You have no idea how helpful this was. I ran into a lot questions when I tried UV mapping myself and pretty much everything was shown and structured so well. Kudos my man!
I can watch your videos for hours. Never bores me. Very informative and helpful. Thanks a lot and there goes the like you deserve, just like that, boom 😉
You are the best teacher I have ever seen. I knew nothing about UV mapping for almost one and a half years before watching these videos. But when I watched these videos I found them very helpful for both beginners and experts. Thanks a lot, sir for your services
I was just working on a custom character and trying to work on the UV's your timing couldn't be any better. Will be returning to this very soon for full viewing. Thank you for the content.
Gosh, this custom checker map technique is much better than that default boring checker map! With it, it's much easier to fix texel densities across the model! Thanks for this whole amazing tutorial.
I've been struggling learning modeling in blender, with things like uvs in particular. You're tempting me to just start fresh learning Maya with how good your tutorials are. I know Blender is easier but it seems Maya is the best solution for 3d modeling.
In general it is bad practice to just leave your cylindrical shapes in a weird bent shape. You should always unfold cylyndrical shapes in a straight line wherever possible. With wheels and tires this is important to make texturing a lot easier, and gives you more texel density. Please don't leave your unwraps all bent out of shape. For wheels specifically use cylindrical mapping under the UV dropdown and afterwards place the seam where it needs to be if its not correct, then use Unfold U or Unfold V to unfold only in one direction.
Thank you, I use follow active quads in Blender to get my cylinder strips, it's super effective especially for objects when texturing first ie using a trim sheet.
Really helpful, I was doing uv mapping with just some research while doing it, but now that I have seen the whole video I think I know much more about it!!
Since you said about adding comments on UV workflow. I find once you flip on the -1 axis when duplicating an object, the quickest way is not necessary to unfold again and rotate, but simply flip the UV, that way both UV's are identical mirrors too.
Thank you so much I appreciate your time to share with us ur knowledge, you explained it in an easy way more than I expected, I have always struggled with UV mapping but here we go I will try to follow your UV mapping work flow and hope to do well
Like the rest of your tutorials prior to this one, the content here is again priceless. For a heavy task like UV mapping (in Maya) to be simplified in quite an articulate and easy-to-follow tutorial, you ought to know you are a big blessing. Thank you so much.
Thank you so much for yet another very useful video. You've covered every issue I went through while unwrapping my models, I'll definitely send this video to anyone asking me about UV unwrapping from now on.
amazing tutorial I've been struggling to find a free tutorial about uv unwrapping and boom i found your video 😄 you covered almost everything in a short amount of time thank you a lot. I subscribed your chanell from now on i always watch your tutorials and other videos also😍
All of ur classes are great. Learned a lot of things. Thanks for that. It would be much more helpfull if you make a video on rigging this car. Ry looking forward for it. 😇👍
Great tutorial over UVW Mapping..please also on hypershadde and materials textures class over maya sir ...please sir because you really explains very good sir..Hi sir myself Rony an VFX CG student from India
Finnalley a indepth Tutorial explaining uv's :D most of the tutorials i have seen are just put seams here and Done!. without going in-depth like you did you explain to me at least the most Basic Stuff that i need to understand to export Good Stuff. and yes I'm a blender user. and most of these thing (if not all) can Translatated in blender. just in blender have different Nammings. which is gonna be the hard part ;-;.
re the back part of the car, i would split it down the middle, then each half would map with less distortion generally in blender I lay them out either side of the mirror centre then apply a mirror, with x on the data turned on
Using the 3D cut and sew tool right now, uv mapping a Roman Bireme Ship and damn it feels so much more cathartic than working in the UV editor ahahahah.

The UVs do not need to be perfectly flat unless you need perfect tiling for a specific pattern. If you do, then this video will help you learn how to unwrap your UVs so they are perfectly flat: ua-cam.com/video/ujyxtqcdiLM/v-deo.html
does uv tile affect the scale and quality resolution of the texture? fe. i am making blocks of metal, if i make one block in one uv tile, will it show better quality then if I make several blocks in one uv tile?
Hello sir, when should we do uv i mean i have modelled car according to smooth preview but now my question is when should i do uv, should i do uvunwrap in smooth preview or should i first apply smooth to every thing and then do uv. But when i do uvs in smooth preview without applying smooth to everything than it leads to uv distortion and everything gets red in uv distortion, please tell me what to do
may I ask what are your unfold parameters? because most of the times when I try to unfold something, even the easiest mesh, the result is really bad (the seams I do are correct, in fact on 3dsmax I have no problem making UVs with the pelt map) Thanks in advance
I just use the default settings. Make sure you double check your plugin settings, 'Unfold3D' should be enabled in the plugins if not, it will use the legacy Unfold settings which doesn't work nearly as well.

your tutorials are amazing and very well explained... can you make a tutorial on how to rig a car? this is something that I cannot find anywhere
Thats a really good tutorial❤❤
Not even one comment on that stunning Fairlady, I despair for the world
It's one of my favorite cars, I have a whole series on how to model the 240z.
Nice tutorial~ Thanks
you should launch your tutorial courses already! you are giving away too much good information for free. Thanks for the courses
That's the point, my tutorials are all free :)

I LOVE YOUR VIDEOSSSS AHHH
Can u plz make a tutorial how to do all the texture like car paint tire colour and headlights how to light them in renders
Coming this weekend!
Can you make the same video using 3ds Max for us, please
great thanks
No worries!
thank you so much
yo man tnx for this!
No problem!
awesome 😎
Thank you! Cheers!
Does the same information that I learned from here apply to any 3D software, such as Blender?
I love it very fantastic
thanks bro
One question I have is how do you prevent artifacts in substance painter after baking. I get these horrible dark low resolution edges on my models
do we have to straighten Uv after unfold .. u didn't mention that in the video .. plz clear my doubt,, IS unfold is enough?

Can anyone tell where we get model like this for free...
Is it possible for you to run aerodynamic drag on this car or if possible share the file :)
The model is available for purchase. It's not modeled off CAD but give you good results to test aero sims.
How do you export that model with the uv cheker on?
I just applied a checker box texture to the material.

There should be no issue when UV mapping before the low poly. You just need to make sure to enable "smooth UVs" in the settings.
@@OnMars3D Thank you sir, i will definitely follow it

Btw keep it up man, your work is great 💪
I have made a buggy, but after cutting it and unfolding it the squares on the uv are stretching. Why does it happen?
Do I have to manually strech my uv shells to make it square shapes?
what about multiple udims?
You can use UDIMS, no problem. I cover that in this video here: ua-cam.com/video/JiEQNDZapXs/v-deo.html
@@OnMars3D thank u so much. I will check it out.

wait this is not doom play through
Thx for uploading! Do not miss out - Promo>SM !!

Swear to god whoever designed uvs didn’t try their system cos it sucks
Blender UV Tools are way worse!
