By the time he said “Its too late for me” the 3rd or 4th time with that deadpan expression, I was doubled over laughing. This reminds of some comic routine, but I cannot put my finger on who used to use this style of humor. Much appreciated bro!
Yea, it does sound familiar 😂
IKR! Sounds so doomed. 😅
Darth Vader said it to Luke, and South Park used the same line in an episode with George Lucas.
😂😂 He either had a terrible fight with his lady before this video, or saw way too many beautiful options that he can no longer have. "It too late for him"

It brought me here, too. AI knows what is best for me, so thanks a lot. Philippine people are beautiful
What does being black have to do with it?
@@nyquil762 It's a perspective, take it or leave it, it's on you.
I married one of these Philippine women we live in the United States. I brought her here 10 years ago I’m in my mid 60’s. Unless you’re absolutely serious of having children with them stay single. Pay as you go with one of them in their country. It keeps all concerned less stressed. Your absolutely right with this advice with these Philippine women or any woman any where. Unless your goal is to have children with a woman stay single. Women if given the chance will spend their time trying to control you. I’ve spent a good bit of time in the Philippines both in the major cities and the provinces. A lot of the Philippines is subpar with infrastructure and in many ways. Good video champ you may have saved another guy a lot of grief. Believe me women are women the Philippine wife is my second wife the first from America. Believe me they over time all get the same.
You exposed her to feminism bro. Ty for your comment tho
So you married twice but you advice others to stay single
@@DimitriTheBarbarian He’s trying to warn them
@@investornabil8825he really can't control that, in America and elsewhere they'll get their mind twisted by feminism Hollywood movies and stupid talk shows.
🙂 i agree brother, its the same in latin america, same exact advice
For the first two years, do nothing that you can’t walk away from at a moments notice.
Do not commit to a woman or set yourself up where you feel obligated to anyone.
Only keep acquaintances, no friends till you have known him for at least a few years
Do not loan money or borrow money from anyone.
Understand you are on your own and you will have to figure things out on your own till you understand how “the game works” in that location.
And the biggie, have enough money saved and available so that you do not have to worry about money.
Facts!!!
Very good points, too bad a lot of fellows will not do this or follow this advice.
That’s one super honest man here!
He is soon right
Calvin's right guys. Live below your means. Decades ago, after my divorce, I chose to live way, way below my means and save and invest. I found I could still have fun on a tighter budget as there's many activities and hobbies that don't cost an arm and a leg. Here I am 30 years later, comfortably retired, living a level of freedom that can't be articulated, it has to be lived to be fully understood and appreciated.
I live in Mactan Newtown - on $1306/month SSI - with a 33 yo province girl as my living companion. Living like a native is not necessary - especially if you want to work out and swim with friends. Like Calvin said - we've got every concievable desire very close by - and am not plagued by barking dogs and crowing roosters. Safety is also nice - 24 hour building guards - tourist police office close by - and thousands of young beautiful women walking by everyday as they come and go from the Wnglish speaking call centers. Sirius/XM just opened up a call center here this week - Mactan Newtown is on fire right now.
$1,300???? Scares me!
@@thasarg4288 He might have more $$ and just living on his SS maybe not also. Mactan Newtown is a nice place, like he said it's on fire. Hope he has more than a one year lease because his rent is going up. Back when Gio was there for a year right after Covid, prices were a lot better but a different time.
I'm making my 2nd trip to the Philippines in December. I'm seriously going to take a look at Mactan.
How can you collect SSI while living abroad? Correct me if I'm wrong. Last time I checked, you cannot receive SSI payment if you're living outside the US.
@ huh?
