Rolf Harris. He was a popular TV performer in the UK since the 1960s. He appeared especially in children's shows. I'm not British so I didn't know about him until the 1990s when he was the host of the popular Animal Hospital TV show. I remember that he seemed incredibly nice and was really sympathetic towards people who lost their pets. He seemed like a really nice and kind person. In 2014, he was sentenced to more than five years in prison for 12 counts of indecent assault on young (mostly underage) girls. He had used his fame for decades as a way to get close to young people who trusted him. He denied any wrongdoing, didn't apologize or show any remorse. I was shocked when I heard about it because it was so difficult to believe. He seemed like such a nice guy. He was a big guy with a grey beard, he always made me think of Santa Claus. I think he thought he was like Saville untouchable, but then Saville croaked it and then the truth came out, and he was rightly brought to justice and frankly got what he deserved. Some of his songs looking back are quite questionable as well with what he was really singing about and not as innocent as they seem either, and what's really repulsive is his daughter trying to defend him when he abused her best friend for well over a decade. Oh, yeah, Rolf kept it private, but Karma is a bitch, and she always gets you in the end. The reason Saville got away with it and croaked was because of his connections, but he opened that pandora's box on his death. Ironic that Harris died of throat cancer...not lost on me at all.
He's still working on Bad Boys 4 and attempting to make a comeback. I guess it's a matter of if it's possible for him to bounce back or not. If he's still not successful 2 or 3 years from now, I think it's safe to put him on a list like this. As of right now, I have NO idea how a new Will Smith movie would perform after everything that has happened.
I agree. However, when it comes to white actors who were raised with upbringings at a time when racial insensitivity was viewed as “normal” to many, they should at least have a chance at eventual redemption for their first offense of “making racially insensitive remarks”. This standard should not apply to any white actors/actresses who were 25 or younger when the year 2000 began.
John Kricfalusi groomed two teenage girls in the 90s. He has since been stripped of his job in the animation industry and Comedy Central is rebooting Ren and Stimpy without him.

Perhaps an honorable mention to consider: Logan Paul. He was gaining a lot of attention and fame as a vlogger and minor roles in films. Kevin Spacey despite downfall but he will never forget back in the day were he famous play some of the greatest villain in cinematic and Jonathan Irons in Cod Advanced Warfare ( alongside with Troy Baker ).
I never liked Kanye West. In fact, I always HATED him, especially when I heard that he disrespectfully implied that Harriet Tubman never actually freed the slaves & instead got them to work for other white people. So his inevitable & eventual downfall from last year didn’t surprise me at all because he truly deserved it. That time he made Taylor Swift look bad when she was given an award that he felt Beyoncé deserved instead. I REALLY hope that Kanye West doesn’t ever regain his old status as a beloved artist because his awful behavior proves he DOESN’T deserve a good comeback at all.

Stephen Collins was someone I used to enjoy watching, for example, in “Star Trek: The Motion Picture.” I was sorry to read about his downfall. Robert Blake was terrific in “Baretta,” but screwed up chance after chance offered to him. They should be added to this list.

I agree, not guilty is not guilty... too many people have the belief that people don't have ulterior motives for allegations and that "there's no smoke without fire". Its why we don't have pitchforks anymore.
Somehow we expect the people we revere and admire to live up to a higher standard, but in the end they're just as human as the rest of us and sometimes they do and say terrible things. Sometimes I think some of them have been judged harshly and unfairly. Not so with Bill Cosby, Matt Lauer, Jared Fogle and O.J. Simpson. They're pathological and unredeemable, and they deserve to be completely forgotten.
Sadly Ms. O' Connor died in the Summer of 2023. If there was a dishonorable list of a career that took a downturn and never recovered she belongs that on that list. She was super-famous in her sport and Olympic athletes & promoters. She was quietly dubbed "the next Dorothy Hamill" -- not only was she the first woman to execute & complete a triple Axel (something only the most accomplished *male skaters* could do), but she was ALSO the first woman ever to execute *TWO* triple Axels in a single competition - not to mention being the *first ever* (male OR female) to complete the triple Axel double toe loop combo! (I knew about the 1st two, but Wiki clued me in on the third). She was about to become the Michael Jordan (dunk contest Michael) of figure skating! It's super unfortunate that she didn't have the natural body poise & grace of Nancy Kerrigan and saw that as a threat to her own success when she had such amazing power & strength that would've had folks saying, "Nancy WHO?" (Remember that Ralph Sampson was drafted ahead of MJ?)
@@JoeMCool Yes, but again as I said most people never heard of her before the Olympics and part of what makes a celebrity or sports figure memorable is also their demeanor and presentation. Wow! People sure can get themselves in a lot of trouble. Sometimes the best course such a toppled celebrity can take is to withdrawal from public life. Folks forget about them and maybe someday they can show their face in a restaurant again.
Only one I feel kinda bad for is Roseanne Barr, as I recall she didn't use "racially insensitive language" at all, she posted a poorly worded rant that was interpreted as racially charged, but that was not her intention at all and it ended her career, all for a single tweet.
Yes, Roseanne got a very bad rap. Perhaps she should have been suspended or something where she had to apologize publicly or take a racial sensitivity class or something but no one can know for sure what she meant and to take away a show that she made legendary and fire her permanently for a tweet to me is just far out crazy. It somewhat taints the memory of “Roseanne (worse than the final season did).

