The main thing that Djokovic does very well is that when someone attacks him, he counter attacks more aggresively and with more power and precision, which other players are unable.........The other guy then adopt defensive position and do not dictate overall gameplay.........This is why Nadal was unable to change Djokovic game play.
Nadal's short steps and fine adjustments while he prepares to return helps him with uneven bounces on clay, where the ball often deviates from its initial trajectory. Novak's stretched postures and ability to hit very well while he is acrobatically stressed helps him on an almost geometrically even hard court, where the ball will always come where it should.
I mean, I know these are extended highlights, but the large amount of “highlights” shown of Nadal is kinda disrespectful to Djokovic considering the perfect tennis he played 🤷🏼♂️
2011 Djokovic was a menace and was seeing as one of the upcoming greats , 2015 Djokovic was the most dominant and complete of him and this version had the greatest season of tennis history of all time ever (far better than 2006 Federer and 2010 Nadal), 2019 Djokovic was the most scary version of him as he was mentally at his peak ( we all know the Wimbledon final). I didn't really expect Nadal to win, but it wasn't very nice to lose like this, he must have been so angry with this match that he took a very heavy revenge in RG 2020.
Novak seemed to be in a flow state here. He was floating across the court and almost every shot of his was fast and deep. If you play tennis, you know it and feel it when you hit that flow state. It doesn't always happen although that is what every player tries all the time to achieve. Novak is incredibly comfortable on this court and when he reaches this state, no opponent can stand a chance unless they too can hit a similar state. And that's when you have a highest quality match which goes on to become a classic. Rafa played very well but I felt he was too static in his approach by continuing to go for angles which Novak knew was coming and was so good at handling that. Like Toni said after the match, Rafa must have started going more to the center so that Novak was forced to construct angles himself from the center and not from the incoming angle of the ball which would have caught him off balance at times and given Rafa some breathing space to construct a point his own way later. But when your opponent is Novak and you see him in such a flowing state, it is so intimidating and plans don't work. Some other performances that I can think of from what I have seen where it feels like they are in a flow state was seeing Roger in Indian Wells against Rafa again. Blew him away in straight sets. And as Roger said in so many interviews and in his book, 2017 was a year where Roger felt so happy and fulfilled when he won the AO 2017. It showed in his performance that year where he was in flow almost every match. And also, Rafa in 2020 RG final where he returned the exact favour to Novak and hit a flow state on his favorite surface and arena.
Nadal really didnt offer much to turn the match around. Novak hardly broke a sweat. All Nadal did was hitting the ball harder and harder and with more spin but they were too predictable. Djokovic knew when he was gonna hit..

@@MMAandBoxingEnjoyerRafa was prime in 2006 at least on clay. His matchup was always a problem for Federer especially on clay. Nadal was prime even in 2008. Nole amassed more than half of his in the post 2018 world. No Roger to compete consistently in that world. As for Murray, Wawrinka they were tough competitors for Nole but mostly they were Rafa and Roger. Rafa only on clay mostly since 2013. Stan rises once in a blue moon and pretty much an average player overall. Roger was an above average in his post 2010 days but still overpowered Murray and wiped the floor with Wawrinka. Wawrinka's record is very pathetic overall. His 3 GS final victories were iconic though. His best surface is clay but the game isn't suited against Federer. His match up makes more sense against Nole, but for that he has to reach finals or semis consistently
Thank you, AO, for making a fair Highlights Video… nowadays ATP would make highlights of a match where Novak won and choose to show more points from the loser than from Djokovic.

Rafa needs to adjust his forehand follow through and put less spin.

Djokovic monstrueux😱😱
Nadal's short steps and fine adjustments while he prepares to return helps him with uneven bounces on clay, where the ball often deviates from its initial trajectory.
Novak's stretched postures and ability to hit very well while he is acrobatically stressed helps him on an almost geometrically even hard court, where the ball will always come where it should.
from a technical point of view, that is a spot-on observation.
@@mirkom4599 thanks
I mean, I know these are extended highlights, but the large amount of “highlights” shown of Nadal is kinda disrespectful to Djokovic considering the perfect tennis he played 🤷🏼♂️
The GOAT is clearly Djoker, no question about it
2011 Djokovic was a menace and was seeing as one of the upcoming greats , 2015 Djokovic was the most dominant and complete of him and this version had the greatest season of tennis history of all time ever (far better than 2006 Federer and 2010 Nadal), 2019 Djokovic was the most scary version of him as he was mentally at his peak ( we all know the Wimbledon final). Now 2023 Djokovic is a legend and the greatest player of all time and still competing and being at no.1
Far better than 06 Fed? when a 34 year old Fed was his main rival during 2015 playing him in 2 slam finals and atp masters final cup? and he won both slams by out-grinding Fed in long matches(>= 3 hours) and won 1-2 points more in that US open final where Fed was horrible on break points?

Didn't notice him until now. Da fuq?😂😂
