Wow this is some nostalgia... I remember getting a psp 3000 in the summer of 2009. We had pretty much just come off a 14 hour flight home and my parents finally realized the limitations of our Gameboy advance SP handhelds.
Funny enough, it's because of this model, the PSP became really popular where i live, because of the cheaper price and games being cheaper, it really boomed in sales, that's why everyone i know that had or has a PSP had this model and that generally due to the fact that around these parts, consoles are always at its most popular at the end of its lifecycle and when the new consoles comes out, because consoles at its cheapest. i was one of the few people i knew of, that had one of the older models before most kids couldn't even dream of having one.
Similar experience here, I got a PSP-1000 in 2007 when I was in 5th/6th class on Gymnasium (up to 4th we got only elementary/primary school) and after that we got three basic types of school in Germany, Gymnasium is the highest (only one where you can get Abitur what is needed for University), Realschule is the midrange and Hauptschule is the low-end. It's historically grown and rather unfair, so in the last two decades we got an increasing number of Gesamtschulen (integrated schools) which include all three. Long story short though I was on the "best" type of school most students had a DS because I guess it costed just 150€ while the PSP was for 250€ back then.
This made a great companion to the PS Vita, something to play UMDs and take out and about without the fear of losing or breaking it. All the missing features (e.g. ps store, online play) didn't matter as I had them on the Vita. A few more things that were great about the E1000: Power switch was not on the side so less discomfort/ accidental trigger. The street was fairly common here in my country, I got one after my original 2000 series broke. Wasn’t a big fan of it so I traded it for my friends 3000 model 😂 it just felt too “cheap” for me
I remember when this came out, it was super cheap, as were the greatest hits games. It was such good value. I didn't need one then as I had a 2000 and a Go at that point. I've owned one second hand since and I have to say it was quite nice. Screen was one of the best, not as many colours as 3000, but no scanline issues either. As crisp as the Go's, but bigger and better on the eyes. The build quality was pretty nice too coming mostly from playing on a slimmer model, felt better in the hands and more solidly built. Buttons were more clicky than mushy like earlier models too. Would've kept it if not for no battery access (prefer the ability to be able to change them), no wi-fi and mono speaker (can do stereo by headphones though!). If those things don't bother you and you find one cheap, go for it. Great little device to play some forgotten games from really great Playstation IP and relive Sony's great handheld period. I'd highly recommend the Syphon Filter's, Medievil Resurrection and Twisted Metal Head On if you've been a fan since PS1 like I have.
I didn't know about this model until I purchased a new PSP around 10 years back, thought it looked a tad different and to my surprise, yeah - different model. A lot of fond memories on the PSP!
No wifi , no stereo speakers , no tv out , fixed battery & poor build quality also misses out on brightness and music button's but what it has is among the best display in the entire psp model lineup btw I have both the street and 3000 model ...
I actually bought one back then, it also was my first ever PSP and honestly I didn’t need more than the Street. The lack of WiFi never bugged me personally, all I cared about was it being able to let me play games. I still have it too and still use it. Really enjoy using it to this day.
That PSP is actually pretty sleek and almost ahead of its time designwise. No wifi would've been a dealbreaker though kind of like the Wii Mini. Good video and interesting hardware none the less.
Honestly the Street should not have been a Budget Model. It should have had Bluetooth,Better Speakers, all standard features. This should have been the definitive PSP.
Actually the PSP 1000-3000 series all had very dramatic hardware revisions, the screens being one of the three primary points. Between the 1000 vs the 2xxx or 3xxx, GO and Street (e1000) there was a specific revision regarding increased memory for the ram from 32MB to 64MB, and each new model of PSP having an alternative screen panel which increased it's max brightness. 3000 had a wider color range, and e1000 had a very badly calibrated screen (colors are washed out at max brightness). From 1xxx to the second and third models, the UMD drive was altered from a spring based hook/latch based system to a manual lid style that required you to pull the cover off.
When my 3000 got it's back ripped off by my younger brother I got this and honestly loved it. I modded it as you kinda do with psps at this point and it was so so fun. Hated the start and select buttons being so squishy though.
I find it amusing how the PSPgo and PSPstreet are complete opposites one focusing on being premium compact and purely digital media based, the other cheep, bloated and relying entirely on discs (well you could then also copy games from PS3 store I suppose)
This is my favorite model. Feels nicer to hold, an the screen don't suffer from ghosting and scanlines, compared to the 2000-3000 models. I don't care about multiplayer, and only use physical discs, so no wifi is not a problem for me. Also no damn glossy finish.
my favorite model. dont care much about the cons because i modded it anyway and use headphones. battery was a lot better than any psp model. still running to this day!
To get the battery is pretty easy, you just have to “unlock” the holders which holds the back plate on its place. After that you have to uncover screw sticker and unscrew battery plate. I am going to change the battery, I want powerful one. Because mine has already low charge.
