WHAT ABOUT DEMI LOVATO!!!
Never knew eminem took drugs
Fun fact: Eminem’s sponsor in AA is none other than Sir Elton John.
How about: 10 musicians who over came their drug addiction
That's a good one.
Not as clickbaity.
I mean, there's been LOTS of celebrities w drug problems. Plenty it isn't a surprise they cleaned up though bc it never got that serious. Then you have people like Ozzy Osbourne and Nikki sixx, or RDJ looking at actors, where it's a genuine wonder how they made it through that part of their life
That’s pretty much every musician
That a Great idea 👍💗
Keith Richards literally took every drug in the book. It’s a miracle that he’s alive and well into his 80s.
He's 79.
He is an immortal witch. Not many ppl know, but he is Baba Yaga (or Babushka Yagushka to friends)...
@@ChekhovBla😂
Nothing on this planet can kill Ozzy Osbourne.
Lets hope he doesnt get abducted by aliens then
That's what they said about Lemmy.
Someone in my bible study told me that Ozzy has a genetic condition that makes him able to survive all that abuse.
i believe he got it right when he bit that bat on stage, which was probably Dracula, and he is now a vampire and immortal
Dave Gahan from Depeche Mode was dead for two minutes because of a speedball and survived several suicide attempts.
It still amazes me that Keith is still around, like I’m still convinced that he’s immortal now
Keith Richards is an Immortal being
He’s a Vampire 🧛♂️!
And immoral.
Just as I said! 🤙
How in the world is Joe Walsh not on here? He did a tour with Ozzy and neither of them remember it.
Why does this feel strange and somewhat wrong😂
Right?!
Bc it is wrong
I think it's because for the most part, we are all taught that living a drug-fueled lifestyle is a sure fire way to shorten your expected life span. (Side Note: this is a correct assumption the vast majority of the time.) To see these people make it to old age (and beyond) just seems like they've somehow made a deal with the grim reaper to stick around longer than they honestly should have.
It makes you question yourself about whether living a moral and healthy life all this time was all it was cracked up to be in comparison to these (seemingly) nigh immortal people. We've all known someone who we felt lived 10 or 20 years longer than they should have, but it was something like their unbridled meanness, stubbornness, or bad habits that kept them around longer than they were wanted.
@@latonyajefferson9699 i respect that response. I think the wording of the title comes across wrong.
I laughed when I saw the title... sadly
Being middle-aged now and having abused drugs and alcohol and cigarettes for two decades which is half my life I can really agree with what Slash said I didn't want to stop but it was either stop or die I'll have two years clean and sober next month 👍
Good for you!
🎉🎉🎉🎉
You probably could do just one on Keith Richard’s
Wow, this list is really messed up.
Mental health is EVERYTHING. Always remember that. Be grateful for every day and never forget the importance of sobriety. It HAS to be said, these are 10 very lucky people.
Today is my 37th year of being sober!
@@lynnenewell2016 That's almost as long as I been alive, congrats
How Frusciante survived is mindblowing. I mean, obviously most of this list is surprising, but Frusciante allowing himself to not care about public image is almost shocking. What a story he has and what deity he has on his side must be wildly powerful. He looked like death. What a recovery.
Thanks God ❤
Mick Fleetwood had the biggest band in the world in the ‘70s and made millions and millions of dollars but by the early ‘80s, he was living on a couch in his parents’ basement and didn’t even own a drum set. He said it all went up his nose.
Needs a volume two! Include: Iggy Pop, Marilyn Manson, Marianne Faithfull...
Demi Lovato
Steven Adler.
Dave Gahan was declared dead for some minutes
Crazy title WatchMojo …
Thank goodness for everyone on this list, realized and opened their eyes, I am so happy that everyone didn't die and survived. I'm proud of everyone on this list. God bless you all 🙏❤️🤗
You forgot to mention Brian Wilson.
Slash isn’t even the member of GNR who is most surprisingly still alive.
In the mid-1990s, bassist Duff McKagen was drinking so much that his pancreas exploded, leaving him with severe internal burns that would have killed him had he not gotten to the ER. He would have died within a month had he not given up the booze.
Yeah but Steven Addler was the worst out of GNR
You needed to put on list Lemmy because even Ozzy Osborne admited he took more drugs than him and he was ok. Even the story when they'd been performing on rock festival AND nobody slept , took drung , on the 4th day Ozzy was walking like a dog with mouth and a tongue . But Lemmy was energetic, with undistortion speach and Osborn asked Him "How did you do this.?" on what Lemmy told "I don't know". So you NEEDED put Lemmy on the list. Also Osborn told "After atomic apocalypse will survive cockroaches and Lemmy" this speaks volumes.
I must say this is the best top 10 ever!❤😂
Strange topic....
I remember WM making this video YEARS ago, but then a couple of the people on that list ended up dying after it was published (Lemmy from Motörhead comes to mind)
The album that was based on The Heroin Diaries (and performed by Nikki Sixx's band Sixx A.M.) featured the song Van Nuys, talking about the people and the community where a lot of his substance abuse took place and the immense cost in lost lives.
