I feel the same, I bought a psp 3000 after owning a 1000 for a long time and honestly I prefer the 1000. Yeah the screen is better on the 3000 but the way the 1000 feels and the longer battery life, i just prefer the 1000.
I just thrifted a silver psp 2000 Dexter bundle and amazing condition. It brought me back to playing my psp 1000 and god of war. Thanks for the awesome review. I didn’t realize how many psp models came out.
Going to be honest I've always had a soft spot for my time with the PSP and it's various models. I think I've owned every single version except the PSP-2000 (that includes the Street) . As far as I'm concerned the "best" is the 3000 it just refined everything about the console and the wider colour gamut is such a nice + but I'll also note the PSP Go also has the same colour gamut I think the only difference is what the screen the screen itself is made out of. The PSP 3000 reflective panelling can result in scanlines but the others can have ghosting but I never found those to be an issue for me. PSP 1000 though just feels so nice it's the most "rugged" IMO, I always feel I need a protective case or grip to get comfortable with the others not at all with the 1000 or the street. As for the Street, I really like it it's got a nice screen and feels great in the hands and would be my favourite if not for ONE thing... the battery. The E1000 is by far the most annoying to replace (I don't care about the Wi-Fi or the Mono speaker because headphones exist and PSP wi-fi is not good) but not being able to replace the battery is the killer. Then there's the Go and I'll be honest... I love the Sharp design of the Go, I love it's internal memory as well and once you get a shell on the thing it's really easy to slip in the pocket and take with you and naturally it comes with the 3000's more vivid colour gamut. But that proprietary USB is a pain in the ass, because you need it for EVERYTHING including the memory cards but it can be really slow. Thankfully replacing the battery on the PSP go is nowhere near as much of a pain as the E1000 but it's still a lot closer than I'm comfortable with.
I’m glad u mentioned the 1000 I loved it because of the weight and how you open the slot for the game I just ordered the 3000 but I’m going to hate it because of some things it doesn’t have on the 1000
The PSP really was a Gaming Walkman. And i'm sure if the Playstation brand wouldn't have been more popular than the Walkman brand, Sony would have probably called it PSW (Playstation Walkman). It really was for a LONG time the most versatile handheld you could get. Playing games, watching movies, listening to music, browsing the web with the onboard webbrowser and even recording videos with the dedicated camera or using it as a GPS navigator with the dedicated GPS unit. Back in 2006 when my best buddy got his PSP, i really fell in love with this thing and a year later or so i had my own one. And of course i firmware hacked it to make the most out of it. :P Mostly for the ability to use emulators and a music player that ran at a much lower CPU clock speed which saved battery time. AND of course to play DOOM on it.
i had a psp 2000 (i actually still have cause it's still woriking even if it fell from the balcony of the 4th floor!!) and i rember i used to play with the memory stick while the game was loading or saving, so relaxing
If the GO was able to play UMDs, I think it would have been everyone’s preferred PSP IMO. Cus the GO is a beautiful console. It’s just that digital only aspect that made it a flop. The 3000 series is def the way to go for me
I used to go to some shops and they would download a buncha games for me on it lol (I'm talking about my PSP street but u know they can do it on any psp)
My favorite PSP model is the Monster Hunter Portable 3rd Edition PSP 3000. It's a 3000 model but the back is similar to the 1000 model and also has a higher capacity battery.
I just bought a PSP 1000 with 9000+ games pre-installed in a memory card, it arrives today! Also it's white like yours but the buttons are black which it think is even more awesome. Ahhh I'm so excited, I have the PSP 3000 and 2000.
I actually really liked the psp go honestly. cause I really liked not having to carry all my games with me every time I went on a trip. And one thing you forgot to mention is you actually didn’t really need a memory card for the system. it had 16 Gb of storage built right into it which was a lot at the time for a handheld.
I had a white psp go. I still regret to say this day selling it. I loved it, loved the clicky buttons, the analog stick, the shoulder buttons that had two contacts each and the screen mechanism that felt so sturdy. So many improvements over the 3000. The only thing that I didn't like was that the rubber part on the back of the white model is transparent and it will get very yellow with use. Ruining the esthetic of the device.