You have such compassion in you voice. Well done my friend! Headed your way in 18 days. Going for 20 days to look around with some friends that already live there. I'm a 49yr old white male, divorced, recently broke up with GF, no house-job-pets and kids are grown; freedom :-) Looking forward to more solo adventures in SE Asia. Your thoughts directly align with my thoughts on how to wander the world in the short time we have here. "It's too late for me" is insightful but also hilarious :-) Thanks for taking the time to make the video. I have a tattoo on my arm that says "No Time Like The Present" with a pocket watch wrapped around the quote and initials of friends that died way too early. This is a constant reminder we do not know when we'll leave this earth. Just added two more names in October. Two more friends in their mid 50's had heart attacks and passed away. I have 10 names now...time to start living-dying. Good job Sunshine Shoulders!! Maybe we'll run into each other sometime. I'm looking at moving over when I turn 50 in July this year!!
Thank you so much for your feedback and support!
Sir, thank you. It’s not even the moving tips or advice. It’s just refreshing to see genuine human beings speaking truth to power. I always say “somebody gotta be the old heads! We are the old heads.” Thanks for leading these lost souls.
I respect this information and the honesty of this man.
THIS IS A GOOD MAN....LISTEN AND LISTEN CLOSELY TO HIM.....❤
64 here still in good shape. But I could not agree more with this awesome vid. Same deal. Big house in the country. Big fortress walls. Bored out of my mind. Big ass mistake. Not looking to party but want ocean, slimmer people, good food when I want... Oh this blog was spot on. Thank you... Listen retirees!!
Damn Bro Calvin with the truth bombs. He is so right about recreating the life you are leaving. Much respect.
Congratulations on the 60,000 subs continued success my friend. Thumbs up!
Good morning Cal, I would say you're 100% correct but I add that it applies to wherever you're at in this world.
Great advice man. I’ve been to the Philippines/Thailand 9 times between 2007-2016. I’m currently living/working in NY and I’m looking forward to getting the F out of here in early 2025. Heading to BGC for 6 months and I’ll take it from there. Have no desire to stay in the U.S. except to visit my parents.
I'm already settled overseas, it's been four years now and I'm loving it. For the first time in my life I feel alive.
@ .. I wish I made the transition 10 years ago. At that time, I did think about it but I was still in my 30s, I lived good, and I wasn’t ready yet.
Things have changed in the U.S. It’s just too toxic, especially politics. I don’t like the Democrats running for office nor do I like the Republicans. Just a miserable environment tbh
@@ajbucks politics here in PH is just as bad if not worse
@@LawrenceWeber-z5obut it doesn’t affect us the same and the propaganda machine is weak asf compared to what America has.
Cebu is better, but BGC is good!
The bubble life is great if you’re a city person, but that’s not for me. I’ll be investing in some quality noise canceling earbuds for those chickens, dogs and karaoke
u can live in subdivisions too.. in provinces. there are subdivisions.. gated and they have HOA so much less expensive than BUbble cities and very quiet as well... our place in CAvite called lancaster city has A looot of expat... just today i went to the groceries. man. there are a lot.. search for it LANCASTER NEW CITY... this place is a very huge subdivision in the province. its a mix of city and the province.. since its near the city. but philippines is like this, 1 hour to 2 hour away from metro manila it already feels like the province...
Don't forget the motor bikes!
Where U live now, do U have the kinds of noises that U intend to cancel? I don't see how U could do that.
Why not just locate to a rural area in US then?
This is your best video ever. You nailed it. Less is more. The only thing about this video that sucks is, those bubble cities won't last long... You Tube always destroys secret places... they go from secret special to expensive busy over night..
Because vloggers like him and on tik tok ruin it for everyone
Hey brother this video is right on time. I’ll be flying to Philippines on next week. There’s a flood in the Bicol Region-Naga City. Instead of fighting all the inconveniences that I would incur there I decided to get a condo in the BGC. I’m making plans to get a second condo so the family from the province can come meet me here. Due to flooding the roads in her area are closed and you have to use a railroad skate on part of the journey. I hope the family forgives me but I’m just not cut out at this age in my late 50’s to endure those conditions. Your video was a sign I made the right decision. It’s more expensive but comfort is everything. Money is a tool not something to be worshipped. Life is too short to not enjoy it. Thank you for this video.