Holy crap that's where I from
2:38 I had no idea he did drugs.
I'm very glad that these musicians survived drugs and alcohol addiction
did they like take DNA sample from Ozzie to figure out how he's still alive from all the stuff he's taken?
Yes and it's spelled Ozzy.
With Ozzy I'm reminded of one of his lines from the 2023 Superbowl commercial for Workday: "I've done my share of bad things, also your share of bad things!"
Jeez Watchmojo...chillout
i mean damn Mojo you so cold with this title lol
the fact that most of these people were in grunge and rock says something.
I had no idea all these musicians did drugs, especially Elton John! It's a good thing they didn't die from them. I didn't know that was Elton singing "Can You Feel The Love Tonight" in the movie. And one of their father's ashes? Oh dear! I'm so sorry for the father! Also, I've seen Steven Tyler on "Two and a Half Men"! I like Stevie Nicks's bangs!
Dave Gahan from Depeche Mode was also clinically dead, got clean and is back to making music and still performing!
Belinda Carlisle, Boy George, Courtney Love
Townshend, Page .....
If you watched interviews with John Frusciante when he was doing heroin, it's amazing he came through. He seemed already gone during these interviews, and it didn't look good.
I actually read the Heroin Diaries. Shit was harrowing. He apparently stitched that whole book together based on letters and things he hand wrote throughout his experience.
WHAT ABOUT DEMI LOVATO!!!
Watchmojo already did this list 9 years ago, and almost all of the artists on that list are still alive
LOL. I knew number one before I clicked play.
Have you forgotten Dave Gahan? He was already dead because of drugs but still survived.
I think what I'm surprised about the most is that Demi Lovato wasn't mentioned on this list!
That's because Demi Lovato is barely an addict in comparison to everyone on this list.
You're sorta comparing thumbtacks to railroad spikes here......
@Aaron Screwface an addict is an addict there aren't levels to it
@@WhyteSpaceO maybe not. But she's still not as bad as the people here considering at least half of the artists on this list were bad to the point they SHOULD have died. Unless I've been out of the loop lately I'd like to think she's not at that point. Especially when You're comparing her to people like Ozzy Osbourne, Keith Richards, and Steven Tyler.
@@WhyteSpaceO as a former opioid addict I would like to inform you that you are extremely wrong about that and there are many levels to addiction!
Scream Queen 👑 And The Anderson Clan, Glad Ozzy's still around! We like 2 call them The Rockstar Version of us, We loved the PVR commercial,
No Dave Gahan on this list? Seriously?
I said this in the comment’s section for the first video of musicians who did not die from drug abuse, and I’ll say it again. Dave Mustaine and Steven Adler should have been on this list. Mustaine was fired from Metallica because of his drinking and drug abuse and was also pronounced dead after a show with Megadeth in the early ‘90’s. Steven Adler was the first original member of Guns N’ Roses to be fired because his heroin addiction rendered him unable to play drums. He also suffers a cocaine induced stroke in the mid ‘90’s. Duff McKagan deserves an honorable mention for surviving alcohol induced pancreatitis.
God sent Sharon into Ozzy Osbourne's life to save him from himself
GOD?????
I thought Brian Wilson from the beach boys would’ve made the list
@WatchMojo Just to let you know, Keith Richards was playing “Paint It Black,” not “Paint It Paint.”
Now do Wrestlers!
#1- Jake the Snake
Actually #1 is Ric Flair
Surprised Brian Wilson wasn't on this list.
Hey, Mick! Look at who I outlived today!
1:34 I love his song Psychosocial.
James Hetfield should've at least been an honorable mention.
Jerry Garcia called Aerosmith the druggiest people he’d ever seen…nuff said
RIP Captain Trips
This is a new low for you guys regarding lists. Consider deleting.
While he's nowhere near as famous as the people on this list, Hanoi Rocks guitarist Andy McCoy is one I often think of. I remember that time in the early 2000's when his fans were trying to raise money to get his teeth fixed. Heroin use had ruined them.
Where was Iggy Pop?
Scream Queen 👑 Hey! Let's give a shout out to Stevie! The White 🤍 Witch 🪄 Herself, who was on one of my favorite Seasons of AHS Coven (Sidenote, Her and Misty Day are my friends and R in my Coven movie 🎥 Stevie Knicks, didn't really find her voice till after she joined Fleetwood Mac, I'm still looking 4 mine. And I didn't find myself till I found Evan and The Andersons..... With Jessica Lange as well, and if you know Practical Magic 🪄 we like 2 stay up late having Midnight Margarita's!
No mention of Lemmy? Really?
I can't believe you did not mention Boy George. He was very well known to have a massive heroin habit.
Is it just me who thinks Seven Tyler looks like Jack Sparrow nowadays? 🤣
This title tho🔥🔥
The fact that you aren't allowed to name specific drugs isn' helping people stay sober in my opinion
Yes, there are more. Alice Cooper, David Crosby (The Byrds/CSN/CSNY), Grace Slick (Jefferson Airplane/Jefferson Starship/Starship), Paul Rodgers (Bad Company/The Firm), Pete Townsend (The Who) Joe Perry of Aerosmith. All have long term recovery. David Crosby died in 2023, clean and sober, after 37 or 38 consecutive years. Steven Tyler recently relapsed after having ten years (again) of abstinence.
