Saw them last night, they were absolutely incredible and tight. Only about 30-40 in attendance. It made me so sad. Vin is every much as good as Vedder, Corbin, etc. Sponge never got the recognition they deserved.
Few bands make me truly homesick for the 90s. Sponge is one of them. And Rotting Pinata is one of the most underrated albums ever. Every song on that album is awesome and is one of only a handful that I can listen to straight through. Damn, what I wouldn't do to go back then one more time.
Insect Overlord I feel the same way every damn day. It's hard to accept getting older and watching the world and everything change around you. I'm almost 36.
Me too brother. I'd love to go back. I'd be gone in an instant if given the chance. I heard these guys on the ride home from work today. I was back there for a moment. It was a bittersweet sample. It'll have to do I guess.
Damn...Dude looking like a GenX version of Psy Furs Richard Butler...love it...This song, pulling the heart strings as much as Butler's early-80's anthem "Love My Way"...This song, now mid-90's, in a friend's grandmother's SoCal apartment I rented a room with him from, both of us smoking cigs, working nowhere jobs, talking the finer points of Husserl's phenomenology, while I secretly pined after his beautiful sister from up in Oregon, this song puncturing an entire set of evenings, dreaming, dreaming...
Kay Hanley's style and look in this video encapsulate every hot '90s girl I fell for in high school. Wonder if my wife still has that red sweater like that one.
Anna Regina Crame Fernandez mine too Anna, howdy from your home down here in Dallas Texas USA baby, fuck Isis and fuck Nazi scumbag trash......raza por Vida!!!
i'm from michigan, and their from detroitseen them in concert twice for free in the 90's late 2000's he is really skinny..idk why smoke too much crack, hahah j/k i dunno but i love thieir music!! i miss 9o's music
Sponge's "Molly" is probably the earliest instance I can remember where the 90s (and forward) decided it was cool to reference the 80s...which, itself, is cool. I'd even argue that Sponge is sort of a proto-vaporwave pioneer in this case: The gap between semi-late Cure and this is dangerously close...to the point you wonder if Sponge was late or early. I believe in the latter; It seems too deliberate, especially given the overt title/theme. Anyway...love this song.
Thank you for posting video!!! I really love this song and never got a chance to see them play this song or any of it. I am getting goosebumps just watching this :)
Just seen them 2 weeks ago woodhaven mi uncle sam jam along with everclear. Was right in front of stage. I must say that both bands are very tight with current lineups. Vinny and art from everclear both still killing it on vocals.
I was fortunate to grow up in the 80s and music then was the best,sponge,16 candles brings back the good days, and I won't ever get tired of that song!sponge was one of the best!!all time in my book!!
@IDCKingTroll I completely agree with you!!! 90's pop music like this was so f*#king awesome! If you don't already have it, get the Empire Records soundtrack! Every song on it is great, and nowadays it's hard to find an album you can listen to all the way thru!
Nah. I actually remember this because I had to stuff a towel under my door so my parents wouldn't know I was up that late. The other segments ran long, they jumped right into the song, and the show ended. As you can hear, the audience loved it. Sure Conan did too. How could he not?

Friends if the same age : when you try and go forward - you automatically get a prescription shot of the past. $$$ when you do it right.
I agree. Simpler times, with great music!

Wow! That backup singer is cute! I like her style too!
Awesome live cover! Only original member left is Vinnie Dombrowski (lead singer). Damn, 90s music rocked!

Holly shit I forgot about this song. Ah I miss those days.
I love sponge and letters to cleo,This vid is gold
A great song and an excellent live performance and unusually good video and audio quality for UA-cam!
Nothing to do with UA-cam, it's how I recorded it back in the day🤔
The live micing is nicely done and provides for an identical replication of the studio's creation...I'm already drunk and stoned lol!
Kay Hanley is hottie🔥🔥 I love youuu!
No way! That’s Kay Hanley! That’s so cool!
This is what famous bands on tv used to look like kids....
Right..
More important, they actually played instruments and sang without help. For better or worse, it was actual music.
Famous might be overstating it.
They were not that famous. I avoided them at Lollapalooza that year. Post Nirvana rock music took a pop turn for the worst.
I'm gonna get drunk and stoned now!

Better than Taylor Swift singing about boy #4559 rejecting her.
@@stanmarsh8470 Taylor Swift isn't the only musician active right now

Not asking why?
Backing vocals is an extra normal groovy chick. He's hittin that shit. Well, maybe he's hittin the bass player. lol
Curious what other bands make you homesick? Are there any post 90 bands that you recommend.
Neurotic Outsiders KICK ASS. You will not regret it. Here on YT.
Did Conan hate them or something? Every other performance I have seen on his show he gets up to thank the band.
Nah. I actually remember this because I had to stuff a towel under my door so my parents wouldn't know I was up that late. The other segments ran long, they jumped right into the song, and the show ended. As you can hear, the audience loved it. Sure Conan did too. How could he not?

How hard is to see they're trans.
Learn the symbolism.
Explain?
Vinnie is a man. My sister dated Vinnie about a year before rotting pinata was released. They used to play a bar in Michigan called the wheat and Rye.
@@kaveh-w- Nice try. Shill. You're 'sister'. Lol. Kaveh=47 Anime with a mask. You're part of the club. Inverted yourself.
