Best decision one can make playing Genshin. Avoid the whirlpool of toxicity in social media platform
It's interesting how Monstadt is "just Europe".
Seeing how Asia, Africa and Souther America are treated in other media this isn't really new.
Western Europe to be more precise. Fontaine is supposed to be Germany/Hungary and Szhnezhnaya is based on Russia I think.
@@ProxyDoug Fontaine will be France. And Monstadt is Germany.
@@yesman1743 yeah just from the name Fountaine sounds like it will be france.
The game is just gorgeous
The animation even though its toned down from honkai impact still looks good
The lore is a lot
The exploration is great
The game In general is great but the whaling problem is very prevalent
How does other people whaling affect you though?
@@idmss2663 yeah. I was just gonna ask that lol
It's not like there's a PVP in the game lol
Great ad, I played the game a little bit when it released but I came back after NeverKnowsBest made his critique video.
I haven't stopped playing since, I also play with my sister.
The game is great, I'm still getting through Liyue storyline so there's still tons to go.
The music just compliments everything about this game
I can’t believe you didn’t talk about Amakumo peak on Serai island
Glad to see some OTAQUEST-like content coming to your main channel!
I explored literally the entirety of mondstadt and liyue when the game came out. Burnt myself out on literally all of the content. 2.0 comes out and I definitely do not feel like doing it again. Word of advice to anyone who wants to get into genshin, find people to play with so you can enjoy the game socially. Playing the game on your own is awful especially when not playing for story.
true, only reason ive played a gacha is cause my friends are doing it. what made it even more fun was finding bugs and glitches and exploits.
Ok you've sold me
Sometimes I wonder what would have happen if instead of marketing the game so much they would have paid attention to there existing player base and appreciate them... I can only wonder.....v_v
I would really recommend making a video about Sanzigen.
That would be interesting
Imagine Kujo, a Shogunate commander casually strolling through a rebel encampment. Genshin, like Honkai has made me feel all kings of things.
I like the game, I just can't handle gatcha. I've tried to play many and it just discourages me. Honestly it's not too bad in Genshin tho.
I think my other thing is the daily time sync but I may just be making excuses and I'm always tempted to reinstall.
This channel is so underrated

Aww I was hoping to get something on the cutscene animation, a lot of the newer cutscenes look stylish in a way that feels very technically informed by 2D, but in a way that's different from Guilty Gear?
Was hoping somebody with more animation technical knowledge could put it into words.
A lot of it would be saying the same stuff from my video last year: ua-cam.com/video/Tlnx_Q1GzNg/v-deo.html
I hoped that they'd grow to match the quality of Honkai over time, and while they're still not there, they're able to make some really impressive work while having it all run in real-time.
@@TheCanipaEffect Oh wow, don't know how I missed that video! Thanks for the reply~
"it's very European with windmills and.."
Asia: are my farming joke to you?
I love the art direction, but there are technical limitations that bugs me. There are not enough people in cities. They felt lived in rather than feels lived in. I get it at Mondstat, but after the Stormterror crisis, I was hoping life would return.
Another thing is probably a PS4 technical limitation, but the environment popup can be jarring. I've walked up to blurry low-poly buildings and had to wait a few seconds before the high-detailed models would load in.
Genshin is unoptimized for something that's made in Unity Engine. It shouldn't be an issue for something with a specialized hardware such as a PS4 if they even optimized its code and resource loads in the first place. Not to mention that hitbox glitches still happens in Stormterror's domain.
With such state they can only show so much in order not to break the game, which is disappointing. Genshin's open world adventure is enjoyable but the problem is that there's little to do for its surface area. It's too barren. If they start optimizing the whole thing, maybe we can experience more flavors moving forward.
There are other similar games with assets that show better detail but ain't as taxing to the hardware than this.
@@takoriin I haven't play on the PC, so I just assume the performance is better. I mean, if we look at the crowd size, we know games can put a lot of people in since the first Assassin's Creed game back on PS3 and 360.
Exactly. MHY doesn't know a thing on how to make an open world RPG and clearly skipped out some essentials instead of learning from examples. While the world is lush, it's pretty much soulless for an RPG of its scale. RPGs like this are commonly overran by tons of NPCs, be it interactable or not. In Genshin's case, I think thay they bailed out on this one for some reason we don't know.
It does run well on PC, but I admit that my RX570/1st gen Ryzen 5 setup does experience hiccups when the mobs increase in numbers. This shouldn't have been an issue if they just chose to optimize the game further, knowing that they do intend to make this as a live service in the first place.