I have a red 3000 model and i've come back to it recently and still enjoy it. Only main issue with mine us that i think one of my mom's friends put emulated versions of the games on a menory card so some of them don't work at the best they could. I bought driver 76 a few days ago because the version on the nemory card crashes at the exact same spot. Nevertheless still holds a special place in my childhood.
Crazy how the psp came out in 2005. I got the ps3 3000 on Christmas of 2009 and I sold it a few years later. I wish i never had, I'll probably buy another one again one day.
I bought the Kingdom Hearts Birth by sleep PSP-3000 Model. It is so damn beautiful and the games are so much fun. So happy I finally got a PSP. I don't like the modern handhelds nearly as much as the PSP or Vita. They are all just way too big and bulky. I truly miss the DS/3DS/PSP/Vita times :(
My brother got one when I was 5 so I didn't get to play it as much but he gave it to me a few years ago and I am the proud owner of this console! I did so many things with it such as installing emulators, changing the themes and many more! I still love it to this day
I have the psp go black got it at launch day in EB games, still going solid, did the micro sd card mod 256gb and a ton of games, always in case a few scratches, use it a lot more then the 3ds and nintendo switch 😂. Really loved it man, favorite out of the lot
Sony understood the right way to use the PSP 2000 and 3000 by giving the ability to play on your fucking TV !!! Look at Nintendo 🤬🤬🤬 not giving any video out put or some third party tools to play the fucking DS or 3DS on the TV !!! COMON Nintendo !!! They allowed gameboy color GBA or other stuff to be played on the super nintendo and gamecube 😬😬😬
Went to buy an xbox 360 with 2 controllers and 8 games for 70 bucks. I complimented the guy's psp 1000 and my man threw it in for free just needs a new battery. After I got home I was more excited about the psp than the xbox.
A really useful video... thanks! I taught a videogame history course for many years and used two 1000 models and three 2000 models in the delivery of the course. All of the batteries, even in the 2000 models, eventually expanded and failed. I no longer teach the course as I retired but I still use my PSP (with the AC adapter)... mostly to play Space Invaders Extreme as I love that game. I am thinking of putting a Raspberry Pi in my PSP 1000 but we'll see, Anyway, I really liked the PSP (and the Vita). Thanks for the video.
I think Sony's biggest mistake was discontinuing the PSP franchise, I LOVED PSP, but like I would like newer games on them and be able to connect mine to the internet from modern routers.
The psp is too weak to still keep up especially since the last decade. They just shouldn't have fkd up with Vita and we could still be having the 3rd or 4th playstation handheld console by now(don't even mention ps portal)

I just bought a psp 2000 for about $70, so thank you. Great advice and info. I have a 1000 but the battery heats up too much after a decade of use. The best game I've ever played was After Burner. I used to envy the arcade game with flight chair and joy stick in the pinball parlours of the 1980s. Yep, I'm that old and still gaming both ps2,ps3,ps4, eyeing the psp5 ,but with world chip shortages and Corona Virus Tax they are well over $1500. This old gamer will get one though. Best ps2 game SOCOM, BEST PS3 Game Splinter Cell Black List, Best ps4 game ghost recon wildlands. Keep up the great work... Grandpa Out 😆
Interesting that you like the screen of the 3000 the best. The reviews all slammed the screen for the distracting "interlacing"/"scanlines" look in games. And the new vibrant color mode was slammed for making the colors look worse.

I just bought a PSP-1000 on ebay and the battery is shaped like a tumor lol. Most battery bulge I've ever seen in real life. It's still a nice addition to my handheld collection. It differentiates itself from my Nintendo handhelds just from the style and the way it feels in the hand.
