After years of playing and not using the Vertibird much at all, I started a Brotherhood playthrough and went out of my way to use the Vertibird as much as possible.
I did this to be thematic and immersive, but much to my surprise I had tons of fun with it too!
Plus I found lots of useful ways to use the bird. After talking to a viewer recently I was surprised to find they didn't even know you could change course!
So I though I'd see if anyone else would find these tips useful?
If you have please let me know and also if you could let me know if you would like to see my video on where the Vertibird can land, or any other subjects you would like tips on.
    Thanks Guys!

It's incredibly useful for defending settlements, especially when you get multiple attacked at the same time.
No need to land, just circle the settlement providing air support. If you've setup some defenses and armed your settlers, it should be a breeze. (Word of caution, maybe set up walls to keep settlers apart from attackers, as the minigun is indescriminate.)
Once one settlement is defended, move onto the next.
After doing this a few times I started building my settlements to generate more attacks, so I could do this more often.

Securing air superiority between the BOS and Minutemen is vital in my gameplays! It makes defending settlements much more immersive, fun, and enjoyable flying in guns blazing!
Plus the flight redirection glitch is really helpful, I use it for missions, travel, and avoiding routes through the city that cause game crashes.
It scratches my GTA Online itch because I’d do the same thing with NPC pilots there, constantly changing the waypoints to keep the pilot going, I did it with limos drivers too and pick up crew members or start a mad drive by 😂

It is a great feature of the game so many miss out on using. I only really started using the Vertibirds a lot when I finally did a BoS playthrough.
I find it hard to play as anyone else now.

@@FalloutPBC I always join all the factions in game and try to support them the furthest I can or play them like a triple agent! Too many good features like settlements, backup, vertibirds and teleporting to miss out on.
Plus having all factions temporarily united is as close as I get to a “provisional government” on console.
I usually build a situation room at the Castle for X6-88, Paladin Danse, and Deacon!

Long comment incoming. Just a few more tips.
Vertibird strafing runs shine in open areas of the map or at locations like Big John's Salvage or Quincy Ruins, where the enemies are densely packed. You'll find it more of a challenge to navigate downtown Boston, as the pilot will often do the sensible thing & try to climb to avoid collision with a skyscraper even though you'll clip right through it.
Be warned. Flying over enemies like mole rats or radscorpions (particularly in the Glowing Sea) will cause them to "lock on" to the player, tracking them relentlessly across the Commonwealth once the bird touches down. You might remain in "caution" status for hours, making it impossible to use crafting equipment at a settlement. Traveling to an indoor cell or sleeping will usually cause your threat status to be cleared. Sneak 4 helps, as it will cause distant enemies to lose you.
They're great for settlement defense alerts as you can fly over the target area & the base defenses will do their job (if you've properly defended them). You still get credit for defending the settlement even if you never land or fire a shot.
I have had an odd glitch where I must have hit Dogmeat as he sat beside me while I fired the minigun. He became aggressive upon touchdown and I was able to experience both his bleed attack & a crippled leg. I had to enter the building screen & erect a fence between myself & the dog, build a bed, and sleep to reset him.
Lastly, the one thing I wish the devs had included was the ability to deploy mid-air if wearing power armor.
Great job on the video. An online friend responded with the "mind blown" emoji when I told him you could "steer" the vertibird. That being said, I'm glad Bethesda didn't spell everything out for us & allowed us to learn via experimentation...you know, the common learning method in old video games.

Thanks for adding these helpful extra tips Johnny!
I'm with you, I would love to be able to deploy from the air. You see the Brotherhood do this all the time so it was obviously something they thought about. Very sad we didn't get to drop into combat, A big missed opportunity in my book.

    I want 2 sub.
But you didnt answer the only question i have. . .
How each faction has access to the vertibird; I am doing a minutemen playthrough, and i got vertibird through the brotherhood questline, but how do i know i will keep it when i finish the main quest.
What im trying to do is utilize the vertibird & the minutemen artillery,
If i skip brother hood of steel questline do i get my vertibirds when i only do minutemen to get my artillery quick?
Cause in survival u will need vertibird to travel, and minute men have technically best weapon(artillery).
    [Weapon as in faction weapon.]

    • @FalloutPBC
      @FalloutPBC  Рік тому +1

Hi, as I said in the video you will get the Vertibird later in the playthrough with the other factions and each faction has its own pilots.
I didn't want to spoil the story for anyone. We do get a lot of new players here still on their first playthrough.
If you don't mind spoilers read on...
You will gain direct access to the Vertibird with the Minutemen or the Railroad after you destroy the Brotherhood.
It gets a bit complicated but you can keep both the MM and BOS in the game and just keep using both after the end of the main quest. As they are happy to co-exist with each other.
Thanks for watching and I hope that helps?
