One of the best Djokovic performances
I totally understand that Australian Open is where Novak has always dominated and he has never lost to Rafa here, but I think posting a match like the 2012 final would be much better for the occasion... just my 2 cents
I think they should have posted the 2022 final against Daniil.
That's already posted lol
@charliechen4177 hehe you're right
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
What a heartbreaking match. Rafa went into this final without dropping a set, and got absolutely crushed by a top of form Novak. His 4th runner up finish at AO in 10 years and it looked like he'd never win the title again. So glad he got the chance to redeem himself in 2022
To be fair Nadal's draw was fairly easy in this tournament. His hardest match was supposed to be against a very young and inexperienced Tsitsipas and it wasn't even a contest. Also considering the fact that Nadal was much slower and beat up because of all his career injuries up to that point there was no chance he would've beaten Djokovic at his favorite tournament and Djokovic had suffered much less career changing injuries than Nadal.
@patcisz3474 If he was so much slower than Novak due to injuries, then how did he crush him at 2020 RG?
@Rory626 because the surface of clay is the slowest of all surfaces with the highest bounce, which helped Nadal to still be able to defend and cover the court.
@@patcisz3474 Tsitsipas won Federer
@@patcisz3474exactly. Prime rafa was from 2008-2014
I'm a djokovic fan. But I do wonder why you would post this match to celebrate Nadal's retirement.
You no need to be Djokovic or nadal fan to say this .this is basic concept and even rafa fans will say the same when roland garros posted Djokovic lost final vs nadal in Djokovic retirement
posting these highlights on nadal's retirement is kinda interesting 😂
I would have no problems someone’ posting rg20 when Nole retires.
@@NamTran-xc2ipbut why do so?
The perrfomance in this match from Djokovic was incredible
I remember thinking after this that Nadal would never beat Djokovic again, he was so nervous and unprepared for Djoker’s game. At one point he literally missed the ball completely with his racket off a routine forehand. It reminded me of the RG 08 F. Anyway ofc the very next set they play after this match, Nadal bagelled Djokovic
He was NOT going to lose 2020 RG. lol
Never doubt Rafa’s chances on clay.
Off clay though, they only played 1 match after that.
That’s called different conditions. Djokovic dominating Nadal on hard court doesnt change anything to the fact Rafa dominates him on clay.
@@davidmonnier6477rafa has chances to beat djokovic in 2017,18 hardcourts to lead in their h2h and legacy but sadly it didnt happen .. Australia open 2017,2018 and US open 2017,2019 could give 4 hard wins against Djokovic
@@Laland_1196 What ? Just because he played well/won those HC Slams doesn't mean he would have beaten Djokovic if they faced, and he's actually they didn't.
Djokovic AO 17 was injured to his elbow, 18 too, was early in his recovery (and Nadal was too), US Open 17 same and 2019 Djokovic had to retire against Wawrinka. You're cherry picking good Nadal performances that coincide with Djokovic being absent. Just like Djokovic was lucky with the wins he got off Rafa at Roland Garros (2015 he was heavily hampered, 2021 slightly but still)
Doesn't matter the score. Rafa always fought until the end each point. There is greatness in loss too.
what a dismantling................ not even close................... The Goat Nole doing what he does best.
AO out here reminding us that 2013 will be the last year Nadal has ever won a set off Djokovic on hard court in his lifetime
They barely played on HC outside of Rafa’s lowest period. Misleading stat.
@@yussepig6629 Yeah because Nadal kept getting eliminated by such elite opposition as Frances Tiafoe and Denis Shapovalov
🇪🇸 Rafael Nadal & 🇨🇭Roger Federer is my favorite tennis player of all time 100% indeed!!! Cheers!!! 🐐👑💎🎾🎾
Rafa returning from many months on the sideline. Hardly at his best. He had an easy draw to get to the final.
Nadal bagelled him at FO couple months later
Nadal brushed aside prime Federer 3-0 in Australian Open. Apart from the one match that Federer won against a back injured Nadal in 5 sets, Nadal dominated him. Now, look at what Djokovic did to Nadal at AO.
Back injured Nadal? You mean AO final in 2017? Laughable claim. But for the Nadalistos a good excuse.
Why don't you check the history books? Of the last 7 matches Federer won 6. Basel, AO, IW Miami, Shanghai, W. Lost RG. That was 2015-2019. So where did Nadal dominate him all the time?
Nadal was not injured in 2017. You are talking about 2014.
Rafa excessive spin didn't really affect Novak and the fact that Novak hits flatter with more penetration always gives him the edge over Rafa on hard court.
AO2008-2016 was slow court, while 2017-today is fast court.
Really??
@@arslaanpasha3334 I compared between AO2009,2012 final vs AO2017,2019 final, balls in old day courts were more spins while today is low bounce.
This was supposed to be also the Final of AO22.
