    41 years old and taking up skateboarding for first time (rode longboards 20 years ago). Did the steps and did a knee high ollie standing still first session. 2 weeks of riding around and I ollied over a pine cone while riding, funny how stoked I was to do something so small but wow it felt great! Thanks Aaron! Just wish there was videos like this when I was a kid.

    Im 35 years old in just over a month (april 12) and ive not been on a board for like 18 years, i just bought my own board a month ago because all you guys at Braille inspired me to pick up the board again, i never learnt any tricks when i was younger due to people making fun of me , i learned how to roll just for the transportation, But seeing Aaron, Nigel, Troy, Gab, Mario, Fetty , Uzi, Aussie dan, Luke , Kelly and especially Lord Kuthulu Carlos really got me wanting more of the board, so i bought my very first complete (my first 2 boards were hand me downs) about a month ago, and since watching these ive learned a stationary ollie, no pop shuvit, i cam flip to casper and back again, ive dropped in my first quarter, I can manual about 1 meter... I absolutely love it, tomorrow i would love to get an ollie while moving, bean plant and maybe a nose slide... Thank you so much Braille you guys are literally my biggest inspiration to get back into this amazing sport, i watch your videos every single day amd im slowly catching up on the 2000+ episodes , id love to post some progress videos i have if thats possible at all... Oh and probably the thing that i thought would be the hardest is untraining my mongo push😂😂😂... I can now ride goofy alot more confidently now... Thanks again... Much love and respect Pedro Vegas

    love your videos but in this (and EVERY other tutorial on ollies ) people forget to tell 1 VERY important extra step you need to think about when actually trying to ollie....
    and that is to not only push down with your back foot, but to actually jump up and lift it as soon as it pops the ground.
    when i first learned skateboarding that was the one thing i kept missing for weeks. it seems obvious since you want to jump so it makes sense to lift your back foot, but while thinking about aaaalll those other steps you simply forget!

      This took me a while when I first started too. I agree that nobody online doing tutorials never seems to actually say this. They almost imply that you *dont* jump, but just say “pop” and to a new kid that sounds like they mean “push down so it makes a noise”!

    I love your videos. I skated a lot around the neighborhood when I was 10 to about 15 years old. I could never ollie well at all and I eventually gave up on skate boarding. Now at 37 I stumbled across your channel and I got my old board out tonight and I squeaked out a few 6 to 8" high ollies within an hour or so. I felt giddy like a kid on Christmas. I learned more in your videos than I did in a few years of skating. It was the shoe slide I was missing. I always tried pop the board up and pick up the front foot to slam the nose down. Wow....thanks for the help. I bought your training videos and I look forward to really learning an old hobby. Thank you!

    BRAILLE HOUSE I am a huge fan and you guys are really awesome. I have been skating 2 weeks ago in my back yard. I have this concrete path way and empty patio with nothing on it(just a concrete floor connected to an apartment). It took me a while to actually learn how to skate board because of school and chores. In about 4 days after I got the board I tried so hard to learn how to skate board and turn and run and land on my skate board I,I'm really comfortable riding it now and it wouldn't have done it without you guys. Now 2 weeks later I'm trying to learn how to Ollie while I did a bunch of school homework and projects.ive been progressing a little slower but y'all are really boosting my confidence and helping me because I fell multiple times and it sucks 😞.Yall are one of the biggest reasons why I get back up and keep on skating and learning from my mistakes.🙂

    Why? I kind of develop a plan everyday (1h allocation):
    * Pushing
    * Turning
    * Tic-tacing
    * Ollie step 1
    Keep helping us and giving us extra advice. It's important to always make us remember the basics (it works with music, and it seems it works like a charm with skateboarding, as well)

    My problem is doing the Ollie while rolling. I have the Ollie down while in a crack I just don't know how to transfer that knowledge into rolling. It scares the heck out of me.

      You won't primo or credit card while doing an Ollie so the fall really isn't that bad. Just tell yourself if you fall, it's not going to hurt much.

      Fall, honestly, just fall. Fall on the ground, it's not going to hurt you that much or cause any significant damage. Might sting a bit, but that's it. Once you fall once and realize there is nothing to it, the fear will be gone.
      Falling in skateboarding happens even to the most experienced professionals and honestly it's good to learn how to fall as well.

    i find the best transition after ollieing with the skater trainers is to then remove two of them on the side where u pop. i found out that i had my center of balance wrong the whole time as i was practicing so when i started popping with free wheels, i would slip out. so then i left the two pieces on the front wheels so i could practice popping with correct balance but still land and not slip out.
    i would ride around for a good long time except the fact that i cant find a good place to do that. if i had that huge parking lot like in the old braille videos, that would be amazing

    I'm 32 yo and started skateboarding about a year ago.
    It took me almost a year of riding and occasional ollie practices to build enough confidence on the board to actually try to ollie over stuff like curbs and drainage pipes.
    Ollie by itself isn't too hard, what's hard is to figure out how board is actually controlled by your feet, imo.
    P.S. SMS helped me a lot, although i haven't progressed too much past step 1. Anyways, ty for great content.

    I agree on the SkaterTrainers. Didn't have them when I first started learning the Ollie. Fell so many times and injured myself a lot (because I'm old). Felt like they just helped build the muscle memory easier and I wasn't so tense and worried about slipping out when I was practicing.

      you need to jump your whole body into the air at the same time as you do the pop. so bend down, pop and jump up, slide your foot up, and then land on the ground. you have to jump your body into the air right when you pop

    Okay so here's the deal: I can pretty much ollie, but my board keeps ending up either completely behind me or it ends up behind my popping foot, the left foot (I skate goofy). I try to place my foot as in the middle as possible but it still seems to pop and then end up behind me so I can't land both my feet on the board. Anything helps. Thanks!!

    Hey man I just wanna say thanks, I’m 14 years old and I thought I was too old to learn how to skateboard because when I get older I’d look like a 16 year old tripping everywhere. But then I learned that 1. You’re never to young or old to skate. And you’re bound to trip anyway. Your videos like these really have helped me, I know how to do a a terrible Ollie in just two days, but I kinda practiced for like eight hours in total to learn how to do a small Ollie. But I just wanna Thank you and want you to know my foundation for learning to skate is gonna be built on you and your videos.
