I love authentic history. So much of history is altered to suit a governments control on what they want their citizens to know and accept, and what they allow them to know of the world. 1st and 2nd hand sources are best for the truth and I thank you for presenting that to everyone who watches. EXCELLENT!! MAHALO SIR!

    Rajahnate of Cebu(The Last Chola):
Around 14th century descendants of Tamil king Raja Raja Chola, Sri Lumay, was sent to Cebu to prepare the base for the expeditionary forces of the Cholas of Sumatra(Indonesia). Instead he established the Rajhanate of Cebu in the island. In April 27, 1521 in the "Battle of Mactan" chieftain "Lapu-Lapu(Cilapulapu)" and his warriors defeated Portuguese explorer Ferdinand Magellan and delayed the Spanish occupation. The Rajahnate itself folded in 1565 when the last King, Sri Tupas or Felipe Tupas, cousin of Rajah Humabon was defeated by another Spanish navigator, Miguel López de Legazpi’s soldiers in April 27, 1565 and subsequently signed the Treaty of Cebu, heralding the end of the Great Cholas, one of the longest ruling dynasties in the world.

@@joyoustv5998 It is necessary to think of the ancestors and be proud. About 86 to 87 percent of the Philippine population belong to the 19 ethnolinguistic groups are classified as neither indigenous nor moro. These groups are sometimes collectively referred to as "Lowland Christianized groups," to distinguish them from the other ethnolinguistic groups. The most populous of these groups, with populations exceeding a million individuals, are Ilocano, Pangasinense, Kapampangan, Tagalog, Bicolano, Visayans and Cebuanos, Boholano, Hiligaynon/Ilonggo, and Waray. Many of these groups converted to Christianity, particularly both the native and migrant lowland-coastal groups, and adopted foreign elements of culture throughout the country's history.
Rajah Humabon Chola was the first filipino chieftain to embrace Christianity from Hinduism. He was the grandson of Sri Lumay Chola the first Rajah and the founder of the Indianized Rajahnate of Cebu. Sri Lumay fought the Magalos or destroyers of peace , this is a Muslim Moro warriors who come from Mindanao, they had been raiding the island of Cebu in search for precious item like gold or ceramics and slaves. When Ferdinand Magellan landed on Cebu on Sunday, April 7, 1521, Rajah Humabon made a blood compact with Magellan as a symbol of their new found friendship. Captivated by its noble teachings, Rajah Humabon Chola was converted into Christianity. On Tamil new year, April 14, 1521, Humabon and his wife, Humamai and about 800 Cebuano's were baptized. Humabon was given the name Carlos in honor of King Charles V of Spain and his wife Queen Juana after King Charle's mother. This conversion wiped out Islamic domination in the Philippine Islands.
Rajah Humabon Chola, ordered nearby chiefs, to convert to Christianity. Most chiefs obeyed but Lapulapu, one of the two muslim chiefs on the island of Mactan, was refused to accept the authority of Rajah Humabon in these matter of religious convertion.

I really thank you for addressing this issue about a venerated hero. With the past burial of Marcos, and the controversy, it seems vital to discuss "what is a hero." Lapu-lapu has been a "symbol," or rather, an empty signifier of both being a Filipino, and a hero, when he clearly lacks the consciousness and intention of being both. May you continue making these videos.

Ahm actually The Visayas was not Muslim only Luzon and most of Mindanao and Lapu Lapu ain't muslim also. Mactan natives were known to consume Pork and Alcoholic drinks for Centuries before and during Lapu Lapu's time. So Nope he wasn't Muslim. Also the historical archives of Cebu suggested that Lapu Lapu was also one of Rajah Humabon's General in their resistance to muslim Invaders from the south. Lapu Lapu Is a nephew of Rajah Humabon therefore making him a Prince.

Magellan was not a conqueror. He was an explorer. There was not really a battle but Antonio Pigafetta's record seems to be an ambush against Magellan. Magellan's intent was to communicate with Lapu-Lapu to unite the two but it turned out to be a tragedy. There was miscommunication and treachery. When Lapu-Lapu entered into piracy, Humabon disagree of his motive. The intention of Humabon was to create an oasis of trade in Cebu like Molucca but Lapu-Lapu and his piracy seemed to be a hindrance to his plan. Early Filipino nationalism diverted the fact of our history and exaggerated the story.

