Wish I would have seen you guys out on the road. Great Vid! I received my R1S, a good friend of mine received hers late last year and I think Ben and JLO have one so it's VERY rare to see them on the streets of LA. I feel like I'm driving a unicorn but have to admit the vehicle is freaking AWESOME!!
The best part of the video is Sara’s collab with fellow YTbers Jenna snd Justine! Cool to do a crossover every now and then and LA was the place to do it! 😊

We're really enjoying your car content, and the numbers might not fully capture it, but you should definitely continue creating it if you love doing so because we're certainly loving it too! Maybe not as often as professional car reviewers, but having it occasionally would be awesome and add some excitement!
It's worth mentioning that Tesla is starting to open up their proprietary charging network to non-Tesla EVs. The more of those go online, the less of an issue charging infrastructure will be for non-Tesla owners. Also, most people who own and daily drive an EV like this will charge at home. The only time you'll ever really need to use a public charging network is on a longer road trip, which studies have shown most people don't really do very often. So, I don't want to say the charging infrastructure thing isn't an issue, but it's a lot less of an issue that most people think. The build quality in the Rivian beats Tesla hands down.
Also, it would've been good to hear from someone your height about how easy, or not, it was getting into and out of the Rivian given it has no step sides for aid in entry/exit.

I live in the Kansas city area and I saw an R1S couple weeks ago. Ive seen 3 of the R1Ts running around. Im more fascinated with the Rivian than I am the Tesla truck

I first saw these Rivians in "The Long Way Up" (motorcycle doco with Ewan Mcgregor). They were using prototype Rivians to get through rugged landscapes through south america including below freezing weather. They had a few struggles but they made it in the end AS PROTOTYPES!

12:37 you said that one of the pet peeves is at the car unlocks when you put in Park. FYI, it’s a setting in the software that you can change to whatever you want. All door unlocked is just the default option.
15:49 - Hey, my 2010 Dodge minivan has a flashlight too! It has contacts in the holder in the trunk so it can charge too!

The gap in charging between Tesla and non-Teslas is even smalller in the East Coast. EVgo has certainly taken the market by storm but Electrify America is super strong up and down I-95

One concern that doesn't get enough attention is about people living in social housing that have EVs. Since, at least here in Canada, the government has legislated that EV's will be the only vehicle allowed for sale by 2035; it brings up the question of what about those people who earn between $CDN15,000 and $CDN40,000 a year? Larger social housing complexes (Typically 400 units or so) have about 100 parking spaces allocated on the grounds. Right now, in my Neighborhood there is one charging location with two spaces available. There are 20 social housing units within a kilometer of this location. That's about 1500 - 2000 cars that could potentially need charging. The municipal government does not plan to put chargers on the premises of any of these buildings, is setting the average cost for them to install a single charge point is about $20,000. Primarily due to the engineering costs of having the electric service to the building re-engineered to accommodate dozens to hundreds of chargers in such a concentrated area and having no way for those costs to ne recovered by low-income residents of the buildings. This also does not account for the re-engineering of the grid to accomodate dozens to hundreds of chargers in the neighborhood as well. They figured the break-even for a half hour of charge would be about $1000 for a full cost recovery assuming the costs are amortized over five years and assuming that only the tenants of the building where the charge point is located would be using it.

Another issue that may help a bit is GM's decision to adopt the tesla charger design for the connector plug. That may make it a bit of a wild west. We are already starting to see people unplugging vehicles that are left unattended and connect to their own vehicles to just maliciously unplug them as an act of mischief. We may eventually get to the point of having to place the vehicle in a secured bay or have security present to ensure the vehicles safety while charging.

Can you imagine how quick the battery depletes when towing a caravan or trailer full? EV is not the way forward yet, until batteries last longer/smaller and the infrastructure is in place to accommodate! (UK)

I find the practicality of the Rivian is far more catered to everyone over the Tesla. Granted the quality control of Teslas are not good from personal experiences. There is a reason why the Teslas resell ability has been trending downwards significantly.

Nice review other than Rivian has a issued a recall of over 12,000 this month on both their vehicles. Apparently the passenger side seat belt issue sensor, and something to do with passenger airbag sensor. So I guess do not be a passenger in a Rivian right now.

Awesome great video, nice explanation you can also use Tesla Chargers to charge those cars too it’s an option in the Tesla App to charge non Tesla cars with they charger and use fast charging. But awesome detail video it is alright but I’m still not on board with electric cars just yet maybe in 2035 when the times comes but now nope Gas ⛽️ all the way. Plus that idea of sitting and charging sucks and uses too much time in my opinion. But great video God Bless
