Stephen represents the best of one aspect of British culture. He is a polymath, scrupulously courteous, never unkind, brave, fair and just a great human being
He's not just a highly successful actor, comedian and tv host, he's also a highly succesful writer, novelist, playwright, debater and maker of documentaries. He also campaigns consistently on a whole range of issues, particularly issues of equality, free speech and mental health. He's also a marvelous raconteur and wit, of course. :)
Honestly.. you are the absolute best reaction channel I’ve seen.. unlike others, you don’t interfere with the dialogue every 3 seconds.. and when you actually have something to say.. it’s always perfect timing and profound. Thanks for being the only reaction channel that I can tolerate
Stephen is regularly the most erudite and well informed person in any group, so it's a delight to watch the ease with which he unintentionally dominates any group in which he finds himself. The video where he shows off his talent for mimicking accents is particularly entertaining and very funny.
Yes. He speaks so well, it's hard to believe he couldn't say "Harry pocketed it" He knows lots of actors who could have given him some speech training.
I am SO glad to see another American who appreciates The Graham Norton Show! British humor is so much fun and this show is nothing like any of our shows in the U.S. I discovered his show during the pandemic and I watch them over and over! Well done you!
We love to see the reruns of when he was the moderator for QI. His talents shined marvelously as well as trying to keep the very smart and even better comedians in rein. As much as we love British humor some detective shows on BritBox can be too serious. That's when QI gives you the interesting facts that the comedians seldom get correct. But, the comedy is sorely needed and we truly love the show.
Our lovely Stephen. He’s such a warm lovely human being . His intelligence blows my mind. I could sit and listen to him all day talking on different subjects. His stories are unbelievable and so funny. 😁
I'm so happy you like and appreciate Stephen Fry so much. He really is amazing. I've been a huge fan for years and I still find things he's in or has done that I never even knew about. Seems like he can do just about anything and do it damn well aha
Yes Stephen has written four novels, including Making History about an alternative world where Hitler wasn't born, three autobiographies and of late he has been writing about the Myths of Ancient Greece. Lots of Audio books, he has also done all the Sherlock Holmes stories. He adapted and wrote the excellent film Bright Young Things and played the detective in the brilliant Gosforth Park though his biggest film role was as Oscar Wilde in Wilde. On TV he has done lots, the best thing you haven't looked at is Jeeves and Wooster where he played the servant to Hugh Laurie.
Apparently, he also voice-recorded the entire Harry Potter series, which I would like to hear some day. I have a different spoken-version, that my children listened to on our road trips to British Columbia and to Ontario, but I would enjoy listening to Stephen's version on my next road-trip across Canada!
Stephen Fry had a mental breakdown 20 odd years ago. He really impressed me at my brothers graduation Stephens first time back was at Dundee University he had 3 days of shaking hands. He was amazing because there was a lot of hoha in the paper at the time because he had gone missing, so turning up at Dundee was fantastic.
11:02 the reference to “Rory” is Rory Bremner, a famous impressionist. It would be plausible to think that Rory Bremner would telephone somebody doing an impression as a practical joke.
You mentioned books Stephen has written. A series I love is his retelling of Greek mythology. The books are Mythos, Heroes and Troy. All are wonderful and best of all the audiobooks are narrated by the author himself.
Lee Mac’s story on the Graham Norton show in front of other guests (including John Cleese) of his drunken performance on stage is one of the best and funniest stories that you will ever hear!
So pleased you have discovered and admire Stephen Fry.... he has always been one of my favourite people to listen to...so finding a conversation between him and Graham Norton is 'gold' 👌
Just to fill you in, in case it went over your head, when Stephen Fry mentioned Princess Diana wanted to watch Spitting Image. It’s a parody show with puppets resembling real people in politics or popular culture, but with super exaggerated features about them. The funny thing about it is that they often parodied the Royal Family in episodes, so when she says “I’m going to watch it tonight in my room, they all hate it, I love it” says a lot about the person Diana was.
Stephen is EVERYTHING! He is also the voice of the audio books, Harry Potter. Highly intelligent, he recovered a book someone had written and her computer turned it into Hieroglyphic’s
On fire with your reaction this morning Joel. Like you said Stephen Fry is brilliant in the two Blackadder series you've watched on your Patreon. The man's versatility is almost overwhelming.
I remember watching the Charles and Diana story a while back, and it was just around the time the season when Diana is introduced into The Crown had been released I think, and they very accurately portray just how much everyone was in awe of her everywhere, so your reaction to "and then Princess Diana comes out of the shadows" is very much my own when I first watched this too. Like "damn, you got to see Diana at her peak". I just love how everyone these days even, 20+ years after her passing, still feel that collective "wow" moment whenever stories like these are brought up
Recently the BBC has been re-showing episodes of “A Bit of Fry and Laurie” (first broadcast in 1989) a series of comedy sketches by Stephen Fry and Hugh Laurie. Watching them again reminds me of how innovative and groundbreaking they were. - in the style of Monty Python and the Goons.
Stephen Fry is, among his many attributes, a singularly wonderful story-teller! He just engages our attention and holds us in the palm of his hand while he tells his tales. And Graham Norton's off-hand comment about many Vicars agreeing with Stephen is nearer to the truth than some would find comfortable. Also, I think Graham did play a very young priest in an Irish TV series, so he himself might have some insight into the profession!
This is the fun side of Fry the intellectual marvel. There’s a bunch of great Fry video on UA-cam talking with the phenomenal personality Christopher Hitchens.
I was at a posh awards show - Stephen was on my table, and the Heasrtstopper lads came over for some pics with Stephen, I should never be star struck at my age but for a moment I was in Heaven ;)
Stephen Fry’s biography is brilliant. His grandfather came to the UK from Hungary to Bury St Edmunds to set up a sugar beet factory there. Which dominates the skyline.
