I make this soup with almost the exact same recipe but I add some celery as i think it adds to the flavor. I use Carrots, Onion and celery as my base for many dishes. Its how I was taught so many years ago when everyone did their own cooking I am now 85 and still at it lol Love these video's and can always hardly wait for your next one. Bravo...
I like how clear you are about the details, and even adding bits of wisdom for those of us who might not know that for example, cooking on high after the 1/2 and 1/2 is in the mix might break and curdle. Thank you.
I’ve been enjoying putting grated carrots in… basically everything. It’s so much easier than chopping, and results in nice flecks of color throughout my soups
So, I added some dried creamer to the reconstituted milk, lucked out by finding some turkey bullion in the fridge, and then I had to add double the flour and butter (kinda near the end for both, thank the gods for Wondra) to bring it all together, but, hey. It's damn tasty. Topped with some green onion, and more cheese
@@caydee.m Might come out a little gritty... depends on how good you are, idk... (mine was a tiny grainy and I'm good. So, that's probably on the crap materials I used) but it tasted great
I really admire you for your dedication to make a tasty homecooked meal with what you had. it's honestly a rare skill at this point. most people see that they're missing one big ingredient and they order takeout instead. but you end up discovering a lot more about cooking when you work with what you have
The prep is serious! Definitely do it all in advance so you can toss everything in as you go because it really does come together quickly! Delicious soup!
Made this tonight and it was awesome. I used white cheddar and Havarti cheese, and the only procedure change was I added the broccoli before I added the cream, because I was using frozen and wanted to make sure it was brought up to temp before adding the half and half.
My daughter loves cheese, broccoli soup however I don’t, but this recipe is so easy that I am going to make it for her most of the recipes just don’t seem quite as easy or tasty looking. Thank you.

Just finished making the broccoli cheese soup as expected it was fantastic. You were totally right about half and half as supposed to heavy cream. I put in half pepper jack cheese and half White cheddar. Also I couldn't resist I added a couple shakes of Crystal. I totally enjoy watching your videos, keep it up

Hey John - I love you - Nice soup. In Europe we usually put potatoe starch in our pre shredded cheeses, but from October this year it´s also wood pulp or celouse fibres in our 100% grated Parmesan. I am guessing it means it´s 100% grated, not 100% cheese...

If you peel or cut out the outer layer of the stem, the inside is indeed very tender and sweet.
