Great video! Just got a 987.2 and after watching your video, looked up Zunsport Grille 2009 Porsche Boxster because replacing those radiators out front is expensive. Thanks for showing how easy it is to install them.
Fitted some today on my gen 2 cayman. Different and definitely not as easy to fit, had to bend the lower bracket both sides. Got there in the end and they haven’t fallen off yet
Thanks for your comment, yeah I want to avoid replacing the radiators at all costs. I would say even if people don't like the look of the grills they should probably still consider them just to protect against a huge bill.

That's really interesting about the gearbox radiator. I had wondered why my manual just had this scoop in there. Definitely worth getting the gril on the auto then so I will keep that in mind. I didn't even know gearboxes needed a radiator.
Yeah I wasn’t aware until I met an owner with a manual. He liked the way mine appeared to have a proper air feed. Looks better really but more issues if a stone smashes it. Need to get it covered up I think
Really useful. I recently had to pay the local OPC a bunch of money to clean out the back of the grills. I wish I had these fitted. All the others I have seen online are way to complicated to fit.
I’ve wondered about fitting those; I don’t generally like modifications but I can see the point of protecting the rads /condensers, having had to have new condensers fitted last year… Question is, black or silver?
I’m the same! Don’t want to modify it as such but this does offer a huge advantage. Ultimately should prevent a huge bill if a stone was to hit the front. I’d say it depends on the colour of car, I imagine a blue or even red one would look great with silver. Black is just more OEM
@@JoeTalksCars Meteor Grey. Probably black grilles, I reckon. It is going in tomorrow for a new water pump (always intended to get that done as a preventative measure before it hit 50k miles, didn’t get around to it and at 50.25k miles it has failed … of course … but thankfully I noticed the bearing noise before it let go, so no damage). I’ll think about grilles again once the bank balance has recovered.
Great video Joe …. I had an issue with my air-con which was traced to faulty rads and therefore they required changing! I have toyed with the idea of the protectors but now watching your video I will certainly get some … they seem extremely easy to fit …. which area does the self tapping screw secure itself in to? best wishes with the repair can’t believe how little damage it caused …. lucky! …. looking forward to the next videos 👍
Did this after spending over £500 on new condensers…..did the front and little ones on the rear. Didn’t like the look of the kidney grills so left them off. Zunsport were great on the customer service as well!
Yeah well worth protecting. They cost such a lot and so easily damaged! Agreed with the side ones, tempted to get some to try but not sure on the look.
It’s such a strange design flaw from Porsche. For my 981 Cayman, I just bought some matte black aluminium mesh, cut it to size and fed them through the main centre duct with small black cable ties keeping them in place. Cost me £20 and look much better than the ZunSport ones.
That’s cool! I would have never attempted to make my own 🤣 this was my limit. It’s odd isn’t it how they didn’t think to put these on as standard. It affects all Porsches more or less and I don’t think the mesh makes it look less nice.
What about the gate? 😆 I'm glad the car did not sustain to much damage. Why don't you turn that mic around and put it on the outside of your shirt so it won't bother you so much? It's bluetoothed to your phone or cam, right?
Do you know what. The gate actually went back together! Well my father in law sorted it. Unbelievable really! Haha yeah some t shirts don’t hold it on so well going to invest in a wired microphone:)
Are you still loving your Cayman S? I get people coming up to me asking how much? I have 112k now and it still makes me smile every time driving. Some kid yelled "that shit is fire!". Didn't know what it meant but hold on to your car.
I adore it! With the better weather coming it makes me appreciate it more. Can’t wait to get out loads in the summer and enjoy it and more importantly share it on here:)
Haha my last car I swapped the interior LEDs. When is sold it only the doors and roof were standard. Full engine conversion, the lot. Regretted it tho so this one won’t be getting anything too mad.

No offence, great video and install but boy do they look nasty.

Great! Zunsport have done well out of my little channel. They should be fine but you do right fitting the covers. Such an expensive thing to repair.

Looking good. First mod I'd do if I get a Cayman is led spar lights. They come with grills which should protect the radiator from debris

The prices of these things are insane. Makes no sense. At those prices replacing a radiator is about the same.
Nah the rads are 1000s to replace. These are a few hundred and clip on. Plus they look great.

How would you remove them if you ever needed to?
Undo the self tapper and pop them out. However it’s probably unlikely you would need to remove them. The bumper off is probably the best option.

I can confirm a complete muppet can fit these as I installed them on my 987 Boxster and I know absolutely nothing
