Mick here, hello! Dan and I attended Thomann Gear University in June 2019 which was a great hang with a truly splendid bunch of humans. I wanted to take a small pedalboard configured wet/dry… so we made this.
This video documents that, including a couple of guests and a ‘secret’ new amp. Hmmm.
Enjoy the video.
Thank you to Kris Barocsi… : / @krisbarocsi

You both, Dan & Mick, just add a deeper dimension to my life. As a busy widower with 3 children here in Southern California. The free time is rejoiced in it's full extent by pausing from my activities and soaking in your knowledge on pedals etc....a treat! Thank you. Blessings to you all!
@@williamcampbell7387 Bill, pushing forward and with a cheerful heart. I grew up as a rancher.... worked at Warner Bros. Hollywood for decades...now retired in my early 50's and Mr. Mom. I'm thankful to the good Lord. You be blessed.
Wow!! Thanks ever so much for including me in your amazing video series! Loved that Pedal Board! The way you split the sounds with the Wet/Dry was absolutely superb! You guys really know your stuff!! By the way that Tele Thinline was a truly amazing Guitar! Great times my friends!
Ah cheers Warren, a pleasure to see you geez. :0) We should so do something!
@@ThatPedalShow Yes!! Let's do something together soon!!
@@Producelikeapro do it!!!
@@ThatPedalShow I would watch that!
@@Producelikeapro YES! setting up, recording and mixing guitar tones? what a guitarist is looking for from a producer and vice versa? how to develop a British accent and take over the internet? Love the TPS and PLAP channels, thanks for all the hard work guys!
Dan and Mick, converting the world to wet/ dry one player at a time
I am now
Try using the smallest crappiest solid state amp you have for your second amp. You won't be disappointed!
Guys, thank you thank you thank you and thank you for this unforgettable experience! I had goosebumps once again watching this episode. Haha!
I will wet-dry the heck out of my next gig in a few days. Love you guys, please keep on inspiring us players! Cheers, Kris
Yeah baby! Always great to hang Kris. Get wet dry man! X
Thanks for sharing with all of us what this experience was like for you and how it affected your playing. While I too always watch these shows with my best headphones, I know that experience can't possibly compare to what your experiencing in the room. I especially appreciate what you said about how the sound influenced what you felt inspired to play and how it actually freed you up to go places you don't normally go to musically. I think that was the strongest testament I have heard for how a great sound can influence your playing and overall enjoyment of it. Glad the guys got together with you there.
WhoWouldWantThisName ah man it’s my pleasure! I’m happy it came through. Every player should experience this!
Man, I get excited when a new TPS UA-cam notification come onto my phone.
Mick talking with rain and thunder in the background is the closest to ASMR I will partake in .
A whole moment of luggage talk. Don't change, it's the incidental chat between the stated topic which can prove to be engaging.
Awesome guys, Kris' face when he first hears it, priceless. I think we need a recap on running two amps, the safety aspect and ABY boxes, from decent to top end, I'm sure there are lots of us out there that have a few amps but are unsure about connecting them for a wet/dry combo without turning into Doc Emmett Brown at the clock tower.
Awesome! The smiles on Chris and Warren's faces said it all. You can't fake that stuff :)
Really appreciate the context provided by another really great backing track for the jam at the end, and there was even whiff of coiffure shaking from Mick there too. 👍
I wanna be like Mick. Your passion and skill as a player is UNREAL. I can't get through a single episode without breaks every 5 minutes to play. You guys are so inspiring!
Dan plays some EPIC stuff here! Harmonic hitters! And Mick at the end.... BONKERS
Nicholas Dentato yes, this was some of the best playing from Dan ever recorded on the channel imo!
Wow! Just wow! Great content throughout, loved seeing (and hearing) the reactions of the guys experiencing wet/dry for the first time. But Mick, your playing at the end was out of this world!!! Get over here and give me some man love you rocking stud! That was incredible!!! Great video from start to finish.
Several takeaways from this vlog!
1. Wet/dry is amazing!
2. I wish I had a Store like that where I live!
3. I got a couple new UA-cam channels to watch!
4. How about Micks playing at the end there! That was tasty!
5. I will be able to sleep better after this pickup shootout!
Thanks for always opening our eyes to properly using our gear and constantly inspiring me to make better tone!
Gotta say I really like the "extra" content on TPS. Has such a casual feel to it.
Thanks Yuppi! We both enjoy the vlog stuff. The pace is more conducive to being human I find.
