As a Chinese, It’s a shame you didn’t receive a good impression of Chinese people before but I hope this trip can change your perceptions of us ❤. I also want to say that a lot of Chinese grew up really really poor (my grandpa for example ate dirt for half a month to fill his belly) so a lot of older Chinese might lack manners due to being born in circumstances where they just couldn’t afford to care, but this is slowly being changed as socioeconomic conditions in China rise, and people are able to afford to be more considerate. I can also say that a lot of the elders in China, despite lacking manners, are some of the most down to earth and kind people you’ll ever meet. A lot of them hold a lot of empathy to people from worser circumstances to them as well, so I hope that this helps understand why Chinese might give off the impression that they lack manners (which I think is definitely improving!)❤❤
This is such a wonderful message and thank you so much for sharing, we have had the warmest welcome since arriving in China and can’t wait to see more. People are so friendly and helpful where they can be and your grandpas experience is saddening but also puts things into great perspective. Thank you for your kind comment and I hope you have a great week ahead of you ☺️

@@EoinandAisling welcome to China, and it's very normal to have negative impressions of China before visiting. Western propaganda is too poweful!
@@fengying-haoyunllianlian This is not an exaggeration at all. The Chinese economy took off after the year 2000, only had enough to eat in the 1990s, and it was even worse in the 1980s. I also heard my grandfather say that there was not enough to eat at that time. There was a kind of soil called Guanyin soil in China, which was edible during that time

More and more UA-camrs and foreigners are going into china and getting to know the truth about the country! Bravos!
So many more people should visit China and see it for themselves
Welcome t China. Use your real experiences to expose the lies of politicians and the media.
Sadly, not many will. Only those who are mentally ready to challenge their own perceptions will make such attempts. Majority of people prefer sticking to what they already "know" and only expose themselves to content that reinforce those knowledge.
@@che9218 well then let them sit in the dark.
@@EoinandAisling guys, stop consuming western MSM propaganda because that is the driving force behind all these misconceptions and mistruths.
also, it's been widely reported that the US funded the wuhan institute of virology, so there's that.
china's had wet markets for millenia and no issues. wet markets are common in broader asia too.
UA-cam has recently pushed to me a number of China travel vlogs by foreign visitors who visited the country the first time. You would notice in almost every video that the vloggers would say they had such a bad impression on China and they still went to see for themselves. Kudos to those "adventurers." Sadly, after watching the videos, one would easily draw the conclusion that how much straight lies, misinformation and distorted presentations their governments, politicians and media had fed them. Not surprising that the US government wants to ban tiktok in the US now. Why? Because they cannot control tik-tok which is providing more balanced information on the world, such as those happening in Gaaaza. Sad but so true!
Its not balance... its dumb foreigners being paid to promote China... connect the dots and wonder why so many foreigners ( usually under 40 ) are saying China is such a great place. China playing its usual games and gullible westerners falling for it. Truth is there to see when you look .
I am ashamed of those politicians, anchors and reporters in western countries. They have been organizing all those people (who appear as good people in public and are kind to children, elders, disabilities) to tell lies about China. How hypocritical they are! It is so dangerous for me to live with them or have such kind of relatives.
I'll tell you something I'm sure will make you laugh. I read/heard Trump is using TikTok ... 🤣🤣🤣 We have been fed lies all our lives until ... the advent of Internet & Social Media.
It’s because those tings which create the bad impression are true. They just aren’t on display in tourist areas and capital cities.
@@SophyaAgain if you think social media is telling you the truth…. LOL

For a fraction of the cost, you can travel in China vs. travel in Western Europe or the US. Since China is so big and diversified, there is so much to explore in this interesting country. On top of it, China is very very safe for tourists.

I can certainly agree with this statement. Tourist attractions, food, and hotel are super affordable. I stayed at a Holiday Inn Express in Luoyang China for $50 USD per night. Got coffee at Lucky coffee for 7 yuan which is $1 USD. Taxi trips to places around the city were $1 to $2 USD.

The amazing thing I find about current day China is they've managed to develop a bustling night time economy. While in the big cities, subways are so convenient and inexpensive, you can go all over the city quite easily. That coupled with the awesome street & building lights as well as the very safe environment makes it a whole new experience very hard to find in western cities. In fact, I find my country so boring now after coming back from recent trip to Shenzhen and Guangzhou.
Look at all these families going about, this type of scene is hardly ever seen in the US, where its most individual people going about, shady people lurking around, just a very negative vibe. in China, the cities are ALIVE, the whole country is just so vibrant.

