A FEW THINGS: 1. I stayed WAY longer at chargers than I should have because.. well.. obvious reasons. 2. I had to use the 150kw instead of 350kw because they were occupied which obviously took longer. 3. I had to stop and pee..A LOT 4. I actually didn't mind the added time for charging, because most stops had food/shopping/other things to do. I did my best shopping while charging at all the Walmarts lol. 5. I learned a LOT, and I did the entire drive in one day on the way back which I did vlog as well.. and I cut off HOURS of time that I wasted from the first trip. :)
I find it hard to believe that doing this on an economic diesel powered (since diesel is usually cheaper than gas ) vehicle would cost you more than the shown 141$
@@kirdot2011 Video shows what an average person would do that knows nothing about EVs would do. I could do that trip in any EV or gas cheaper, but cost wasn’t the point. EVs shine in town when you charge at home. L2 chargers at hotels are intended to be used overnight. Shouldn’t charge for so long at each stop
I love how there's a lot of space in the Rivian. It looks like if you sit in the backseat, a 10 hour drive will feel like 2 hours while you're all cozied up.
The Rivian R1S really is an impressive car! It combines attractive design with exceptional performance, cutting-edge technology and everyday practicality.
Jenna … love these kinds of videos. One thing I'd recommend is getting a ceramic clear tint for your front windshield. I got one on my car and it cuts down that hot sun heat by 65%! Makes it so much more comfortable when traveling and having the sun on your hands and lap! Cheers! PS - EA chargers are the worst .. they just don't have their act together. The experience should change significantly once Telsa opens up their networks for all cars (but that seems to be taking forever)!
Still in love with the way you spec'd your Rivian. Color, interior, wheels...chef's kiss. Glad you were inspired to take a little adventure in it and see some of the beautiful sights America has to offer!
If you haven't already you need to install a ceramic window tint that will block the infrared heat from passing through your windows. Xpel Prime XR Plus for example will block up to 98% of IR heat from passing through the glass which makes a massive difference in your comfort while in the vehicle and in an EV allow you to save range by not having to run your AC as hard. I tinted every window on my Tesla and it's amazing.
Thanks for sharing your experience Jenna! Picking up my RS1 today *happy dance* Sorry to hear you had to deal with a creep at the charging station, but eye opening to hear this can happen to others. Stay safe!
Get your windshield tinted with a very light 70% nano ceramic tint. It will make your vehicle cooler and block the UV rays and heat off of you and your interior. 70% tint is light, almost clear. You can’t really tell it’s on the window, but makes a world of difference with the heat rejection and also cuts some glare.
Great video, love these slice-of-life EV experiences. Please continue your Rivian adventures and the scenery and stops along the way. Maybe for us non-Americans a map with points so we know where you are along the way. Still great video, thank you!! 😊
If you add $25 for the Barstow charge, Electricity $172.2 for 750 miles (Add $125 for hotel = $297) . A full size SUV gets about 18 MPG so 750 miles will need 42 gallons of gas. At $3.75 a gallon that's $157. You had to pay for a hotel just to do 750miles and spent about 6-8 hours at charging and eat every time. A gas car will do 750 miles in a day: It saves you time and is MUCH CHEAPER .
Great job on the video Jenna! Thanks for making it. "I don't want to be here anymore. I'm melting." I've thought that same sentence every august since moving to Vegas.
Thanks for sharing your EV road-trip experience. Electrify America chargers need a definite upgrade, half the time they don’t work. Getting a non-Tesla perspective is what I needed.
One tip on glass cleaning inside and out: use a mix of water and dish soap in a spray bottle, a mini squeegee, and a microfiber towel. Clean swipe and no ammonia.
I have a Prius and my range is 600 miles on hybrid mode...Range anxiety is real with electric cars....lol that's why I went with Hybrid. All the bells and whistles I have on my Prius
That was the exact configuration I was considering along with the Forest green. I ultimately settled on confirming with the forest green and the 21” road wheels and max pack option. Cool video, just stumbled on your channel
I absolutely love my Rivian R1S.. definitely the best vehicle I've ever owned. There is just so much space inside! Seeing your video, we definitely have put Zion National Park to our bucket list! And I think we will drive there too! Now if you can let us know where that last hike to Donut Falls is, that would be wonderful. Because that location looks like something you see in a post card!
your comment about charging stop timing working well with bathroom breaks really made me laugh....my wife and I have been saying the exact same thing ever since we bought our Tesla last year. Noticed no one really says that on these road trip videos. It is so true.
