Bro, you just saved my life. I haven't driven my car in a while because I got another one. My daughter Is a new driver, so I let her drive to school. When I went to go drive, the seat wouldn't move backwards, and I'm 6 foot 2. And I could not get my legs to puch on the pedal.I thought I was gonna need a ride out of here. This video saved me.Thank you so much.
Thank you! I drove around for 2 days before I found this video, dreading how much this repair would cost me. Amazingly simple and extremely easy fix!
This just saved me at least 3hrs of labor and I become A hero for saving a costumer $350 dolars😄
The exact fix for a family members car. Thank you for the time and thorough explanation!
This has been an ongoing problem since we first bought our genesis in 09. Now have a 2014 with same problem. Even made an appointment to take it in....Then I had a bright idea 😂😂😂😂What's youtube have to say about this problem..with in 2 minutes of watching your video. The light came on in my head...😂😂😂I was like it can't be that simple.. well it was just that simple. I COMEND YOU FOR SHAREING THIS VIDEO WITH ALL WHO HAVE BEEN STUCK. IM 6'3😂😂😂I have never posted anything back to anyone on youtube for their time and effort. So ...We thank you....
Glad I could help 😅
I was 2 hours from home & dropped an important paper under seat, moved seat all the way forward & it stuck to the point, i couldnt drive the car!! After hours of flipping thru manual & searching & trying to clean the tracks, i found this video!! Thank you so much!! I will join your group when i get home (unless i sell this car!!)
thankyou so much. the dealer had given a $300 estimate to fix and the wiggle fixed in in less than one minute. couldn't get my head low enough to see under the seat but was able to find the limit switch and slide back and forth. just awful when you wife moves the seat forward and you (6 foot) can't move it back.
Great help! Thanks. 2 minutes and I fixed the issue with my passenger seat going forward and not back. Found the switch and clicked back and forth a few times and sure enough the seat works again. Thanks for your advise!
Such a super easy fix, I can’t believe it. THANKS!!
Thank you so much! My seat got stuck on Friday and I found this today. What a great hack! Now I can sit comfortably in my car again :)
Thank you...again...as I had this issue, found this video, fixed it a few years ago. Same issue came up yesterday, couldn't remember this fix until I searched UA-cam again. Perfect.
Glad it helped 🙂
Thank you!!! Just left the car wash and the seat was stuck forward. Was able to pull over and fix it on my way home!
Thanks a million , you just saved me a trip to the dealership $$$$

Omg thank you so much!!!! I’m 6’1 and my seat was not going backwards! This fixed the problem! You’re my money saver!!!
Not all hero’s wear capes thanks man what a lifesaver
A million thanks for this! I'd read about this switch but hadn't been able to find it because I can't get a view under the seat. After watching this video I was able to find and move the switch around after which the seat started working again immediately.
I want to thank this Guy for this video i was in a panic
and by doing the little thing he said it fixed my problem
hi video is right to the point clear no rambling and pleased

Not a problem at all, liking the video and subscribing is all the tip I need :D
You guys are awesome, I have a Equus thought I needed a switch your knowledge saved me hundreds of dollars!
this just happened to my equus..was the switch in the same relative area as video? Having some trouble even looking under the chair! lol
@@captynrj I have a 2016 Equus and my seat won't lean back, it's stuck leaning forward.
I FUCKING LOVE YOU!!! Just so everyone knows this works on the 2013-2017 Hyundai Genesis Coupes too. Bro fuck yeah my knees have been in my dash for 5 weeks now. Hope you have a great life my guy!
xD Glad I could help you out :D
Where’s the limit switch in the Genesis Coupe? I have a 2013..
@@ojpaiara53 if I remember correctly, its more towards the right, front side of the drivers seat. Closer to the console than to the door. its like a little reset switch that pops right back out... I'm pretty sure. my seats are still working fine since I posted this.
Thank you!!!!!! My god. Been driving with the dash in my knees all day!!!😂
Wow thank you so much for posting this!! I have a friend who works on cars and he was talking about taking my whole seat out lol. So glad I found your channel instead and fixed it myself!
Huge help..almost thought I was gonna have to pay to get it fixed 🙏🏾
Thank you for the video. I have a Kia K900 and there is much more info on a Genesis Sedan than a Kia Sedan. They are very silmilar cars..
I didn't think I'd found it, but whatever I did it worked. Moved it back just to stretch out my legs
You are the king! Thanks a million for this easy repair, I can fit into the drivers side again!