The thug Vasco de Gama, known as Magellan, on his way to India in 1502 AD, stopped a ship for pilgrims carrying 700 Muslims on their way to Mecca in the Gulf of Oman. He burned them on board and demolished nearly 300 mosques in one of his Crusades against Muslim East Africa. When his fleet arrived in Mozambique, he said: Now We surrounded the Muslims, and all that was left was to pull the thread De Gama reached the Indian city of Calcutta and destroyed it with his cannons, and a parade was held for the prisoners of war after their hands, noses and ears were cut off and their teeth were broken, and they were tied inside a ship and then burned. Magellan is not an explorer, but a hateful crusader thug criminal who was killed by a person named Lapulapu, a Filipino Muslim hero after he heard what he did against Muslims and was not killed by barbaric tribes as they claim.

The Question is why do Muslims claim someone Legendary and Valiant as their own? The vid also described that Lapu Lapu was also a relative of Rajah Humabon a Pagan. He was actually a nephew of Rajah Humabon whobis clearly not a muslim.

first if they consume pork or alcohol it's because they were poor and don't have much on the menu if you go to some muslim countries you will see that a large percentage drink alcohol and some poor population eats pork because islam says you should save yourself in times of need not die and if Rajah Humabon was a pagan then that's his religion you should not assume his relatives were all pagans that's so Desperate of you , the uncle of our messenger Mohammed peace be upon him died as a pagan that doesn't mean the messenger was a pagan

Mahfoud Yassine No dont be desperate in claiming our heronas one of your own. There was no evidence to prove that he was a muslim. Cebuanos fiercely resisted islamization for centuries. The reason he was posted in mactan was simple. To guard the kingdom of Cebu from muslim marauders and invaders from the Sultanate of sulu and brunei. Mactan is positioned right strategically beside Cebu city itself. The kingdom of Cebu and its neighbors have been plagued my islamic raids and invasions for centuries. Lapu Lapu was known as a tough warrior chief making him the best choice for sentinel duty. Before family, political feud ensued. He did not join muslim raiders, he fought them.😎 Are you even a Cebuano like me? If not then shut up about our history. Stop believing on those fabricated history of claiming our ancestor as one of your own.

Philippines, like the rest of South East Asia, was majority Muslim by the mid 15th century.
It's just that Philippines was completely conquered, and forced into Christianity, and named "Philippines" after their invaders' king, unlike Indonesia and Malaysia, which didn't completely lose, rather turned into protectorates under the colonials, with the presence of their ruling dynasties preserving their identity, therefore they were not culturally invaded by colonial powers, Philippines is one of a very few nations that were culturally invaded and shifted in the modern era.
Muslims in South East Asia in their early years of Islam, were still practicing many things of their former religions, like the rest of Islamic nations in their early years in Islam, including Arabs btw, so having Hindu elements wasn't such a weird thing, especially that they converted to Islam through invitation by just Arab merchants, not even through diplomats like how Turkic people converted, same for Bangladesh.
This specific character known as Lapu Lapu, is known to had been a Muslim man, despite whatever he practiced from his people's former religion if he did, the dynasties that ruled Philippines when the invasion happened were Muslims too.

You are misinformation by saying the myth. Lapulapu was not muslim. He was pure bisaya, a pintado warrior who feasted pig sinugba (later popularized as cebu lechon). He wore a thong - half naked without beard. All lapu-lapu actions were haram in islam like tatto inside the body, haram of half-naked, haram of eating pig, etc.
Lapu-Lapu was an animistic pintado warrior, meaning the likes of him have faith systems based on the belief that certain spirits like diwatas (goddesses) and engkantos (fairies) are said to inhabit certain places and things. Being pintado also meant his tattoo artist had a field day adorning Lapi’s entire body with inkwork. Muslims frown upon body tattoos

Lapu-Lapu (Baybayin: ᜎᜉᜓᜎᜉᜓ, Abecedario: Lápú-Lápú) (fl. 1521) was a ruler of Mactan in the Visayas. Modern Philippine society regards him as the first Filipino hero because he was the first native to resist Imperial Spanish colonization. He is best known for the Battle of Mactan that happened at dawn on April 27, 1521, where he and his soldiers defeated Portuguese explorer Ferdinand Magellan, who was killed in the battle.[1]Magellan's death ended his voyage of circumnavigation, and this delayed the Spanish occupation of the islands by over forty years until the expedition of Miguel López de Legazpi in 1564. Monuments to Lapu-Lapu have been built in Cebu and Manila, while the Philippine National Policeand the Bureau of Fire Protection use his image as part of their official seals

Fernando Magallanes (AKA Anglicised Ferdinand Magellan) was a Portuguese explorer for Spain; he was not a conquistador. The reason he got killed was because Magallanes made an alliance with Rajah Humabon (hence why Humabon and Hara Humamay converted to Catholicism). Because of Magallanes's alliance with Humabon, Magallanes was killed by Lapu-Lapu, and by the way: Lapu-Lapu was below Rajah Humabon, a subject of the Rajah (which is an Indian word for ruler or king).

