- The warmer weather meant I was able to tackle the final task in our extreme boot room mudroom makeover - the entrance doors. So far I've restored and transformed our traditional English country style boot room mudroom with lots of budget friendly thrifted vintage decor so the original character of our home is not lost. Firstly, this video recaps the work done earlier in the year before tackling the restoration of our original doors. This is the last step in making sure our boot room mudroom is a functional space as well as beautiful and welcoming.

Yes, who knew? It's not a colour I've considered using before. I'm very happy it turned out well - I was a little worried at one point.
I initially cringed at the purple from the paint can, but WOW the doors are stunning. I have restored a door before and the work involved is massive. Congratulations on such beautiful work. I love the little faces with plant 'hair' very sweet 🤗
Thank you - and yes, it was a big job and I have already forgotten the state they were in beforehand! In some way, I feel like I let the house decide as I usually wouldn't consider purple as a paint colour but it was the one that looked the best.

When you said your color choice was purple I thought oh dear that's not going to work, but I was wrong. It's a lovely color. The entrance turned out beautifully.
Oh, thank you - it means a lot! I was in disbelief that I was choosing purple and had doubts too. We stood at the back door and held up lots of choices and that was the only one that seemed 'restful' - as if it belonged.

@@bryandixon6138 Hi Alison, it's called Arabis Alpina Caucaslca variegate. It came as a little alpine pot for £2 at the beginning of the season a few years ago. It's beautiful and is my favourite. It's evergreen and if a bit falls off, I stick it in water where roots will grow and then I've got even more of them 🙂
@@bryandixon6138 The plant I cut in half in the video is an example of it when it's small. That plant is a similar version but it has a reddish purple border on the leaf.

Looks absolutely wonderful, your hard work has paid off. I’ve never heard of that paint brand but will look for it in future, it looks great and I love the colour choice.
Thank you very much! The paint is a Scandinavian brand and has excellent durability against the elements. Although they have a range of colours, I had it tinted to Paean Black by Farrow & Ball.

When I asked him whether he wanted to go out and play ball he ran about hitting his tail on the wet paint, so his tail is now covered in paint. He's a lovely companion!

Thank you! It is Paean Black by Farrow & Ball. Our paint supplier has a F&B mixer but we got them to mix it into the Jotun base because Jotun has excellent weather protection.