Stephen Fry is truly an extraordinary human being. Not only does he have a voice and a way with words that can keep you enthralled for hours to listen to, he has such a quick wit, intellect and open mind.
JP you need to see if you can find Jeeves and Wooster, made in the 1990s I think, where Stephen plays the butler Jeeves, and his friend and colleague Hugh Laurie. It was a brilliant adaptation
I love his book that is written by his' secret wife ' Mrs fry .she is absolutely oblivious of his true identity and how famous he is, she is just gos on about all their children and normal everyday things. It's brilliant and so bloody funny.
Nice reaction as always! I would recommend the tv show "Jeeves and Wooster" from the early 90s, starring Stephen Fry and Hugh Laurie. Keep up the good work!
Stephen Fry was friends with Douglas Adams (Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy) Adams wrote a book about endangered animals, Last Chance to See. Adams died and Fry did a documentary about these animals with naturalist Mark Carwadine in 2009. I recommend the series. One of the things they did was not to fly. They took a 3 week voyage from New Zealand to Brazil. During that time, Fry had a Portuguese dictionary and taught himself to speak Portuguese in 3 weeks. MIND BLOWN. 🤯
Yes! Another 'American Reacts' channel. So original. Cannot believe it has been done 28 million times before!!! Thank you!!! Yo guys, what is going on!
I love Stephen! You must read his books. He has led a very interesting life that you wouldn't think of looking at him now. From his time as a teacher to his time in prison (yes prison!) He is a fascinating and hilarious writer and man!
I love Stephen for many reasons but mainly for speaking out about his struggles with mental health. He has bipolar like me and assured me, at a very difficult time with his documentary on it that you can be successful and a wonderful human being even with mental health challenges. I'll be forever grateful 🥰
Graham Norton and Stephen Fry together are just a joy. Two witty warm people who are perfect together, and unlike US talk show hosts, Graham doesn't interrupt his guests, so people like Stephen Fry and Miriam Margolyes get to tell their full stories.
Hi. As mentioned in comments he is a prolific author. Read 'Moab Is My Washpot', memoirs of his childhood, his teen years including going to jail (seriously he did). It is witty, a joy to read.
Check out his booklist. He's a prolific writer, genius scholar. I had a couple of his books signed in Heffers Bookshop in Cambridge where I live. I loved the interview he had with Jordan Peterson who begins every talk he gives by telling everyone how very clever he is. Fry is the opposite, ever humble, and gently breaks down Peterson's word salad. Peterson's reaction, when he realises he has met more than his match, is brilliant. Love Stephen.
Since you like both Stephen Fry AND Hugh Laurie, I'd suggest watching "Jeeves And Wooster." UA-cam has several clips of Laurie (as Bertie Wooster) playing piano and Fry (Jeeves, the butler) trying to be nice with his comments. It was a brilliant series. Also, I still advocate you watch "Beyond the Fringe," an early '60s comedy revue with Alan Bennett, Dudley Moore, Peter Cook, and Jonathan Miller. It launched the careers of all four. And if you don't have time to watch the entire show, you must at least watch "The Great Train Robbery," one of the most brilliant word play sketches ever written (Bennett) and performed (Cook and Bennett).
I love anything read by Stephen Fry. I listened to TROY last night! He's very interesting, but like David Attenborough, they both have very soporific voices 😂
Stephen Fry sends a Christmas present to Prince Charles and one particular year sent him a very expensive coffee. The coffee bean that it is made from is gathered from the floor after fishing it out of the poo of a Civet cat. Its called Kopi Luwak coffee.
He was totally brilliant in QI, and Blackadder! 💟👍 He also did a show as a Solicitor on an Island, I can't remember the name of it! 🤔 Great voice and articulation! 😄 Posh Spice! 😆 That's true, Vicky and Albert were very playful in private! 😂 Poor Charles! 😩 Nothing is sacred, imagine a dinner party with him! 😟 Don't let him write a tell-all book! 😳 He is Scary! 😆 (Australian Comedian, Jimmy Rees? He does skits about Aussie States on youtube! 😄)
I believe Stephen Fry has written many, many books. He is a polymath, despite the fact that he said he wasn’t good at anything at school, this is clearly not true. He is able to retain many different options and arguments and his use of language is second to none. He has a superb sense of humour and many of us do just love him.
Not sure if anyone's explained this yet, but Spitting Image, it was an old 90's show, with somewhat creepy puppets that look like famous and well known people like actors, politicians etc, and it was an amazing satire show, taking the piss out of the stupidity of politicians mostly lol
Try to get the audio series of Harry Potter from the U.K.. Stephen Fry is the narrator and I hear they are delightful! I wish I could get the series from him.
Stephen represents the best of one aspect of British culture. He is a polymath, scrupulously courteous, never unkind, brave, fair and just a great human being
Amen..I often wonder how much better the world would be if we were all just a bit:better educated and kinder.
Yep , a true legend. On so many levels. 🇬🇧🫂🇺🇸
@@fnutboy No conservative would ever be elected again.
Absolutely 💯
Totally agree ❤
He's not just a highly successful actor, comedian and tv host, he's also a highly succesful writer, novelist, playwright, debater and maker of documentaries. I absolutely agree with this about Joel's reactions... 👍
Me too.
I appreciate that!
You might also enjoy After Work Reactions, if you don't know it already. He reacts to comedy and doesn't do obnoxious interruptions.
What's not to like about Stephen Fry? Just an incredible Human Being.
Stephen is regularly the most erudite and well informed person in any group, so it's a delight to watch the ease with which he unintentionally dominates any group in which he finds himself. The video where he shows off his talent for mimicking accents is particularly entertaining and very funny.
9:56 This is one of my favourite anecdotes from him. Lady Diana coming by your house is one hell of an anecdote.
Stephen is legend
Stephen Fry is a national treasure.
That phrase is so overused these days but it's absolutely true in Stephen Fry's case.
Yes. He speaks so well, it's hard to believe he couldn't say "Harry pocketed it" He knows lots of actors who could have given him some speech training.
I could listen to Stephen for for hours.
I am SO glad to see another American who appreciates The Graham Norton Show! British humor is so much fun and this show is nothing like any of our shows in the U.S. I discovered his show during the pandemic and I watch them over and over! Well done you!

