They say is to clear out subscriptions from channels you didn't view in a long time, but it's to lower reach of some while boosting visibility of other
Exactly. Randy is iconic I'm so glad his family got the torch and in the new scream movie I felt as if Randy was speaking and he would have agreed with his young family member definitely 😁💯
Here's a little fun fact: Angelina was supposed to be Roman's partner and girlfriend. Then the Weinsteins jumped in and wanted there to be no second killer. Since I refuse to believe that Roman can do this all by himself, I'll stick to my headcannon that Angelina was a secret partner that started to crack or outlived her usefulness.
That's also my headcannon, I think it could have made the movie better, like making Angelina obsessed with becoming Sydney but then Roman kills her at the end planning on framing her for the murders.
23:52 Essentially Roman figures people will assume Sidney did it out of anger at the movies for both making money off of her own personal tragedy and that of her mother. Which when you couple it with her learning about what the producers did to her mom is not all that crazy.
As much as Scream 3 is flawed, I do find the twist about Roman being the illegitimate brother of Sidney and his motive of framing Sidney for the murders were a lot better than the motives than the killers of Scream 2. I do like Laurie Metcalf's performance as Mrs. Loomis, but her motive is essentially Mrs. Voorhees from Friday the 13th, despite the nice homage, and Mickey's motive of blaming the movies, too cliche as commentary on society and pop culture. There have been much better movies that had an antagonist who went nuts because of his obsession with movies and media; in fact, I just recently watched Fade To Black (1980), a very underrated horror comedy which I think may have inspired The Cable Guy with Jim Carrey.
Could you imagine if the trilogy ended when we found out Dewey was a third killer in every movie. Thus making the trilogy have three killers each movie. It would have made sense for him to be a killer in each movie, yet by the third movie no one would have thought about it.
24:07 All the other killers Sidney knew in some way but from her perspective Roman's just some random ranting about how he's her half brother then tried to kill her so her confusion when he unmasked made sense.
Ghost face will forever be the coolest looking slasher, something about the robe and the mask, so awesome. I’ve always loved the theory that donning the costume gives the wearer supernatural powers
I don't know that they actually wanted us to believe that it was Fake Sid, so much as they were playing with an audience who consistently kept calling for Sidney to become Ghost Face.
I can’t remember what the show was but it was one of those behind the scenes shows it was about all the rewrites and reshoots they had to do on this movie. But the reason why there are so many arrows pointing to fake Sid is because she was originally supposed to be the second killer and do to time some of the scenes that were shoot when that was the plan still made it into the final cut of the movie but that was just someone’s retelling of what happened so don’t know if it’s 100 percent true.
I forgot how much fun Parker Posey was in this movie. What I do remember is the horrible dialogue and mangled mystery so that may have something to do with it. Magical voice changing device, a plot gimmick the whole movie lives and dies on? Never heard of it.
Thank you for this welcomed distraction Decker. I live in middle Georgia and we are having tornado and flood watches, thunderstorms etc. I’m always happy anytime you upload.
Oh boy, hope you've got adequate shelter for those. Disasters are a nasty sort - teetering so close so frequently, it feels like a formality... up until it actually reaches us and suddenly everything is uprooted. Some things more literally than others.
I listened to a podcast with David arquette and he seemed to be really down to earth and not really into the Hollywood lifestyle thats why he kinda quit acting. He is a hippie at heart and just travels and takes hallucinogenics lol
I know the feeling about strikes and whatnot, been having to make sure every video comparison vid I've been doing pleases 'em... and doesn't get demonetized for whatever reason. (How I avoided that with the Fist of The North Star anime film confuses me)
7:26 - 7:28 I'm surprised you didn't mention the Jay and Silent Bob cameo, Decker, especially how the following year, Wes Craven and Scream would cameo in their own movie.
these movies really makes me appreciate Wes Craven's New Nightmare even more since it's easily the best horror film he's directed in the 90's if not one of the best movies he's ever directed in his entire career. still, Wes Craven will be missed. ^-^
17:18 In a previous script Angelina was the second killer and Roman's partner. The part where Dewey told Gale there were calls from a woman on Stab 3 was either Roman and his stupid multi voice changer or a leftover from the other script.
For some reason, this film will always be forever linked to "Seed of Chucky" in my mind. I don't know why, maybe it's just that early 2000s feel or something...
Glad to see more on my favourite slasher franchise but oh boy is this one the black sheep of the series. Recently rewatched it and the tropes and characters left a lot to be desired for me.
Good stuff Decker. I'm a fan of slasher flicks but the Scream movies never did it for me, the First one was alright but I got nothing out of the others, even at the time of their release it just didn't draw me in. but they're apparently popular enough to keep them coming so more power to them I suppose.