Huge thumbs up Guys! I've cobbled together my amps and am beginning to sort out the Wet Dry sound to experience it for myself. Thanks for the inspiration! Your videos have gone into a whole new level! You're really setting the bar for yourselves very high. Content like yours is now the standard!
What I really find inspiring (after still playing / writing / recording daily since +35 years) is your enthusiasm and your joy in playing, and fiddling with all things guitar. I am so glad this will never stop. Cheers!
Mick,
Your playing near the end of the video was amazing. You play with such feel and inspire me to play and practice more!
Thank you sir! And greetings to one of the only other Dunstans I’ve heard of. A really great friend of mine from school has a brother named Dunstan. Cheers!
To coin.a street term I wait every week to get my fix. Thank you, you have inspired my playing, gear choices and helped with how to make it all work. TPS Dan and Mick = Amazing!
I never heard warren play before. I can’t say I’m surprised because he is a talented guy, but wow he is good.
He had some chops!
22:20 Warren!!!! You should do a full episode with Warren! He's amazing.
It would be, MARVELOUS!
I didn't know he can play!
That’s actually Carl verheyan wearing a wig
@@rmcunningham3874 yeah... i mean i expected that he could play some basic stuff being a producer... but the guy has some serious chops!
EPIC sounding board. So much in such a small space, brilliant!
Nice track and jam! Yes, there are some interesting things in there. Can't wait to hear about the new amp.
Great info, great sounds! Love the joy jam at the end!
The mix balance is perfect! Bravo!
If anyone was ever on the fence about buying a Supro Tremolo, this video should put any doubts to rest. Fantastic episode and Mick, that was some of the greatest playing I've ever heard from you there at the end. Bravo!
Dan has been practicing for What I can tell, his playing at around 20 is amazing, especially that first clean run. Mick killed it in around 40, your playing stiles complement each other in my view. You guys sold me on the wet dry thing and I did what I could with the rig I have. I know you all know how much home space gear takes and how hard it can be to make the wife get along with it. Keep up the good work guys
Love these “Micks vlogs” and cant wait for the rest of the series of the strat evolution! 🤟🏻🎸
That Jam with the backing track at the end really hit the spot with me. Awesome.
Thank you!
Paul is a lucky, lucky man getting hold of that tele. What a guitar.
Before TPS I’d never heard of a wet/dry rig. I wasn’t one for stereo, so I just ran all effects into one amp. It was fine, but I just never felt I was getting the ‘most’ out of my modulation or time domain effects... because I had to keep the mix down to get clarity.
Now- each pedal is performing at its peak, and the clarity doesn’t suffer. It also somehow allows my drive pedals to sound so much fuller!!!!!
Thank you guys for steering me towards the best sound I’ve ever gotten... and also giving me reason to buy a couple more amps!!!!! 😉
Cheers!!!!!!
That jam at the end by mick was the most inspiring I've heard from him in the dozens of episodes I've watched... and now I need to buy a harmonic tremolo. So amazing.
I love these vlogs. Thanks, Mick!
Love this so much! Both your playing in this video was top notch fellas! Dan was in a zone when playing with the wet dry rig. I need to do this with my 68 custom vibrolux! Looking forward to that pickup video mick!
Luke Colombo
I really want a Vibrolux, Love that sound.
It seems a perfect amp for Wet Dry, or Wet Dry Wet.
CorbCorbin it is lovely! It was my first tube amp and it’s so nice! Definitely recommend
Mick! Yeah baby! That was rockin' - video and playing.
I literally cannot wait to see the secret amp... That color is GORGEOUS 😯
Wow, Mick - amazing vlog. I can’t express how much I liked this video.
Love the look on Chris's face (and the sound :) when you you kicked in the dry amp👍🎸
Mick, what you are able to squeeze out of that small board and handful of pedals, along with your might tasty style of playing ........ simply amazing and very very inspiring! Thanks :-)
Always awe inspiring, gents. Great vid
Really enjoyed the playing here boys. Superb
Mick your playing is truely getting seriously awesome! Mega impressive mate! Adam
Thank you sir!
Nice fade to the Strat at 39:06! Wow, I'm always so impressed/inspired by, and so enjoy Mick's, Dan's and their guests' playing (and Dan's transports to other dimensions)! Amazing! Thanks!
Great episode.....sounds fantastic!!!
Great video again, guys. Inspired me to look at how I can minimize my board even more if you’re getting great tones from what you have there. Might need to look at that D&M Drive again too. Cheers.
Awesome playing Mick. Big sound
I’ve been a fan for a couple of years, but the show keeps getting better and better. The recent content is amazing!
Some much needed diversion and entertainment during what have been a depressing couple of weeks.
