About The Jim Jefferies Show:
The Jim Jefferies Show is here to shake up the humdrum formula of the political late-night show. Jim tackles the news of the day with no-bulls**t candor, piercing insight and a uniquely Aussie viewpoint.

You know you have reached rock bottom when comedians are urging politicians to be serious
Well that means we have been at rock bottom for a century because that is what comedians do and make it funny. But we kind of have for the last century. :(
Especially when we hit that point 20 years ago with John Stewart...lol
Or perhaps you have reached rock bottom when you don’t realize Comedy Central is fake news
Especially since said comedian was caught editing interviews to make someone look bad and himself look less like an idiot.... Jim....
@@Ozzygirl1 what was edited and changed?
"I think it will change back"
said no climate scientist ever...
Oh, it will. In a few centuries to millenia, the Earth will have recovered. Question is: will we still be there to see it?
Frederik
Think tens of millions of years. That's how long it will take to cons out of the hot house we are creating.
And the 30% of species that we wipe out are never coming back.
The world as the entire history of humanity has known it is never coming back.
@@michaelrch all depends on how fast we act.
autohmae
Sure, the scale of the change depends on what we do.
But even if we stopped emissions tomorrow, we will won't get back to preindustrial temperatures for a long loooong time.
We have set off too many other warming mechanisms.
Not having as much polar ice has changed the equilibrium temperature. As has chipping down most of the forests. As has releasing a load of methane from the permafrost. Etc etc
Plus even when we have stopped emitting, we can't stop there. We actually have to pull hundreds of billions of tons of CO2 back out of the atmosphere. We have to get down from 415ppm (or whatever we peak at in future, which will more likely be 450ppm) back down to 350ppm to have a stable climate at +1.5C...
Lots to do. 😳
@@michaelrch we have no certainty about anything, but it's very likely true. In theory we could do all that. In theory. :-(
That moment when you start rethinking your opinion on Thanos
You don't have to go that far, just think about the one child per family policy the chinese have had. What other country has sofar institued a regulation to battle over population sufficiently enough?
Over population is not the problem it's first world over consumption.
@@kinngrimm Overpopulation is the least of our issues. Our planet can hold 16 billion people. The human population, at an average life expectancy of 75 years, with current birth rates, will top out at 11 billion. We'd need to get almost 100 years old on average for overpopulation to become an issue.
Also with better medicine and social security, birth rates decline as families don't need 8+ children for two-three of them to survive and take care of their parents in old age.
We also currently have the means to feed literally every single human being on earth effortlessly. Distribution is the issue, not population.
No, the population would not be a problem if it consisted of rational managable individuals with nothing but the good of our habitat in mind and no self interests. Unfortunately that would be some other species, a good bunch of Homo Sapiens still hold "the goat hearders' guide to the galaxy" and other fairy tales as the elevated truth to live by. If not even the greatest country in the world (that's what they claim although apparently an idiocracy gravely retarded by religion) can do better than to elect an openly corrupt, fascist, anti science, anti intellectual leader to continue business as usual to maybe save a buck or two there is no reason in hell to expect people in developing countries to be the responsible adult around is there? The inertia in all these social, economic, religious systems are huge and in the end genetically we have not advanced beyond the stone age. Of course population is key and be sure it is going to self adjust in a couple of decades just like any species when the population number overgrows it's natural limitations, just with the difference that foxes don't have nukes.
One of the key reasons for WHY we overconsume is that American style (run amok) capitalism demands constant, neverending growth, and products are now built to fail or designed to become obsolete within an artificially determined time frame, marketing is psychologically manipulating us into thinking we can't possibly lead happy, fulfilling lives with a two year old phone or a ten year old car, fashion lasts for three months and interior decoration needs updating every few years. We don't KEEP things anymore. We don't even build HOUSES to last. Everything is single-use. We need a culture adjustment.
That... and we could stand to reproduce a little less.

“Most people prefer to believe that their leaders are just and fair, even in the face of evidence to the contrary, because once a citizen acknowledges that the government under which he lives is lying and corrupt, the citizen has to choose what he or she will do about it. To take action in the face of corrupt government entails risks of harm to life and loved ones. To choose to do nothing is to surrender one’s self-image of standing for principles. Most people do not have the courage to face that choice. Hence, most propaganda is not designed to fool the critical thinker but only to give moral cowards an excuse not to think at all.”

They should talk about the sky rocketing methane emissions not just carbon emissions
All emissions are bad. Methane as an immediate emission is worse than CO2. Fortunately, methane has a much shorter half life in our atmosphere so it’s negative effects on the environment aren’t as compounded as CO2. We also have ticking C02 bombs around the world. Like in rocks that are being broken down by acid rain, permafrost, and the deep ocean.
Methane is a big problem, but because less of it is emitted compared to carbon dioxide, carbon dioxide is the main driver of climate change.
@@azollafiliculoides9922 how many animals do you eat on a daily basis 🤔 they all shit and fart for the 18 months they are farmed
@@azollafiliculoides9922 they consume water and food . Water has to come from some where and the land to grow the food takes how much carbon dioxide and carbon monoxide to clear and cultivate. Our vast consume of dairy and meat products on a daily basis instead of maybe weekly or even monthly 🤔
@@rosszimmerman7745 I'm not saying that it's not a big problem. Our methane emissions (not just from livestock, but from leaking natural gas facilities, soil and water degradation, etc.) are contributing to climate change and need to be addressed. I was just saying that the reason why carbon dioxide is discussed more is because carbon dioxide is a larger portion of the greenhouse gases that we produce than methane. Both are extremely important issues, but carbon dioxide is the main contributor.
Trump: “I’m not denying climate change, but it could got back.”

the funny thing is they are different camps who call each other retards. Watching Climate change deniers flat earthers and moon hoax guys argue is the funniest thing you'll ever experience.
Can you please make a video about how climate change can’t be fake?? Because too many people honestly think that.
I'm afraid we can't convince them with facts of any kind. They choose to believe it's fake because it's beneficial to them; financially, socially or mentally..
The issue is not whether or not climate change is real or fake, it is the severity of it and the real causes of it. 125,000 years ago much of the planet was covered in ice. Now, i don't know when you last looked outside, but most of that ice has now gone. Therefore the climate has been changing for quite a long time, one might say thousands of years, but cars have only been around for little over a hundred years. So what caused the climate to warm up and melt the ice 50,000 years ago? People are looking for someone or something to blame it on, so they go after the easiest target and governments use that as an excuse to levy more and more taxes.
calibrazxr750 it’s not that easy to deny that what we experience is because of us. Man made pollution has caused a lot of catastrophes not only a few degrees. We can calculate how much of a certain chemical will produce toxins in the process. Every country, every company has to know how much co2 they are producing. These processes have been tested and theses have been proven with lots of experiments. They explain exactly how it affects us. They will know where the toxic stuff goes and if it’s stays on earth or travels up, leaves the earth or destroys sth on the way. Maybe in the past we didnt know but with the information we have today we can say for a fact that we contribute a lot to climate change.
This isn't getting enough attention. Make a few more if you fancy 😌

The policy problem isn't that global warming is seriously going to fuck shit up. The problem is that it's going to fuck shit up in at least 40-50 years. If global warming was an imminent threat i.e. its consequences were being felt right here and now then we'd be doing something about it. But it's a problem of the future and because of that fact we're less inclined to deal with it. We don't give a shit if it doesn't affect us at the present moment.
