I started crying when you said you make these for hospice patients. Thank you so much for what you do. I’m sure that means so much to them and their family to know someone cares and is thinking about them and wants them to feel loved. Thank you so much. Your channel is amazing, you’re so clear and concise with your directions and you sound like such a sweet person. I just felt like saying that to you. Everyone needs to hear that their efforts are being appreciated and recognized and I can tell you’re a very sweet person. Thank you for these amazing videos. ❤❤❤❤
Thanks for this great idea. I just made it for a dear friend today. I found that if you do the cuts not so high up it lays flatter. instead of folding it in half to do the cut, fold to a third, and then it didn't tend to curl in quite so much. Thanks again. I will definitely do this again. Definitely will do it for donations!!!!!
I have never made a fleece blanket before (or any type of blanket). After watching your video of making this No-Sew Fleece Blanket with a Braided Edge I am encouraged about seeing how easy it is to make. I really like the look of the braided edge better than the tied edge fleece blankets. Thank you so much for making and sharing this how-to video. At 70 years of age I think I am ready to make my first braided edge fleece blanket.
@@CutesyCrafts Thank you! I recently bought some very sharp fabric scissors so I should be good to go. Although, I still need to pick out the fabrics for both sides of the blanket.
I’ve found a good rule of thumb for blanket size is two yards for an adult, one and a half for kids, and a baby blanket is one yard. If you have a really tall adult I do 2 1/2.
My mom got addicted to making no sew blankets, so this was a massive help! Just finished making one for a baby shower gift and I love the way it came out! I've made a couple before from watching your video and they always come out fantastic. You make it very simple to understand and I thank you for that!
Thanks for the great video. I love how my blanket turned out. I did change the way I braided it by twisting every other strip on the right 180 degrees before inserting the strips on the left so that my braid shows both the front and back colors equally. It tied the two sides together... literally and aesthetically!
Pieced together two fleece blankets that are my son’s favorites but are now too small for him using this no-sew braiding... just in time before his move to university campus as a freshman.. Thanks so much!
thank you so much for this. I just made a scarf and two bleacher cushions (large 2 person blanket is next) for the hockey rink in my son's team colors. I did however, round off the edges of the tabs instead of leaving them square and it gave it a more polished look.
My sister in law showed me how to make my 1st no sew blanket years ago, & she helped me make my square templates for each corner, she has since passed 😥away at the young age of 42 and I no longer know where my little squares pieces are, so I decided to watch a video on making another one , boy was I surprised when I saw the new ways of making them , I think this is my favorite way. it's for 2 young boys, their fav sports teams, I think they will like this better than having the extra pieces hanging out. Thanks for sharing.
I just watched both of your videos (tied and braided). So cute and easy to do. I have made several of these fleece blankets for my grandchildren and am always looking for new ideas! I love the braided ege. Thanks so much!
I have been making the tie blankets for a while so its nice to have a new alternative with the braids ^_^ Been getting back into making no sew blankets and I'm sure excited to give this a try!
I think the blanket looks great. I have done many blankets in different ways from the squares where you make a rag blanket where you snip the squares after you sew them all together, and I've done the tide blanket and I'm going to have a go at the one you've done. Thank you very much for sharing this great video because you explained it very well
Trying to learn new ways to make blankets, I love your video. Going to try it today. I am very crafty. I crochet, embroider, sew, and do plastic canvas. I love the idea of a no sew blanket because I can take it with me when I am not home to work on it. Keep making the awesome videos.
Thank you so much for sharing I have made the not blanket in the past your braided edge looks real pretty I will try that style next. Making the blanket was real relaxing for me.
Thank you so much for sharing this technique! I’ve made the tie blankets many times over the years, but the last time I made one, my fingers cramped so bad I could barely finish. I was hoping to find another way to make these wonderful blankets, so again, thank you for this wonderful tutorial!! 🥰
So I've been making these for the last few years as gifts, you video is very informative, about 2 weeks ago I had an idea to do it inverted... just wanted some feedback if anyone has tried it. My mom is very proficient on a sewing machine and I grew up learning how to stich my own clothes lol things most men aren't taught now days, but the idea just came to me. Pillows get sewn inside out, we're doing no sew blankets and this style is no tie as well, I'm gonna try it to see what happens but I'm just looking for not so much guidance but if the idea seems "normal"
simplest best explanation of a braided edge - thank you so much for taking the time to record this! It makes a tied fleece blanket just a cut above all the others - like you cared a little more. Happy holidays! Have to check out the rest of your channel!
