  • We brought Phil Illy back for the launch his book: Autoheterosexual: Attracted to Being the Other Sex. Available today as a paperback, with the ebook and hardcover available on Tuesday, June 13th.
    Here is what our own Aaron Terrell had to say about Autoheterosexual, "Expertly researched yet entirely accessible to any layperson interested in this topic. Illy explores the most common type of gender dysphoria with compassion and clarity...You will come away from this book with a much deeper understanding of the human experience at the heart of this current cultural phenomenon."
    Head over to Amazon (t.co/sVsGOmehu9) where you can purchase your copy as well as read reviews from other friends of the pod, including Dr. Michael Bailey.
    --------
    Phil Illy is an autoheterosexual author who, in his words, “aims to mainstream autoheterosexuality and destigmatize it so that more of his kind can jettison shame and live in union with their inner cross-gender spirit.”
    Prior to writing Autoheterosexual: Attraction to Being the Other Sex, Phil received degrees in physics and mechanical engineering before retiring to Portland, Oregon, where he became best known for his skill at handstand twerking and juggling hula hoops.
    Where to Find Phil:
    Twitter: / autogynephilic
    Substack: phililly.subst...
    PayPal: paypal.me/phil...
    Some terms and references are used in this episode that may not be clear to the average listener. Here is a brief glossary of terms:
    "Allo" means other, or external.
    "Auto" means self, or internal.
    "Gyno" means female.
    "Andro" means male.
    "Philia" means love (or, less euphemistically, sexual attraction).
    "Meta" means self-referential
    The vast majority of people are, in sexologic terms, alloheterosexual. A typical heterosexual male is technically "allogynephilic". But a male who is attracted to the thought or image of himself as female is "autogynephilic", while a female who is attracted to herself as male is "autoandrophilic". These last two are what our guest has termed "autoheterosexual".
    The final term above, meta, is used in this context to describe the type of external sexual behaviors of autoheterosexuals, who often experience (and act upon) homosexual desires as a means of validating their self-perception as the opposite sex. For example, an autogynephilic male is not attracted to other males (not alloandrophilic), but sexual behavior with males serves as a validation of the self as female. That is metaandrophilia.

    Am I the only one who thinks being an autoerotic homosexual is kind of cool? Imagine being a lesbian and being your girlfriend or being a gay dude who's basically a living Narcissus. I don't think recognizing their autogayness will make them be more stigmatized than they already are.
    Being openly autoheterosexual is very different. Not only you'll need medical transition, you'll be discriminated against in a way normal straight people aren't

    Lots of butches were not really gay and those are the ones who end up with men after transition. You could tell before they transitioned. Something was “off” about how they related sexually to women. I love this whole conversation because i swear to god i have seen this happening for more than 20 years. It makes me feel a lot better and less grief about how all the lesbians disappeared, most where not gay to start.

      I have a gut feeling that there's (almost) no homosexual transsexual in the West anymore. They're probably all autoerotic straights who, in other times, would live as gay people because of meta-attraction (homosexual behavior for validation of one's autoherosexual identity).

    "Lesbian" social critic Camille Paglia had gender dysphoria as a young woman. I always thought she had homosexual GD, but I started to think she's autohomoerotic since I saw her declaring on Charlie Rose the tragedy of her life was not being born a gay man.
    Joan Rivers gave an interview for "The Advocate" saying she always fell in love with feminine (gay) boys and even copied their fashion style. I don't think that's normal female heterosexuality, but I may be wrong. Also, on June, 05, 2012 Howard Stern show, Joan said she was a "gay man in a woman's body".
    Jack Donovan seems to be a man with AAP (and narcissistic personality). Even though Jack is openly homosexual, he has been popular in the alt-right movement and sold tens of thousands of books promising to teach men masculinity. His more recent humorous personality makes theirs products sound like they were publicity stunt all along, though.

      Paglia could be using the term “gender dysphoria” loosely in reference to her rebellion against feminine norms in her youth. and she probably made the Charlie Rose remark because of her cultural affinity with gay men rather than because she is attracted to them, I would think
      Donovan definitely screams AAP

      @@user-ks8wn1gn2m What does Donovan have to do to "screaming AAP"? Cut his balls off? Copy Blaire White? Your people are insane. The two women on the video scream more AAP than a gay man that doesn't want to imitate women just because he accepts himself as a man.

      @@user-ks8wn1gn2m I don't think you understand we have 0 evidence about AAP. A drag queen can still embrace clothes and hobbies worn and done by straight men, especially if they promote sanity. Why do trans allies want to divide society betweem very feminine and very masculine people with gays on the pink side? Are you receiving money from GAMPs and Big Pharma?

    Always fascinating conversations. Aaron K is correct in pointing out caution regarding unproven diagnostic categories. Aaron T is correct in his assessment of ROGD being social and ideological not AAP. Phil contributes his great curiosity for all things trans. Although, I'm not so convinced that AAP is as clear cut as AGP. I don't think FtMs can be so easily corralled. I had early onset gender dysphoria and chose to medicalise as an adult - I don't fit into any of the existing gender dysphoric categories. I think it's a body map issue. I brought my body into alignment with some internal blueprint. Much food for thought in this episode. Thanks.