HeyMopar, Naga City... you must watch the Fuentes Family channel, eh. Is that how you met your girl. Sounds like if you're worrying about what the family will think then Calvin's message is a little Late...jk. Did you meet your girl before arriving in PH or were you LDR? I'm curious, now that you heard Calvin suggest staying Single... how do you personally feel about that advice?
Oh yeah, how do you like the Naga area? I was thinking about going the to checkout all the places and people that Lorie highlights on their channel. Peace and Love, B Goat
YOU WILL REGRET ! AVOID AVOID AVOID SHITHOLES COUNTRY !
Calvin, you have a lot of great points but I just found out how important it is to have a Filipino family. I was involved in major motorcycle accident recently. If it wasn’t for my family, I have no idea what would have happened to me. I was basically incoherent when I arrived at the emergency room at the local public hospital. Eventually I was about to pass the hospital staff my families contact information. They took care of everything once they arrived and made sure I was transported to the right hospital. I would hate to think what would have happened without them. They were at my side 24/7 from the moment they arrived at the emergency room until I was discharged 12 days later.
Yup agree! I have a loving family with 6 daughters in Cordova, a poorer area with crime, only white guy for miles (never seen one!) I've never felt safer but I am always aware of my surroundings. My family is everything to me here. When I get sick they take care of me so well. Wouldn't want to live anywhere else.
Thanks for the heads up. Great content keep it comin.
You’re hitting the nail on the head.
I’ve been doing research for quite a while about where I should move to when I make that SRRV trip to the Philippines. And, at first, I wanted to find a rental near the beach/ocean. But, as time has gone on, I’ve come to realise that BGC is the best place for me. I can walk to every store and walk to every entertainment experience that I want/need. And, when I want to go back to the beach, I can just get a cheap Air BnB for a day or two and go. And have BGC as my main “hub”.
Thanks for the info Cal! Stay safe and keep spreading the Good News!
Great advice! And you are a great looking 61!!!!
I have been all over SE Asia for decades; all over the world for that matter. Understand there is no boast in the prior statement, simply the way life unfolded for me. Your overarching personal qualities, Calvin, is that you possess certain inalienable qualities that define who you are; you are honorable, truthful, concise, and quite specific. Thank you.
And you should see him walk on water!!

Moving around every 3 months ain't for everybody , some people , like me myself enjoy stability . I don't like packing up every few months. visiting a few places per year for a few weeks is ok , but I love having a home base where I spend most of my time .
These are suggestions. Thanks for watching.
Decluttering is freeing, you can use that freedom of mobility, once settled you will know the peril of accumulation . In the Phils there are no Joneses, services are cheap, and climate can wipe away your stuff at any time.
I did this for about 4 years. The longest I stayed in one place was Mexico for 4 months. I didn’t mind at the time but after coming to Thailand it feels good to have one place that’s “home”,
Great Advice I'm 31 and listening to every word!!!
Staying sane and single , with open communication i get exactly wht you're speaking about , im A widowed blk father , cov19 came took my wife and her twins whom were 12 @ the time wanted me to stay with me , so i adopted them , now their 16 almost college time and i do have a friend from school whom ive been seeing 3yrs now , and i love her but still a bit hesitant about the whole domestic process again , now i hear a topic like this and it sets my mind back a little further , so GOD PLEASE GUIDE ME
Sharing great information as usual. I keep my home in the U.S. as home base and travel to different countries. Rent fully furnished and stay from 1-3 month.
Very selective with who I choose to be with and it works well for me. Lots to see out there in the world.
Appreciate the advice always Cal. My favorite from you was the one about needing to have 2/3 minimum of the following to make it last here in PI. 1. Good girl 2. Good friends 3. Good hobbies or work to pass the time.
Truth!!!
Probably the best vlog youve done this year. I 100% percent agree with all your points. Its exactly how I live my life here.
Man you give some great information and its real and from the heart which means people should heed the advice.