Hey man. I love my PSP (PlayStation Portable) handheld console. The model I owned is the blue 2000 series that comes with Madden NFL 09 bundle. I’m willing to get the 3000 series which is one of the carnival colors which was released in Japan only when I have the money on eBay. I love PSP games like SOCOM Fireteam Bravo series and GTA series because these games have online multiplayer built in, I really love online multiplayer games on the PSP! If you like to play PSP games online, just simply set the WLAN switch to on, and also if you like play PSP online right now in 2024-present, it requires an IP Address or DNS depending which PSP game your playing online in your internet configuration settings. The Sony’s PSP, also known as the PlayStation Portable is a good handheld console. It’s not perfect due to issues with it, but it’s one of the best handheld consoles of all time.
Cool video I have a black PSP 1000 The best one especially the UMD door I bought it last year for $75 and totally worth it so glad I saved up I played long play throughs of GTA :)
My very first video game device was the psp 3000 with MLB 11 The Show on it. That game will always be iconic to me. The psp served me well, right now I am charging it up and I haven’t played it in years. I am giddy because I get to relive my childhood again.
I think the reason they made the PSP Go was because the UMD drive was kind of a detriment. It was louder, It used battery power, and it was less reliable. It was also the reason they switched to cartridges on the Vita. The Go was a neat idea on paper but with the M2 memory cards, they didn't execute it very well.

I decided to start collecting again now that I got working PSP's again (childhood one got ruined after trying a shell swap of my own in my teen years). I created PSP videos on UA-cam that got over 500k views before the days of Google Ads, review videos and unboxings... I fucked up. But I'm gonna buy back my PSP anyway and enjoy the nostalgia
The drawback with the PSP was their lack of game support. Knowing they couldn't get as many titles, they should have ported more PSOne and PS2 titles to the platform. Movie support through their estore ended up being OK. If they had lasted long enough to get netflix and other streaming services, they might have succeeded.
The psp is one of the best-selling console of all time. I am pretty sure it's a huge success... I don't see how it lacks in terms of game support unless you expect PC games on it...
Imagine a psp in this day and age. It would be OP. With how well the switch is doing, the PSP should make a comeback. Should be compatible with the dual sense, add touch screen, and connect to your ps5 for local split screen!

The 3000 series is def the way to go for me
the Go was so comfortable to hold, with a UMD drive it would have been king fr
I used to go to some shops and they would download a buncha games for me on it lol
(I'm talking about my PSP street but u know they can do it on any psp)
Sony should really continue with handhelds
My favorite PSP model is the Monster Hunter Portable 3rd Edition PSP 3000. It's a 3000 model but the back is similar to the 1000 model and also has a higher capacity battery.
I never knew this! Sounds awesome, might have to track one down now :) that extra battery life especially
I just bought a PSP 1000 with 9000+ games pre-installed in a memory card, it arrives today! Also it's white like yours but the buttons are black which it think is even more awesome. Ahhh I'm so excited, I have the PSP 3000 and 2000.
could you send link by any chance please ?
OH SHIOIIIIIT
I actually really liked the psp go honestly. cause I really liked not having to carry all my games with me every time I went on a trip. And one thing you forgot to mention is you actually didn’t really need a memory card for the system. it had 16 Gb of storage built right into it which was a lot at the time for a handheld.
I got my go for that reason I also got it to mod sadly haven't had time to do it yet
PSP 1000 you can shoot memory card like far away. Strong spring.
Use bleach powder like comet bro! It should do the job fine!
Why did you sold it?
Thank God someone made a simple video with a good breakdown. Thanks!
The PSP is the hottest handheld there ever is! I love the design and the stuff you can do with it after its hacked, its amazing stuff!
Just bought my first one today 27/3/2023🎉
Also the psp 3000 had built in mic so you can use it to talk to your friends online in games I remember having that advantage.
So cool, i have the 3000 version. My mum radomly found it still in it's orignal box a few years ago hidden in her room. Appartenly she got it for my birthday when it first came out but, forgot to give it to me. I've been playing ever since. I got some cool games for it like medevil resurrection and gta vice stories
Fantastic review! Keep up the good work.
