    What can I say! WOW! As a gardener, I know the effort that is required to garden, it is HUGE💪💪You have made an ecosystem in your backyard. Lovely to see the hiding frog, the insects flying around and hearing the birds 🐞Good idea in catching the water from your greenhouse roof. The use of the egg cartons to hold the growing strawberries off the dirt whilst they ripen, simple but very effective. So nice that your vision and tremendous hard work has been realised and you have a very beautiful, secluded, productive garden which would enrich your lives. Very cute seeing Humphrey enjoying the garden and the food it grows 🐶

      Ah, thank you! Yes, it's been hard work but enjoyable at the same time. We didn't see many insects or birds when we first moved in but now there is often a meeting of feathered friends in the kitchen garden. It's fascinating to watch.

    Your “secret garden” is more a collection of garden rooms, each one unique and yet cohesive. You are very lucky to have old planters and pots where you live. Here in the US I once had a single source of old planters from the UK, but they closed. Now I have to drive long distances to find anything decent, or be content to buy Chinese (which I abhor). You have a beautiful home and gardens!

      Thank you! How frustrating to have your source close down. I have two architectural antique yards I visit regularly but otherwise I usually have to order online.

    You have created a wonderful garden… just lovely.
    I’m in the states where we have yet to catch on to the idea of garden rooms. But I can see this is exactly what my garden needs. Thank you for sharing your process, I’m not quite sure how I will do it but this is my garden goal! Thank you so much for sharing your garden, I’m completely inspired. 🌺

    I’ve said it before but I love your garden and home. And the birds. The sound is amazing. I live on our sheep farm in Australia and our birds don’t sound like yours. We have Magpies, sparrows, Willy Wagtails and a family of Blue Wrens. We live in a dry part of Australia and there are times I have to let things die in my garden because we just don’t have enough water especially in a drought

    • @BoundaryRoad
      @BoundaryRoad  2 місяці тому +3

      I grew up in Australia and agree that the birds sound different. I can start watching something and hear the birds and think to myself - ah, this is being filmed in Australia. We lived on a property during a drought and I remember scooping water from wherever I could to try and keep one potted plant alive. Thank you for reminding me how lucky we are to be having a mild and rainy summer.

    Lovely! I subscribed and look forward to watching more. I too am trying to create garden rooms on my property. The ones closer to the residence have a bit more “formality” in terms of edging and walkways (stones, pavers) and plantings that are proportional to humans walking through including a pollinator garden along the front walk. The farther garden rooms have progressively less formality (edging is railroad ties or simply logs and grassy pathways). The next grouping further away have larger plantings including a shade garden. Farther beyond that, we are lucky to have fully wild areas out to the edge of the property that I leave entirely alone. Deer bed down at night in those areas so I do not wish to disturb them. Massachusetts, USA

    • @BoundaryRoad
      @BoundaryRoad  2 місяці тому +1

      Your garden sounds beautiful! A big garden can feel overwhelming but having less formality in some areas helps. Thank you!

    • @BoundaryRoad
      @BoundaryRoad  2 місяці тому +1

      Hi, the strawberry beds are 90cm wide and 360cm long. They are a great size. I find the ones in the other garden a little too wide but am restricted by the pathways we need.

    I am only 8 minutes into this latest video and WOW what a transformation! You both have worked so hard to create a beautiful haven in which to relax in. I am amazed at how quick the hedge has grown to shield you from the nearby houses and provide privacy. Two years ago I had my little garden in my cottage transformed by having it landscaped from mismatched slabs etc and even within a two year timescale evergreen shrubs have doubled in size. You have encouraged me to move forward and invest in more plants but unfortunately, it will have to wait until next year. Right, back to the rest of the video.... Sophie.

    • @BoundaryRoad
      @BoundaryRoad  2 місяці тому

      Thank you, Sophie - you made me laugh when you mentioned stopping the video to comment. A good thing about doing things slowly is that there is time to grow from seed, make divisions, and take cuttings. I'm trying to propagate from cuttings for the first time this year. I hope you enjoyed the rest of the video ;-)
