Over 20 years and I am still salty they killed Randy. I know horror sequels like to kill off a survivor of the previous film to show that nobody is safe but I'd rather it have been Dewey or Gail (honestly Gail gets my vote but I'd still prefer Dewey die over Randy)
Fun Fact: the original trailer to Scream 2 had Randy finish his speech during their conversation, where he said: "Number 3: never, ever, under any circumstances, assume that the killer is dead." kind of wished they've kept that in the film instead of cutting his lines short.
I just wanna say Decker shado we appreciate u putting out these videos as quick as you have lately 2 uploads in 7 days it's been a year if not years since you've did that 👏👏
I remember the first two movies being so huge in my high school. Even though this wasn't as good as the first, it was still fun with interesting characters in it. Plus, I love that Aunt Jacky was the other killer.
So Scream has Matthew Lillard, Scream 2 has Sarah Michelle Gellar, does Scream 3 have Freddie Prinz Jr and Scream 4 Linda Cardellini for the complete Scooby Doo collection?
The movie turns 25 today! Still one of my favorite sequels ever A far superior movie than its predecessor from having a stellar soundtrack, greater kills, way more meta humor touching upon sequels and their various tropes and flaws, a bigger cast, too The score by Marco Beltrami still dominates enhancing the scary moments but also making the drama more engaging The laughs are just as plentiful to liven things up with sharp dialogue thanks to Williamson still understanding teenagers These characters are living a real-life sequel and the Ghostface killer is stepping up his game; he is no one and everyone at the same time usually one step ahead of his victims But it was always Craven’s intention to hand the reins to the potential survivors at the end After all we want Sidney, Gale, and Dewey to make it out full understanding the killer’s motivation It engages with the movie that came before, escalating the stakes and diving deeper into the themes ‘Scream 2’ doubles down on everything that helped ‘Scream 1’ become a classic In contrast to the original movie this leans more heavily into the franchise’s exploration of horror movie tropes, to the point that these discussions become quite literally academic to where everything is mediated Discussions about the lack of blackness in cinema, serial killers typically not being female, and motivations not being nearly as good ol’ fashioned revenge Plus it dives into the celebrity culture using violence as another commodity to be sold and to get fifteen minutes of fame As I said before this is still one of my favorite sequels ever as I had grown up with the franchise from a young age and loved the late Wes Craven’s approach to the horror genre Neve Campbell as Sidney Prescott is what anchors these movies allowing a final girl like her to come out victorious and tackle her trauma, her life is a tragedy much like a part in the film where she’s cast as Cassandra on stage Sometimes doubling down on the reflexive ness and self-awareness helps without losing sight of the story’s humanity and ‘Scream 2’ rejects the post-modern trappings with great effect A very worthy follow-up that still entertains mocking the genre but also adding to the terror
this was actually the first Scream movie I got to see in theaters back in the 90's. my father took me to see it right after I watched Kenan & Kel on TV, which I seem to remember seeing it at the Rio Cinemas in Montgomery County, MD on opening weekend.

Part of the greatness in the scream franchise is that ghostface be anybody, there isn’t a specific person that is ghostface so it works to kill the killers and then have new ones appearing.
Yeah that was a letdown with Mickey not being as involved as Billy Loomis an Stu was! Although originally They wanted to make the boyfriend an Best Friend the killers which Seems like that's what the movie was more gear towards but ultimately they switched it to Mickey an Mrs. Loomis!
I think they changed it due to the script leaking. Mickey was supposed to be killed by Ghostface in the originally script I think? Still Timothy Olyphant and Laura Metcalfe play good psychos at least.
the opening to this movie set a fear in me about movie restrooms. idk why my parents let me watch it bc i cant go into a theater restroom alone now even at 31
I hate to say it, but Laurie Metcalf as Mrs. Loomis just didn't work for me at all. It's not even that her performance was bad, she's a fine actress in this, but Scream 2 came out right on the heels of the final season of Roseanne, one of the most baffling seasons of television ever produced, and I simply couldn't disassociate Laurie from her character on the series, Roseanne's increasingly over-the-top, wacky sister, Jackie. The series was still too fresh in my mind. I wonder if they cast her in Scream 2 thinking this would be a great misdirect, and I'll admit I never suspected she was one of the killers, but I just can't take Roseanne's sister seriously as a coldblooded murderer. It *was* better watching this movie years later, after I'd stopped seeing Jackie every time I looked at Laurie, but it did make my first my viewing a little awkward.
I'm on a big 90s' horror binge right now and I actually enjoyed this one quite a bit. Sure it's no OG Scream, but that final confrontation in the theatre always stuck with me. Also weirdly because for some reason, my at-the-time teenage neighbor gave me his Ghostface mask when I was like 7 the year this came out.
If you think about it Scream 2 tried to throw us off again in the beginning like they did in scream making us think Jada Pickett Smith will be a main character cus she's a big name an Omar Epps just to kill them both off right away!

