Weight specific observation: They are super lightweight, but you have to use heavier tubeless tires, sealant, and valve. The total weight compared to a similar depth wheelset such as the Hunt 44UD running 28mm Pirelli PZero race clinchers and supersonic inner tubes comes out to a total weight savings of only 27g,not 143g savings, at 2x the price. This was calculated with the lightest compatible, non TT tubeless tires the corsa g 2.0

I found the calculator a few months ago and took the the tire pressure calculators advice, only to find that it fixed my back ache on longer rides, so much so that I actually lowered and lengthened my position by 17mm and 13mm respectively and still have no issues.
I have a friend that was involved in the great dog walker/cyclist war of Riverside Park in NYC. I’ve been told I’m okay because I’m not one of those cyclists whose outfit matches their bike. I am 100% showing her this bike/shoe combo to see her reaction.
The war has escalated here in Sweden too, apparently it's trendy to walk to the right of the bikelane while the dog walks on the left side of the bikelane; with a leash between them, the season has just begun & i've heard quite a lot of amusing dog walker/cyclist pleasantry exchanges already 😂 I don't know what it is that turns adults into preschool insults; vomit machines :D
Congrats on the KOM, Si, and that warranty does soften the sticker shock, really nice that they offer that and I experienced a good deal like that when I bent a Skyway Tuff-Wheel in '79 when I was jumping my CYC Stormer, ground pounding it without a landing ramp. And Skyway was true to their word about replacement, I received a new one in no time.

And I was fortunate to have an after-school job in high school in Frankfurt, West Germany and I bought that CYC Stormer through a little ad in Dirt Bike magazine, which I happily bought every single month, along with all the other motorcycle magazines. And, incredible to think about now, but at the same time I also owned a '73 250cc Maico motocross motorcycle, the one known for its coffin tank. I bought it from a classmate for $200 bucks and those were, as the say, the days. :)
@@gcn i want to ask you why my fingers joints hurt sometimes after riding for long time is it because i when i pull my hands vhen im driving up hill also i drive regular bike with flat handle and than it kicks my with vibrations from gravel road , but i dont get this efect with roadbike with your handle bars because i use legs for suspension and i change arm posicions on handle aloot specialy on gravel roads (i have +6holding posicions ) also if thats the case do those gloves help to slove this problem because i never used them in my 6 years of road bike riding. also sory for bad english because its my sesond language

Yes, it's basically an ad. But it keeps the lights on (which we all like) and it introduces you to stuff you might be unaware of. It's marketing material but vastly better presented than what most places do. I just bought the new Aeolus RSL 51 wheels and most websites that "reviewed" them did nothing more than regurgitate Trek's marketing material word-for-word. At least GCN tries to make things interesting, which I greatly appreciate.
On the positive side, at least they tell you. Plenty of stories in Australia are fully funded and there seems to be no obligation for them to tell you about it, hopefully you have better regulation in the UK
Love those wheels. Also, fwiw - I had already started running 80psi in my tubs, down from 100 earlier this year. The SRAM calc said I should use 67/72. It certainly didn't feel fast but I just blew out my matched ride average speed by 1mph - on a very blustery day with headwinds all the way.
Discbrake means you don't need to spending much money on branded carbon wheels to prevent it failure like the rimbrake models. I think it's better to buy chinese brand rims (farsports/yoeleo) + good hubs (ck/240s). Rim shape and strength is easy to imitate just with a little weight penalty.

Princeton Carbonworks actually came out with the shallower depth whale fin rims first this time around... Although it's debatable how long the company can get away with having such a similar design for a fraction of the cost zipp/sram charges. If I didn't have a sponsor, I'd be more incentivised to buy the princetons instead.
How do they compare to something like Lightweight Wegweiser Evos which are also superstrong, very light, rated ok for gravel and have 120kg weight limit but carbon spokes and hub, smaller inside rim width and slightly more expensive. Interested to hear your opinion, cheers
I don't see why these are much better than the 303s or firecrest apart from looking weird. Get the 303s and spend the excess on an electronic groupset, another bike or even better, a cycle holiday once restrictions are eased
How long do you think it will be before they release an update to the 454 NSW's. Speculation on weight for those rims would be ~1350-1400 which would be 200g+ lighter than the current 454's

I don't know which category this should be in, gcn tech or gcn does science or anywhere else. But it would be very interesting to see a comparison of comfort achieved with different rim materials on a carbon/aluminium frame. Or even steel. Question on hookless rims - I'm running P Zero Race TLRs on my FFWD RYOT 55 wheels (they have hooked rims). On the packaging, in bold letters it says "don't use with hookless rims." Do you find that they work ok on hookless rims?
Nice wheelset but excuse me while I wipe away the tears. I'll collect my first wheelset upgrade on Friday and can't wait to see if they make any difference. I found a used pair of Fulcrum Racing 3 DB with good rubber and Shimano 105 cassette for €425 to replace PR2 stock wheelset on my new Giant.
Will wheels like these have any impact on less expensive wheel technology for everyday commuters? I like hearing about high-end technology advances, but I would like to see more things that impact more ordinary riders.

Comfort is 95% from your tires and seatpost flex. Carbon wheels will make you faster than a carbon frame, but that’s due to aerodynamic gains.