Thank you so much, this saved the day!
I’m a subscriber now 👍🏽
Wow. Worked like a champ on my 2013 genesis with the driver seat stuck forward. Thx a lot.
Thank you Thank you Thank you. My seat has been stuck for 2 mo ths and I had no idea there was that other limit switch. Completely fixed. You are the MAN!!!!!! SUBSCRIBED.
You sir are a hero among hero’s I was panicking on how to fix this thank you sm ! Ezzz fix Fs I new it couldn’t have been the motor cuz it when every direction expect back so thank u
Wow. This was very helpful!
Took a while to find the switch. That white thing fairly big and the entire thing can move. So feel free to shake it!
That limit switch trick worked! My 2013 genesis sedan drivers door has gotten stuck a few times. Thanks for the heads up!
This is an amazing video, you just saved my a ton of cash. Many thanks all the way from OMAN.
Thanks to you, my genesis is fixed!!!!
You just saved my night bro
Thanks man ! I was vacuuming the genesis and the seat got stuck. I moved the switch back and fourth and the seat began to work!
Thank you!! I just tried this and it worked on my Genesis Coupe 2013
Where is the limit switch for the gen I can’t seem to find it
What issue did you have? I've a 2013 Gen Coupe and driver seat won't go forward, it does all the other motions though.
Y’all find the switch? Tryna find it on my 2013 gennny
@@sudeepagalgaonkar512 That’s the issue I have on my ‘13 Genesis, seat goes all the way back and then won’t move forward. I usually squeeze and pull on the wire looms he shows in his video towards the front of the seat, without disconnecting them, and it starts working again.
@@jeffpacetti5800 I replaced the switch I bought from eBay, easy assembly. Guess I should have tried what you did before, lol.
Wild bro fixed it just like that 😂😂😂
Thanks for this. Wish I would have found it before buying a replacement switch though :(
Thanks save $$ left car wash stuck forward !!!!!!!easy fix
If I could give you 10 likes I would!!!! Thank you mine stopped going back and I’m 6’2!!! A few minutes and it works.
30 second fix, thank you!
Man this video is so golden! 100% works!
Thank you.. thank you!!! This worked.. really thank you so much for making this video!!!
Every couple of years I have to find this video again to fix my seat. My problem is that my seat memory buttons always scoot the seat all the way back. So when someone drives my car, they hit the memory button thinking they’re doing me a favor and they break the seat. Love this car but this is one of the few headaches I have with it.
Thank you so much From Best Choice Motors you are the Best..
Wow , you are that guy brother
Thank you so much for posting this helped me out so much
❤❤❤OMG IT WORKED!!!!! THANK YOU SOO MUCH YOU SAVE ME MONEY.
wishing you good karma from August of 2024. Just fixed my seat. Thanks!!
This video helped me fix my issue! Thank You!
Thank you veeeeeryyyyy much for this video. As the rest comments say you saved me money and time. I appreciate you)))
Thank you very much, you are a life saver ❤️ greetings from libya
Please do a video on replacing the driver seat trim. Do the buttons/control come out as it's own trim or part? I need to replace the trim and want to know before taking apart 🤔
I haven't needed to mess with that yet but from looking at it you would take the front panel off first then the side panel with the controls on it off as one piece
@@GenerationGarage Thank you! So the switch panel is connected to the side trim?
@@colettedubose No problem & Yeah it should pull off as an entire piece
You are an absolute SAINT!!!!
Saved me from being squashed against the steering wheel
Hey, Generation Garage. this is pretty fun video. thank. :)
Thank you so much was a 10 minute fix!!!!
0:40 on 2015 Equus the limit switch is on the left side vs. the right as shown in this video
Thanks for the info! Was able to apply this fix to my daughter's 2013 Santa Fe. 5 minute fix!
Bro!! Thank you so much!! This just happened to me at the gym and after moving it all the way back it got stuck- and this fixed it right up!!
I can’t seem to find the second front switch you mentioned. I have a 2010
Its there its just pretty far back, should be the same for all 09-14
I played with the rear one and it doesn’t do much. The seat will still go back, but not forward. When I put direct power to the motor, it goes forward. But playing with the rear limiter switch does nothing. Any advice?
