Watched this video and just landed my first kickflip in probably 20 years since starting skating again at 39 years old. Didn't use skate trainers but watching this inspired me to have a go and after only 30 minutes muscle memory kicked in and I landed it. You're never too old!
I use to skate when i was younger. Lost touch in my 20s, now 32. With muscle memory i can varial heel flip and double kick flip yet here i am 12 years later googling regular kickflips. Thank you for your help.
The only reason to why I need to learn a kickflip, is because the guys at the park be saying: DO A KICKFLIP! Also Tony hawk gives you merch if you land one!
Hi I’m Nate Swyers I’m 27 and live in Missouri. I just wanted to say I love you guys’ videos. Everyone on the Braille team has honestly inspired me to get back into skateboarding. I haven’t been a serious skater since middle school. I’ve literally order two boards and skate trainers to not only relearn the trips I use to know but hopefully learn new ones as well. Keep the love of skating alive. Thanks again
Jack Lachman don’t worry man some people just learn a bit slower, today I landed my first kick flip but my Ollie’s are not exactly the best :D keep trying!
i remember having some struggle with kickflips this past week, and i learned a bunch of things not many tutorials cover too, por example 1- my back foot or front foot didn´t land on the board: i fixed it by jumping a little bit back at the same time i was flickling, that way i forced the board to be there when one of my feet want to land on the ground. 2- nof clickling the board correcly: i used to flick straigh, literally straight, and the board always went flyng ahead of me so i learned to just get my ankle loose and actually flicking (im regular) to the left and as fast as i can (sometimes i dont flick fast enough and i land primo no matter what foot position) 3- board flyng ahead of me: if you mix the little jump back and also balance your body perfectly in the middle of the board and put a little more weight on the pop (like doing a high pop shuv it) by the moment you add the flick the board will kickflip and you will land it without tryng to catch it.

3:45 "Now practice doing what I just told you not to do." The pop is so second nature to you guys that you don't realize that beginners have no idea how you are achieving it. A "How to pop" video would probably benefit a lot of beginners.
Takes time man. Others learn quicker than others, and some people need more time. Just train your legs and positioning to be almost instant and it should come pretty smoothly eventually.
All I can say is thanks Aaron in my most frustrated time skating u said the one thing I needed to hear, if u have confidence u can land it, and then I did
This and andy shrocks channel was the only thing i watched that summer between 5th and 6th grade when i thought i could skate. Glad to see both of you prosper💯
Just got me a board and some trainers. I feel like they help with confidence a lot because most beginners including me slip out easily because of lack of confidence in balance on the board while rolling. Trainers are clutch af.
First Last assuming with attempting a tre flip you need to be pretty advanced/confident anyway. He is only showing the skater trainers as confidence boosters. They gave me the confidence to learn to Ollie, and as soon as I could I took off the trainers to try while rolling.
First Last You're saying i should kickflip while riding? You're just telling me to skip my kickflip while standing. And i agree on skater trainers. They can keep my balance. If i can do a kickflip in my skater trainers, then i could do it without the equipment. But thank you for your suggestion.
What I like to do is take off one skater trainer at a time so then when all of them are off, I'm ready because I knew what it was like with one skater trainer on the nose so I feel more confident than taking off all of then off at the same time
Yeah man, you are awesome! Thanks a lot for these videos, I've been using them for a lot of time. I find it very nice from you to use all resources you have available to teach anyone who wants to learn. You are a real teacher! Greets from Chile.
I'm a goofy stance skater and while I (probably still) can olie over 3-4 decks, 50-50, feeble, crooked grind, board slide, shove-it, drop flights of stairs. I've never succesfully kick flipped. I'm 34 and haven't had a deck in 10 years but now I HAVE to go get one.
I just landed my first kickflip and can now do them every 2-3 attempts. The skater trainers helped a lot because I was learning it without them and it was a struggle, but when I put them back on I learned them quickly. Then I got them without the trainers. The skater trainers help so much aand I recommend them to anyone.