Enjoying this channel man, just stumpled upon it a few weeks ago when I came to the conclusion that I wanted to re-collect for the PSP. Bought myself a PSP 3000 from Japan. Anyways, keep it up!
Grandpa Out 😆
Ghost recon wild lands is objectively terrible
Track n Field is my retro go to game , At 50 yrs of age i don't care 😂
U should find another battery for that 1000, keep it alive
@@EXOD3str0y3r definatley will look for one as the 2000 is not really my cup of tea lol. Loved the 1000😘
I still use my PSP to this day. Great purchase.
Interesting that you like the screen of the 3000 the best. The reviews all slammed the screen for the distracting "interlacing"/"scanlines" look in games. And the new vibrant color mode was slammed for making the colors look worse.
I just got a 3000. And I can’t believe how good that screen look for a machine that old.
@@DanaTheInsane Good to know your opinion! It does seem like the reviewers were overly harsh. Do you have a 1000 or 2000 to compare with?
Someone gave me psp 1004 a year or two ago, and your right, it feels like such a high quality handheld.
2024 just bought me a psp first time so excited lol
Just bought another psp 1000 and opening it was just as exciting as it was 15 years ago
In 2018 I put my PSP in my school bag at night I forgot to take it out morning and I took the bag school checking happened and my PSP was confiscated
Till this day it is with them I feel so sad and stupid remembering this 😢😢😢😢it’s easy to read or listen but only I know that pain

Thank you for all the info man! I used to have the psp2000 growing up and want to buy a psp3000 and don’t want to get scammed.
Black is my favourite colour, so I prefer the piano black myself.
I went to my local CeX today (basically UK GameStop) and saw a psp 1000 and now I’m in love lol
The battery on both of our psp expanded when its just hidden in a cabinet for a long time
I just bought a PSP-1000 on ebay and the battery is shaped like a tumor lol. Most battery bulge I've ever seen in real life. It's still a nice addition to my handheld collection. It differentiates itself from my Nintendo handhelds just from the style and the way it feels in the hand.
that boot sound ❤️❤️
Fantastic video, even as an avid PSP lover I learned some stuff, plus this was presented wonderfully! Interesting PSPGo customizing there 😆
still got my psp go, it's like the ultimate pocketable console... it's just the ergonomics are all wrong. playing monster hunter on it was hell
Indeed, couldn’t claw correctly on the go so I traded it in for a 3000 at my local gamestore. Kinda regret it tho cuz that thing was super portable 😭
Cool video
I have a black PSP 1000
The best one especially the UMD door
I bought it last year for $75 and totally worth it so glad I saved up I played long play throughs of GTA :)
I just bought psp e1004 or street 3 days back. It feels really awesome to play my childhood games once again. Completely nostalgic 💯
I found a psp go and I was just looking for a psp😂😂😂😂😂
I just found all my portable devices and I’m so happy coz I’m finally getting chargers for them coz I couldn’t find them after 5 years😂
Still have 1004, runs like a charm. Used to have 2001 but sold it pretty quickly as 1004 is such a perfect handheld console.
I picked up a Japanese PSP (with a charger and midnight club dub edition) 1000 for £32.00
Congrats!
Robles Junior thanks :)
@@Hillsoe that's cheap, i got one for like 90
My very first video game device was the psp 3000 with MLB 11 The Show on it.
Bingo! It's makes it more ideal for homebrew and pirating.
I use to have the psp 2000 as a kid but idk where it went 😂😂😂🤦🏻♂️ now I want one again!👍🏻😎and idk why psp 2000 is call the slim? I remember when I have it that thing wasn’t that light weighted! I’m subscribed now I want a PSP again and I see that your channel is dedicated to PSP! 🎮
I really wanna pick up a green PSP 3000 but I hear it has scanlines. Did Sony ever fix it in the last production run of 3000s? Also to 3000 owners are the lines really visible and did you feel regret trading up from a 2000 to a 3000?
2000 is best
I had a green one. You barely notice the scanlines when you're really into the fray of enjoying it. I watched movies on it with no problem.