Looks like you missed the ice cream stop in Beaver. It makes the charging stop much more pleasant! The Creamery is in the middle of town & has great ice cream & cheese. We got ice cream & ate it during our charging session there. Charging goes quickly & we really enjoyed the Ice cream.
Hmm, My 15' Altima gets about 450-500 miles to the tank, about 60 to get full. So 120ish and fueling is easier. Compare to Rivian, its not bad. For the time/cost, I was expecting time be higher and cost be lower, so not bad results
$120 for 950 miles in your Altima. YOu are saving more than her. Electricity is not cheap and anxiety to find the next station and have an open terminal, if not, wait 1 hour per car.
Based on this and other EV road trip videos the gas savings seems to be spent on hotels (and one’s time). It’s ok if the road trip intentionally includes sightseeing but I still submit that hybrid is the future, ideally where the fuel engine is a generator to the battery system (vs part of the powertrain).
You don't gain nearly as much with most hybrids on the highway. They're better for city driving when it comes to fuel economy. I wish plug in hybrids took off more, but most consumers were generally confused by them. 40-60 miles on electric is great for most people...then for longer trips it's a normal hybrid.
Need to get ceramic tint all around. I have an R1T with it on the roof, windshield, and all sides + rear. Even in 108 degree heat in TX it's a cool, calm oasis inside. Also, you can turn off the lane departure chime in settings!
I completely agree with the ceramic tint. We did Solar Gard ZenithIR on all windows including the roof and front windshield in our R1S. ZenithIR 45 on driver and passenger windows and ZenithIR 80 on all other glass. It makes a huge difference.
I loved this. Also, stranger danger. Hope you carry mace or something. Id have to call my sisters every hour if they did a trip like that solo. Strange world we live in. I am both envious and realizing i could literally never do that trip. Part of me wishes i was more adventurous, but a bigger part of me knows i am basically in a full coma after a 2 hours trip to flaggstaff 😂 Hope to get a part 2 of the road trip back home! Stay safe out there!
I took my Rivian on my first long trip and I can say I won’t be doing that again. Getting to my destination was a breeze as there was a Rivian charging station at the half way point. I spent 3 days there and it was a nightmare to find charging that worked properly. Heading back wasn’t fun either. So until we get more RAN stations out there I don’t think I will be taking it on trips any time soon.
It would cost me $200 to fuel my Yukon from SLC to San Diego (750 miles). But the trip would take only 11.5 hrs (less the way I drive). And no overnight hotel stay needed. Hope you get more fast charging locations soon - especially in Vegas.
love videos like this, always a pleasure watching Jennas videos. top tier views. need to get myself a Rivian, will have to sell a kidney and a lung, lets get it
As much as I love fore spitting v12 and loud v8 engines. I can definitely see electric cars being a city car mainly but we definitely need tons more charging stations and making them cheaper because honestly those electric car batteries are no joke $$ wise. Hopefully the next step is making long distance electric vehicles and even air travel.
The "Oh you're done" would of infuriated me! MThe only range anxiety I have in regards to electric vehicles is dealing with other people at charging stations. I don't have the patience lol
Not sure whether you have a full sunroof or not but maybe there would be a way to have a tech friend or you rig up a solar panel on your roof so at least you wouldn’t, hypothetically, get totally stranded somewhere.
Where did you take your trip too. JENN have you ever visited north dakota. Not much here but have Medora has Teddy Roosevelt National Park but winter coming. ❤ videos rock
"Hard to do with one hand" .... that's what she said🤣 come on, you set that one up right over the plate. 🦌 hahaha hey it's you again😍 Jenna in the wild, cool cool👍🤠
My first question is the charging time. Do you think it's a little long? My second question is how reliable is the charging? Do you have to switch to a different charger because they sometimes don't work? Is there a 120v household plug in the back of the Rivian incase you wanted to plug an appliance in?
Love her videos, but not a source for EV info. Look up Out of Spec videos for EV info. She did charging all wrong, but it shows a worst case situation. EV charging isn’t perfect, there are apps and a few techniques that you have to learn to have a great experience. Like EA has to be initiated on the app when you plug in and not on the payment screen or you will have her re-plug problem.
i loved the video ❤❤ for the chargers try pairing the rivian app with third party apps that show you the current availabilty like : plugshare or chargepoint ecc
Have you ever encountered or experienced someone taking your charger and then using it on their car? If so, what did you do about it? If you run the A/C while charging doesn’t that take away from the battery percent? 115 degrees….HELL NOOO!!!
A FEW THINGS:
1. I stayed WAY longer at chargers than I should have because.. well.. obvious reasons.
2. I had to use the 150kw instead of 350kw because they were occupied which obviously took longer.

