However, due to its high price as almost 8 lakhs on-road in 2012 (Swift VXI was just 5.5 lakhs on-road that time), I have to go for other options.

I still think that if Honda could bring the current global Civic to India it would sell good numbers. I drive a Honda City and was hoping to upgrade to 10th gen Civic when they ceased production in 2020. They make solid cars, really hope that Honda India makes a comeback.
I have 2012 Brio. It is still as smooth as it was on the first day. I just love it. From outside it does look small but interior space is good. Though i agree about small boot.
I’ve been driving Honda since the beginning and I have always been like, “Once a Honda, Always a Honda” but that seems to be changing now. My first car was Brio and boi I still miss that beautiful beast! I upgraded to Honda WRV and this time Diesel. Honda was definitely late with Diesel but they’ve surely made a gem of an Engine. I’ve driven the my WRV for over 150k KMs and have taken two weeks long trip in which the car hardly got rest of a day, the engine is not only reliable but also offers decent punch with excellent fuel efficiency. I recently purchased a city since I wanted a sedan which now stands in top of the line in Honda’s offering. People who already own a city does not have anything to upgrade and the competition has got strong. Honda has already started losing its loyal customers and even I feel, the old Honda charm to be missing. I hope they do something quick which looks uncertain at the moment.

Bro Honda's doing very well in USA and Canada. CRV and Civic sell like maruti sell swift and brezza here. They have the most reliable petrol engine in the world. I've seen a CRV with 7lakhs+kms on it and the owner never had any kind of issues with that car. Honda needs to study the consumer's demand in India. If they will, I'm pretty sure they'll be back in the game in no time. And also they are one of the few brands (in canada and US) which offer ADAS in the base models of their vehicles.
I drive an old Amaze. And it feels better that cars double its cost, the dynamics, steering feedback, engine is superb. But to buy a new car we have no option from honda other than city. They need to make suvs or they will go out of business.
But when it comes to reliability.. I don't think the competition is even close to Honda. I drive 2013 Amaze till now and just got my City delivered today. The overall dynamics and finish is still better than VW siblings. But yes.. if you (majority of people) are not into sedans and want a good hatchback or SUV. Honda literally has nothing to offer.
Owning a city, wrv , brv and also a creta I wud clearly say that Honda is anyday above other cars in its segment the quality fit and finish of old Honda's is still better than new cars in India Pure driving spacious cabins practicality at its best great reliability excellent engines transmissions great body structures awesome suspension setup
I am driving a Honda Jazz for the last 5 years and never had a problem at all. It's the best spacious car in the segment and I felt it's more comfortable in the rear than i20. Infact even the engine is sometimes so silent I have to check the rpm meter to see if it's running.
I have Honda hornet bike from last 8 years and after 3 years COVID break . The bike started on first try of the start . Nothing much to say about their engines !!
Honda ki bikes me bhi yahi problem hai. Koi promotion nahi hai, bas activa ke naam pe chal rahi hai. Bike models competitive nahi aur high end bikes ka promotion tak nahi karte.
JDMs are some of the best machines you can strive to own. I already have a Corolla 9th gen in my garage and would soon get a city/ civic to complete my collection. Just two JDM cars with naturally-aspirated 4 cylinder mils that can be tuned to perfection. Nothing more is needed for the Indian roads, apart from a crossover/ SUV ofcourse :D
I had one too. It failed because it missed out on the features other cars have as standard in the range. And then they wondered what was the problem. Hyundai even has the the N-Line now and these Honda guys don’t even bother with RS versions of a single car other than City.
@Manojkpandey Pandey lmao it's not a ugly car it's quirky and unique doesn't act like a wannabe suv like venue, Nexon etc 🤣😂 reason it failed was due to not offering 1.5 engine with cvt/better automatic transmission no Diesel automatic
I too liked wrv..But I didn't buy it cos it lack features..It's rear seats are terribly featureless..They couldn't even provide good headrests..And after all its on road price is around 14lakha for diesel top variant..I don't know what's wrong with Honda..Apart from that, the car was really a good machine..