Bought this PSP recently because my other PSPs aren't in very good condition and I found this model in good condition for a good price. Works well, it's my main PSP now. Viewing angles are bad and mono audio coming from the left is a bit unbalanced, but otherwise great.
i have psp-E1004 with SD card full of emulators im from Poland battery is easy to replace just pull disc door from right side to left then remove one philips screw then remove battery door and you can unplug battery and plug new my console is still clean and not scratched
Who else would love a new Vita? This time give it an L3 and R3 and L2 and R2. That was all it lacked. I spent so many hours on mine but would have put more in if those buttons existed. I think they’d have helped with third party support too.
The Vita needed the following - SD Card Slot - More 1st Party Support (New Studios Needed Most Likely) - L2/3 & R2/3 - Content Not Relient On The Internet
I remember getting this PSP back in 2012 as a gift. Only lasted about a year before it fell on the concrete and it unfortunately broke. I remember having so many good memories playing it during road trips etc, so I bought the same one again earlier this year. Seriously, buying another one was such a good decision.
I loved everything about it, the design is super dope and beautiful too, but I just hated the fact with the wlan(you can mod it onto it tho) . Still a dope second-psp to have for single player games etc.! It was an absolute steal for 99 bucks back in the day, now its way cheaper used obviously around 20 bucks max here in europe. I got a deal back when it was new for 79 bucks with 3 games I could choose. The touch buttons makes it one of the best looking psps out there. The white one is just sexy
I never played online on my psp 1000 and I had fun. Plus are wifi wasn't that strong back then (from my experience). I was coo with playing offline and using my psp as a music/video player. But then again I got mine in 06. If I got the psp street in 2011 and it didnt have wifi I woulda been salty.
I always wanted one, for collection purposes and it would be nice to have one for travel, instead of lugging around a switch. Very informative video, thank you

I find it amusing how the PSPgo and PSPstreet are complete opposites one focusing on being premium compact and purely digital media based, the other cheep, bloated and relying entirely on discs (well you could then also copy games from PS3 store I suppose)
Our local tech shop had it in store for yrs.😊
I'd actually like one of these.
Best channel for all things PlayStation.
This is my favorite model. Feels nicer to hold, an the screen don't suffer from ghosting and scanlines, compared to the 2000-3000 models. I don't care about multiplayer, and only use physical discs, so no wifi is not a problem for me. Also no damn glossy finish.
Not the only one that had a matte back
The psp 1000 also had a matte back
Weirdly enough, this is the only console I've ever gotten, it's still kinda workin, the audio is crackly and the battery kinda sucks now, but its cool
my favorite model. dont care much about the cons because i modded it anyway and use headphones. battery was a lot better than any psp model. still running to this day!
My favourite handheld console until Ps Vita came out , still got it and also PSP Go!
Ryan keep the ps vids coming man… love ‘em!!!
I had this one. Only this one. In fact I still have it. It's beat up as heck, but still works perfectly, and holds a good charge.
Have you modded it?
Ohh I had the Street one. I was so small, I didn't even know the differences between the models, so I was very happy 😅
as a psp lover i gotta say. Its a real beauty! Would love to have one!
PSP 3000 is peak model. I wish I had my 3000 model but I'm happy with my 16gb PSP GO.
Brings back lot of memories.
This was the only psp I ever had :,)
Wow, I have multiples of every other PSP model, but had no idea this even existed.
My first PSP that i bought all the way back in early 2012, about a month or so before i bought my original design Wii.
Don't know if anyone has commented but the fat 1000 is also matte black on the back. The e1000 is kinda what I wish a remodeled 1000 would be.
I saw a few of these pre-owned being sold at a game store in Germany a few years ago. I assumed they were exclusive to European countries.
They are exclusive to Europe and Asia, there was never a US release or Japan release.
To get the battery is pretty easy, you just have to “unlock” the holders which holds the back plate on its place. After that you have to uncover screw sticker and unscrew battery plate. I am going to change the battery, I want powerful one. Because mine has already low charge.
The PSP was something else, such an amazing handheld
The Vita needed the following
- SD Card Slot
- More 1st Party Support (New Studios Needed Most Likely)
- L2/3 & R2/3
- Content Not Relient On The Internet
@@CreativeWM_Personal forgot about the proprietary memory issue. Fuckin Nintendo even gave into normal SD memory for the switch. Nintendo ffs!
I could had sworn that they announced it at 1 of the E3s.
When you could still buy the PSP 3000 brand new, it was going for about $130 back in 2013.
That’s the only model I have that isn’t torn apart from younger me, although the battery inside is long gone
I remember getting this PSP back in 2012 as a gift. Only lasted about a year before it fell on the concrete and it unfortunately broke.
I remember having so many good memories playing it during road trips etc, so I bought the same one again earlier this year. Seriously, buying another one was such a good decision.
This is my first console portable game..psp street!!! This is totally awesome
This is the only model I knew about, psp street! My first PlayStation console!
PSP is my favorite game console
I never played online on my psp 1000 and I had fun. Plus are wifi wasn't that strong back then (from my experience). I was coo with playing offline and using my psp as a music/video player. But then again I got mine in 06. If I got the psp street in 2011 and it didnt have wifi I woulda been salty.
I always wanted one, for collection purposes and it would be nice to have one for travel, instead of lugging around a switch.
Very informative video, thank you
I bought one of these recently to add to my collection, just need a 2000/3000. Will justify it soon. Enjoy your PsP street m8