Getting my Ollie's reliable. Will be moving on to kickflips soon! I've longboarded for 5 years so I'm really comfortable on a board, but I've never learned how to skate. I've been wanting to learn since I was young. At 20 I'm finally getting it done. Thank you guys for everything and getting me into real skating! Looking forward to my journey.
I just turned 36 and I skateboarded for a year as a teen. I would spend all day and into the night trying to land a kickflip. I'm so close and the spin looks mint but I keep missing that front foot. I'm going to take this knowledge and land this thing!
Kickflip is the ONE trick I have practiced more than all other tricks combined. I don't know what the deal is with that #¤#¤& trick, but I can loose it and I have to fight really hard to get it back. On the contrary I find heel flip, varial flip, halfcab flip and even bs flip kind of easy. It's one trick that can make me really furious. I am never an angry skater...except when my kickflip disappears! xD
Laberge .. I really don’t believe you that. Specially not on the bs kickflip... on top, check at least what bull you write in the OP. You said you even said that you can do heel flips easy, now you could not land one to save your live? DUuuuuuuDe
You just replied to two different people. It sounds like you don't skateboard much because the OP wrote something that many of us see at real skateparks all the time. You ever play a game of skate where the guy has hardflips on lock but you get him on a pop shuv? That's very much the same thing. Some people are better at tricks than others.
The only thing bull is the idea that everyone struggle with the same stuff when skating. Everyone is different. ;-) For me the flick changes when doing the bs flip vs the kickflip. With the bs flip I flip a little bit more off the side of the board while my flick doing the kickflip is more off the nose, and for me that requires both more force and speed. It's just as Laberge wrote. When I play a game of skate against my friend, he knows he will give me a letter with the treflip because that's easy for him and really hard for me. But I can give him a letter almost everytime with a fs pop shuvit, which is REALLY hard for him, while it's the easiest trick in the book for me. Everyone is different. :-)
When I go to skate I naturally feel more comfortable with my right foot forward but I’m also more comfortable popping with my right foot. What do I do?
I'm relearning my skate as I want to be a good switch skater, I often watch your videos and having good ability already, this should help my switch come quicker thank you. Solid tips!
One thing that greatly helped me was in the beginning I tried doing the flick stuff right away, I got nowhere, so I do an Ollie then do the flick to the upper side, I try to break down the small steps one by one, hopefully after some practice I can get it all in one fluid motion
started skating for the first time since middle school (i’m 19 now) and i already learned how to shove and pop shove in 2 days. can’t seem to get my front and backside 180 but i do believe it’s because my ollie isn’t too consistent and/or great so i gotta work on it some more. the tutorial videos are a great help! keep up the great work, love the videos
Try putting your leg further down the board. That will make it flip faster. The second 'option' is~ Extend your front leg more cuz it's possible it's in the way of the board, and it doesn't allow it to flip
U guys inspired me to start skateboarding. I haven’t even learnt to Ollie yet so I’m considering skate trainers as I’m really nervous about doing it on concrete. I’ve tried grass but I just dig into the ground.😅
This is why I don't like how he said to practice by catching the board with your front foot and not your back. Once you're actually ready to try landing it for real, you've already built up the bad habit of kicking your board out in front and leaning back and landing on your back foot while waiting for the board to rotate, then catching it with your front foot. Practice doing kickflips and catch it with your back foot only. Just make sure you still jump into the air like you were trying to land it. But land with your front foot on the ground, back foot on the board. That will get you used to doing a proper kickflip and will keep your body over the board the whole time.
With your front foot, try flick just befor the nose instead of on the nose, and i reakon it flicks faster, and its easier to land with your front foot.
You're jumping backwards. You got this. People seem to forget but think about this: You're just hitting a piece of wood so that it flips under you. It's not as complicated as people make it to be. Feel your way through the tricks. Dont put them in this super high regard and dont feel like you cant. Its a piece of wood.
Your vids help alot. I'm 51 and just started slating again after 15 years. I mostly like pool riding on my old school Alva board. Bought a new street board and can kick filp. Can only double flip. Single flip won't happen. How can i slow board flip for single?