I don't exactly blame them. There could be some cultural differences on how they were setting their benchmark. It was only recently that China allows for Western games to enter their market, so the team could have less exposure to NPC filled open world games. If you compared the amount of NPC in other open world MMO made in China or even old ones like WoW (which has been in China for years), Genshin is pretty similar.
So they might have aimed towards those games as their goalpost without thinking too much internationally?
If they had a harder goalpost to start with, they could have probably pull it off, but now the game out, it might be much more difficult to re-optimize their engines for more crowds.
@@ArchOfWinter well, that makes sense. Maybe their benchmark ain't that high, to begin with, or it can also be the dev's lack of insight.
Come to think of it, it took them more than a year to make Honkai optimized to run even at the lowest specs.
*Monstadt might be Typical yet it also most nostalgic and feeling like home*
dammit, im crying for no reason.
At this point I'm only staying for the fucking fantastic music and some waifu bait
Great video, but Seirai Island's storm got cut out and that's a shame. Regardless, I noticed you mentioned you skip watching new trailers, but you do have footage from some of the Character Demo trailers, so I guess you do go watch them afterwards, because it'd be a shame to miss out on the fantastic editing and music of those trailers, at least!
Yup! Watched them for this video and they're a really good time. Probably gonna watch those, but skip the update trailers
Nice adv... i mean video, yeah...
Ah yes, Dragonspyre, the Wizard101/Genshin Impact crossover we needed.
Best thing and worst thing about Genshin impact is it's community, nothing more nothing less.
I haven't spent a single penny and got what I want, just a bit of grinding and I'm satisfied. It's very much f2p friendly. But I hate this toxic part of community
I love your videos and this one is great too! but the timing does make me think if mihoyo sponsored this to get the negative anniversary attention off themselves XD
I'll acknowledge the fact that the handcrafting effort put in these world are spectacular from the Genshin team! Too bad I can't say the same with the Archon Quest that they made in 2.1 which is dreadful...
this games bigest acomplishment is that it's cross platform ! pc ps5/xbox & mobile
people hate on this game for the sake of hating .
recently lots of casual players are upset about the one year anniversary rewards . understandable but i say unless you're Adventure Rank 57 you have no claim to any rewards .
Not yet on Xbox sadly.
I really do wish they had done better with their anniversary rewards, that's yet another area where Honkai is better.
Sorry but by gacha standards, these are shitty rewards. A 10 roll granting you what? You're not even guaranteed a 4 star character, you could get a weapon. And don't get me started on the contests. Holding fanart and cosplay contest so that the participants only get a small chance to get anything while promoting the game is it's own level of bullshit.
Meanwhile in FGO for instance, you had a paid gacha granting you a random 5 star with some way to influence luck through multiple banners. Even Honkai granted a free 5 star and more than 20 free pulls. And Genshin also gave a free 4 star... During a random update which makes this 10 roll reward even more ridiculous.
Let's just hope and wait for the anniversary, could be a PR strat to act like "we did listen to the players and gave better rewards" but so far, the rewards are bad and that's a fact.

Great video.
Lilo : This is very good Stitch, this world is very calm?
Stitch (Experiment 626): Really nice and quiet, hopefully there are no enemies here
Lilo : That's right Stitch, we have to keep protecting this world just like the earth from evil enemies
Stitch (Experiment 626) Meega Nala Vista! the enemy must die and there is no mercy!
Lilo : But it seems we have to meet them here and acquaintances
Stitch (Experiment 626): Come on, let's get to know everyone here
Abyss 12-3 is my bitch.
Well when anime oriented channel making sponsored video of genshin and speaking only about environments, that's fail for both - you and devs. Your channel is amazing for dissecting anime for talents, art design, animation technics and so on - and not about "look how islands look like botw". There's so much you can tell about characters design and how good 3d look in there and how its work - but lets talk about what your viewers didn't want to hear
He talked about that in a previous video about Genshin Impact
@@WhyIsUA-camSoTerrible yes and it makes this video even worthless

I find it a bit obnoxious that the one mobile game that's gained mass popularity posses all the gacha exploits that people *criticize,* to the point that it's tainted the entire platform's reputation.
It's fun to start some events are good I dont even try to play the game though at all anymore I just want to have fun
Could've been better if this was a full-fledged game with DLCs than a gacha-feeding live service.