It was gonna be Stu in jail giving orders to some copycats to kill Sidney. Don't know how they'd explain him surviving the TV being smashed over his head though.
It's like the man was crafted specifically to bring fear and terror to the world... and somehow, did so in the most constructive, respectable way possible.
Oh my God, finally, I waited so long. I really love your videos. The humor is on point and you always give some information which is new to most of the viewers. I hope you can fight of those strikes pretty quickly. I am keeping my fingers crossed for you. Keep up the good work :D
Look I get a meta-movie series like Scream wants to TRY to stay ahead of their target demographic, but we expect it, so it’s not as effective, like how jump scares aren’t scares they’re just annoying, let me ask, what’s more of a twist in a series dedicated to them, then no twist at all, face value, Scream 3 WAS supposed to have Stu Macher return, then it got leaked, why not just go with it, say “Yes it is Stu, and come see why you don’t piss off the original,” and play it as a pure slasher for a film or 2, rather than Nancy Drew, lol.
Scream 3 ruined Horror Comedy for me. I get that the events at the time, they had to tone down the movie, but by God they couldn't have just waited about a year to make the movie
I'm confused, what happened to the entire ending? Sidney stabs Roman in the chest afterwards and then Dewey shoots him in the head when he gets back up. It didn't end with Roman getting stabbed in the back. Also there's a twist where you think Roman killed Sidney, but she actually survived.
All the other Screams are horror films with comedy elements. 3 was a bad comedy with the only serious bits being Sidney's PTSD and the story of Maureen's rape.
I only saw this movie Once and it's the reason why I haven't watched part 3 or part 4, but I am definitely looking forward to your reviews of those movies.
Decker shado I would wait 10 years and show you to my potential future kids to show your awesome content. I always enjoyed your perspective, script and skits for your vids. So I'll keep waiting for your content and support you.
I love your videos and amazing sense of humour, man! You and The Newbee are the absolute best when it comes to movie reviews and actual proper critique!
This was the first scream movie I actually watched when I was a kid. To this day still my favorite of the scream series. I also thank this movie for introducing me to Creed and their best song “What If”. Flawed movie but still love it. Honestly I think they should have stopped on the 3rd movie. 4 was ok at best but not needed and I disagree with the 5th movie (don’t get me started).
Always love your reviews. It’s really funny watching your review these because I can vaguely remember them coming out. Or at least remember their box covers at the blockbuster. That was much too much of a wimp to rent them out. And to young
fun fact this movies uses almost 100x less blood than the first scream, and keep in mind even thought the original scream was pre columbine it still had to be edited like crazy to avoid an nc 17 rating.
Not a great fan of Sceam after number 2 but does prove my horror movie bad guy rule no bad guy is dead till you've got their head in one hand and heart in the other.
7:26 Decker you showed those two on purpose- also is this clip real or is this from Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back? Cuz it's been a while since I've seen either but either way I think I'd remember this cameo
Actually, I kind of remember some rumors, and a mention in passing in a documentary (Mandela Effect)?, that Emily Mortimer’s character Angie was not a red hearing and was in fact the second Ghostface, but Wes wanted to change at least one thing from the other films. Which made this one seem even more disjointed than all the rest and is incredibly noticeable because they did not allow Wes to reshoot the scenes where Ghostface moves like a girl and is much shorter. BTW I wrote this before you mentioned you had more to say about the one killer.
I saw both scream 2 and 3 in the cinema, i remember not liking this one even back then. Still fun but felt less of a horror movie and more of a comedy to me.
Kevin Williamson used the ghost face room jump scare scene with Jenny McCarthy in his Kevin Bacon/James Purefoy show The Following and it is scary and effective. Also, I'd say the Heather Matarazzo was thrown in here to show a Welcome to the Dollhouse/Scream/Hostel sequel crossover that never came to pass, a waste of a very talented actress in a pointless 5 minute role and showing that before she came out of the closet, she was pretty cute and had a banging ass to boot 16:15-16:17.
Spoilers Apparently in the original script, Angelique was meant to be the second killer, she was Rowan's girlfriend and went to Sydney's high school. But for some reason they cut that. Also, there is a theory that she is still alive (due to her being dragged off screen) which means that if she was the second killer, she basically got away with murder
Yeah, the theory is partly because the dragging off screen was in the script (it was supposed to be a fake out like Roman's "death" earlier), and because apparently in some anniversary thing there are obituaries for every character that died - but Angelina is suspiciously left absent. Plus she was *supposed* to appear in early drafts of Scream 4, so even with her Scream 3 killer plot being cut she was still intended on being alive at the end of Scream 3.
This is the only scream movie I've seen more than once all the way from beginning to end. Sucks because the other movies are like included in a trilogy pack and I haven't bought that yet but I will