Our lovely Stephen. He’s such a warm lovely human being . His intelligence blows my mind. I could sit and listen to him all day talking on different subjects. His stories are unbelievable and so funny. 😁
Look how they are engaged. Bodies turned to him. Arms around him. Guys respect is earned and appreciated
I'm so happy you like and appreciate Stephen Fry so much. He really is amazing. I've been a huge fan for years and I still find things he's in or has done that I never even knew about. Seems like he can do just about anything and do it damn well aha

Am so excited to see you doing this critique with Stephen Fry. Love your work mostly on music .
Hi from Australia
You mentioned books Stephen has written. A series I love is his retelling of Greek mythology. The books are Mythos, Heroes and Troy. All are wonderful and best of all the audiobooks are narrated by the author himself.
Lee Mac’s story on the Graham Norton show in front of other guests (including John Cleese) of his drunken performance on stage is one of the best and funniest stories that you will ever hear!
I’m proud to say Stephen Fry touched me and offered me a sweet (candy). We shook hands at a book signing and offered me a celebration from his box
Stephen also writes brilliant books
This was awesome. Stephen Fry is absolutely one of my favourite English actors. Loved him in the series Kingdom as well!!
He's a director at Norwich City Football Club
Well done, enjoyed from Australia
So pleased you have discovered and admire Stephen Fry.... he has always been one of my favourite people to listen to...so finding a conversation between him and Graham Norton is 'gold' 👌
@night owl I had the nickname Margaret Thatcher, from older people in my family. It was changed to Stephanie Fry, which I much prefer.
Not necessarily good. Always trying to stir the pot.
Stephen is EVERYTHING! He is also the voice of the audio books, Harry Potter. Highly intelligent, he recovered a book someone had written and her computer turned it into Hieroglyphic’s