Thank you so much!
Alex, Mick here. As somebody who has met the black dog and feeds the bastard biscuits regularly, I feel you. Peace to you man. I’ve discovered that happiness might not be the goal I thought it was. But peace is absolutely attainable. Best to you!
That Pedal Show thanks Mick, that means the world to me!
Find joy in the small things and the bigger & better things will follow (eventually) - or so I’ve been told.
Cheers,
Alex
I’ve watched this channel for years and I have never seen such an absolutely STELLAR level of playing as in this video - and that only further makes the case for wet/dry! Watching Mick let loose at the end says it all (as Chris said) a good sound gets you a better player.
Cheers guys, keep at it!!
Ah man, thank you Hunter!
What a great blog. Loved hearing Warren and Kris playing a wet/dry rig for the first time. Can’t believe they were virgins. Would be great to see Warren to work with you guys on recording the various signal chains setups you guys work with - see him overlay plugins and outboard gear to further enhance your setups in a mix. That would be a great series! As always - grateful for the content you create.
About the gear-making-you-play-better/different point: Ever since I started guitar about a decade ago, I was primarily a metal player with the occasional drifting into punk rock at most. However, in the last year or so I started playing around with different sounds and amps in my Axe-Fx III (sorry, can't afford fifty tube amps worth 2000 quid each) and I can now pretty much say I am a blues player more than a metal player. My vocabulary is rather intermediate but each day I spend playing tweed amps, blackfaces, and other boutique amp models, I am discovering blues playing that I never knew I had in me. Of course, watching you guys makes it even more fun to play a whole genre that I didn't dare touch before this. (I discovered your channel at pretty much the same time as I started playing those different amp models, so there is definitely a correlation there.)
Great Vid! ABSOLUTELY LOVE the your playing at the end of the video Mick! Keep it up! great Feelz!
Thank you sir!
Sweet playing in there... really great soulful tones ..
Great playing, great sounds! I'm definitely building a harmonic tremolo after hearing that one!
Ahhh harmonic tremolo is just the best.
It really is! I brought my walrus monument to an open jam last week I barely turned it off lol
GingerFingers yes that Tremolo was quite Monumental 😎
Definitely hearing a difference in your playing both, more time in the shed I'll wager? Thanks for all you do!
A great vid. And nice to see so relaxed at end.
Thanks for this video, very inspiring. After seeing quite a few of your videos of the Supro Tremolo I couldn't resist & have ordered one today!
Yeah baby! Enjoy!
Best video yet!!!!! Can’t wait to do this!
That jam was awesome
heartwarming stuff this, its all about the sharing and giving,
chapau to to you both, this show is more than the sum of its parts ,
Mick's in the groove and I love it! I need to watch another video on the humdinger in relation to phase stuff
Dan's idea of foreplay..... is wiring up a pedal board ……...LOL
dave late 😂😂
Really enjoyed this episode, great example of using a smaller pedal board for a short trip away, fantastic playing by Mick at the end, he was really getting into it!, ultra cool grooves 😁
Oh my oh my. Seriously Mick that’s some of the greatest playing you have ever done on this channel. Obviously helped by the set up and THAT harmonic tremolo but ladies and gents banking tracks are what it’s all about now folks. Oh yes, oh yes, oh yesirtee yes!
My 2nd cab has just turned up today.. cannot wait to try the wet-dry thing at the next gig :-)
Loved the Jam at the end! Nice one, Mick
Thank you Onion. :0)
@@ThatPedalShow Yeah Mick - you are Killing It with your Jams. Great stuff brother. "Tasty Playing"
Lots of FUN with multiple Amps, CoOL Mick !!!
Don’t forget More is Always BeTter !!!
That's a lovely little board!
Watching from Lucca oh how I wish I had one of those small boards with me, great selection of pedals
I play a small wet dry rig for a year now, thanks to you guys!
I wish my little pedalboard was that amazing. That is very nice.
I must know what that brown Victory cab is... More specifically, what it's meant to be paired with!!!
We better not have to wait until next namm to find out!
Excellent vid, thanks guys. Absolutely loved the piece starting 35:22. The Warthog is awesome too.
Mick at 40:00 til the end was epic. Completely blown away. Killer, killer sounds & inspiring playing there man. Loved it.
-Aaron
Ah man, thank you!
It’s already been said, Mick, but your playing on the outro jam was really sensational; and a wonderful way of demonstrating how the right sound/rig/set up can inspire a person to play with genuine abandon (less inhibition) and spark creativity.