I appreciate your insights and thoughts. No teacher like actual boots on the ground. I currently live in Chiang Mai Thailand but visit the Phils often. Good work you're doing.
The US is collapsing big time. Just appreciate what you have anywhere you go to ease any difficulty in life. Stay safe and stay alive. God is in control. ✌️
Even with all the bad things happening in the US, it is still a much better place to live than there, in some regards. Perhaps in a few years I won't be saying this.
America is not collapsing, dumb comment of the day
Don't worry, the US has gotten a temporary reprieve for the next 4 years and maybe longer. God hasn't given up on us yet.
Great advice as always Calvin. That hindsight fits my perspective 💯!! I reiterated the same message to my 35 yr old son. He's probably tired if hearing it all the time but he's listening and agreeing. Thanks again!!
Great video. I live in Spain. Not spaniard. Frequently traveling to Italy for work. Before when I was a kid I used to live in the north of Africa. I am 4o now. A place with a cool climate in the suburbs just outside a place like BGS that's close to nature and the beach is my ideal.

Brother Calvin Thank you ,I love you advice and I think excatly the same .I dont want lose my freedom on a land or a woman or kids ,...freedom is priceless .
Will be in the Philippines for the second time in December. Mactan is a consideration. Hua Hin Thailand is a strong contender as well. I loved it there and it's cheaper than the Philippines. But the Philippines is where English is widely spoken.
That area of Cebu is nice I must admit, we enjoyed our vacation there both times, my Asawa and I. We really enjoyed Plantation Bay resort, it was really cool
Bro Calvin I been going to the Philippines 26 yrs. I'm an old man now, I have lived a life their most men only dream of. It has really changed in 26 yrs.
Yup!!! I am of Filipino descent but born in New York City and a child of the 1980s; I first visited PH as a child(!) and talk about culture shock. The US was rich back then and I visited a very poor country and my mom who grew up poor wanted to show me where our people came from. It was humbling thats for sure. Since then Manila basically has been like Los Angeles, crowded and polluted and while parts of the PH are beautiful, its not for me. My late mom loved winters and snow and so do I LOL. Its still true the US dollar goes a long way there, but the materialism of many people in the PH bothers me.
You expect things to stay the same after 26 years 😂
Hell no back in 1999 Philippines was a floating ho now look at it young fuzzy wuzzy sales.
I've never been there, but I'm curious to know what's changed? What was it like back then versus now?
When I 1st visit the Philippines 1999 I would say 99% of the expats was senior citizens women was a dime a dozen, Philippines is not a poor country anymore, call centers, old men buying property, condo's, houses for their future his future is death at 70.
Your knowledge is invaluable to your viewers. Thank you
Respect to you brotha for finding your own piece of peace and paradise
Now this video was PERFECT! 100% PERFECT! Keep it up........
This probably the best advised I heard from you about coming to the Philippines. Good job mate!
I was thinking about this topic. Great information. Thanks for talking about this.
Seventh year in Philippines now married with 2 children and I like what you are saying. I was raised on a farm so we are farming here . my wife is a farmer so we both are not too big on traveling and resort hopping so I am lucky that way. But now in the processes of bringing my family to Canada for a while and lets see what happens ....

Calvin Sir you always cared and loved all of us ❤
I truly appreciate your transparency
Thank you for this! I’m about to move over and you’re addressing exactly what concerns me.
This is great advice anywhere, especially in the US. Men, stay single. If you get married, you are inviting the government into your bedroom. If you get divorced, which most likely will, rate is around 52% you are compromising your freedom, house, car, investment, and pensions. Is more of a headache. Women now days don’t care about marriage, use it to your advantage
get a prenup then

That is why i Live in Clark Freeport , 10 min from Brand New Clark International airport ,to fly anywhere in the world .
