So how does the speaker translate to Pete's favorite the impulse response? IMO traditional recordings easily beat impulse responses anyday. If you have questions refer to the 60's and 70's.

The Belle Epoch Deluxe is in my opinion the most realistic sounding EP-3 emulation out there. I own a real one and having tried many including the El Cap, the Belle Epoch Deluxe is pretty damn close, if not, spot on.

Dan meant that the Volante has both drum and tape, not that the binson had both.
Yea. I was like...um they’re talking about two different things. Lol

Things got a bit confusing at 3:00: Pete is right, the Binson isn’t tape, it’s magnetic wire on a drum, but I think Dan was talking about the Volante being drum and tape.
Actully listening again it sounds like Dan does think the Binson has tape. 3:40 Nope!

It's funny to watch Pete navigate around someone being "long winded* with such care, always trying to get to the point and wrangle the conversation back in between the rambling of his co host. With all due respect for both hosts in this video. Great video, great playing. Thanks!
Have not tried the Dunlop Pedal, but I have tried a Beta Version of the Strymon that a friend had, and I own the Catalinbread Pedal. If you like the Roland Space Echo, than the HiFi-ness of the Strymon is what you what. I wanted more of the Echoplex sound so I went with the Catalinbread. I run mine at 18 volts.
Pete, even cooler than the quality of this great pedal review is getting to watch/hear you both noodle about in your epically musical way, AND see you get inspired, and then crack off a killer soundscape moment (I had my arms in the air at the end of the last one! Hah!) Dan, thanks for all the great info about these pedals and of course your pedal show. Both of you keep up the great work, we really appreciate it!

Two of the biggest and best gearhead players out there, fantastic as always!

MXR Echoplex sounds great but not the best build quality. Mine made a clicking sound through my amp when I turned it on/off and the light stopped working after 2 months. Belle Epoch sounds fantastic but no tap tempo. Not even on the Deluxe. El Cap is the clear winner for me. Most tweakable of the three, has tap tempo, and you can control any knob with an expression pedal. I’m very happy with it.
I want the Echoplex delay and preamp all in one pedal.

My favorite guitar geeks with Internation flare - the Australian who lives in the UK, and the Canadian who lives in the US. A great representation of how music has no boarders! And the pedal comparison was good, and never thought of combining delays. Great application of these pedals.
When i built for Diaz, i had a Diaz TWIN ( 5F6 circuit) Stuck a Boss HM-2 in front n had instant Eric Johnson, sometimes u NEVER know what will happen! :) Thaz TONE!
On my studio monitors..Strymon still the sweetest. :)
The delay I want is the Belle Epoch Deluxe, but it is damn pricey. The analog circuitry in it is the EP-3 pretty much exactly, with just the echo being done by digital. I think it is as close as I will get to the EP-3 boosting effect as possible without actually having one. The reason I haven't got it yet is because I am not sure I will use it a lot, because I just want to do that Dazed And Confused thing etc. But who knows, the preamp might be so good I never turn it off.
3 years too late but they're going for around $225 used on reverb right now, I just bought one today lol

Another great Tape-dealy simulation pedal is the Carl Martin DelaylaXL (or the newer one, the echohead, that has some extra/different features). It´s only downside is the size of the thing, but you only have two knobs (Feedback and level for the main echo, speed is done via tap, the other knobs are for the additional second delay-head). So you cannot tweak it as much as these three, but it just sounds awesome.
Love this stuff, The 2 Masters , in so many ways and Together, Teaching us and the Kids what some Teachers just can’t Teach, but Heh , that’s Rock n Roll .. Kids ..🤣😂🤣😂👍🏻🌞❤️⭐️🌞

Love my El Cap but I’m open to an alternative with a smaller footprint. Not sure if anything else would make me as happy though.

I absolutely love these informative videos, I always seem to learn something new.
I like all 3 pedals a lot but for my simple needs I’d probably go with the Dunlop. Although I just got an email from Catalinbread and they have B stock pedals on sale. The Belle Epoch is only $157.49 so it’s very tempting. Maybe I’ll end up with that one, who knows. Honestly I’d be happy with any of them.

Wow, this stacking echo's/ delay pedals sounds good. I am in to saving money for the Lillian phaser. I really like Lillian. But with other words. I have the Boss RE-20, so it is also possible to find a second hand delay pedal (like DD3) next to it, to create a phasing effect!? Stacking delay pedals sounds more fun to me than spending a lot of extra money on effect pedals.

I just decided to keep the Echorec and sell my Capistan. I probably have a terrible ear but just couldn't dial in a tone that blew me away on the Capistan, Echorec just sounds warmer and better to me with just the single head setting. Unfortunately now I will drive myself to insanity trying to decide which of the 12 modes I like best.
It would be great to have a show on how to arrange delay pedals on pedalboards, and what the possibilities are. What is the really pro way to buy and arrange delays to give you a really strong capability range for copping lots of famous tunes?
Hey Pete! I´ve noticed you have a 5-way switch in that HH Shur, is it a super switch? Do you split coils? What combinations do you use or finde most useful? Excellent video!

The MXR and the Catlinbread individually sounded better than the El Cap, but all together sounded excellent
But the reverb on the El Cap sounds pretty sweet
I knew that the MXR/Dunlop Ep-103 would make an appearance z and there's nothing better than being surrounded by Tuba Drivers.

Guys Good video .. except ONE big factor, after watching entire Video YOU NEVER mentioned what PEDALS U were using. Name the pedals ! I Like the 1st and second one BUT what were THeY ???Jim 50 year semi pro player. Lake Wales Florida. retire engineer, General Motors and sound engineer for many bands. .

EL Cap... is too clean . IMHO.
The Echoplex - a bit sharp.
Belle Epoque - amazingly warm - may be loud.

The Bellypock sounded best, IMO, but why not demo the Bellypock Deluxe which is more versatile and betterer in many ways, particularly its fabulous EP pre-amp clone than the older, more limited pedal? This subject needs more time.