I brought WR-V 4 months back … Such excellent car .. Driving comfort… controlling was excellent.., Why people are creating its a failed car .. It’s very super car ., Honda is not fool … Rear AC unit is not there ., but it’s AC blowers are excellent.. No need rear also .. Previous I used Hyundai.. It’s also good … Comparing to Hyundai.. HONDA is excellent
My first ever bought vehicle is a Honda Amaze 1.2 , ivtec . Using it for 3 yrs now , 20k kms done , no issues . Engine is really silent and refined. 4 star safety ratings for a compact sedan . Ample space inside cabin. I really liked the car the honda has made.
Talking about Honda launching product too late.... Honda just launched Elevate whose interior is stuck in 2010s and when other smaller/cheaper cars are offering 360 camera, top model of Elevate doesn't even have front parking sensors
Our family has owned a 2008 city and we recently bought a wrv and it seemed like a good decision considering a balance of safety and refinement, the one complaint I have with honda is that they are yet to launch a turbo engined car in india ,civic and CRV would have done wonders with a 1.5-1.8 turbo engine option as sold in most countries abroad. Even a 3 cylinder 1.0 turbo petrol making around 105-110 hp would have boosted sales for jazz and wrv..they just have to stop relying on i-vtec NA and experiment with turbos
Honda's management is extremely lethargic in decision making unlike Hyundai's management which takes decisions at the speed of light. For example in 2015 Hyundai out of no where suddenly decided to launch Creta in India nd took everyone by surprise including it's competitors. As they somehow sensed the massive opportunity underlying in this segment nd went on to create one of the hottest segment in Indian Car automobile history.
Same issue is with their 2 wheelers , because of activa they are surviving. In bikes except unicorn their other bikes dont sell as compred to bajaj ktm hero.
Heard that Honda Jazz will be stopped by year end. It is the best premium hatchback available in India. Butter-smooth engine, unmatched reliability, longevity of the classic ivtec engine and so much space inside the car. These positives should be highlighted while marketing the great vehicle. It is an international model and is sold in many countries. A legendary car with a long legacy. It is sad for prospective customers if the car is going to be withdrawn from Indian market... They should update the car with rear handrest and adjustable headrests and market it well instead of pulling it out of the market.
i can surely validate ur video with my experience. i have owned a honda for more than 2 decades. My first car was Honda city type1 1.5 cc petrol. that can was so dependable that we drove it for 3 lac kms. Since i was so used to Honda, i bought my second car which was also Honda city idtec. Driving it till today crossed 1.5 lac kms on my SV model. But experience in diesel was very different. Car is noisy but it gives the best mileage in its class for 23 kmpl. It lacks the punchiness of VW or skoda, but travels 600 kms of 35 litres fuel. Honda cars had one thing always better than the market, better cabin space! But unfortunately their design language has not been upgraded since 2015. Plus in diesel they use the same engine in all cars Amaze, WRv, City or mobilo. Hence all Honda cars feels the same while driving. Where as the taste of indians has improved with demand for better performance in car engine. but honda always made better mileage cars over better performance cars. honda has taken way to long to upgrade its portfolio. Unfortunately they could not match the standards they made in Petrol engines with the current diesel ones. Honda is the best brand in the Sedan segment cars. but there is no new product from them in this segment which holds any aspirational value today. I dearly wish honda could reinvent itself as after toyota, honda is the only dependable brand in the car industry.
The 1st Generation HONDA CITY was My Favourite, I am talking about the 1st Model shown in the Video, Broad Lights of this CITY was Beautifull...After this all CITY's were Aive Aive except the Second Last Generation...
7000 units with only sedans is decent & also City is selling more than any other sedan above ₹12 lakh. If they bring a good alternative for Seltos/Creta their future is secured in India.
Honda should target Innova...as it has the reliability closer to Toyota than other brands.....only one model that target taxis would be enough to change the direction.

One of the major problems of Honda is that they don’t have selling units in more tier 2 cities unlike so servicing of car is most difficult part. I am playing in a tier 2 city in Odisha and for every service I have had to go 500 kilometres to Bhubaneswar , which is expensive and tiring and have to spare 3 days for this. This is one of the reasons that people don’t go for Honda.