Bro I used to be like 9 watching your videos I’m 23 now you came up in a ad. Wire time flies. You used to have no facial hair (same lol) now You have gray hairs 🙏🏾
i like you guys are redoing learning tricks. I wouldn't mind more videos like this with different tricks, also some harder ones like tre flip, which im working on right now haha. i think this is one of the best braille kickflip tutorial, because some new information is added to it. keep teaching, or i'll keep preaching
I love you guys, but if someone wants to learn how to kick flip, they can just search up one of the 40 videos you guys made on it. No need to make another one.
Kids, DON'T get skate trainers, they'll only teach you incorrect technique and balance, and then you'll have to learn the trick all over again without 'em. In fact, just stop right now with the stationary kickflips. Same thing, you'll have to go through the whole process when actually riding. Just practice tricks going slow at first, then when you get more consistent, go a little faster every time. Thank me later.
Arno Theadorno I'll thank you never. Skater trainers fo work because it took me a third of the time to get the Ollie down as it did for Arron to get the Ollie down!
Pliiiiiis answer me ❤You inspired me to start skatebording. What kind of skatebord would you recoment for a starter. Am i too old to start skating i'm 14
Funny story. The first time I ever even attempted to skateboard my friends were trying to learn how to kickflip. So I was like hey let me try once after asking a couple times they finally let me try. I landed it the first time and was like this skateboarding thing is super easy. So I went out and bought a skateboard and figured I would be able to anything I wanted without even having to try hard. It turns out it wasn't as easy as I thought and I didn't land another kickflip until the end of the summer.
Hey Aaron, I live in sweden so the winters are really bad. Can't wait til' the snow goes away and I'll start skating. I love the videos, keep up the good work!
Kickflips messed up my one footers as i would kick out and seemed it always flipped my board. So many years where blocks of moves were just not happening, and i came back around to them
Toronto Canada here. I will take all your advice and put it towards learning how to ollie and kick flip. Looking forward to the spring and hitting the skate park down the road from me. I'll keep you posted >;-) Why do I have to be comment 666?!? Rock n Roll
Just wanne say ,I bought myself a skateboard and its really hard ,ive been practicing from like day one to do a kickflip because hoe wouldn't wanne lurn how to kickflip its a key flip ,but ja i struggled and it was really hard and like i was at a point that i thought that i would never land it and then I just went out one day and i started practicing on the gras ,because the gras keeps your board nice and steady and it works perfectly, i really recommend that if you wanne lurn to kickflip, do it on the gras and then just do the exact same thing on pavement, its really that easy, i thought it was impossible but i promise after you land your first kickflip its a graet feeling then its like you get inner motivation and you just wanne go on and get better, i wanne thank braille skateboarding for the videos it really helped, it kept me trying and motivated me not to give up so ja ,i dont expect a response but that would be key and my ig is @machshalbich ;but i just also whant people to know that it's not impossible its only a game of not stopping ....
Alex Reish I didn’t have enough money at first either untill I finally did and got a preowned complete for 65 instead of 95. As soon as you can start saving as it is amazing and I am so glad I started :)

magnus soderbom .. I don’t believe that backside flips are easy for you but kick flips are not .. bull
What do you mean? I can't heelflip to save my life but the leverage on a FS 180 heel makes the trick super easy. Same with a BS Flip.

Your vids help alot. I'm 51 and just started slating again after 15 years. I mostly like pool riding on my old school Alva board. Bought a new street board and can kick filp. Can only double flip. Single flip won't happen. How can i slow board flip for single?
Why can't I just buy a 10 dollar Wal-Mart board and leave the plastic skate stopper on? 😂
Bro I used to be like 9 watching your videos I’m 23 now you came up in a ad. Wire time flies. You used to have no facial hair (same lol) now You have gray hairs 🙏🏾
Welcome back
I wanna see Carlos learn daydream flips on skater trainers
Somehow I already know how to kick flip but this video is still pretty well explained and satisfying to watch how Aaron teaches it.