I have a tied edge blanket that was gifted to me and the knots always feel hard and unwelcoming. This looks like it will feel softer, so I’m going to try it for the one I’m making for myself
@@jessicastrong6006 I measured the pillow I wanted, then added 1.5" to all 4 sides (for the braid). I cut out the 4 squares on each corner and cut 1.5" strips. I started braiding 2 sides and then I inserted the pillow, and completed the braid.
Would like to know if the braided edge is softer than the tied edge? I know it doesn’t feel great when the tied edge gets under you and it is very uncomfortable with that knot. Is the braided edge more comfortable when it is underneath you? Doing the braided edge also doesn’t waist as much of your fabric with cutting only 2 inches instead of 5 inches. Great demonstration and very well explained. Thank you!
I tried the braided edge, it didn't come out good, my daughter & myself. Just need more practice, I like the braided edge better than the fringe 👍🌈💖🕊️🙏🌴
Do you cut off the corners/ edges off that stick out ? Because sometimes it looks messy, even when it's done right. We had parts of the blanket done right, but still a little rough.
Yes it does, Krista. I made a very large one for my husband and washed it many times. It stays together and gets fluffy and softer. Just make sure when you finish the blanket you sew together the end pieces. At that point that is where I add a homemade with love tag…no one sees the sew point can gift it as well 🙂
I’ll have to try this, my son who’s going to be 1 year in October tends to stick the fleece of the knitted ends into his mouth and gags on them so I’ve been trying to find a way to make an easy fleece blanket without the loose frilly! Thanks :)
I love the way you did this braid, and it looked so good on my new blanket 😍, and I was wondering do you have a video out there of how to make do some cool stuff with yarn or string that I can do with my baby sister?
Such a good idea !!! Esp with NFL fleece fabric 🤍 super easy idea Gonna do this for Bears and Cowboys using navy and orange for the other side. thank you !!
Thanks so much for sharing this tutorial! It was easy to follow and my blanket turned out beautiful! So much better than the ones I tied previously. Going to make a second one and take them to California to my little grandsons next week!
I have a question for you...I was working with my dominant , injured right hand. I cut my slits a little larger than I would have like. Is there anything you would suggest for me to do so that the blanket will not come apart when washed? I loved the video. Just mad about my injury. Needed to struggle through the process. It is a gift for my mom! Just worried😏❤️
I love the braided finish and have completed the edges. I can’t seem to separate the two pieces to tuck the knot. Any suggestions? Perhaps a braided too tightly?
No, you can only use fabric that won't fray when cut. So far I've tried fleece and minky. Knit jersey fabric also doesn't fray, but I haven't tried that yet.
Yes, as long as you have some sharp scissors. I was just being extra careful. I made another one with my sister, and we cut through both layers at once. It was fine.
You can. I just worried that they wouldn't line up. If they are close enough, it should be fine though. Clip a little closer to the end of the fringe for a neater looking "braid."
Ashley Stevens I thought so too. And why wouldn't it line up right? The edges are a little messy anyway and I also think it would be neat to stuff it somehow. especially stuff it to make pillows or a dog bed
The only part that has a knot is the end, and I haven't had any trouble washing or drying. Make sure you don't put the slits too close to the end of the tabs, and you should be fine.
It just depends on what you want the braid to look like. If you cut the fringe longer, then there will be bigger loops on the edges of the blanket. I use longer ones for when I'm tying a blanket rather than using this braid method.
My daughter & I tried this, but it came out looking so messy on the edge.with a lot of pieces sticking out. I'm not sure how to fix it, other than cuting that part off & just sew around the edges. ?

The amount is for each side of blanket
Agreed that sounds like what I found some9 years ago.
@ Brittany 1 yard for a baby ? Like 1 yard each way ?