"Don't make yourself an idol." Is it necessary to be responsible for the actions of celebrities - yes. Can I be outraged by any words or actions of celebrities - yes. Can their words or actions offend me - no, because they are nobody in my life. You can take offense at someone from whom you expect emotions (positivity, similarity of opinions, etc.), but I get emotions from the plot of the film and whether I believe the actor or not, and not from a particular artist. Therefore, for example, the attitude towards favorite films with "canceled" celebrities has not changed.

Oh, yeah, Rolf kept it private, but Karma is a bitch, and she always gets you in the end. The reason Saville got away with it and croaked was because of his connections, but he opened that pandora's box on his death. Ironic that Harris died of throat cancer...not lost on me at all.
They didn't include Will Smith on the list. That's a genuine shock
to soon
He's still working on Bad Boys 4 and attempting to make a comeback. I guess it's a matter of if it's possible for him to bounce back or not. If he's still not successful 2 or 3 years from now, I think it's safe to put him on a list like this. As of right now, I have NO idea how a new Will Smith movie would perform after everything that has happened.
His "downfall" was on the same night as the biggest achievement in his career, its too soon to say hes had a downfall, just consequences.
He’ll be fine. He sucks and deserves to be canceled but he will still be fine.
Too soon for will.
It seems that these celebrities think they are above the law and some don’t believe they would get punished.
I still can’t watch Kevin Spacey in anything anymore.
Can't really blame you
Movies with Kevin Spacey:
- A Time to Kill
- The Negotiator
- The Supects
- Superman Returns
- American Beauty
- Pay It Forward
he acts better than Anthony Rapp, he ruins Star Trek
Kevin Spacey was one of my favorite actors
Really just goes to show that anyone can put on a show to hide who they really are.
WatchMojo forgot to mention that Mel Gibson spewed hateful shit towards Oksana Grigorieva during a phone call.
using the n word too
Yup and it took Hacksaw Ridge in 2016 to revive his career although Mel's rough past always catches up to him.
John Kricfalusi groomed two teenage girls in the 90s. He has since been stripped of his job in the animation industry and Comedy Central is rebooting Ren and Stimpy without him.
When I saw Cosby at #4 I had a hard time thinking of who could be worse. I used to be such a big fan as a kid in the 80s too.
That is exactly what I thought!
Good on you for not ruining the #1 spot in the thumbnail.
10:49 Only abusers say that them abusing someone else, in any way, is not really a big deal to them. Here's a hint: abusive people who say things like that, are sometimes still abusing people, they have just been careful not to get caught again.
Perhaps an honorable mention to consider:
Logan Paul. He was gaining a lot of attention and fame as a vlogger and minor roles in films. Then his trip to the Aokigahara forest happened, and he was never the same afterwards - even a highly publicized fight against KSI (to which he lost in the rematch) wasn’t enough to give him back the fame he once had before Japan.
They need to be famous person, not useless spoiled brats :D
What happened there?
@@jopalm3649 His Aokigahara vlog involved them finding a body of a person who recently committed suicide there. Their filmed reaction and the insensitive nature surrounding their filming of the body was what led to backlash.
I love how most of these people aren’t “canceled” until they’re 80+ years old.
R Kelly Makes Me Sick of What He Did After a Successful Music Career With Many R&B Hits Such As “I Believe I Can Fly” and I Lost All Respect For Him After Being Charged For 30 Years!
Nikki Sixx had a famous downfall in the 80s. He played bass for rock band Mötley Crüe and became addicted to heroin in the 80s when the band became popular. His life started falling apart because of his addiction but the worst time was when he overdosed in 1986 at the end of the Girls, Girls, Girls, tour and had to be brought back by two full syringes of adrenaline.
I’m surprised Michael Vick never made the list with the dog fighting scandal.
That’s most likely because his career was able to recover from that when he signed with the eagles

More recently I know of Kanye West one, knew of Shia LaBeouf, Mel Gibson, Woody Allen, Roseanne Barr, Kevin Spacey R Kelly, Bill Cosby, Harvey Weinstein and O.J Simpson.
This should be a lesson for those who want to go in and be famous, don't do what these people did to get them in this pit. Be better please 🙏 ❤.