It's 2024 now, yet the Western perception of China remains woefully inadequate and rather superficial, as if stuck in a time warp. This is not an isolated issue but a pervasive one. Despite hailing from societies that claim to be free, open, and democratic, is China truly as fearsome as it is depicted in the media and on television? The answer is a resounding no. That portrayal is a distorted image of China, deliberately crafted by the Western ruling elite based on ideological grounds. Take, for example, the surveillance cameras in public urban spaces, which are primarily used for maintaining law and order and monitoring traffic. However, they have been disproportionately amplified to be seen as instruments of mass surveillance. Given the unparalleled scale of China's urban centers, it's a challenge that few can fully comprehend. As of 2020, China boasts 18 cities with populations exceeding 10 million and 91 cities with more than 5 million inhabitants, according to official statistics. Managing such vast metropolises is not a task that can be accomplished by human effort alone; it necessitates the assistance of technological solutions for effective governance. Yet, this reality has been misrepresented by Western media, which has long been used to misinform Western populations. If Westerners have not yet come to a correct understanding of China by now, they risk being left behind in the future by the East.
Yes. Misleading their people like this will lead their countries to nowhere.

宜兴是江苏省的。浙江省的是安吉大竹海,李安《卧虎藏龙》竹稍上打斗拍摄的地方。
你做的攻略也太详细了吧😂
the dish you don't know the name might be 鱼香肉丝饭 fish flavored shredded pork and rice. and shanghai version fish flavored shredded pork is quite different from original sichuan version while it replaces shredded carrot , green pepper, and mushroom in the original recipe with shredded bamboo shoots.
Glad you open your eyes
I remember the first time my mother in law left her native former communist country, to come and visit us in the west. She was also totally flappergastet to see this "capitalist" country, they always had told her was totally exploited and near slave like conditions. Not at all what she expected. This couple also have very little travel experience, and are " impressed " by virtually everything that is not knocked over. I wish you the best of luck - there are many surprises for you as you continue being globetrotters.
I wouldn’t say we have little travel experience as we have been travelling around Asia for almost 3 years but yes we will continue to be surprised and impressed when going to new countries, I see nothing wrong with this
Look at the homeless people in your country
@@andyqian1241The homeless people in my country ..".
Yes, who are they: They come in buses from Romania and Bulgaria, sit "homeless" in the streets and beg for money. When they have collected enough, typically 3 weeks, they take the bus back to where they came from, and live there in style for about 3 month - and then everything repeats...
Loads of illegal migrants attempts to enter the country every day, and we feed a lot of them. We are sick and tired of feeding half the world, and now with the EU elections, a lot of people change their vote to have this circus stopped. So much for our "homeless" people...
Great video, enjoy your stay in China👍❤️
which month / week were you in Shanghai please? Considering weather for a future trip
btw if you eat those fried dumplings again be sure to take a small bite and let the juices inside cool down first. they can be crazy hot, i learnt this the hard way when i was younger, enjoy my home town~
You need to add a grey filter to your camera like how the BBC does😁
😂
The software could fix it, don’t need half dark filters.
I'm sure you will be happy back to China after this short 15 days visit.
Yes I think 15 days is not enough to visit the whole China.
Welcome to travel in China. There are many interesting and fun places in China. Looking forward to your subsequent program sharing.
Thank you for telling the truth to people across the globe.
You are fantastic.
Once again, thank you.
Thank you so much, what a nice message
@@EoinandAislingIf you have an opportunity, please visit Xinjiang to see the truth.
Thank you 🙏🙏🙏
China is a really beautiful place.
.. without Xi Jinping
Agreed!
dude cant you just stick to bbc's script?????
Must see in Shanghai: Go to JingAn Temple (which is on the green metro line), and just pick a road to walk south from there. You'll some of the most unique and beautiful city streets in the world
I'm originally from Shanghai, welcome! The pan-fried buns (called Sheng Jian Bao) are an absolutely iconic dim sum of Shanghai, along with the OG Xiao Long Bao. The rice dish you ordered was probably served with Jiao Bai (Manchurian wild rice) which is usually enjoyed as a vegetable and also quite typical for East China. And the cooking technique is called red braising (with soy sauce). U were pretty lucky to get all the good old traditional stuffs.
What is the vpn you guys are using? I'll be visiting soon and I have no idea which one will work
Free or charge? I always use free VPNs that I run my own program to crawl, and then load them with clash
I had used the free version of Privado VPN in my recent two China trips without issues. Worth checking out!
I don't mind paid ones if you have some good recommendations
Either one will do, idk mind paying for a VPN that is guarantee to work with no issues
@@jasonyeow1650 You are right. Free things are unstable. I also have to create new nodes every two weeks, but fortunately, I wrote the code to obtain the nodes myself, so I don't have to trouble anyone else. It's okay to buy one, a subscription node for around $2 a month, and it's not expensive either
상하이는 국제도시라 외국인들이 여행하기 좋아요. 한국인들도 많이 관광가는 도시 입니다. 한국에도 여행 오세요 :)
If you are on mobile roaming, you have no problems accessing your Facebook, IG, Google etc. Google maps though is a little off, since Google has not updated its maps in China in ages
Chinese currency is RMB (ren men bi). Yuan is sort of denomination units which has been widely used.