He is the son of Sri Bantug and the grandson of Sri Lumay, who came from Sumatra (now part of Indonesia). Thus, we can say that the Cebuanos are directly related with the Sumatrans in western Indonesia then mix with Spanish blood that is why today they have mistiso and mistisa also Lapu lapu is a chieftain of Cebu a member of Islamic religion fought hard to Magellan but why you keep the story away that they are not Muslims, you're misleading the viewers go straight to point Philippines before is a Islamic country then where purge by Spaniards destroy the original culture and history then turn it on there side of the story. if you base your history with Spanish books its one sided they always pretend to be hero and savior of Filipino people then if you read the side of the american history books they also pretend to be the savior of filipino so who's who is the real hero?

Lapu Lapu - real name is tanday lupalupa - only Spaniards change his name because of the accent, and he is not a Muslim, he drink alcohol, lot of tattoos in his body , and eat pork,,which is not allowed in the Islam Belief. Sri Hamabar (also known as Rajah Humabon) was the son of Sri Bantug, and the grandson of Sri Lumay…..Rajah Humabon was the first Filipino Chieftain to embrace Christianity.( Sri from Hindu words)....Rajah Humabon, later baptized as Don Carlos, was the Rajah of Cebu at the time of Portuguese explorer Ferdinand Magellan's arrival in the Philippines in 1521. Lapu-lapu was one of the two datus of Mactan before the Spanish arrived in the archipelago. On April 27, 2017, President Rodrigo Duterte declared April 27 Lapu-Lapu Day for honoring as the first hero in the country.

500h to 2 million years ago, Dayak tribes and even the negritoes people is from new guinea ( papua new guinea today) came in droves on foot and others rode on their domesticated animals principally elephant camels and other domesticated animals and settled at the different places of the Ylayan Archipelago, migrated to Ylaya (Philippines today) via Brunei passing thru the land bridges to Palawan where many of them remain therein and still many others continue their way to Koron ( Coron today) and Busuanga , to Panay Island , to Mindoro Island, when the negritoes arrived in Brunei the dayaks people refused to allow them until they reached palawan , here again the descendants of the Dayaks did not want the black people to mingle with them, then they continue their Journey to Zambales to Nueva Viscaya and on the eastern side and central parts of luzon .

Because in the history of Muslim in the 13th century or year 1310 ARAB ISLAMIC MISSIONARY was arrived and they called the Philippines is Maharlika Islands . meanwhile, In the year 1494, this was the era of King Luisong Tagean, A Muslim King and the descendant of King Marikudo. King Luisong who married the Queen Lamayan Agatep Bowan had two sons. The eldest was Datu Lapu-Lapu ( Ruled Mactan Islands in the visayas ) and second was Rajah Sulayman ( Ruled Manila in Luzon ).

Mer Sportrock Are you a muslim? Seem like you are making your own history to appear Muslim rules. First of all maharlika was derived from sanskrit word maha means great cognates with malay which mean great warrior. Rajah and Datu were also sanskirt origin indicating that early kingdoms in the Philippines existed from Madjapahit empire and later stage SriVidjaya empire. Both empires in different times were buddist/hindu influenced empire. The only muslim part were remote areas in sulu ruled by sultans. Lapulapu and other early island leaders were descendants

The supreme god of the religion of the Visayans, when explicitly recorded by contemporary historians, was identified as "Abba" by Pigafetta and "Kan-Laon" (also spelled "Laon") by the Jesuit historian Pedro Chirino in 1604, comparable to the Tagalog "Bathala". There is no mention of Islam.[32] This is in contrast to the other locations visited by the Magellan expedition where Pigafetta readily identifies the Muslims whom they encountered; he would call them Moros after the Muslim Moors of medieval Spain and northern Africa, to distinguish them from the polytheistic "heathens".[12][24][33] In fact, during the mass baptism of the Cebuanos to Christianity, he clearly identifies them as "heathens," not Moros:[12][25]

It means that lapu lapu was not a MUSLIM so as the RAJAH's in CEBU. The reason why Mindanao bcame MUSLIM its bcoz of their traders. But even with the traders LAPU LAPU and RAJAH in CEBU remains on worshipping ABBA. Abba means father, father YHWH. Even the LUMAD worships the SUPREME GOD. Not ALLAH!! Lumad are the ancient people living here. This MUSLIM traders took their land and invaded it kya mga lumad ngyon ang pinapalayas sa sarili nilang LUPA!! But LAPU LAPU never surrenders his faith for he knows ABBA YHWH is the TRUE GOD!!