Qassaman, if Kanye does this to Putin then he would be arrested
I can't believe that it wasn't that long ago that subway guy got arrested like geez.
Ummm did they forget that Shia made a comeback by doing two critically acclaimed films in one year via “Peanut Butter Falcon” and “Honey Boy”?
I'm assuming so. If anything I always delt bad for him to some degree
Shia is a terrible terrible person who needs to go the fuck away.
Peanut Butter Falcon WAS Fantastic.
I was never capable of turning on my guy-a Shia! Omg…holes? Tru Confessions? Disturbia? Something behind about that crooked smile will never say “I can body sway 5 fingers of death!” If Mariah Carey’s vocal range could be personified in a theatre. Which brings to the all the so call downcall. As cliche as it might sound, the lens that capture his brilliance is the same one he’s in front of in his real life. Idk this guy outside a play button & these megapixels. And he wrote & starred in Honey Boy….in rehab. 🤯 Just let that marinate & the whats consider rock bottom.
Wasn't he in Fury and that Nymphomaniac movie(s)?
OJ was on a call in show and some guy called in and asked him which was harder: 2000 yards in a season or killing 2 people in one night.
Lol, What happened? Did the show hang up on him?
in jujubee's defence, losing drag race 5 times is not a downfall....its tenacity, perseverance and wholelotta fried chicken wings
Aww poor Anthony Rapp😢 I had no idea he went through that with Kevin Spacey.
So, where would these DIShonorable Mentions be ranked?!
- Donald Trump
- Amber Heard
- Will Smith
- Joss Whedon
- Arnie Hammer
Armie* (and I agree)
I agree good list but don't forget Dan Schneider (producer on nick)
Are the wives of Epstein and Cosby idiotically alike?
I agree with everything except Will Smith
Will Smith still has a career and his new movie came out last year on Apple TV.
Yeah, Tonya Harding was really insincere on what happened to Kerrigan.
This proves that she knew what her husband did to Nancy, and just kept silent, or borderline approved of it.
It was easy to say to move on, because you destroyed another's dreams, just to boost your own.
Uh yeah Chris Brown still has a booming career. Shouldn’t be that way but it is. It’s absolutely preposterous to say he got cancelled or lost his career
“Chris Brown went from R&B singer to domestic abuser.”

why the Boy Scouts of America?
@Abraham Lupis so many kids reported s**ual abuse at the hands of scout masters. All those allegations and so many churches/community groups cut affiliation with them.
Chris Brown shouldn't be on here. The incident with Rihanna had zero effect on his career sadly
Bill Cosby was also in the cartoon show Fat Albert. Tragic how he broke so many fans hearts after the crimes he committed. Letting him out of jail early might not be such a good idea.
I agree Bill Cosby deserves more jail time. But how would Cosby be able to pull off using pills to drug women he wants to have sex with ever again? Cosby will be turning 87 in 2024 you know.
And ironically that show focused on teaching kids lessons about life and how to be a good person. The hypocrisy with that one just floors me.
yeah that was tragic, but for me the worst part of it all was the rapping
@@yisusoflare6225 Agreed.
Bill Cosby did nothing wrong!!!
Having to give that grammy back hurt so bad the dude just hung it up and killed himself RIP melly 😢
Stephen Collins was someone I used to enjoy watching, for example, in “Star Trek: The Motion Picture.” I was sorry to read about his downfall. Robert Blake was terrific in “Baretta,” but screwed up chance after chance offered to him. They should be added to this list.
Yeah. I feel the same way also about Joe Rogan and Kevin Sorbo, but they'd is more about their false information spreading during and post covid. But all of them I can't stand to watch without thinking of negative stuff.
Omg have just started watching and I swear if OJ is #1 I’m gonna …. Ugh. His wife and her friend were murdered - that’s no not controversy … that’s a crime full stop
Funny how all these abusive men become really frail when on trial!
I'm surprised Roman Polanski didn't make this list.
I'm surprised Bill Cosby wasn't number 1 on this list.
well, he simply continue filming in other countries