I own the White Psp Go , Owned Black Psg Go decade back but sold it back then, i am permanently attached with PSP Go (although my first PSP was PSP Slim)
Ok I think I am going crazy, but correct me if I am wrong... Didn't the original PSP 1000 have a Mechanical UMD Door? Ex. You hit the eject switch and it would open up slowly but automatically. Thanks!
Just got my psp 3000 with tomb raider anniversary both in good condition!!!! I'm so hooked beautiful port and so happy the resolution and all is more colorful then the 3001!!!!! Love my psp started getting back into PlayStation again!!!!!
The fatty is the best and you can even install an IPS screen on a 1000 model.
Laughs on the 3000 Model
Wow it's amazing how the prices of these have skyrocketed but the PSP GO pricing has hardly changed, how weird.
I'm not sure if you looked into this but this channel (TheGamer) has some of your footage at 4:47 and other parts of the video. I also included the web link to the video.ua-cam.com/video/oVeYtsrJTnA/v-deo.html

@@RoblesJunior Anytime man, I hope it gets resolved and thank you again for your insight on PSP.
Recently re-started my PSP collection by buying a collection of 50+ physical games with a 1000 and a 2000 for 100 euro, immediately brought back so many fond memories of the console. I decided to start collecting again now that I got working PSP's again (childhood one got ruined after trying a shell swap of my own in my teen years). Definitely felt like I managed to secure a steal!
I just bought I psp street from a friend for $10
Stonks📈
Thank you for the review. Clears up a lot of questions I had.
16 years later and Original psp 1000 still runs except without a battery
I remember the psp1000 came out it was like 300 CAD. Now a days I think anything that’s somewhat mint and around 100-150 is probly worth at least in Canada it’s tougher to find
Pulled out my old psp today just to realize that the battery was missing
Do you still have the charger?
@@coolvibrations652 I do but the physical battery is not there
@@majikk7099 you can still play with it, just dont plug out the charger while saving the game

Psp has tons of games
The psp is one of the best-selling console of all time. I am pretty sure it's a huge success... I don't see how it lacks in terms of game support unless you expect PC games on it...
Imagine a psp in this day and age. It would be OP. With how well the switch is doing, the PSP should make a comeback. Should be compatible with the dual sense, add touch screen, and connect to your ps5 for local split screen!
I am only getting psp because of Kenma :’))
loved my psp, couldn't find it so bought a new one (refurbished no scuffs) for the 2023 prices, $214, when i heard don't buy for more than $70 i almost had a stroke
Dug up my PSP 1000 that I used to play on as a child. Just finding out and remembering how fun of a console it is.
That blue psp 2000 is beautiful. My favorite shade of blue. I wonder if there are any 3000 models that are that shade of blue? I've only been able to find the carnival colors vibrant blue version for the 3000.
I had fun watching. thanks! very informative.
Glad it was helpful!
Great review Robles!
Any luck finding that psp go white? I have one and have been looking to off load.
I still need one!
3000 is easily the best due to video out and LCD screen. Shame that there's no white model though.
There is a ceramic white as well as a pearl white model for the psp 3000. I have both!
@@maxortega53 I wasn't aware, thanks for letting me know. Though no listings seem to show up on eBay.

Hello I know this is unrelated but does a psp 2000 battery cover fit in psp 1000?
Pls reply
Does every psp run all games ?
Yes, except the PSP Go doesn't take UMDs and the PSP Street doesn't have Wi-Fi.
Just came across this video because i just recently got Into getting PSP's again and crazy you mention that the rare one of the psp go is the white one, that's the one I have with full box and everything, didn't even know they go high still in the market
I have the PSP Go, but I wish I had a 3000 or 2000!!
Quick question, my left analog stick from my Vita stopped working last month, thanks to corona no orders are being delivered in my country, I wanted a quick solution so that I could play with the ps4 controller plugin. Is it safe to remove the analog ribbon cable and just leave it hanging there?
If you do just Contacts with electrical tape.