I loved Stephen Fru’s cameo in Heartstopper even though we only hear his voice.
Stephen Fry is such a wonderful man =)
Stephen has written many books, all of them works of art.
Stephen is a fascinating and intriguing intellect.
That show was Father Ted.
Stephen has written many books. Fiction, autobiography and factual.
I discover you during covid. Followed your travels and now sharing a love of SF. Makes the world seem more comfy and nice.
Im going to stephen fry tour in Oz in November. I've always wanted( but wont ask)a hug from him.♡♡♡
Stephen Fry’s biography is brilliant. His grandfather came to the UK from Hungary to Bury St Edmunds to set up a sugar beet factory there. Which dominates the skyline.

Most of all he is an artist. Brilliant!
"Whatever you want to call him"
National treasure at this point ;)

Love how SF totally took over from EJ’s story and made it interesting and funny
Yes! Another 'American Reacts' channel. So original. Cannot believe it has been done 28 million times before!!! Thank you!!!
Yo guys, what is going on!
I think it's been done 29 million times rather. Have a great day and a wonderful weekend Mr. Main! :)
Stephen Fry is a beautiful conversationalist. You could talk to him about anything.
A brilliant reaction. Stephen Fry, one of a kind. Imagine a dinner party with him and Miriam Margolyes......
Yes please!
when stephen talks everyone listen. and there is difference between success and megalomania one asks and one tells
I love Stephen! You must read his books. He has led a very interesting life that you wouldn't think of looking at him now. From his time as a teacher to his time in prison (yes prison!) He is a fascinating and hilarious writer and man!
I loved mythos, I know he's just reading Greek mythology but I loved it
Stephen fry amazingly talented man if I need to chill all I have to do is sit back and watch his videos 👍👍
I love Stephen for many reasons but mainly for speaking out about his struggles with mental health. He has bipolar like me and assured me, at a very difficult time with his documentary on it that you can be successful and a wonderful human being even with mental health challenges. I'll be forever grateful 🥰
He has and will always be at the very top of my "dinner guest wish list".
He was great in Jeeves and Wooster
Graham Norton and Stephen Fry together are just a joy. Two witty warm people who are perfect together, and unlike US talk show hosts, Graham doesn't interrupt his guests, so people like Stephen Fry and Miriam Margolyes get to tell their full stories.
Stephen also reads Sherlock Holmes the Definitive Collection on audible, its brilliant
Lee Mack at the end is amazing too!
Hi. As mentioned in comments he is a prolific author. Read 'Moab Is My Washpot', memoirs of his childhood, his teen years including going to jail (seriously he did). It is witty, a joy to read.

