    Also when you make the fiber glass foam plug, do you use the foam first and then fiber glass the foam? I am new at this. Thank You!

    I am starting to realize how creative one can be with concrete. I had my first "fair sale" last night and I think I may have underpriced my pieces. Sold 2/3 of my inventory in 3 hours. I used moving blankets to help transport....wonder if you have any tips on transporting statuary?

    • @mrconcreteartisan
      @mrconcreteartisan  5 років тому

      Wow! Well congrats Gaffster, that's awesome for your first sale.It's tough to get the pricing right at first ,it's pretty much figure out what your market can bare.No real secrets,leaning them on a 45 degree angle on each other with sheets ,burlap, bubble wrap or cardboard. Largest pieces loaded in first ,then mediums to smalls. Plastic milk crates are awesome for smalls.Good luck ,soounds like you're off to a great start.👍😀

      I know someone who sells statues wholesale and he uses lots and lots of burlap sacks and leans them on an angle just like gris mentioned. Congrats on your sales . I had the same experience my first time . People really love concrete statues. Just be careful of people who ask to many questions or you may find yourself with a competitor. let them figure it out on there own by research like you did. I had a couple that was really interested in the process and the next thing i knew they were vendors that set up right down from me selling the same thing.

    Can fibreglass moulds be used to cast terracotta slip? Basically can they be used for slip casting?

    Hi if you purchased the latex with out the fiber glass how do u fill the latex to put the fiber glass backing on thanks

      Hi ,mark sorry it took so long to get back at you. If it's a small you can suspend it by it's bottom flange with some small clamps over a tupperware container, and pour with plaster. If it's larger and will deform too much ,here's an old time trick. Wet some newspaper in a sink ,squeeze out the water and start filling the rubbermold ,being careful to maintain original size. flip it over and do your glass.Good luck my man.👍😃

    Are you able to use just pva without the wax? What kind of foam do you use? Thank you!!

    • @mrconcreteartisan
      @mrconcreteartisan  5 років тому

      I strongly suggest the wax,you dont have to use the specialty wax I use,carnuba wax is readily available and works great.

    What are the vents for??

    • @mrconcreteartisan
      @mrconcreteartisan  5 років тому +1

      Hi Bryan, the vents are used to create a flow for the concrete, and to release trapped air and avoid air bubbles in our finished piece.

    Is there violation of replicating statue you bought from any store and sell it,or is it against the law. Can anybody answer my question.

    • @mrconcreteartisan
      @mrconcreteartisan  Рік тому

      Stay away from any large company models, Disney ,star wars , etc. Also many private mold makers will trade mark stamp their work and you should be honest and respect their trade mark. There are plenty of models available online that fall under "fair use" laws. These are plentiful and freely available.If you are ever in doubt you can also transform the model with the use of clay or other materials to enlarge ,reconfigure,alter the original by 25% to be able to copy. There is plenty out there to copy and use for models ,there should be no need to copy trade marked items.If you really have the urge you can create your own 100% model by being creative with clay, expand your horizons .Hope this helped.
