As a Chinese, It’s a shame you didn’t receive a good impression of Chinese people before but I hope this trip can change your perceptions of us ❤. I also want to say that a lot of Chinese grew up really really poor (my grandpa for example ate dirt for half a month to fill his belly) so a lot of older Chinese might lack manners due to being born in circumstances where they just couldn’t afford to care, but this is slowly being changed as socioeconomic conditions in China rise, and people are able to afford to be more considerate. I can also say that a lot of the elders in China, despite lacking manners, are some of the most down to earth and kind people you’ll ever meet. A lot of them hold a lot of empathy to people from worser circumstances to them as well, so I hope that this helps understand why Chinese might give off the impression that they lack manners (which I think is definitely improving!)❤❤

UA-cam has recently pushed to me a number of China travel vlogs by foreign visitors who visited the country the first time. You would notice in almost every video that the vloggers would say they had such a bad impression on China and they still went to see for themselves. Kudos to those "adventurers." Sadly, after watching the videos, one would easily draw the conclusion that how much straight lies, misinformation and distorted presentations their governments, politicians and media had fed them. Not surprising that the US government wants to ban tiktok in the US now. Why? Because they cannot control tik-tok which is providing more balanced information on the world, such as those happening in Gaaaza. Sad but so true!

    • @YorkshireinManila

Its not balance... its dumb foreigners being paid to promote China... connect the dots and wonder why so many foreigners ( usually under 40 ) are saying China is such a great place. China playing its usual games and gullible westerners falling for it. Truth is there to see when you look .

The amazing thing I find about current day China is they've managed to develop a bustling night time economy. While in the big cities, subways are so convenient and inexpensive, you can go all over the city quite easily. That coupled with the awesome street & building lights as well as the very safe environment makes it a whole new experience very hard to find in western cities. In fact, I find my country so boring now after coming back from recent trip to Shenzhen and Guangzhou.

It's 2024 now, yet the Western perception of China remains woefully inadequate and rather superficial, as if stuck in a time warp. This is not an isolated issue but a pervasive one. Despite hailing from societies that claim to be free, open, and democratic, is China truly as fearsome as it is depicted in the media and on television? The answer is a resounding no. That portrayal is a distorted image of China, deliberately crafted by the Western ruling elite based on ideological grounds. Take, for example, the surveillance cameras in public urban spaces, which are primarily used for maintaining law and order and monitoring traffic. However, they have been disproportionately amplified to be seen as instruments of mass surveillance. Given the unparalleled scale of China's urban centers, it's a challenge that few can fully comprehend. As of 2020, China boasts 18 cities with populations exceeding 10 million and 91 cities with more than 5 million inhabitants, according to official statistics. Managing such vast metropolises is not a task that can be accomplished by human effort alone; it necessitates the assistance of technological solutions for effective governance. Yet, this reality has been misrepresented by Western media, which has long been used to misinform Western populations. If Westerners have not yet come to a correct understanding of China by now, they risk being left behind in the future by the East.

      GOOD NEWS!!
With the US retreating into it's shell, THEY will be repatriating the industry they farmed out to China (Attempting to exploit China)
Since the US power grid is so antiquated, there's little doubt they will be firing up the coal generation to support that industry.
      Result?
China will divert part of the Solar the US won't be importing to their own system, plus reducing the coal generation as that moves back to the US.
Then USA will need a new excuse.
      .
      Just BTW
If you look up the "CO2 per head capita" data, (The TRUE metric) you'll find China way down the list, Below Germany, somewhere around the UK (Which as a benchmark is converting fast, with only about 1% coal) and producing only about 60% compared to the US.

the dish you don't know the name might be 鱼香肉丝饭 fish flavored shredded pork and rice. and shanghai version fish flavored shredded pork is quite different from original sichuan version while it replaces shredded carrot , green pepper, and mushroom in the original recipe with shredded bamboo shoots.

I remember the first time my mother in law left her native former communist country, to come and visit us in the west. She was also totally flappergastet to see this "capitalist" country, they always had told her was totally exploited and near slave like conditions. Not at all what she expected. This couple also have very little travel experience, and are " impressed " by virtually everything that is not knocked over. I wish you the best of luck - there are many surprises for you as you continue being globetrotters.

I wouldn’t say we have little travel experience as we have been travelling around Asia for almost 3 years but yes we will continue to be surprised and impressed when going to new countries, I see nothing wrong with this

@@andyqian1241The homeless people in my country ..".
Yes, who are they: They come in buses from Romania and Bulgaria, sit "homeless" in the streets and beg for money. When they have collected enough, typically 3 weeks, they take the bus back to where they came from, and live there in style for about 3 month - and then everything repeats...
Loads of illegal migrants attempts to enter the country every day, and we feed a lot of them. We are sick and tired of feeding half the world, and now with the EU elections, a lot of people change their vote to have this circus stopped. So much for our "homeless" people...

I'm originally from Shanghai, welcome! The pan-fried buns (called Sheng Jian Bao) are an absolutely iconic dim sum of Shanghai, along with the OG Xiao Long Bao. The rice dish you ordered was probably served with Jiao Bai (Manchurian wild rice) which is usually enjoyed as a vegetable and also quite typical for East China. And the cooking technique is called red braising (with soy sauce). U were pretty lucky to get all the good old traditional stuffs.

@@jasonyeow1650 You are right. Free things are unstable. I also have to create new nodes every two weeks, but fortunately, I wrote the code to obtain the nodes myself, so I don't have to trouble anyone else. It's okay to buy one, a subscription node for around $2 a month, and it's not expensive either
