hi Mars, nice vidéo :), instead of the stich together button, in UV mode for the spiral, just select all edges , then unselect the seam, then press shift+righ clic, move and sew edges (on the top part). cheers!
Even the ad that played before the video was Garnier UV Mist. Thank you so much for another UV video, I always struggle with UV. Stack Similar trick was great, I will be using it a lot from now on, I was working on a scene where there are many similar shaped objects, this will surely free up uv space.
Thanks for the video! Btw, in Maya you have selection constraints(Select menu - > Use constraint), where you can choose several options like selecting hard edges etc. Perhaps it's same what Blender has. There is also angle constraints in those options and even more for different component type(edge/vert/face). Pretty cool. But not super intuitive, imo.
That's my mistake! I completely forgot about Select > Use Constraints. It works well but the menu is convoluted in my opinion, so I'd still use the custom script. Thanks for the reminder!
Hello! Those are pretty neat tips, thank you! Regarding selecting sharp edges, there is an option/tool in Maya by default under the Select Tab, I think, called Use Constraint and there you can specify to select by smoothing (hard, smooth) or by Angle (min/max), but the script that You created it's really nice and handy!

I have a doubt in straighten UV Curved- Set in 90 degree ---> Unfold along U & V ---> Straighten UVs. But Starting and ending remains the same it only straighten the UV of the middle part
Hey, 3D modeller here still with much to learn it seems :D Something you do when straightening your uvs is that you unfold the U and V separately before straightening. Does that have an effect? Would you get the same result just using unfold and straigten uvs or are there some slight differences to uvs when unfolded separately?
I always find hard to grow selection. The hotkey is " > " or CTRL+" > " but for me on an canadian english keyboard but using the US keyboard what is working is the Shift + " > " (technically a ' . ")
You'd have to either pack them all again or use Get then Set under Transform for Texel Density. No matter what, you'd have to adjust the UV shell size to match
Thank you so much again, I've learned new unwrapping tips I wanted to ask, there are times when my UVs don't get stitched together when i try to sew them why does that happen? Is it bug?

You made UV mapping so easy for me to understand.
Thank you so much!
I'm glad you did not give up on maya

@@OnMars3D Absolutely agree on menu! No problems, keep it up, i learned a lot on your videos! Thank you!

U can select hard edges etc in maya just use selection constraints

Can you please make a detailed video on where amd where not to use triangles in 3d modelling please sir 🙏🙏
Your content is so good , damn !

How do you deal with Layout not maintaining the same texel density for all shells?
guys to select neighbour faces press ( SHIFT+.) And to deselect neighbour faces press (SHIFT+,)👍
Guys, if ctrl + period did not work to select neighbour faces, shift + period worked for me.
is there a way to deselect faces the same way?
nvm i found it. it's shift+,
I always find hard to grow selection. The hotkey is " > " or CTRL+" > " but for me on an canadian english keyboard but using the US keyboard what is working is the Shift + " > " (technically a ' . ")
Oh that's good to know, I'll keep that in mind for future videos!
What if the size of all uv are different or all are in same size
Which is good
Or how to set all uv in a tile with resizing
You'd have to either pack them all again or use Get then Set under Transform for Texel Density. No matter what, you'd have to adjust the UV shell size to match
Bro how to Do 4k layout uvs
