Thank you so much for posting this. Hyundai quoted my mom $750 to diagnose and replace the switch, which is what they said the problem was. They quoted the switch at $500 part cost. I worked at Hyundai previously and the switch part costs $50. Dealerships up charge significantly. My husband and I took apart her seat yesterday, as her “upward” on the recline seat stopped working. It was one of the little metal balls out of place. Fixed the metal ball, and it works perfectly. Thank you so much.
@@hariswaqar2500 you take it apart as in the video all the way to the motherboard… when you pop open the place where the metal balls are at, gently get something to grab them with such as tweezers and fix them back into place. This video is excellent just follow every step!
Oh man thank you for this!! 😢 Hyundai told me yesterday that I needed an entirely new seat! $2600 + $400 labor! Mine won't go backwards. I hope it's just the same problem you had.
Cannot believe this has worked, absolute legend for sharing this! Have just saved myself £1500 as quoted to fix it! My seat wouldn’t recline forward. Was stuck using a cushion to support my back up.
Thank god you posted this I couldn’t find a solution anywhere and really didn’t want to spend hundreds fixing my seat. The ball wasn’t even out of place for me I just cleaned and it worked again
Thanks for this video, I too had this issue on my 2017 Tucson and had to get roadside assistance service (RAA) out. They diagnosed faulty switch. After watching your video I decided that the ball bearings may have moved. My solution was to use a large rubber mallet and while holding the lever in the forward position gently tap the area where the switch was located and after less than six thumps the seat motor engaged. Probably saved me a small fortune if I had taken the car to a mechanic and they replaced the switch. 🙏👍
Thanks a ton. I had the exact same problem that all the other functions work but the tilting forward would not work. That ball out of place was the problem. Been suffering for about a year.Glad I came across your video. 👍👍👍👍👏👏
Thank you so much. I went to recline my seat, and when i went to bring it back up, it wouldn't work. Every other switch worked except up. Watched your video, and it worked. Thank you!❤
Ball was falling out. I had to pull the spring in the white cover out a bit to ensure it pushes the ball down enough and it works fine. Thank you very much for this as I couldn't get right hand driver replacement but was able to fix it thanks to your video
I’m so old I used to use Haynes manuals to repair my cars, I haven’t worked on a car in decades….until today! Once I figured out how to pop the panel off I was able open up the switch and clean the contacts, put the switch back together (lol, those ball bearings) and it works like a treat!
Thank you very much for sharing this knowledge. I highly appreciate the information. I’m from asia region, owning a Hyundai santa fe 2014 crdi. Same issues with the seat couldn’t recline forward. The balls are not in place and some corroded terminal. I scrap it just like the video and put it back on and it works. Thank god! If not the Hyundai centre would cost me a lot.
Wow we did it step by step Mobile mechanic wanted 100 and 150 for the switch You saved us $250.00 Had a great time with my daughter fixing her car Ty You rock ❤❤❤❤
I did this and was able to move the seat back up to a more comfortable position, but it only worked once, and now I’m back to the switch not reclining forward
To get this switch off the car, you need to remove the trim. For the plastic side chair trim, there are a total of 3 clips. One is on the top right which is a little stubborn, one is in the middle. Both of these you pull straight out. The other clip is on the left side and you have to pull it to the left (towards front of car) and there might be a spot to compress on the clip. The trim should come off but it's attached to the wiring harness. Press on the plastic clamp part and pull it out (not by the wires). Now the trim and switch should be off of the car. Remove the two seat adjuster pieces with a plastic pry tool or a flathead screwdriver covered in painters tape or electrical tape (prevents scratching), not the lumber switch. There will be 3 phillips head screws to remove this overall switch in the video from the trim.
ok si funciono eso me cobraba la agencia de satelite 4800 pesos por cambiar todo el control solo un desarmador plano uno de cruz y un multimetro lo arregle. muchas gx

Hi, I am having the same issue. Can you tell me exactly how you fixed the metal ball and where?

This is my problem too. Hyundai quoted me $800 to replace seat motor.
Fantastic, it worked. The balls were in place but the contacts were dirty. Thanks so much it was easier than I thought. Take it slow.

This makes me happy
I had the dealership knock off $1k from my 2012 KIA Optima due to this issue and I fixed it for free by following your directions. Thanks!!!

This was the best video!!! Never been so happy to have my seat be able to recline forward again!!
I came back many weeks later to thank you for giving me a direction to fix the issue vs replacement. It worked like a charm! Thank you!

Worked like a charm! Cleaned all 8 contact points to be on the safe side and placed balls where they should go.

I opened the switches panel up like you said and greased it and put it back together. Yes the seat goes up now. Thank you❤

Thank you so much… on my case, it was the switch’s copper getting worn out, so i need to scratch it a bit…

Hi, is there a video on how to remove this whole piece from the seat?
I don't remember if i made one or not.