I still love R Kelly's I Believe I Can Fly. The Space Jam soundtrack can do no wrong.
10:03 Just wanting to point out that getting into an argument with a friend, relative, spouse, partner or stranger, doesn't mean that they have any right to physically, mentally, emotionally or verbally abuse you, no one has the right to hurt anyone over a disagreement or argument, it should be solved by talking. If you are being abused, please get help, from anyone that you know you can trust. Please know that you matter, that someone cares & sees you & stands with you & wants you to know a few things: it's ok to feel alone, it's ok to not be ok, it's ok to be scared, it's ok to feel there's no hope, it's ok to to feel & think & say what you need to feel & think & say, it's ok to wonder if it gets better, it's ok to wonder if you'll make it, it's ok to wonder about who will help protect you from your monsters, it's ok to wonder if there's any point in asking for help. You are not alone, you matter & you have every right to be safe, respected, cared for, loved, appreciated, cherished, needed, wanted, understood & saved. For those in need, I'll spare you a thought.
Amber Heard will get on such a list soon enough.
True…although she shouldn’t be in the top 10 Hollywood celebrities who destroyed their careers list unless she has continued or decides to continue her abusive behavior on another person after Johnny depp won his civil trial against her
she was never that big to begin with, she was a c-lister climbing her way to the top before the whole Depp thing began
I knew many popular filmmakers had to be here because of the MeToo movement. Not saying they shouldn’t be.
as they should?
It is an impressive feat to screw up the aspect ratio of 4:3 video in both directions within the same video. Way to go video editor!!

@Airstrip One I was just joking. I know he was a football player first.
OJ Got away with murder
@@swolfe9668 Thanks, I remember.
15:30. I am not sure Kevin Spacey should still be added to lists like this. There have been 6 court cases against him and he won all 6 without 1 jury member voting against him. Heck, Anthony Rapp just lost his case against Kevin Spacey and RAPP has to pay Spacey's lawyer fees and $39,000 for defamation.
Kevin Spacey’s public reputation is still largely trash as of right now. Plus Spacey still isn’t able to get any new movie roles right now
I agree, not guilty is not guilty... too many people have the belief that people don't have ulterior motives for allegations and that "there's no smoke without fire". Its why we don't have pitchforks anymore.
I wonder if Lance Armstrong will be on this list.
Top Ten Celebrity Redemption Arcs
Somehow we expect the people we revere and admire to live up to a higher standard, but in the end they're just as human as the rest of us and sometimes they do and say terrible things. Sometimes I think some of them have been judged harshly and unfairly. Not so with Bill Cosby, Matt Lauer, Jared Fogle and O.J. Simpson. They're pathological and unredeemable, and they deserve to be completely forgotten.
Spend love I would add Weinstein, Pistorius and R. Kelly to that infamous list for being unforgivable for their crimes as well.
I’m surprised there weren’t honorable mentions. I was expecting to see Sinead O’Connor on this list.
Sinead O’Connor might not be on the list because she didn’t deserve to have her reputation destroyed nor her career damaged
@@CraigMcGuinn Most people disagree with you.
Sadly Ms. O' Connor died in the Summer of 2023. If there was a dishonorable list of a career that took a downturn and never recovered she belongs that on that list. There was other ways to protest the lack of action on the Child Sex Abuse on the global Catholic Church then tearing up a picture of at that time, a beloved Pope on American National TV as she did.
Some time why do we forget the good things people do and just Remember the bad things 😢
I’m only surprised that Kanye is on this list because I never knew anyone that liked him to begin with
Never meet your heroes
Isn't it funny that a lot of these folks were famous on TV shows. And this includes Stephen Collins and Danny Masterson.
Tonya Harding wasn’t exactly a well-known celebrity before the incident. Most people never heard of her before the Olympics.
She had strength and skill and athleticism but not the grace you normally associate with a figure skater, especially the ones who became household names.
Thanks watchmojo you helped me find a old song that sounds familiar. I'm hunting songs I don't know the names of but sound like I've heard them before. Now I got another fav of zz top. Im young and I didn't know that was them. 😊
Wow! People sure can get themselves in a lot of trouble. Sometimes the best course such a toppled celebrity can take is to withdrawal from public life. Folks forget about them and maybe someday they can show their face in a restaurant again.
The fact that you commented on Kayne West using the phrase « it was met with a swift backlash » just made my day

Suge Knight should be on here
Is it me or alot of people on this list sat and interviewed with Matt Lauer... who is also on the list.
Shia has made fantastic movies lately
What gets me is why was she ever famous to begin with? She is basically an ick.
It wasn’t just a single tweet. It came to light she had a history of referring to black women with that slur.
I remember many of these scandals 😅
How many times does WM make videos with the same content under different names?

"Don't make yourself an idol." Is it necessary to be responsible for the actions of celebrities - yes. Can I be outraged by any words or actions of celebrities - yes. Can their words or actions offend me - no, because they are nobody in my life. You can take offense at someone from whom you expect emotions (positivity, similarity of opinions, etc.), but I get emotions from the plot of the film and whether I believe the actor or not, and not from a particular artist. Therefore, for example, the attitude towards favorite films with "canceled" celebrities has not changed.