You'd think if she was the starved reporter gale thought she was she'd be interviewing cindy or trying to but she didn't. In friday the 13th it just comes out of nowhere, never seeing the potential killer
Loved this sequal for how they relished in committing sequel format whilst still having great development for the preexisting characters and great gritty kills. If they handled the killer identities better I'd love it on the level of the 1st.

i know this is an unpopular opinion but i dont think 2 is that good a movie. It has some iconic moments - Gale hiding + duey stabbing and the car scene. but a lot of the rest of it fell a bit flat for me. Randy was less likeable in his brief role, and i didn't like the boyfriend at all(i know he was at one time scripted to be the killer). The eventual killers where underwhelming, and the whole play that was going on through the film just missed with me. 3 was definitely worse, but this wasnt as good as the original, not even close.
0:32 Not even a minute in and I'm already laughing. I agree very much, it just feels like once the first movie is made and very successful then another director arrives and thinks they can do just as good or better than the original, but most of the time, they're wrong. Good on Wes Craven for sticking to the franchise he primarily directed. R.I.P. Wes Craven.
The toilet cubicle stabbing made absolutely no sense. How did the killer even know the guy would be disgusting enough to press his face against a public toilet cubicles wall? Then there is the question of how the killer knew where on the cubicle wall to stab and when.
All the Scream movies were so good, especially the fourth one. I just don't know what's going to happen with this new one since Wes Craven isn't directing it. Seems like a cash grab to me.

You're wrong about Randy never making voices like that again in the first one he did something similar to that just not a British accent so he carried it over into the second one just with a British accent this time
The opening sequence: it's like if a studio made a movie about a certain 1999 high school shooting in the year 2000. On opening night theaters hand out trench coats and toy guns. Everyone runs around the theater during the shooting scenes, laughing and pretending to shoot each other.
Seriously I hate how much I love your videos. That's a compliment I assure you. I'm here like where is the Decker Shado review of _____. You are amazing. Keep it up.
Wtf so I was going to go rewatch your scream one review and just realized it's been taken down.😕 Otherwise thanks for recommending the jolly time big cheese. It is really good.
I haven't seen the sequels yet but I think it'd be a fun twist if there were two sets of killers that coincidentally started their copycatting at the same time and had no idea who the others were and also acted paranoid because they'd also be potential victims
Awesome review as always this is one of those movies that I didn't really actually just get into like that I definitely love the original scream movie. I hated that they killed Randy in this one but it was a cool surprise. I just came to the realization that Sarah Michelle Gellar was in Scream I Know What You Did Last Summer and The Grudge all around the same time Buffy was busy lol. An connection Jamie Kennedy kind of looks like Shaggy from Scooby Doo. Awesome Vid as Always
Damn, I always assumed Randy's English accent moment was meant to be a movie quote, like he was doing an impression of Tim Roth in a Tarantino film or something and I just didn't recognise the quote. But, thanks to this reaction, I've watched a 2021 video where Jamie Kennedy analyses that whole scene - and nope, pure random as far as he can recall. Hahaha, wtf.
Fun fact: a psychologist who claims to have helped the Army come up with the revisions to boot camp in the 70s (the break them down, then build them up method that's practically identical to what was being done before but this time with SCIENCE behind it) said that violent videogames brainwash kids. Not a single interviewer asked him about the other programs he would have been involved with involving psychics and LSD though.

I actually yelled out the first time I saw his death.
Yeah randy was the best, I been salty to
Randy was an interesting and informative character that could've helped in the recent sequel.
Well they killed off Dewey in Scream 5
Fun Fact: the original trailer to Scream 2 had Randy finish his speech during their conversation, where he said: "Number 3: never, ever, under any circumstances, assume that the killer is dead." kind of wished they've kept that in the film instead of cutting his lines short.
I feel like instead of making movies shorter, scenes are removed simply because they can be, especially now in the 2020's.
And it is true, horror movies and their killers (Jason, Freddy, Chucky, Ghostface, etc.) NEVER die unless the company says they are.
Not true since movies back then could be shorter while most movies now a days are usually pretty long.
Also not true since some franchises have been left alone whine the more popular and mainstream franchises have been milked to death.
@@randomnessltd Scream 2 is 2 hours long which for the time was pretty long and pretty standard as of recent. But i get what your saying

These characters are living a real-life sequel and the Ghostface killer is stepping up his game; he is no one and everyone at the same time usually one step ahead of his victims
But it was always Craven’s intention to hand the reins to the potential survivors at the end
After all we want Sidney, Gale, and Dewey to make it out full understanding the killer’s motivation
It engages with the movie that came before, escalating the stakes and diving deeper into the themes
‘Scream 2’ doubles down on everything that helped ‘Scream 1’ become a classic
In contrast to the original movie this leans more heavily into the franchise’s exploration of horror movie tropes, to the point that these discussions become quite literally academic to where everything is mediated
Discussions about the lack of blackness in cinema, serial killers typically not being female, and motivations not being nearly as good ol’ fashioned revenge
Plus it dives into the celebrity culture using violence as another commodity to be sold and to get fifteen minutes of fame

Neve Campbell as Sidney Prescott is what anchors these movies allowing a final girl like her to come out victorious and tackle her trauma, her life is a tragedy much like a part in the film where she’s cast as Cassandra on stage

The opening sequence: it's like if a studio made a movie about a certain 1999 high school shooting in the year 2000. On opening night theaters hand out trench coats and toy guns. Everyone runs around the theater during the shooting scenes, laughing and pretending to shoot each other.
3:44 and 4:24 also the cliche of the black guy dying first in a horror movie as well started
The secret of the ooze
Seriously I hate how much I love your videos. That's a compliment I assure you. I'm here like where is the Decker Shado review of _____. You are amazing. Keep it up.
The fact that you know Sliders makes me like you, that much more.
I love you Decker! Lol that is all!.. missed seeing reviews for a while...
Brilliant look back at Scream 2 really enjoyable well done Keep up the good work on your channel 👍👍
I loved Jada's response to the movie.
Weird Al is doing film reviews? Awesome!
I am not a fan of many horror movie reviews so I will wait for Decker to put out Scream 3 and hopefully 5
No Additional Notes? I always looked forward to reading the Additional Notes. Did I miss something?