It's still smooth, powerful, well refined and without any major problem.... hence, it is difficult to let it go... Waiting to buy a good compact hybrid SUV. Unfortunately, most current mid-size SUV keep running into issues... Also, if I buy an SUV, I need more power... not a Sedan Engine... But service on my Honda City so BAD. Most parts now cost 3 times as much as the new Honda City. And Honda Service Centres are the worst now a days...
I have had a honda City for 9 years and never regretted once. Reliability, stability and after sales service is top notch.. in-fact honda vehicles especially City has the best resale value in their respective segment..
& that is also fading now see their market cap & share price also their sales comparison honda is now a slowest company who is now just copying volvo & range rover design
Everything was really great! But you should have talked about the amaze facelift because there mostly honda made a huge impact, people considered for the first time amaze over swift dzire!
i personally own a 2019 diesel amaze...i love it..esepcially the comfort, mileage and dynamics...but now i want to upgrade to an automatic SUV..would have loved to buy a honda suv, even if it would have been costlier than seltos or brezza...cant wait any longer..settled for new ScorpioN...
10 years ago Honda city used to be the cheapest Honda on sale. Now it is the most expensive And the civic that has cult status, it's face-lift was launched automatic only
Another reason is "Arrogance". They consider themselves as a premium brand but globally they are known to be an affordable brand. This arrogance of charging premium & not keeping the product portfolio up to date is the reason of its ultimate downfall in India.... I am sure the future compact SUV will share the same fate & incur further losses for HONDA. Other brands are way ahead in this segment with much mature product lineup. Honda is still sleeping... It pains to write this being a Honda City owner....
my dad's honda city 2010 at 1.5 lakhs kms still works so well. it has made me love city in general considering how well the services and everything else is.
I had buy Honda Amaze and I am fully satisfied with the engine performance, interior comfort . first I thought for buying altroz because of it's built quality and 5 star rating but because of 3 cylinder engine I had cancel for buying it
We bought Amaze 2019 (just before covid), it was a CVT and god i say such a wonderful car it was. Unfortunately, had to sell it last year. Still hurts coz itna sentimental value hogaya that in very less time.
Major problem with Honda India is spare parts. Once I need to replace my honda Jazz exhaust system I was not able to find it any where in Hyderabad. The dealer had to order it and it took 1 week. They should make the parts available in auto shops
Have had a honda from over a decade now but as the vehicle gets old seem to understand the reason of the decline. The parts and maintenance costs have skyrocketed in the past few years for the vehicle, when the vehicle was comparatively new it didn't need any parts or had any issues but with miles on the odo the issues started and now I understand why the brand doesn't seem to perform. No spares available outside the showroom and no showrooms in tier 3 cities. The brand simply doesn't sell its spares.
I owned a honda city sv diesel from 2014-21 put put 98thousand kilometers on it, it was my first car but apart from the low roofline at rear and low groundclearance & also noisy engine I had 0 complaints with the car mechanically or otherwise, that thing was one of the most reliable & amazingly fuel efficient car honda made. Too bad honda has now pretty much lost its charm today
Own a ivtec 2009 model. But Poor transmission options like giving the civic with a cvt and without a manual and not bringing good models . There should have at least had torque convertors in their automatic ,Plus no marketing strategy has made honda stay at the bottom of the rung
Honda should hv just 2 models in India. City & Civic. ( + A compact SUV perhaps) They should not hv bothered with the upper or lower segments. I can bet my ass that they would hv succeeded in making money. Their market understanding of India was lacking. Pity, because their product is really good. My Honda city 2008 is still running superbly in 2022.
I owned Honda City for 10 and half years. It’s really an amazing car. Waited for an SUV from Honda and got the first car of newly launched Elevate from my dealer on the first day of launch. It’s lovely. Fantastic driving experience on Road. Engine is same noiseless ivtec engine as in city. Space management is best in segment. Even after pushing the driver seat to the rear most possible, rear passengers get ample space. Best in segment boot space and ground clearance. I am immensely enjoying it.
They need to Re introduce the SUVs and similar models with a good thrust and plan to revive themselves. I've always had immense respect for honda and their finnese but the reason that comes to my mind is because of it's lethargic model introduction and very slow r&D implementation ( Which should've not been an issue as Honda is a global titan with established supply chains )

But they did give good cars like koleos, x-trail, teana, kicks, captur right? Which was a good car but sadly those days people cared only for low budget cars and not such flagship cars.
Well now anyway Nissan-renault have improved the overall quality of cars from recent times and improving.
Nissan and Renault engines were reliable but their gearbox sucked and the build quality too and the cost cutting on the interiors were so much.