I would love to try it right now but 2 days ago I had a nail go into my foot so I can’t skateboard for a while :( :(😭😭
Ps. I love your vids
i like you guys are redoing learning tricks. I wouldn't mind more videos like this with different tricks, also some harder ones like tre flip, which im working on right now haha. i think this is one of the best braille kickflip tutorial, because some new information is added to it.
keep teaching, or i'll keep preaching
Damn Aaron is starting to look old but still has one squeaky ass voice
been skating for less than a month and thanks to this dude I already know how to ollie lol
Is there such a thing as too late to start learning? I'm 27
Akeem Romany if there is 27 definitely isnt it. Get started 👍

Thanks for makin this video because it helps me to kickflip
Where's lance tho?
Filming the video
You have inspired me to get back in skateboarding
I love you guys, but if someone wants to learn how to kick flip, they can just search up one of the 40 videos you guys made on it. No need to make another one.

Great material. The free dvd is undownloadable because of a banner covering the page. Alternate download possible? Thanks
*I am Aaron kyro*
You are the best Aaron!
Not the skater trainers
I love this guy so much I go to sleep watching him I love you man
Kids, DON'T get skate trainers, they'll only teach you incorrect technique and balance, and then you'll have to learn the trick all over again without 'em. In fact, just stop right now with the stationary kickflips. Same thing, you'll have to go through the whole process when actually riding. Just practice tricks going slow at first, then when you get more consistent, go a little faster every time. Thank me later.
They’re not always for learning the trick they’re mostly for getting the movements down and gaining confidence on the board
Arno Theadorno I'll thank you never. Skater trainers fo work because it took me a third of the time to get the Ollie down as it did for Arron to get the Ollie down!
IMO it's really hard to get the confidence to be on a moving board by being on one that is stationary. It's a completely different feeling.
THANK YOU!!
Arno Theadorno h
Pliiiiiis answer me ❤You inspired me to start skatebording. What kind of skatebord would you recoment for a starter. Am i too old to start skating i'm 14

Thx for the video! It was you guys that got me into skating and I’ll soon be getting one!
Thank you for this, I've just ordered some skater trainers and I shall be practising the kickflip when they arrive 😀 🛹
Hey Aaron, I live in sweden so the winters are really bad. Can't wait til' the snow goes away and I'll start skating.
I love the videos, keep up the good work!
I'm trying this tomorrow!!
Great video,Thanks a lot!
I’m an intermediate, but always had an issue with big spins (all stances), do you think these would hold up and help me feel the trick?
Kyle McW fakie bigspins are easier than regular. Just lean back and dont forget to turn your body
we always just put back wheels in a crack, but to be honest it was easier/better to learn slowly rolling
can you make another ollie video with skater trainer
I've been trying my ollies for a month or 2 I justcant get the scraping motion down
Rizwan T.V You can do it. Try sliding your foot up immediatly after the pop.
It's been 2 months bru just give up
Yes my skateboard sensei.
i cant ride down curbs or i cant ride/jump down if there is a 15inch curb/stair idk what to call it
Kickflips messed up my one footers as i would kick out and seemed it always flipped my board. So many years where blocks of moves were just not happening, and i came back around to them
Toronto Canada here. I will take all your advice and put it towards learning how to ollie and kick flip.
Looking forward to the spring and hitting the skate park down the road from me. I'll keep you posted >;-)
Why do I have to be comment 666?!?
Thanks Aaron u actually helped me alot
Hey i really love skateboarding but I can't afford a board.What should I do.
Alex Reish I didn’t have enough money at first either untill I finally did and got a preowned complete for 65 instead of 95. As soon as you can start saving as it is amazing and I am so glad I started :)
I’m learning how to kick flip and this is nice
Dude, my friends haven’t even given me this information. I don’t have the kick flip yet but, this information is useful. Thanks
Where did you get that awesome board?!
POKeMONMAsTER it's his pro deck if you look carefully you can see his name at the top
Do you think tight trucks are better? Because whenever I come to learn kickflip my board leans sideways and I loose balance
Can you show different angled slow motion shots? Thanks! Love the videos! I am 32 and started street skating! Keep em coming!
Hello, I have been getting back on a skateboard. My sons tiny skateboard to be exact. Question I’m 6” 170 lbs. my main interest is bowl riding small half pipe maybe and dropping in. What is the best board set up for me. I’m 43 years old if that matters.
yay a new how to kickflip video!!!