@@gorillabeats5931 Switch may be broken but it did take a few mins of wiggling it and pushing it back and forth to get mine to work again
Thank you for this information, worked great!!! But.....have you figured out how to turn off the seat memory? I replaced the limit switch through the dealer under warranty on my 2014 in 2019. Now in 2021 I’m having problems again! I just need to figure out how to turn off the memory function to hopefully save wear on this switch. Thanks again!
its in the hidden menu on the head unit I believe, its called easy access mode and you can turn it off, that's what I did anyway
THANK YOU FIXED INSTANTLY
Thanks, this did the trick!
Thanks a lot. Worked on my 2015 Equus
I have a 2014 equus. i cant find the switch. Any tips on finding it?
Where’s the switch ? I have a 2015 Genesis sedan shouldn’t be diff I can’t find the switch
@@guillermobuenrostro8832 you ever find the switch man just got a 2015 Genesis and cannot find it
It worked!!! Thx u 🥰🥰💯
Do you know anything about the faulty brake modules in this model?
The EPB is common to go bad on the 2011 through 2014 BH sedans, 09-10 have manual parking brakes via cable. New units are pretty expensive so i'd look on ebay for a used one and the unit is located on top of the rear subframe closer to the middle of the car
For me the car seat is stuck in the recline position, but can move forward and back, should I replace the switch?
That may fix it but id try and bypass the switch first to make sure its the switch and not a faulty motor
@adomashun9839 I'm having the same issue. What did you do to fix this issue? Thank so much in advance.
Jan 3 2024. Watched video and tried to find limit switch. I am 84 and have a genetic condition with my hands. Also I have trouble seeing and hearing, getting down on my knees and bending over They do not work that well. Off to Hundai dealer La Quinta, Ca. Service writer looks at car and says the controls on the side of the seat are the only switches. I told him about the video and li9mit switch. " I can make you an appointment towards the end of the month or you can drop the car off and leave it for a couple of days and we will diagnose it for you." I left and watched the video agin and determined that it was shot from the back seat. Without ever seeing the switch, I felt around and moved 'something.' It is fixed. My son had the identical problem with his EQUUS 2 years ago. Dealer kept car 2 days and charged him $200 for 'new motor'. Many thanks to the maker of video and NO thanks to the dealership.
Glad you were able to get it fixed! Thanks for the comment, it's nice to see this video it still helping people out 😀
I own a 2018 G90 Ultimate and my drivers front seat would not go up on down also hearing a squeak and while I knew it needed to be oiled I did not do it in time apparently and it got “stuck” would go down, but it would not go back up unless I pushed the memory button on the door. But it was the limit switch. Why would the memory button work but the seat adjustment wouldn’t? Two separate systems? I am an avionic systems engineer, so these type of things intrigue me for some reason.
The G90 is a lot newer of a vehicle so I could see it maybe having 2 different systems or one circuit just has more power flowing through it to force the motor over
Great video
Thank you!
Thank you bro you made my day
The tilt on my seat just stopped working. I tilted it up so the front bottom is all the way up now it won't tilt back down
You saved me it works perfectly
My question is I have a 2011 Hyundai in my front seat is literally not bolted to the frame just the front is not the rear
I love you man!
You have a video on just the recliner. my recliner is stuck
I don't have one yet but I may make one eventually
I have a 2016 Equus and it looks a little different. Any tips?
There is probably still a limit switch its just a matter of finding it, took me about an hour with a flashlight upside down with all the blood rushing to my head to find these ones
If not you should still be able to located the motor power connecter and manually move the seat by jumping it with some power
@motivation651
Yo you got any knowledge on changing the anchor pretensioner in genesis?
Thank you so much
Dude ur AWESOME....!!! THANK U SO MUCH. IT WORKED.....
Thank you so much, great help 👏🏻👏🏻👍🏻
On my car I moved one of the cables closest to the front of the seat it has a white connector and it worked again none of the limiter switches did anything the front or the rear
Subscribed.
Thks
It worked great 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
I have a gen coupe and looked under the right side of my drivers seat and found the limit switch on the floor.. snapped off.. 🤦🏻♂️💀
oof thats unfortunate, you might be able to use a pick to press it
@@GenerationGarage oh ok good idea I’ll try it, thanks
My lumbar support is stuck in the forward position. Any idea what would cause that and how to fix it?
