Imagine being a highly trained US marine outfitted with automatic weapons and top of the line body Armor and then losing to some rent-a-cop with a handgun.
Why would a super secret science research base in half life lore use random rent-a-cops instead of actual top of the line battle hardened veterans like USA does already in real life? (Check out DOE security forces)
Judging by the fact they're tasked with guarding the most secretive government facility in the country, maybe even the world, the guards are probably the best trained veteran soldiers who can be trusted to guard such a place.
@@SirMatthew and if we consider opposing force, then some marines came fresh from bootcamp, like Shephard did, didn't stand a chance, unless 'nades ofc.

i think the guards shoot with 100% accuracy
Not 100% but 3% spread. Hgrunt smg has 10% spread while shotgun has 15% spread

@@Omabatfartsbruh damage falloff present in cs 1.6. Its just not needed in half life. And oh, barney never reloads

the security guards actually have some kind of a armor system, if you shoot them in the helmet it will absorb most of the damage

I was waiting for this video! Thanks! I did not know that the security guards would be stronger than the grunts (without grenades). It was a surprise.
Pistol use the same ammo as the SMG, but it does twice the damage per shot (I think) and is much more accurate. I only use the SMG for the grenades and switch to pistol if I want to use that ammo.
@@KamiKaZantA I agree. Pistol is really more accurate than SMG.
The SMG does 5 damage per bullet, from the pistol's 8. However, in the hands of black Mesa security guards the pistol may as well be programmed to be hitscan which gives it a substantial advantage over the rapid fire inaccuracy of the SMG. The guards probably would lose if the SMGs were o ly half the distance, as a grater volume of bullets from the SMG would be hitting each individual guard, but at anything longer than short range, the security guard will tear the military a new one unless they've got SMG grenades
@@THEGRUMPTRUCK Figured it was something along those lines in terms of damage. Basically they are a firing squad at that distance.
@@KamiKaZantA Pretty much. Even on higher difficulties, I use the pistol for linger range accurate fire before hosing down anyone who gets closer with the SMG. It works surprisingly well at sa ING ammunition.

This certianly explains why the police enemies in They Hunter were so hard to fight
Not only they are accurate, they also receive 0 dmg on helmet and half damage on kevlar part

Those smg nades were so funny. The guards all stop shooting and just accept their fate and then all drop at the same time…only to be fucking gibbed a few seconds later
They actually trying to find cover. If the map has some good cover they will go there

The Grunts got so angry at losing to the Guards that they gibbed even the already-dead ones when they had the Grenade Launchers.

Hgrunts are not built for direct battles. They are sneaky bastards that work the best in maps with a lot of corners. Barney can actually evade the grenades if you put enough crates for cover and info_node in the map
1:06 The marines have 80 health compared to the security guards' 35, but their damage is only increased to 5 per bullet on Hard difficulty while pistols (and shotguns) do 8 damage per bullet on Hard difficulty..
This feels like Blue shift fans vs Opposing Force fans for some reason
I loaded up the video expecting Security Guards to be demolished at every match-up.
First match-up, they wreck HECU.
Hell, it seems like without explosives, HECU are just no match for the humble Security bois.
Hecu wins at close range and remember, security guards never reload
soldiers have grenades and grenade launchers, it is normal for them to use these equipments.
No wonder they only give the guard a pistol
Long story short: Marines sucks so hard unless they got explosives
And they got a lot of explosives
Dang. That Barney's one tough customer.

Stupid marines... they were supposed to defeat those guards...
They never reload the pistols.
They shoot with 100 percent accuracy.
They have more health.
However, they are often defeated by soldiers, especially at close range.
( dont forget grenades and other explosives.)
