list of defects only listed minor stuff on the back. Surprisingly, the back was actually fine and so was the screen, until I found a red stuck pixel right in the middle of it. Tried everything I could but it didn't fix it. Having to return it with a pain in my heart because I know it won't be until Q1 2022 that'll be able to get another one.

    There is a new subscriber, who liked a lot your comments and your way of testing things. I was watching your videos and after seeing some similar situation in the comments recently (saddam guy), I bought this device today. What I would love to ask is, do you have any suggestions for the first things to do with this monitor or any monitor. I checked the firmware update but it is odd because Samsung website currently providing the 1004 firmware, but mine is 1006. :O I checked some dead pixel tests on UA-cam. Could you please point out some necessary stuff that I need to double-check or ensure when someone buy a 4K 144Hz monitor like this? Thank you very much in advance and I felt that I am lucky after spending time with lots of videos but then found your channel.

    • @BainCustom
      @BainCustom  2 роки тому +1

      You bring up a really good question. I'm glad you are finding some good info on the channel, hopefully I can provide a bit more for you.
      -First thing is definitely any software or drivers updates available.
      -Next is that Eizo test, look for dead pixels and good uniformity.
      -Then I would calibrate using the windows calibration tool and clear type calibration after as well.
      -Then pull up your favorite game and calibrate a bit more for color and black level performance.
      -After that, make sure gsync or FreeSync is updated and functioning. Nvidia has a thing called Nvidia Tech Demos that helps test functionality of their technologies.
      -On top of that I would try to find ways to stress test (high frame games, high fidelity, etc.)
      -I'll be making a video soon on this topic and when I do, I will add more testing methods and things to do. But I think this list is a good start.

    You’ve convinced me I’m pulling the trigger it’s on sale at Best Buy for $599. Question. If I want to also use this monitor for work and would like to also add a second monitor for when I’m working what would be a good pairing? Thinking it would be overkill and overly expensive to have 2 of these guys when only one is needed to game

    • @BainCustom
      @BainCustom  2 роки тому

      That is a fantastic question. I personally use a BenQ 1080p monitor to the left of this one. As long as the Samsung is up to date, there should be no issue there in pairing whatever monitor you find suits your needs.
      I will know however, due to scaling issues with Windows, a 1440p or 4k monitor will give a much smoother transition in between monitors than a 1080p monitor will.

    Hey, excellent review ! We (older son and I) can't get the M28U in this area (Minneapolis), so we were going to go with the Asus VG28UQL1A for hi Christmas gift... until I saw this Samsung, which is also available locally. Our specific requirements are: HDMI 2.1 for eventual PS5 compatibility; G-Sync for a new NVidia card, when the prices and availability settle down; and good dynamics for FPS games. You've done a great comparison against the M28U (thank you!) but how does this compare to the Asus? I hear the Asus is slightly better in terms of HDMI 2.1 bandwidth for PS5 work, though in several other areas the M28U is better. Have you done / will you do a Samsung Asus VG28U comparison ?? Many thanks again for fascinating reviews!

    • @BainCustom

      First off, that sounds like an awesome future setup! I really hope I get the opportunity to compare the two, they definitely are pretty close on paper. I have also heard of the issues this Samsung faces with the PS5 and wonder if the Asus might be better. Not having a PS5 myself (supply issues), I have not been able to test that portion out. I will say this beats out the M28U, it just has that edge in gaming that I really enjoy. The color is noticeably better and more accurate too.
      I do have a comparison video lined up between the M28U and this Samsung, so hopefully that will answer a few more questions. Good luck and Good Gaming!

    Nice review 😊I have a specific question for you and I hope you can help me.
    Recently I bought this monitor and was very disappointed by the image quality on my PS5. It simply looks very unsharp compared to my previous 4K 60hz LG monitor - night and day difference, like an oil painting.
    After a lot of messing around I found out that the brightness, contrast and especially sharpness settings (0-100) do absolutely nothing. There is literally zero difference between 0 and 100 sharpness (as well as the other two which are a little less significant).
    Have you noticed the same thing? If not, what setting from A to Z are you using?
    You could be my life saver! Tnx in advance

    I bought the G70A in May 2022 for my Series X and it's been great ... but 4 days ago it became very much NOT great. It just sits there now with a black screen and nothing but the little blue led on the underside edge at the front by the power/toggle button gives any indication that it is receiving power. I have tried everything and this monitor just refuses to wake up now ... and looking around the internet I am far from alone. The G7 range at least seems to have some real issues with intermittent and permanent black screen and I have even seen similar issues now with some G8 models.
    It's officially out of warranty now so I guess realistically I'm looking at paying for a repair or another monitor ... at this point I'm probably looking at the Dell G3223Q. At least it has a 3 year warranty. £586 for 16 months use isn't great is it ... I think Samsung must be losing quite a few customers as a result of this. I doubt that I'll buy one of their monitors again tbh. So folks my advice would be do your research and avoid this monitor ... there are just too many out there it appears who will not see their 2nd. birthday :(

    Around the 19 minute mark in your video you mentioned that using controller over HDMI 2.1 was "spongy" and you felt more input lag. Have you continued to notice this while using controller over HDMI 2.1 in other games as well? I am using a series X and mainly play Warzone and Vanguard. Your reviews have been great and I ended up buying the LG27gp83, M28U, and the G70a. I have been doing my own comparisons between the monitors to try to figure out which one I am going to keep. I still have the M28u in the box, haven't opened it yet. Things I have noticed with the other two monitors.... The LGgp83 has a great picture, feels fast and I like the colors. The G70a renders more of the map with better long range detail in Warzone and the contrast/black equalizer is better, allowing you to see slightly more in the trees and bushes. Further analysis from you on the spongy/more input lag over HDMI 2.1 with controller would be appreciated. Thank you!

    • @BainCustom
      @BainCustom  2 роки тому

      wow. Yeah those are some great monitors for sure. Definitely well worth the investment to find the right one. I will be fair and say that I haven't really tested the other monitors with K&M/Controller like I did the Samsung. But it was also the first that I tested out hdmi 2.1 gameplay on a graphics card.
      If I had to explain the HDMI 2.1 delay, it is exactly that. I noticed a massive uptick in input lag and overall response of the key/button presses through display port. The low input lag was on, it was on a PC, yet as soon as I switched from HDMI to Display Port it was a noticeable difference in response time.
