- True HD Resolution: The game play was played and recorded in real-time at true 1080p HD resolution, not scaled up artificially. The animated lore part of the video is produced at 1080p resolution from the ground up. All assets are created at true 1080p resolution.
Animated Portion: The animated, pre-rendered lore intro portion of the video was done completely in-house. This was not contracted out to a specialty studio that produces high-end pre-rendered videos. All of the illustrations, animation, editing, and rendering was done at ArenaNet.
In-Game Portion: The in-game part of the video is actual in-game footage. It was rendered in real-time in the game engine and recoded live using video capture hardware. Nothing was pre-rendered. All models, textures, and other assets are actual game play versions. They haven't been prettied up for marketing purposes.
Maps are works in progress, and may change to better fit game play.
The team is working hard to make the game even more beautiful for the full release!

Funny how ive never watched this, Rata Sum and LA looks so different live. Also that dragons body, or actually, Zhaitan's body it looks like. Wished it was in the live game

[spoiler] lions arch actually looked like this (or something like this) in release. it was destroyed in living world season 1 in 2014 and rebuilt in 2015 into what it is now (lw season 1 is pretty much ignored, but someone could consider this spoiler lol)
Zaithan looked awesome in the teaser and in the finsihed game he looked weird af.
10 years and i still love this game.
Watching this again after playing for 5 years, game went through a ton of changes before final release, congrats on 5 years Anet, been playing since day 1, love the birthday gifts :)

I've actually had this game for about three weeks now. As a casual, and usually solo gamer, I really like this game for the challenging way the world is set. From the Waypoints, the intuitive AI, the Storyline that I'm immersed with and the Artwork that I get lost in; I really enjoy this game more then WoW (which I have played from BC to Cat). The Events, and the Quest system are great; and the PvP system doesn't feel rushed to top out at the max level to play.
So, 10 years it is since. What an amazing journey.
That moment when the original Guild Wars theme kicks in is such a dopamine rush. My siblings and I spent so much time on Prophecies. Literal YEARS were spent on each of our characters, and when I found out a sequel was coming I remember counting down the days until release.
I was in high school when it came out and i didn't have a PC of my own. Our old desktop gave up the ghost and died 1 month before Guild Wars 2 came out, and i remember my parents didn't want to spend money on an expensive computer just so we could play games on it.
So eventually I moved on and forgot about GW2, finished school, settled down, had a kid. Now, over a decade later, UA-cam brings me back here, and I remember my childhood dreams of this game. Gonna download it tonight and see what I've been missing.

@@AlperenDogan-MI well I'm enjoying it so far though there are a few things I don't like. I miss the inclusion of actual cutscenes. Having them replaced by just two character models facing each other has got me a bit underwhelmed. Also having story missions locked under level requirements that I have to grind for disincentives me from playing. Especially since usual sidequests are replaced with those little hearts that you fill up with repetitive tasks.
I DO like the characters and I'm intrigued by the story and where its going. Thackeray feels like he's meant to be the new Rurik, and he's written likable enough to pull it off. The voice work is all pretty decent and I love the updated, more active combat system. I'm hoping that things will pick up more as I progress.
@@SympatheticStrawman Not to worry, the Living Story episodes have some cutscenes, and they still go for the animated painting look. It's pretty good.

i remember when it first hit 50k views...it took weeks...2 years later, its now 12x that, and hopefully still increasing. And it deserves every view, every like, every penny.
This is literally the best MMO on the planet, better than world of warcraft or any of that crap

WoW is a noob fest for casuals who gets the epics thrown at them.
For me, ESO is actually the best IMO, but GW2 is a VERY close second.
LOL World of Warcraft has MAYBE ~5 million active subscribers. MAYBE. Probably not even that anymore. There's a reason Blizzard doesn't release subscriber numbers anymore.
As for Guild Wars 2, there were over 5 million copies sold before the base game went F2P, and I can definitely imagine that those numbers skyrocketed after it went F2P thanks to its extremely praised gameplay and business model. At peak concurrency BEFORE F2P, the game had over 460,000 online. I doubt WoW has had that since 2010-2012, except maybe on expansion release days.
I probably watched this a 100 times when I was younger. I was so hyped for this game. Finally came back after a 6 year hiatus.