    Thank you for an interesting discussion Aaron, Aaron & Phil. I've just ordered your book on Kindle Phil and look forward to reading it. I think it is important to understand men with AGP without monstering them, but having AGP does not make a man a woman (I'm a woman, my kid keeps changing my name on here to post her videos!) I would be interested to know if any research has been done on the cross over between having AGP and narcissism. I think the more vocal trans rights activists are probably AGP and Narcissistic and for them the refusal to accept their fantasy as reality elicits narcissistic rage - Anne Lawrence wrote about this.
    Thanks for all you do Aaron & Aaron, and for your work too Phil.

    Concerned that the author is not an expert but speaking as one. Interesting and plausible but still.. Your channel is an awesome resource but having clarity that Phil is trying to help but that this is a hypothesis or theory, is also important. To both Aaron's tysm for sharing these vulnerabilities as well.. I too agree it will go a long way to inform those not as well equipped with the information and reality you both share. Aaron's pushback about the female brain and their perception is also extremely helpful here. Aaron K's reminder to be curious but that this diagnosis and differentiation is not written in stone is also very appreciated.

    Totally taken aback by so much of this discussion🤔 A lot to take in TBH
    Perhaps looking up "meta-attraction" and "allo sexual" and listening over a second time
    Having heard a tiny bit of reports of AAP but never ever in this kind of detail, this was deeply intriguing. Many thoughts are swirling about some among the transmen I've met.
    Thanks for having this open and candid and surprising talk 🤲

    Hi, Aaron Terrel. I see you posted a text I wrote on your twitter account a couple of days ago. The text in question is titled "Having a male body feels disgusting". You seem to have misunderstood me. I am not AGP, and I am not 18 years old. The text is about something that happened when I was that age. Your audience also seems to be confused about where does my text talk about gender dysphoria, and the fact is that it does, but the paragraph isn't shown in your excerpt. I hope you could clear up the misunderstanding, since you've shown what I wrote to an audience of hundreds of thousands of twitter accounts. While my attitude towards AGPs is neutral, I wish that trans lesbian and bisexual women like me could not be associated with this term, since each one of us have a personal experience of gender dysphoria. GCs specially should stop calling trans lesbians AGPs. If someone chooses to identify as an AGP, that's on them, I have nothing to do with it. I do NOT agree to have my story used for your personal political agenda.

    40:29 Some bearded ladies really resent gay men being ranked above even female HSTS in the masculinity scale. I've never experienced normal straight men discussing why some gay men are masculine. The people doing are always those who want to divide society between "woman lovers" and "man lovers" and assign femininity to the second group. Who are these people? Transsexuals and the insecure men who love them. You've had one of these men on your channel.

  • @John-tr5hn
    @John-tr5hn Рік тому +3

    Phil seems way out of his depth. The fact that he hadn't thought about why huge numbers of natal females are suddenly identifying as trans shows me that he's not a very deep or systematic thinker. I believe he feels exactly the way that he feels, but like many people who consider themselves experts, he's very good at understanding his own experience but woeful at understanding or even predicting other people's. Really, he believes tens of thousands of prepubescent girls are transitioning for sexual reasons? Those same girls who cannot even accept the reality that they'll start menstruating and becoming targets of unwanted male attention? Those same girls? C'mon, Phil.
    And yes, race is a complete social construct, but unlike sex, it actually doesn't even exist, because there's no way to determine what "race" a person is, because it's not encoded in any way. So no, people can't "change" their race, because their race doesn't actually exist.

    • @chilo8187
      @chilo8187 Рік тому +7

      I think it’s a mixed bag. The girls transitioning are not doing so for just one reason. Some have BPD or sexual or other trauma, some are AAP (which isn’t purely “sexual” in the sense that AGP isn’t purely sexual, not to mention that male and female sex drives and impulses are different which is why AAP wouldn’t be as sex driven as AGP is in some cases but more romantic/emotional), some are lesbians with gender dysphoria, some are autistic, and some may be a combination of few of these things.

    According to the statistics, its' women who watch and prefer porn that is violent. Men prefer porn that is voyeristic.

    • @Spacy-Paws
      @Spacy-Paws Рік тому

      I'd like to see where those statistics are. I listened to a podcast (I think it was Megan Murphy) where this claim was discussed and it related to one porn star/sex worker doing a survey on her social media, so not an academic study. Where the sample comes from matters. How many women watch porn compared to how many men? What ages? If the sample was 80 out of 100 women who watch porn prefer violent porn, compared with 1 million women who don't watch porn can you see how statements like 'women prefer violent porn' can be misconstrued?
      I'm not sure how your comment is relevant to the discussion about Autoheterosexuality though?

    Aaron K, I caught you correcting yourself calling adolescent girls/ young women “young girls”; have you noticed that EVERYONE is falling adolescent females “young girls”? What’s up with that? Is it a resistance to the power of womanhood? In my day of being a young woman we were all about being called “women” instead of “girls” (let alone “young girls”). What happened and why isn’t anyone critiquing this?

But we get into trouble speaking too casually in such a public forum ~ Aaron K