And I hear Stephen's going to be hosting the upcoming British version of Jeopardy; I think he'll do an excellent job.
Big Train! Amazing, challenging sketch comedy from the 90’s I think.
Love Big train
The current King was always friendly with actors like Stephen Fry, Rowan Atkinson and Emma Thompson.
Try watching Stephen in ‘ a little bit of Fry and Laurie’ or ‘Jeeves and Wooster’ really funny old British humour

My dream dinner party would have Stephen Fry and Miriam Margoyles
I love anything read by Stephen Fry. I listened to TROY last night! He's very interesting, but like David Attenborough, they both have very soporific voices 😂
Do reactions to Lee Mack, a very good British comedian, his story telling is phenomenal
He has written many books, and his academic historical books are great
Stephen fry has written quite a few books I loved "the liar"
Joel Just had a Brain Wave English Film about Oscar Wilde Starring Stephen Fry as Oscar it's called Wilde! might be a Friday Night Patreon Film!

There is a lot of controversy about statues, but I really think we need one here in England of Steven
I love Stephen fry, I've grown up with him on my tv making me laugh
Stephen Fry sends a Christmas present to Prince Charles and one particular year sent him a very expensive coffee. The coffee bean that it is made from is gathered from the floor after fishing it out of the poo of a Civet cat. Its called Kopi Luwak coffee.
hahahaha your reaction to that part made my day :D
Hope you don't 'run out of ideas' - this is one of my favourite channels on YT, would hate to see it go!
Your face at the JK Rowling part, lmao
He was totally brilliant in QI, and Blackadder! 💟👍 He also did a show as a Solicitor on an Island, I can't remember the name of it! 🤔 Great voice and articulation! 😄 Posh Spice! 😆 That's true, Vicky and Albert were very playful in private! 😂 Poor Charles! 😩 Nothing is sacred, imagine a dinner party with him! 😟 Don't let him write a tell-all book! 😳 He is Scary! 😆

A true raconteur!
Excellent stuff!
Stephen Fry is our national treasure he is so versatile great Graham Norton clip thank you
I believe Stephen Fry has written many, many books. He is a polymath, despite the fact that he said he wasn’t good at anything at school, this is clearly not true. He is able to retain many different options and arguments and his use of language is second to none. He has a superb sense of humour and many of us do just love him.
Your face with the subject of putting tea in the microwave 😂😂😂 👌🏻
You should see Stephen Fry in America. It's his American roadtrip.
J.K. Rowling is amazing for putting "Harry pocketed it" in each subsequent book. 🤣 Fantastic woman.
Joel, seeing you admire Stephen Fry so much, have you watched the TV series Kingdom. Stephen plays a lawyer in a small coastal town.
Not sure if anyone's explained this yet, but Spitting Image, it was an old 90's show, with somewhat creepy puppets that look like famous and well known people like actors, politicians etc, and it was an amazing satire show, taking the piss out of the stupidity of politicians mostly lol
I love Stephen Fry sooooo much ❤❤❤
Try to get the audio series of Harry Potter from the U.K.. Stephen Fry is the narrator and I hear they are delightful! I wish I could get the series from him.
I enjoyed your reaction, as usual. But you deserve a like for saying you're not a fan of fElon.
Yeah, try doing the Tesla autonomous thing for more than 60 seconds, when it invariably veers off into oncoming traffic.
My favorite Stephen Fry is when he is with his real life best friend Hugh Laurie! They have done loads of different projects together!
He’s a National Treasure
My Fry is also brilliant with accents of all kinds.
Waiting for Mr Fry to be knighted
Check out Jeeves and Wooster. Hue as the upper class twit and Stephen plays the all knowing butler. Written by PG Woodhouse.
04:04-4:12 Hilarious. Your so grounded.
