Sometimes the water was too cold for me. Especially on cloudy days. My skin runs pretty hot so it was quite a shock throwing that dipper of water down my back. But, I can adapt
Whats Up Cal! I been in the Philippines since the 1st of Sept I’m enjoying it here in Cebu I plan on checking out Morning Glory grill this weekend sadly I leave next week but when I visit again I’ll try to come to one of your meet and greets until then take care ✌️
You're not joking about the Red Horse! I am in the US but a Filipina friend of mine bought me a few six packs from an import store. Boy, that stuff will ring your bell, lol. It is really good but it will mess you up if you drink too many!
Sorry to hear, Calvin. I know you had a really great place and a plan for al that. Sig is a wonderful place but you have to go where the family is. That place will go quick alright. Maybe some day things will work out for you there again.
Ground water is not as cold in the tropics. That is probably one of the reasons bum guns are more popular. Trying to use one of those in Chicago in the winter will really wake you up in the morning.
Run a bunch of black pvc pipe on back roof or along wall so sun hits it. All the free hot water you want . no electric or gas needed. You ever turn water on garden hose in summer the first water coming out of the hose will burn you.
You did ya thing bro... Thanks for the insight on going abroad and sharing your experience with us.... Follow your heart and live your purpose with your fam... 💪🏼✌🏼👑👍🏼
While I was amused to hear Boobie is going to be sitting for school exams concurrently with her toilet training, I have to say this video gave me pause Calvin. I seem to recall you saying that the reason you started renting that place in Siquijor was because you realized that living in that house you built in San Carlos City Extension wasn't the life. you came to the Philippines to live. Absolutely no offense intended, but living in a subdivision with a hawkish live-in who feels she needs to keep constant tabs on you because the implication of trust has been shattered and with two young children to boot... That sounds like the life that some of ya'll swore you never go back to, the one in the USA some were so desperate to escape from. How many expats recreate that life they hated in Nowhere Minnesota. Food for thought.
Yes, without transforming oneself, we're 'doomed' to repeat the same pattern, albeit with different people in different surroundings. If you think filipinas are submissive sparrows, think again. They can be quite hawkish when to comes to making demands on your resources. Sometimes my mouth is agape watching simps bend over backwards to take care of responsibilities that were never properly theirs to begin with. I think previous relationships back in their home countries left them badly damaged and wounded, and they bring that over here to be easily fleeced and/or taken advantage of. Sad
Some people are too narcissistic to realize that they’re the problem, and no matter where they go in the world, until they work on themselves, they will always have problems.
Kids grow up quick and need every advantage growing up with a good education. Good decision to do what's right for your family. Thanks for the insightful videos.
Hey buddy. I would take Gladwin's condo, but I have all the places that you have been to, to see. Palawan, Borocay, etc. I'll see you soon at your Meet n Greet. Funny episode with the drunk Aussie.. Tell ChiTown Homie that I say HI.. LOVE YA, BRO..
Bruha Calvin, you have a great family. I'd just like to comend you on that. I personally don't see that level of commitment here in the west. Peace be on to you and your family.✌️😎
Hi Calvin! I really appreciate you sharing your wonderful life in the Visayas. My parents were from Bohol. I have been longing to visit again. I haven't been there since 2006. I'm sure things have changed in Bohol and the rest of the Visayas. I wish I had the opportunity to rent your Siquijor apartment. I always wanted to live by the beach. Again, thanks for sharing your adventures.
With the amount of time that you have invested there I am a little surprised that you are even thinking about leaving doing this. I hope you are not going back to the states.
I went thru the you must bring your child to school . My advice is just don’t home school her . They probably won’t bother you for a couple of years at least . I homeschooled my daughter until she was 13 .