I'd remove the seat and jump the motor directly to see if it fixes it
Does this work for the lumbar switch too? I have no issue with the chair going back and forth but the lumber will only go forward, not backwards
you should be able to jump the motor to crack it free just gotta locate it and probe 12v
@@GenerationGarageI have the same issue...may you elaborate on jumping the motor. Thanks
@wastedtv3853 Did you try this or understand the lingo? I'm having the same issue with my lumbar. What did you end up doing to fix it it? I'm in desperate need to fix this safety issue. Thank
@@liciacogan5840 The motor is probably just stuck so what would be the easiest thing to do is remove the seat and locate the lumbar motor then fine the wire to that motor, one you locate the wire that the motor is connected to (most likely a connector) it should have 2 pins that you can take a 12v battery and jump with some wires. If you jump it and the motor moves one way but you want it to move the other way just flip the connection on the battery and itll move the opposite direction, doing this a few times back and forth will free up the motor and should return it to normal once you reinstall the seat. Now if you probe the connecter to the motor and it dosent do anything then the motor itself is bad and will need to be replaced
Mine ONLY goes back. The motor will go forward and back when i place power direct to the motor but when i use the switch, it ONLY goes back. The switch checks out fine which confuses me. How can the switch test out fine yet not move the motor..??
Mine did that so I just kept powering in each direction back and forth with direct power till it worked like normal again with the switch
@@GenerationGarage from what i was reading there is the main switch and the limiter switch which i am guessing interrupts power to the motor to stop it when it reaches a specific point.
The limiter is supposed to be "closed" at all times keeping the power flowing until it reaches that spot then it opens the power flow which stops the motor.
From the diagrams i find online, the diagram to the switch is wrong because the 12V has to switch back and forth to the motor to get it to run back and forward. This diagram of this switch in NO way can swap polarities to the motor to make it move forward and backwards.
I can only assume its the switch because i can manually move the motor with direct power forward and back. I have messed with that limiter toggle switch and for one second the switch DID move the seat forward but thats it. It only did it once.
I really need the service manual for this car to properly diagnose it.
@@ACommenterOnUA-cam Yeah not to much stuff online about the issue or how to fix it other then what I found and put into this video, I just set my seat into a right spot I like it and left it alone also if you do that make sure to turn off the auto seat option so it wont move the seat when you turn the car off
The limit switch interrupts current to the motor when the seat is near its stops. This is to prevent the motor from trying to spin when the seat can't physically move anymore - it's the same principle used by older garage door openers. Anyway, there's a limit switch for the rearward motion, and so there's also one for the forward motion. It sounds like your forward limit switch is faulty - this video only talks about the problem with the rear limit switch. Your broken limit switch is telling the control circuit that the seat is already all the way forward, and so the control circuit won't let the motor turn in the forward direction anymore. You need to find the forward limit switch and toggle it a few times.
@@SuperFunkmasterj it was the main seat switch, not the limiter as you spoke of. I put in a new one and now it goes forward and back with no issue.
Wholy gd Jesus fuck, I've had this issue 3 times now and with your vid I finally found the switch that I've been blindly hitting after like an hour. Thank you
Could this problem be on my Smart for two? I can seam to move my seat toward, I was vacuuming the carpet and now seat is stuck. 😢
could possibly, only way to know for sure is to look under with a flash light and see if you can find a lever or switch of some sort to move
Thanks allot
Hi there! Found a wire under the drivers seat that has nothing to connect to. Black harness, people and yellow connector. Can you help out and let me know which connector does what under the drivers seat? Can’t find schematics for it.
If it has a yellow connector on it then its most likely an air bag wire or pressure sensor
@@GenerationGarage is there a possibility for you to send a picture under your drivers seat somehow?
@@Sacci9 you can join my group and make a post and im sure one of my members will have one to send to you
Great info. I was able to reset the limit switch and the seat worked as it should, however when the car starts and the seat automatically cycles to the rear , it sticks again? If you deselect the "easy Access" will the memory settings still work?
I disabled mine on the head unit and yes the memory functions will still work as they should the seat just wont go back automatically when you shut off the car
Does this work on the backrest too? I have a 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe, and the backrest is reclined back and will no longer incline forward. I haven’t been able to find any videos with info on it. Thx
I wouldn't be surprised but I'm honestly not sure, best thing to do would be to get down under it and start looking around, maybe remove the seat completely and have a look for a limit switch or probe power to the motor directly to see if it moves
@@GenerationGarage Thank you 🙏
@missvela9535 hi I'm having the same issue. How did you repair it? I'm in desperate need to fix it, I can barely see the road. Thanks so much in advance
@@liciacogan5840 I actually haven’t repaired it. I just put a really thick pillow on my backrest lol. Supposedly the back cover on the seat backrest needs to be removed and fuses be checked.
Is the limit switch accesses from the back part or the front?
There's 2 so one from the back and one from the front
Thanks man!
