  • Marella Agnelli
One of the last great swans
    1927-2019
"The Agnelli look was about ease, grace and never trying too hard. Like the dinner party just happened without any planning."
    "Was he vain?
    He invented it."
"He had the view of Aristotle - where goodness and beauty overlap."
Three quotes that sum up Gianni Agnelli and la dolce vita.
This video is part 2 of the HBO documentary Agnelli (2017).
Genuine style is both timeless and priceless, it is innate and money (though not necessary to have flair) in the hands of Agnelli made his life shine so brightly that the whole world was lit up.

The Three Graces - Elegance, Beauty and Style.

What a great documentary. Love the guy's comment, "the worst part was stepping back into your own life" referencing what it was like to be around Gianni.

Unfortunately everything has changed. Glad, I still experienced some glamour of those days. St. Trop was exciting, Monaco absolutely beautiful, today it’s a concrete jungle and class + chic has made place for greed + vulgarity.

Thank you so much for posting this superb film of an extraordinary individual. Full of larger-than-life mortals. Agnelli's sister (Clara) had her own charisma. Italians are a breed apart.

You need to know the following to understand Agnelli's connection with Pamela. Pamela Digby Churchill had started as Debutante of the Year because of her liveliness and free spirit. She was extremely well-connected to the UK and USA government through her love affair with Harriman, US war ambassador to the UK, and being the confidante of Winston Churchill Sr. during the war. She came out of the war with a child called Winston Churchill Jr.. When someone invited her and said "You may bring Winston," she would ask "Which one?" and Agnelli and others would love to say, "Oh well, bring them both." :-) (Churchill had been jobless right after the war ended.)

From the greatest powerful men in the world '' Prince Gianni Agnelli '' has been for 50 years the true icon of the World Dolce Vita
Wherever he had a party, you could find all of the Italian monarchy with a French monarchy who have always married each other, the oldest monarchies in the world and the greatest men in the world, including the nobility of the Vatican city.
Even today his style is copied by the greatest men, the typical Italian man, crazy for cars and women, the two things he loved after his factories around the world
Now there is no longer a true Icon like that of the Lawyer Gianni Agnelli, an encyclopedia of real fun and true Italian style '' the sweet life '' Even Jackye Kennedy wanted Gianni Agnelli, but he after some night outings, told her to come back from poor copy photo of Giagni Agnelli '' Onassis ''
Onassis had a terror of the simplicity of Gianni Agnelli and his infinite taste of the art of knowing how to speak more than 6 languages correctly, which Onassis was a wealthy entrepreneur who grew up after the great war in gracia
Onassis knew that it was impossible to be an Italian with their crazy and sweet style

Does anyone know if this man's life was the inspiration or a source of inspiration Paolo Sorrentino drew from in writing the script for La Grande Bellezza?

    • @tommasovasta8567

Miguel Clarke No. Who has inspired the Sorrentino's character Gep Gambardella was Raffaele "Dudù" La Capria, a fine neapolitan novelist, famous for having written a beautiful and decadent novel titled 'Ferito a morte' (1961), set between Rome, Naples and Positano. I advise to read it warmly.