Thank you kindly Tim. There’s no doubt that sound gives you the confidence to just hang it out a bit. It’s what we live for. :0)
So cool you had Warren on the show. I'm a big fan of his channel as well. A collaboration between you two would be fantabulous!
Mick, that lick you played when swapping back to the strat at the end was so rad!
Thank you! I think it was an add nine thing - like 9, 5, 1 of each chord, then I missed the one of the last one and hit a semi tone down (which would be 7). Sounded angular. :0)
Whatever it is, I just spent the evening learning and playing around it! Really nice outside playing and thanks for the explanation!
Great vlog, so much fun watching those guys wet their pants over the wet dry thing. You made a really sweet little board there, man it sure inspired the heck out of Dan! Magical playing there, wow. You seemed pretty inspired there at the end yourself. great to see!
I'm really looking forward to your pickups vlog too!
Props to you for using the Neutrik Silent plug cable at the end! That thing is truly one of the most revolutionary things in cables in the last few years that is still kind of floating under the radar of most people.
I’ve been using it for nearly 10 years. Totally expected it to have broken by now. It’s great design!
Get Vlog Mick. And awsome jam at the end!
Excellent vlog
I am working on putting a "basics" board together, then adding a daughter board for anything special.
I may be rethinking that for a wet/dry small board now.
Thanks for posting this
Love that idea...
Looking forward to your pickups vlog!
Good fun on a rainy day!
That Austin Pride pedal is freaking beautiful..... I don't even care what it does, I need that. And Dan is playing Paul David's Telecaster LOL. Great video and amazing sound.
This Is A SHOW ! !
the best work of the last few years Sorry if I tell you, but this is how I perceived! ... truly a beautiful "trip", true, precise and direct, with a lot of expressiveness and sincerity! beautiful!
P.s.
finally I saw you move your jaw!
:)
Mick's hands on fire...!! I can feel how inspiring is the wet dry rig..!
It really is. When I bang on about getting rid of digital and being truly connected, this is what I mean. (Yes, I know both the delays are digital!)
@@ThatPedalShow Yes, delays are digital, but I think that delays and some moduation that split the signal, don't effect on the "true analog tone" so much. For dinamic effects it's different. It's only my humble opinion, but if something sounds good other stuff doesn't matter. Guitar, pedals, effects, amps, are a help to get inspired, but on this way there are an evil enemy: preconceptions
Epic jam Dan! 👍🤘
really enjoyed Warren’s brief appearance & playing!
Loving that playing at the 35 to 40 minute mark, sooo good.
Thank you!
Love a vlog!
Epic sounds in this board, guys! I just love it when Dan phases out and gets lost in the tone. 😂 I’ve just bought another amp and I’m about to experiment with w/d for the first time. I’m kind of nervous about it!
That blue strat with the matching headstock behind you is gorgeous
So many great guitars there.....
WARREN! :D Not a cameo I was expecting! lol Anyway, sounds great (of course), guys!
Non sequitur, but I was just in Tokyo and tried some custom Japanese Moon guitars, T and S style and I was literally blown away by the feel, sound, build quality and design choices. I think you guys should go to Japan! Beautiful things happen over there.
Warren's a very classy player, and a bit outside the usual for TPS. A good choice of guest. Love the SA250 too, but a bit beyond my wallet right now. Great work as ever guys.
Really loved Warren's playing. Had a "Jazz" feel to it. I believe he is a guitarist first and producer second but he's tasty on the guitar - for sure.
Absolutely BRILLIANT playing Mick, very inspiring indeed, I’m off to split a signal right now. Cheers Thanks guys. Marty from Melbourne.
Wow, thanks Martin!
Great rig! Simple straightforward and I love the effects you choose. Expression pedal is awesome on the Belle delay. I’ll have to watch this video again see how this beast was created (components to make it happen)? I am close to having the parts?
I loved your jam! Try a DOD Carcosa...? Not boutique, but really adjustable. It cleans up nicely with the guitar volume depending on the level of mayhem you have dialed in. Fun.
I recently decided to give wet/dry a go (definitely a budget version).
It's just blown my mind, it's the sound ive been chasing without even realising!
Guess it's time to go down that rabbit hole (:
Thank you for the inspiration!
Yes!
Damn big headed strats are cool!
That tele is a thing of beauty
Is that Paul Davids new guitar I spy?
Yarb!
I think so! I was just gonna comment on that!
lol, there's a video where Pete Thorn plays it and you can see Paul Davids staring at it!
oh, man... i was gonna say that!
I'm glad he got it in the end.
Goodonya Dan for loosening your grip on it ... 👍