Boobie is planning to start college at 15 Calvin.😂 Curly won't listen unless you speak Bisaya.🐕 Sorry you had to give up the place in Siquijor but family comes first. Enjoy your last week over there.🌞💪🏽🏝️
You've done well Sir. This makes a good teacher. Examples to show. Not just talk. I believe and practice that way of living, now that I'm a senior. I haven't contacted you except when I arrived in Cebu in 4/2023. I for one, have been helped by you back then. But since that time, I have been scammed, robbed, and had a separate altercation and had months dealing with banks in the U.S. I had to borrow money from one of my sisters to pay rent in Lapu-lapu, etc, etc. I wanted seek help. I even thought about calling you. But I tell everyone, especially Christians. That I have a God! And bro. As always. HE rescues me! At one time Calvin, I was checking the cost to go back to the U.S. But I'm still here, PRAISE GOD! NOW, once again, my soul looks back and wonders how i got over! why? Because brother Calvin. I know alone, I'm ill equipped, and I will continue to pray for you all too. Thanks for videos.
Dont blame you a bit. This place is a shell of its former self. The people are horrble. The prices are ridiculously high and traffic gets worse every year. We are planning to exfil ourselves.
Thank you for your videos brother you are keeping me informed and helping me make decision to move there part time permanent or not. I'm commercial fishing I'll still have to run back to Honolulu for guarantee check a time or two a year to make it work. Keep up the good work and enjoy life keep being a good human being
God-bless brother Calvin and keep you safe on your travels my Filipina wife and I will be leaving Cali for Manila hope to see you all at a meetngreet sometime between October 19 and February 10th love your content!!!
CALVIN, I haven't been able to get any of the other Philippine UA-camrs to answer my question... The wife and I are considering the PI as a retirement destination. We will be living off of a little more than $8000 per month. We are hoping to find an oceanfront 2-3 bedroom home, with Western amenities like what I think they call a "Euro kitchen". (Full size appliances, oven, cooktop, dishwasher, etc. Is it possible to find that on our budget, or am I dreaming?
The schools are horrible in the Philippines. That includes most of the private schools. We homeschooled. Until college. Our 13 year old is in his second semester of engineering at the university on a full scholarship. Our youngest is starting college in January, also on full scholarship - and will still be 12. We dedicated our lives to it, they are the youngest students on campus. Philippines finished dead last on the most recent international tests (PISA - program for international student assessment). Being a top school in the Philippines is like being a top skier in Nigeria. You have to take charge personally.
You made me laugh about the Red Horse. I believe it says 6.75% alcohol but what that alcohol is I am not sure. For me it was more like the buzz from tequila. If you lived in Duma then having a beach house in Siquijor would be viable, way too far from San Carlos. And like your bus accident shows, no type of vehicle is safe over there. The family is a priority over the beach. There must be nice beaches around San Carlos??
@@calroach1 I rode a motorbike from Bacolod to Cebu City in one day, the ferry from San Carlos goes right by Sipaway Island. It looked nice but yes, quite small. The rides up and over Negros and Cebu Islands are world class riding. I will ride those roads again.
Good luck Calvin you and your Family keep safe God bless always .enjoy your Journey Best wishes Thank you for amazing video . Bro . 🙏🙏🙏🙏🤙🤜🤛💯✅🇵🇭🇺🇲🍁🇨🇦😎♥️

The lack of options for good schooling in the Philippines will ensure that it remains a 3rd world country. It's almost laughable that they make preschool so important, but also sad that children at such a tender age are pressured to perform. Don't really have a good solution for this.
@@calroach1 could be, but are out of reach for many here. Even public schools can be expensive for the average Filipino with transportation and supplies cost. The teacher at the school my daughter is enrolled in was discussing this with my wife. We're more lucky in that regard. I agree with you though, learning should be fun, especially at that age. I've seen parents being hard on their 3 or 4 year old for not performing. Made me cringe.
Someday I hope to run into you Calvin and just ask you some questions as my "Living the Dream" adventure has only started as I'll be in Dumaguete after the 20th of September til October and then back again in November