Muhammad never believes that YAHSUAH was the SON OF GOD! To think we are all his Son and Daughter, we are all his creation. He believes that YAHSUAH is just a MESSIAH! It just so happened that YAHSUAH was more holy than MUHAMMAD in many aspect. Muhammad had sex to all his slave, even to children. Muhammad kills all non-believers, took Jews lands, in short he is a sinner. He teaches JIHAD while YAHSUAH teaches LOVE. YAHSUAH's coming was prophesied by many prophet and Angel spoke to Marry to named him YAHSUAH. To all MUSLIM please read the BIBLE not QUR'AN.

It does not matter to me whether Lapulapu was old or tall, dark and handsome, or he fought singlehandedly the 60 Spaniards or he was tomboy or bakla, or that he did not actually hold even a swiss knife, that he directed the battle in his air conditioned bunker away from the beach, what matters to me is he led the battle and won it, period. I am fr, Opon.

I've read that Lapu-Lapu was actually a Bruneian royal before he came to the Philippines. And his sword - the Kampilan, only the royalty from Brunei possessed that kind of sword, no other tribe or people from Borneo had that sword. Can someone confirm this.

Maybe NOT, the Borneian dialect I think is not the same to the native Cebuano dialect. He cannot be a leader without a tongue. Further more trace/history of Bornean speaking people in Mactan long before. In short Lapu-lapu is a NATIVE CEBUANO.

well, they are all just folklore. We will never know the truth. But we don't need to learn every detail, the reason we celebrate him as a hero, because of his resistance to imperial Spanish
colonization and he succeeded. After that, Rajah Sulayman, Rajah Matanda and Lakandula, was conquered by Miguel Lopez de Legazpi through diplomacy. It was "Bambalito/Tarik Sulayman/Unknown Hero of Bangkusay" who followed Lapulapu's steps to fight the foreign invasion, though he failed. That started Spain's 333 years of colonization of our country.

Islam is the oldest recorded monotheisticreligion in the Philippines. Islam reached the Philippines in the 13th century with the arrival of Muslim traders from the Persian Gulf, Southern India, and their followers from several sultanate governments in the Malay Archipelago. The Muslim population of the Philippines has been reported as about 6% of the total population as of a census in 2000.[1]According to a 2015 report of Philippine Statistics Authority, 6% of Filipinos are Muslims.[2] While the majority of the population are Roman Catholic, some ethnic groups are Protestant, Hindu, Buddhist, Animist, Sikh, or non-religious.
According to national religious surveys, there are about 5.1 million Muslims in the Philippines, composing 6% of its population. However, a 2012 estimate by the National Commission on Muslim Filipinos (NCMF) and the U.S. Department of State, stated that there were 10.7 million Muslims, or approximately 11 percent of the total population.[3][4] Most Muslims live in parts of Mindanao, Palawan, and the Sulu Archipelago - an area known as Bangsamoro or the Moro region.[5] Some have migrated into urban and rural areas in different parts of the country. Most Muslim Filipinos practice Sunni Islam according to the Shafi'i school.[6] There are some AhmadiyyaMuslims in the country.[7]
Islam arrived in the southern islands of Philippines, from the historic interaction of Mindanao and Sulu regions with other Indonesian islands, Malay islands and Borneo. The first Muslims to arrive were traders followed by missionaries in the late 14th and early 15th centuries.[8] They facilitated the formation of Sultanates and conquests in Mindanao and Sulu.[9] The people who converted to Islam came to be known as the Moros. The Muslim conquest reached as far as the Kingdom of Tondo which was supplanted by Brunei's vassal-state the Kingdom of Maynila.[10] Muslim Sultanates had begun expanding in central Philippines in the 16th century, when the Spanish fleet led by Ferdinand Magellan arrived of Philippines.[11] The Spanish conquest during the 16th century led to Catholic Christianity becoming the dominant religion in most of Philippines, and Islam a minority religion