That moment the artwork has changed to realtime 3D brought tears to my eyes more than a decade ago. I've decided to return to the game after a longer hiatus. This time started with a Charr necromancer
I'm from the future. The game is out and still awesome to this day. But I have sad news about Lion's Arch.
Eleven plus years after release and this game is still going strong. The GW2 developers are willing to try new things and take the MMORPG genre into places that it’s never been before. Some ideas are great and others are less so, but it’s good to have something different than most other games in this genre. If only Arenanet had a marketing team and strategy, plus the budget to implement it.
The art design is awesome!

3:49 never made it into the game right? I think I would remember such a thing. Maybe that was the interpretation of the dragon in the ground in Guild Wars 1 and then only later in development became Kralkatorrik which then flew away. hmm
But man this was so hype. When the concept art turned into ingame graphics I was so blown away back in the day. Couldnt believe it. GW1 always had grear concept art but ingame you had to use your imagination to fill out the gaps. GW2 then just actually made them real. Still gives me goosebumps

Even if I don't play the game at the moment, it stays my MMO by heart. I will come back eventually since the 3rd expansion will arrive by the end of february 2022.
That's the great thing about Guild Wars 2, you pay once and you can come and go when ever you have time.

I first made an account when living world season 1 was releasing, got left behind by my friends and just stopped playing at around level 50. for the next 6 years I completely forgot the game even existed until someone in a discord server said they played it and I remembered I had an account.
Ive put thousands of hours in since then. The game is solid and there is tons of content please advertise the game more!

8 years already, still my favor MMORPG game.
Now that we are only 1 week away from head start I have been watching the old videos. Can't believe we will soon be playing this for real.
The playable races are: Charr, Norn (eotn bear shapeshifters), Humans (in GW), Slyvari (fae folk), and the Asura (little people). And those aren't robots, they're golems, earth constructs or automata. Kinda steampunkish my thoughts. I'm very excited personally.

Don't forget that this is most likely a pre-alpha version of the game. They are going to change and improve the graphics, when Aion goes into open beta in less than 2 weeks and is pretty much finalised in terms of graphics.
We expect GW to come around 2010-2011. It's alot of time in which alot of improvements can be done in any aspect of the game.

About time. This is real. Improved graphic engine, while still keeping true to the original GW1 graphic art and style. I am trusting ArenaNet for staying devoted to the game-play mechanics as well.

Entirely seperate. So you don't need your old account, though if you had Eye of the North you could have kinda "mix the accounts", meaning that you can send some items such as mini pets, elite armors, titles, heroes and some weapons to Guild Wars 2 via Hall of Monuments(in the Eye of the North). They'll be in one way rare, since it's the only way to acquire those items.
As SolBadguyXX mentioned the music at 3:46, I too think it's epic. Reminds me of the Eye of the North theme. ^^
The redesign of Caithe was such a good idea.
This teaser trailer shows when GW2 was still on track to be a worthy successor of GW1. What came out in the end after countless redesigns and story changes cannot even compare.

My thoughts: The Charr appear to be heavily industrial and might be using primitive guns, as evident by the weapon one of them is wielding at 1:55.
Jeremy Soule is awesome.
Norns are as badass as ever, what with the RARGH BEAR SPIRIT GIVE ME STRENGTH.
The graphics do not appear to have changed much and the Asurans are babyfaced people living with golems.
ArenaNet have said that it will be less instanced and will be soloable, but groups will still be encouraged, hence the name Guild Wars.
Also, MMORPG is a genre. What you're thinking of is a game type. So many MMORPG's today are WoW-type games that it's hard to distinguish them.
When this trailer came out I was still in college...man...so many years have passed. But why is this in my recommended list, after having been playing this game for almost six years?! (Twelve if I count GW1)
wish you guys had chosen a stylized graphic style, the one you use for splash arts and the rytlock cinematic for heart of thorns cinematic is truly a work of art, that way your game could remain visally stuning for years to come, it is even more beautiful than most "stylized" including world of warcraft´s