RG 2020 should also be the final of RG 2016 and 2023
@ Rafa was never banned from playing RG so Novak could win the title. 🤫 Rafa’s only 2 AO titles came when Novak was pre-prime and banned. 😂 Never defeated him on his own soil at RLA, whilst Nole has defeated Rafa 3 times at Phillippe Chatrier. 🤣 3>>>0
@Tennis_Expert nice execuse..nole pre prime ? 😂 Rafa also not in best form in RG 2015,2021 so what's ur point expert in tennis ?
@ Point is 3>>>0.
@Tennis_Expert 😂 counting Olympic their farewell match and 2015 poor year ? He will never beat prime Nadal in Roland Garros..their 8-2 leads shows that
The GOAT Novak Djokovic give him a class that day 🔥
Like 2020 RG ? You need to be humble and respect every players like nole
@@Laland_1196The GOAT gave him a class in 2020RG. Happy now?
@@NamTran-xc2ip yeah
@@NamTran-xc2ip Nadal is the GOAT of clay only. Djokovic is the supreme GOAT of tennis.
This Grand Slam Final made absolutely no sense whatsoever. To lose a Final in straight-sets after not dropping a single set in six prior matches is bizarre to say the least...
Nadal just didn't have the belief that he could beat Djokovic on hard court anymore at that point. Nadal knew that his body was much more beat up than Djokovic and Djokovic was much faster than Nadal at that point in their careers.
What about federer in us open 2015? Federer reached final in straight sets also defeated djokovic previously in cincinati 2015 in straight sets and throughout that whole tournament federer never lost a set or dropped a service game. Still in the final of 2015 us open federer barely won a set from djokovic
Djoko was unplayable that day, in the zone from start to finish
One of the most superior performances which was demonstrated by Novak Djokovic throughout the grans slam tournaments. Moreover, it was the easiest grand slam final encounter in his professional career, attaining the seventh AO title by going down in the history. It is entirely the holy land of Novak Djokovic.
Absolute Masterclass by Novak!!!
One of the best matches of Noles career - and worst of Rafas.
Nadal was just not as good on hard court anymore after the 2014 AO final injury which completely destroyed his prime. He wasn't even able to beat Federer anymore after 2014 except for that RG match in 2019.
@patcisz3474 incorrect. Nadal played one of his best tournaments at AO 2019. But the calibre of opponent in the final was just too much.
@kakashihatake1029 That was still not prime Nadal. His speed was significantly declined by that point and Djokovic suffered much less injury problems so he was still much closer to his prime than Nadal was.
@patcisz3474 incorrect. Nadal played his best statistic hard court grand slam since 2010 up until the final and he even had a vastly superior serve compared to prior years. But it wasn't even nearly enough.
@@kakashihatake1029 I agree on the tournament - and he played like shit in the final. lol The only place you're wrong is where his best was before that - which was 2013 - when he beat Nole in the final in the US open.
Australian Open TV doesn't understand the concept of "condensed match"
For a whole match it's condensed, Is your attention span too small for 22 minutes?
@@KingAdjustRealMadridFan-h7b Your comprehension level is definitely on the small side.
@@NamTran-xc2ip Small attention span and fake tennis fan spotted 😂
@@NamTran-xc2ip Condensed means shorter in length, this is way shorter than the full match and shows the important moments, please don't embarrass yourself further 🤭😂
@@KingAdjustRealMadridFan-h7b You are the one who's embarrassing yourself. You just don't realise it.
Great match. And a fitting way to show how post 2013 Djoker Nadal went outside clay
Goodness, Novak is something else!!!! 🎉🎉
Unfortunately for Nadal he was much slower here than the 2012 AO final or 2013 US Open final and he was just not able to cover the court against Djokovic as well as he did in his younger years. Djokovic at this point in their careers was much faster than Nadal and suffered much less injury problems which meant that his game was still very similar to his prime and because of that Nadal didn't even stand a chance of producing a competitive match in the 2019 AO final. Clay remained the only chance of an older and watered down version of Nadal to beat Djokovic because it is the slowest surface and the high bounce helped him to still track down balls and defend.
Nadal played some of his best hc tennis here at AO 2019. But so did Djokovic. And Djokovic just figured out all the right tactics to annihilate Nadal on hard courts.
@kakashihatake1029 Djokovic was still much closer to his physical peak than Nadal was. You seem to be ignoring that part.
@patcisz3474 Nadal moved just fine the whole tournament and his serve was better than ever. People were saying he would annihilate Djokovic and then it all backfired. Djokovic simply figured him out on hard courts ever since 2013. Was Nadal past his physical peak back then too? Maybe, since his fans always make those excuses. Nadal had a great hard court season in 2913 but after the USO, Djokovic annihilated him time and time again.
AO 2019 was no exception. It was the expected result.