Keith Richards or is it Sir Kieth Richards? This guy is immortal! This guy is one tough sob. Im surprised Ace Frehley is not on here.
Let's be honest more than 3/4s of the British 60s hard rockers pickled themselves so bad with drugs and alcohol that they will be around for years to come
All that 'pickling did no favors for Bonzo and Moonie
Each time a celebrity dies, Keith Richards gets the Quickening, think about it.
it is so crazy
Good Video🙊🤯😍💕🤩😁
Why isn't lemmy on this list?
Shane mcgowen? How the hell is he not on this list
Making money is enabler for those stars in every aspect of being a celebrity I am glad a lot of them got cleaned and stayed cleaned
Keith Richards should be all 10 of these entrants and the other nine be honorable mentions
The balls on watch mojo
Well Elton John would obviously be part of this and he became clean too and that's godly amazing
What about how come some artists aren't in prison?
i swear this is a remake of their previous list. they just removed the word "top" from the title and excluded Lemmy.
Scream Queen 👑 And The Andersons...
We loved 😍 The Reality 😂 Show so much Evan got me an Osbourne Family autograph. (The whole family signed it) Digging a lil deeper to back when I was in Highschool, Ozzy Osbourne/Lita Ford Close your Eyes was always my favorite Ozzy song. Then it became me and Evans song, We loved it So much that we got an Autographed Lita Ford Plaque, That has a pink guitar 🎸 pic, and an actual Concert ticket 🎟️ THIS goes with R Ozzy Osbourne Family autograph
From list I know Slash, Eminem, Steven Tyler, Ozzy Osbourne, Stevie Nicks, Elton John and Keith Richards.
Jay Leno said we need to make planes like Keith Richard's, he was amazing at not being killed by his many unhealthy habits...he did kick the hard drugs, but still drinks like a fish...I think, not sure now..
He still drinks but it's nothing like how it used to be,he's even stopped smoking after 60 years of it.
@@davidmellish3295
Wow! He's a real machine!! I pull weeds in the yard for a half an hour and practically have to be hospitalized! I wish I had some of that wiry, Dartmouth background! People from there (like Keith!) are just made of iron, it's amazing.
@@christineparis5607 well I'm only a 15 miles from Dartford and I'm the same as you 😂 I don't think it's the area, just the fact that Keith clearly has some amazing DNA,( or maybe he sold his soul ?) Who knows, but yes he's incredible, he should have been dead years ago,60 years of smoking,15/20 years of heroin,40+ years of cocaine, 60 + years of drinking, then there was everything else in between, acid, weed, partying, women etc etc
It will be a sad day when he finally passes,it makes me sad that in 20 years there won't be any legends left, thankfully we have UA-cam ( the closest thing to a time machine) so their memories and performances live on
@@davidmellish3295
You expressed your comment so well! I feel the same, I had to take opiates for several years after cancer surgery and got sick of it, wanted to stop, but I was on some really powerful stuff. I read Keith's book, and thought, "Well, he just written how to get off drugs, I'm going to do it the Uncle Keith way!" and I did! Just cold turkeyed off and very happy not to be subject to others about managing my own pain issues! I've always been incredibly impressed that anyone could get away from years of anything! I've really never wanted to take a bunch of addictive drugs, but since I have, I'm thankful that nothing terrible happened and I was born without an addictive personality.
Flavor Flav should have been on this list
5:17😆
How the he'll don't you include David Crosby on this list?! Yeah he's dead but amazingly drugs didn't kill him
The 2 names which are not named but feel like they should be are:
Al Jourgensen of Ministry
Dave Gahan of Depeche Mode
David Gahan of Depeche Mode died and was revived after a heroine overdoes
Your forgot Steven "popcorn" Adler from GNR
Uncle Al Jourgensen should be in this list lol
This is proof to me that we live in some kind of alternate timeline
Shouldn't it be "died YET....."
Keith doesn't do drugs, drugs do Keith
Dave Gahan, Depeche Mode
What about Dave Gahan from Depeche Mode?
Great point!
1:47 Well, as someone who ALSO grew up in Iowa, there isn't much to do besides drink and do drugs. I know very few people who actually avoided it!
"... yet."
Keith Richards is going to out live us all.
That's a pretty fucked up title, must be said
I understand that taking drugs to hide makes a lot of sense I have been sober for two years and have not left my house to hang out with anybody
Keith Richards definitely has to be on there. I hope he donates his body to science, so the scientist can run a whole bunch of tests to see how the fuck the man lived as long as he did with all the drugs he took.
I love Elton, but Bernie was the songwriter for him
Frusciante still blows my mind
So happy for him. From near death experience to becoming a renowned guitar genius
Before watching, the entire motley Crüe band should be on here