I still think that if Honda could bring the current global Civic to India it would sell good numbers. I drive a Honda City and was hoping to upgrade to 10th gen Civic when they ceased production in 2020. They make solid cars, really hope that Honda India makes a comeback.
No, it won't.
Only enthusiasts buy a sedan, most people prefer practicality, which is usually better in high set hatchbacks, like the creta.
sadly no, the thing is its TOO expensive for Indian market plus 28% cess on 4 feet+ cars, sedan market is dying for india

Next year sab badal jaega.. 2 suvs coming..

I had Honda civic 2008 model until 2020 & now using City 2016 model. It is true that their sedan portfolio had some great cars however, they couldn't plan their product launch timing in India.
Congratulations🎉 on 1st Milestone💎.
I really appreciate your work, it's always spot-onn.

I have owned an Amaze Top Variant 4 month's ago. My dream of last some years. Absolutely stunned with its performance and reliability.
Owning a city, wrv , brv and also a creta
I wud clearly say that Honda is anyday above other cars in its segment the quality fit and finish of old Honda's is still better than new cars in India
Pure driving spacious cabins practicality at its best great reliability excellent engines transmissions great body structures awesome suspension setup
I am driving a Honda Jazz for the last 5 years and never had a problem at all. It's the best spacious car in the segment and I felt it's more comfortable in the rear than i20. Infact even the engine is sometimes so silent I have to check the rpm meter to see if it's running.
Appreciate your work🙏
I have Honda hornet bike from last 8 years and after 3 years COVID break . The bike started on first try of the start . Nothing much to say about their engines !!
Honda ki bikes me bhi yahi problem hai. Koi promotion nahi hai, bas activa ke naam pe chal rahi hai. Bike models competitive nahi aur high end bikes ka promotion tak nahi karte.
Right i like hero bike
I still have my honda City 2010. Drives and handles like a dream. Sports car feeling on budget.

Very nice… expecting you will publish more such well researched videos ❤
I really loved their WR-V. Sad that it failed 😞
I had one too. It failed because it missed out on the features other cars have as standard in the range. And then they wondered what was the problem. Hyundai even has the the N-Line now and these Honda guys don’t even bother with RS versions of a single car other than City.
It failed because honda has not left any chance to make it look ugly
@Manojkpandey Pandey lmao
it's not a ugly car
it's quirky and unique
doesn't act like a wannabe suv like venue, Nexon etc 🤣😂
reason it failed was due to not offering 1.5 engine with cvt/better automatic transmission
no Diesel automatic
What about mileage
Is it good to use with cng
Turbocharged engines are good, but the draw back is that they have a limited life.
Bro I have a cycle and I think it is equipped with a TAKATA airbag. Should I replace it?
Honda's management is extremely lethargic in decision making unlike Hyundai's management which takes decisions at the speed of light. For example in 2015 Hyundai out of no where suddenly decided to launch Creta in India nd took everyone by surprise including it's competitors. As they somehow sensed the massive opportunity underlying in this segment nd went on to create one of the hottest segment in Indian Car automobile history.
It was Duster in 2012 that introduced the Compact SUV segment, then came EcoSport in 2013. Creta was launched in 2015.
Same issue is with their 2 wheelers , because of activa they are surviving. In bikes except unicorn their other bikes dont sell as compred to bajaj ktm hero.
Hopefully elevate can turn things around
great video. Now, after launching Elevate, what is the condition of the company?
😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡💪💪

Beautifully Explained. I Really Love The 5th Gen City

I own Honda Amaze 2014 i-DTEC !! The diesel engine makes a lot of noise. But the car still runs like new.
I still have Honda Jazz-X 2011 variant.. it still does 190 kmph (indicated. On GPS it shows 181 kmph). Mileage is around 13 kmpl.
Let’s all get together and stop calling any front wheel drive as high performance
I drive my dad's 2005 honda city still it runs very smooth and is very stable easily it goes up to 120-140 kmph and is very fun to drive

I owned a honda city sv diesel from 2014-21 put put 98thousand kilometers on it, it was my first car but apart from the low roofline at rear and low groundclearance & also noisy engine
I had 0 complaints with the car mechanically or otherwise, that thing was one of the most reliable & amazingly fuel efficient car honda made. Too bad honda has now pretty much lost its charm today
What was your city and highway mileage?
I feel you need to ad more details ❤️ I like your channel 👌🏼