Definitely. If they included everything that happened from 1.0-1.6, and all the temporary events were permanent, they could have sold that for a good $30, then do $10 per region expansion, so like everything from 2.0-2.X, then another for 3.0-3.X and so on. Though, I do recognize they definitely would not have made as much money if they did it like that, and thus each expansion wouldn't be as big as what we're getting now, unless they do what Final Fantasy XIV does and prices each expansion at $40, but all previous expansions come with the newest one, but players who own all previous expansions still have to pay full price to play the new one.
it would have been nice with a "opinions are my own" or that you are still allowed to criticize or something when the whole video is sponsored?
Yeah, all opinions are my own. Like most videos on this channel, I just chose an angle that I was most interested in talking about.
I play Genshin and genuinely like it... but this video to be honest feels too much like an ad lol.
If it helps, none of this is based on talking points or anything. I actually had the script idea before I got the sponsorship offer.
Yeah the world design is pretty cool and all but looking at how they do their "live services", at this point they're using Genshin to promote their Honkai Impact lol
Honkai Impact feels like their actual passion projects, whereas Genshin's live services to their pricing and general Microtransaction is something which Jim Sterling usually shittalking through, but of course even Jim Sterling wouldn't even dare to touch Genshin, Genshin fandom with both of it's fanboys and complainers will make her shudder to the point for Jim to be easier at shittalking local Western's games' and Japanese games' live services
How are they using genshin to promote honkai at this point? there is only one collab between them and thats it
You couldn't feel the passion put into genshin when you played it? They upped the bar by making it feel more professional but nonetheless you can still feel a lot of passion made into a whole product.
Become a whale today!
Freemogems where? XD
Can't get into Genshin, just nowhere near as strong as Honkai.
Story and combat isn't the strongest, it's strongest it's world and music yeah you can say story is bad and combat is average but the things that's superior in genshin is it's music and world personally im more hyped into each regions music and their visuals in world
"This video is sponsored by Genshin Impact" *quits*
It has a similar appeal to breath of the wild.
While this game has amazing potential, it's absolutely destroying EVERYTHING it could go to. All of these are my personal opinions.
1. Main lore. If you've done the Inazuma storyline, you may realise that they've completely ignored several potential interesting features. The side lore (lore of artifacts, weapons) is way more deep than what the game explores.
2. Exploration. Nothing much to say, it's just as good as it gets and is the main attraction in the game which is actually being done perfectly.
3. Characters and their designs. While the gacha is what most people pay for..I'm not a fan of how almost every character is given unnecessary fanservice with their teasers and trailers. This is still somewhat acceptable.
4. Mihoyo itself..my main criticism. They gave their community absolute CRAP. With their anniversary, 10 wishes..yes 10 rolls, even their Lantern Rite event had better rewards and so do other gacha anniversary rewards. There's also their "events" for the anniversary. A few hundred primos for artists and cosplays who're lucky enough to win and..even the prizes are basically a gacha, shamelessly.
It saddens me a lot that a game with amazing character designs, areas and a potential for a great plot is not being used to its fullest.

I feel sorry for the fools who didn't want to play the game because of gatcha , even though you don't actually have to do it, to can use the free characters
I just feel the whole monetization mode is ruining my experience. The entire game system is built around the Gacha and because of that the progression really feel underwhelming and unrewarding (Especially when it is about Artifact setup and the whole Spiral Abyss).
The game looks amazing but I'll probably never play it due to the gatcha mechanics. It just leaves a bad taste in my mouth.
They're not that intrusive. You can get a lot of free summoning ressources through exploration and quests (way enough to get the guaranteed pity at least once). The starting roster, while of course generally worse than the summoned characters, gets you a character for each weapon type and element so there's never some content blocked behind the gacha. You can do your whole adventure without ever summoning a character from the gacha (aside from the Geo/Great Sword character which is guaranteed on the first roll in the tutorial)
Hey kids, I hope you like greedy gacha mechanics, an endless grind loop, and an incomplete mediocre story. 👍
@@aidandillon8402 "not an essential feature"
The gacha is the entire reward system.
It's the only way to experience most of the characters.
Please don't promote this game. The company is frighteningly predatory.
Mihoyo is getting waaay too into their own stuff, mind you I enjoyed this video and still mostly enjoy GI, but any decision aside from the artistic ones have been sadly tainted by just shameless greed.
I really like gacha games and the challenge of seeing how far I can get with just being F2P,I never minded having to do some sacrifices but this game still takes the cake for least generous, which is ridiculous when you see just how much money it's making.
I hope the time for MiHoYo to be humbled comes sooner rather than it inevitably blowing up in their faces.
This game is so crap.
Storyline and non-fun grinding mechanics are big culprits.