Point 3 haha - noticed.
Woop woop! Excited for the next road trip vlog!! Loved this video
Please be careful in Vegas 🙏🏽

Congrats on your first EV road trip! They are great fun and important learning experiences for new EV owners! Thanks for the video.
Oh, nice! A blue R1S with Ocean Coast interior. Same as mine, which I get tomorrow.

Zion is the best!

I would 100% like to see more vlogs like this
Yeah she needs to do the product placements since 2017 when UA-cam monetisation tanked.

this is a great share.. learning a lot about owning an EV through your experience. thanks!
in a sea of apple videos, this was a breath of fresh air. thank you jenna! 😊
Oh your travelvlogs are the best on youtube 😊👍 Thank you for taking us on a adventure 😊💕
Hell yeah Jenna i was just there last week! 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼with family! love it! The drive-through Zion beautiful!!
love your rivian vlogs and trips
Love seeing you on roadtrips (and vlogging) You should do more of that!👍

loved this one!
cheers from Brazil! 🤙🏻
Rivi road-trip!!!! Zion looks beautiful!
This is raw original Jenna.. loved the vlog ..
I like these types of videos with the charging of the car.. great roadtrip material

Looks fun Jenna! Wish I could go!!
You should invest a Tesla charging adapter for your RS Tesla starting is opening all thirties charger for other Evies as well just letting you know.
I live in CT. I think everyone on my block has a Rivan. like Rivans are so common people don't ask about them in CT...
Love this Rivian journeys 🙌
Great video Jenna! Always appreciate and enjoy your travel vlogs :D More Rivian content the better!
your comment about charging stop timing working well with bathroom breaks really made me laugh....my wife and I have been saying the exact same thing ever since we bought our Tesla last year. Noticed no one really says that on these road trip videos. It is so true.

Welcome to Utah! Hope you liked your stay.
I’ve watched your videos before, but I just now realized you are a Shailene Woodley
Doppelgänger! Great video (from someone who is kind of EV nervous)
you just give me such happy vibes !
Hotels chargers are meant for overnight charging - not "quick mid-day" charging.
I love road trip videos!!! I would love to see more as you do them!
loved this vlog jenna!
Awesome to meet you at #BILD2023 ... now time to watch this 750+ road trip 🚙

Oh that donut falls place looked stunning
You made the right choice with that blue! Looks amazing. Keep up the awesome vlogs. Take care Jenna!😁😁
Did you go to the Apple event??
I went to Zion when I was in high school. I really wish I could go there again 😢
Nice video, like the way you are.
Zion is the most amazing park from my point of view.
Hey Jenna more Rivian videos please even if it's a trip to the corner store or something lol 😂 Stay safe x
I loved this. Also, stranger danger. Hope you carry mace or something. Id have to call my sisters every hour if they did a trip like that solo. Strange world we live in. I hope that you had fun on your road trip
Ahhh! A whole video on Rivi! Did it feel pretty stable in the rain/storm? Also, I think donuts would certainly motivate more people to go hiking 🤣
Yeah super stable!!!
Jenna cracks me up. "sketchy characters". LOL
sweet. this is pretty cool thanks for sharing
Such beautiful scenery there😍

Great vid and great car! Unrelated, but which watch band is that?
So, since Justine is going to be with you on the trip back, is there going to be another travel Vlog? Also, I love the Jenna adventures. Keep them up.
I love Rivian, If I have chance I will buy that. I had watch Justine, and now I realized Justine & U is friends :)) interesting, love this trip
Awesome road trip Jenna!
The "Oh you're done" would of infuriated me! MThe only range anxiety I have in regards to electric vehicles is dealing with other people at charging stations. I don't have the patience lol
There is a Rivian charger just off 15 by the strip, although it may not have been open when you filmed this.
Lovely adventure
enjoyed the vlog
Welcome to Salt Lake; stay a while.
I hadn't seen this car yet, I liked it
What a fun trip!
your Rivian R1S looks amazing
You should visit Gatlinburg, Tennessee. Long way from California, but it’s beautiful!
Fun to watch and it looks like you need tinted windows so badly!
Third-party charging absolutely sucks. you are brave
NICE!
HELLO, JENNA!
I'M GOING TO SEE YOU NOW!
Not sure whether you have a full sunroof or not but maybe there would be a way to have a tech friend or you rig up a solar panel on your roof so at least you wouldn’t, hypothetically, get totally stranded somewhere.

High noise and not even lane change for 100k $ . I took model X. Very happy

A few weeks ago Jenna Ezarik becomes love.