You don't understand. Nadal's physical peak was from 2008-2013 he was clearly much faster than he was from 2014 all the way to retirement.
@patcisz3474 lots of excuses. The fact is that this is a textbook excuse from Nadal fans to cope with his ridiculous losing record to Djokovic post 2013 US. Even before that, Djokovic was annihilating him on hard courts with the exception of 2013 outdoor season due to the higher bouncing and slower courts.
The fact is that Nadal is simply an easy matchup for Djokovic on hard courts.
Djokovic has a tougher time with folks ranked number 50 than he does with Nadal on hard courts
I have never seen nadal so helpless in a GS against djokovic except 2015 French Open QF
So are we now celebrating Djokovic’s career or what? Great job AO.
Fr. W post AO. Love this
Need Roland Garros to post 2020 condensed match for compensation now
Rafa is the 2nd goat
@ yea, Rafa comes in the top 2 greatest players of all time.
And he’s not second.
@@tennis-man22 he is the 2nd which is very impressive you should be proud of that.
@prempititantipool3075 yes, djokovic is 2nd. Stay mad
@@tennis-man22 hahaha tell your idol to get a set from Novak in HC plz
Rafa the best❤
This final is so interesting because Nadal learnt absolutely nothing from the Doha 2016 mauling. It’s almost a repeat of that final but Novak not quite at that Doha 2016 level. Rafa doing the same fluffy shots, no intent, no FH down the lines etc etc. an absolutely shambolic performance. Novak deserved winner
Nadal should be thankful that Djokovic did not want to get vaccinated in 2022 and that's why he didn't play in the 2022 AO... His stats vs Djokovic on Hard courts are ridiculous... Since 2013, he hasn't won a single set..
We cant say djokovic would have made past medvedev in semis because djokovic lost to him in us open and also in tour finals
Misleading stat. Most encounters were during Rafa’s low point, as you well know.
I think Nadal and Federer are not even a competitor to Novak Djokovic
Novak 🔥🔥🔥
My personal feeling
Me encantó el tennis por novak
LET'S GOOOOOO NOLEEEEE 🐐
I think this version of djokovic can only be defeated by 2011, 2015 or 2016 version of djokovic or maybe 2006 federer
🇪🇸 Rafael Nadal & 🇨🇭Roger Federer is a national treasure of tennis & hall of fame of tennis!!! Cheers!!! 🐐👑💎🎾🎾
One of the easiest ever Rafa paths to final, no form and thats why djokovic destroy him
Djokovic also have easy path ..faced pouille in semis ..rafa faced Tsitsipas is better than pouille
Rafa leads Nole at US open 2-1. This was just a bad day after months out due to injury
Why posting this After nadal's retirement ????
Why... why did you post the video of Nadal losing at this time? I thought Nadal was going to come back from two sets down lol.
Their head to head in grand slams is kind of unfair to novak. First, a lot of matches were played way before novak hit his best level of tennis, before he became dominant. Second, they played 18 matches in grand slams, with more tham half of them(10) being played on clay, in roland garros, rafa's best surface and the court where nobody besides novak could beat him more than once (federer never even came close to beating rafa there). In novak's best grand slam tournaments they played just a few matches. In australia, novak's best grand slam, they played only twice, with novak winning both, and in wimbledon they played only three times, with novak winning two( and the one rafa won was in 2007, when djokovic was still rising and was very far from reaching something close to his best level). In the us open they played three times, with nadal winning two, but again, they never played there after 2013, and from 2013 to 2023, djokovic was the man that dominated the circuit the most, probably if they had played more times there after 2013, djokovic would have won the majority. A great rivalry, but nadal got the advantage in grand slam matches because most of the matches because the vast majority of the matches were in roland garros and because from 2014 to 2023( best period of Djokovic's career) they only played 2 times in grand slams other than roland garros, whereas only in roland garros they played more 5 times (and djokovic was able to win twice out of that five). I respect rafa a lot and he is an amazing player and competitor, but Djokovic was way more dominant and dominated way more years in his career. The comparison is still made only because the traditional midia likes nadal more than Djokovic
you put a lot of effort into this post. I can respect that.
On wimbledon its 2-2 nadal won in 2007 and 2008 I think
Yeah was wondering like many why do you have to choose to put this up remembering him ... U should probably put 2022 thing or 09 one
Idk what Carlos moyas game plan was against djokovic this match but it definitely wasn’t the right one. Nadal should have went to uncle Toni and tried to play him like he did at the 2013 us open and 2018 Wimbledon by hitting more flat and down the line.
Is this a first round match or final?😂
🔥💥🤩🙌
Saaddddd . . . . . !!!
Based on stats, Djokovic is GOAT, Nadal is clay GOAT, but Federer is greatest entertainment value for the money. There is not one match with Federer in it that is not exciting, even when the opponent is no match.
here you go djokovic fans, you dont need to whine like little children in this comments section smh
