    My experience was that my previous HDMI cables(for previous version Apple TV and 4K TV) had audio/video stuttering problems with the new Apple TV 4K and same 4K TV. Unwatchable, very irritating. Bought the Belkin HDMI 2.1 cables, problem went away.

      This is the answer I have been looking for, not if the card or TV can do HDR 4K @ 60Hz, both very capable, but if this cable can provide the throughput bandwidth for HDR 4K @ 60Hz. I have been through so many cables claiming this or that, yet fail to offer the stated bandwidth. I even tried Club3D DP to HDMI with slight improvement but just could not get HDR @ 60Hz, I could get 30Hz yes, even though they claimed HDR @ 60Hz. Thank you!

    I always liked belkin products, I think they are one of the few companies that still take pride in their products and manufacture them with quality and durability built in.

    My 2015 JU7100 has the one connect mini so maybe that can be upgraded??? I doubt the TV internals could handle it though. It did receive the update for HDR BUT its not really capable of the light output needed (max is 400 nits) or the wide color gamut for HDR so I just turn that off on my PS4 Pro and XboxS.

    So my ps4 pro has black screen issues with the Samsung UE55MU7000 series. If I watched it correctly this cable will not help fixing this issue because the ps4pro and the tv don't have a 2.1 port. So I wouldn't get the 48Gbps?
    And I know that 18Gbps is not enough for 2160p hdr rgb. Then the screen will black out frequently. But when the ps4 sets it back to Yuv422 (or 420) it shouldn't happen anymore right? Or does yuv420 exceeds the 18Gbps?

    • @SpawnViper4
      @SpawnViper4 7 років тому

      No, using HDMI 2.1 wont get rid of what seems to be a firmware issue. Either you XBOX or Tv is the culprit, but i'm betting of the TV. It might need a new firmware update to allow for the spectrum of colors the XBOX is outputting. IF you have another 10bit device i would attempt to test it.

    • @modernwize
      @modernwize  7 років тому

    • @modernwize
      @modernwize  7 років тому +1

      The Oppo UDP 203 and 205 are using the older HDMI 2.0 spec; They do not support HDMI 2.1 and are not firmware upgradeable. Oppo will need to release a new player to support the new HDMI 2.1 spec. Currently there are no Blu-Rays that support the new variable framerates or 8k content. If I were to be shortsighted, I'd say frame rate, color space and bitrate may improve in the near term.

I bought a replacement HDMI cable and it works on all 3 main 4K inputs for HDR and the ARC port like the other cable used to. Not knowing why is really pissing me off! Is it just a faulty cable? If so why does it still work on one specific connection when another cable works on all? If anyone could help it would be greatly appreciated!

      modernwize I do and the other works with both HDMI 2 and ARC. I’ve never come across anything like this. I’m going to assume it’s the cable but from a tech standpoint I can’t figure it out and it’s frustrating as hell.
      I’ve ordered a 2.1 Belkin after watching your review. Had issues with many cables especially with the ks8000. The damn thing is not comparable with Sony devices and the cables all failed within 2 to 3 months (think it’s the one connect box frying them). Sony X93e seems to handle content much better I must admit. Hopefully the extra bandwidth will cure any lingering kinks with media that runs at the full 17.8

    • @modernwize
      @modernwize  7 років тому +4

      I would wait if you can. The C7 is one of the most future proof TV's of 2017, but you will be in a VERY good position to make your decision if you can just hold off for 3 more weeks. Then I'll know which TVs are coming out in 2018 and we can see where we stand with discounted current gen TVs.

    • @magicman073
      @magicman073 7 років тому +2

      I don’t think you can ever future proof they are always looking for the next thing. I just got the LG OLED E7 myself and I got it for a good price in the Black Friday deals. It’s a great tv and great gaming.It’s ok waiting until jan see what they going to bring but then you will have to pay full price. Not gonna by a tv just because it has a 2.1 port. Think TVs will take a good few years for the 2.1 technology make a difference if any in my eyes.

    Hi Joe/Cody,
    Goal is 4K at the highest possible FPS, but very happy with 2K as well, more than happy... on the TV and ridiculous 4K movies, through the PC... again on to said tv...
    OLED is what I have my eyes on. Either the LG or Sony A1...
    The PC, that I have has the strix 1080. (ASUS)...
    Will I get good FPS?
    Also, how come the GPU that I have is a top graphics card...’ish... yet doesn’t have the 2.1? Is that going to always bottleneck performances? The absence of the 2.1? What will be my peak FPS...
    And the other problem... what if I’m HDMI’ing it all via a Yamaha amp... to then get atmos... and the benefits of my speakers... ugh... thanks...

    it doesn't matter what people want in their tv. If you don't have the hardware in your pc to push 4k at 100 plus frames it really doesn't matter how many hz the tv can reach. Not even the top nvidia cards (i have a 1080 Ti) have the power to achieve those frames in 4k, unless you are playing games that don't demand any heavy graphics, like mincraft. On top of that, in such a big tv in 4k you will definitely notice the screen tearing unless your tv comes with G-sync (and you have a nvidia card) or freesync (and you have an amd card)

    • @modernwize

    i would expect 2018 TVs be released with HDMI 2.1 sooner ... Product is development is usually (and always) parallel to Standards development, Manufacturers try to release products as soon as Standards (e.g., HDMI 2.1) are released. simple example is Belkin cable ...

    • @modernwize
      @modernwize  7 років тому

      I'm guessing the cable is easiest component in the 4k120 chain. I would imagine that the HDMI Forum has a 4k120 / 8k60 sandbox environment in their paid testing program. The hard part is testing for the elements that don't exist. Sony has been using 2015 SOC's in their 2017 flagship TV's, but I don't think they had a choice. Technically, we could remove the boards from our TVs and make DIY 4k120 monitors if we could find the right hardware. The panels are ready, but the internals don't seem to be available. Dell recently tried to make a 4k 120 monitor and pulled it due to quality issues.

      A lot of manufacturers don't have anywhere else to go with their TV tech. Since this is here and now, they would be foolish to not support it as soon as possible to stay competitive. But that's just me looking at it from a business perspective.

I mean. If I can get a 2017 for cheep because 2018s are going to be a gamer TV. But my 75 inch turns into a 55. Because of cost. I would be pissed!

    The obvious difference I found is in Xbox One X Video settings the 8K cable gave a bright glow around the fonts while the 4K cable was obviously dimmer...I thot both cables were same with bandwidth up to 48Gbps