Of course I'm checking this place out from a lot of angles I was there 8 years ago in Cavite I found him to be very intriguing forthright but others have made it a little less inviting divulging aspect of poverty outside of those bubbles where Americans are sincerely hated and I thoroughly understand why no one appreciates people coming around taking their women
But yet my mind is still open if you'd interact with me I'd be grateful

You are a good man for offering this great advice, and I say this from experience 👍
Great points.makes a lot of sense. I like especially the moving around as I feel. I think many get caught up in a new life moreso than the details of the new life
Thank you for the VALUABLE advice Calvin my man.🤔👍🏾
The idea of moving around sounds attractive. But I have done it for work to a slight extent and I can tell you that living out of a suitcase and enduring the hell of modern airports and other types of travel every few months can get really tiresome after a while.
I travelled all around SE Asia with my Thai wife when I first came here at 50. Then I bought a house and took a part-time job teaching. We still continued to travel to new destinations but less frequently. Now I am 66, and she is 51 and done with travel. I make the occasional trip to meet up with friends or family out here in other parts of Asia, but there will inevitably become a time when you will want to hang up your boots.
This is the first time I saw your channel. I greatly appreciate the information and the value of wisdom. Knowing what someone considers mistakes as they look in the rear view mirror is greatly respected and appreciated.
This is really good advice that you are giving out! Thanks for keeping it real Calvin.
Good advice. I'd already arrived at the conclusion that I'm not going to the Philippines to find love, I'll want to explore and find the right place to call home.
Wow, Calvin!!. Thanks man right on time. Charlie from Boston I just got back watching you cause I’m coming to the Philippines in January for a few months. There are so many places I want to see in Southeast Asia. I have been attracted to BGC although I am flying into Cebu. I got a friend who invited me to Cebu. He said I could stay with him and his wife, but I’ll get a place of my own. I appreciate this video. I have been a widower three years going on 4. Of course I have been with women in America, Mexico, and Vietnam. I love woman, but to give up my solitude, totally would be a mistake. Thank you for these , sincere, brilliant words I’m gonna take your advice on this one. Thank you, great timing, Calvin🙏
It's never too late to make a change in my opinion Calvin. A good woman is priceless!!
Watch the video and you'll see what I'm talking about.
Finding a good women is the difficult thing.
In the Philippines it's not so difficult. It's one of the easiest things you'll have to do here.

I am still single at 70 and love Asian women!! Love your wisdom good brother; may God be with you and your awesome family and thank you for the priceless help and info. Larry nyc
Infrastructure in Cebu city was amazing. Been there twice and only experienced one brownout which lasted for about 30 seconds.
Totally agree on avoiding women with kids. Too many women without kids to choose from. But, not living with a woman is a tough one. It's just too tempting to do when you get a young gorgeous woman who is giving you sex on demand.
I don’t care about the sex on demand. It’s so easy to get from new women that keeping the same one in your place ain’t worth it. It’s about the other stuff on demand: massages, cooking, cleaning, taking care of red tape stuff, haggling prices for ya, etc. if all they brought was sex they’d have nothing to offer
@@eddiejohnson4434Problem with that is disease. As your N count increases, so does the likelihood of you catching something. Condoms don't stop herpes or warts and who wants to have to wear one every time they get down? Catching something is way less likely to happen if you have a solid relationship with someone who you properly vet over time and is actually loyal. And although I can't speak from directly experiencing myself since my N count is countable on 2 hands still and never traveled abroad yet, it seems to be a common theme in men's lives that have been there and done it all that they eventually burn out on running the field and just want someone solid and dependable they can come home to and share life with.
The grass always looks greener on the other side and life is always going to offer you competing conversations about how things could have turned out if you had done things differently. Successful people don't always make the right decisions, rather they make their decisions right. If you find yourself a good one and settle down and start a family, you're gonna be looking at the other guys having new novel experiences with different women every week. Then if you're the guy running the table and have a different girl for every occasion, you're going to start thinking about settling down and starting a family at some point. Damned if you do, damned if you don't. What really matters is no so much the choice you select, but rather what you choose to do with the selection you decided on once you've chose it.
If you somehow manage the perfect fantasy "have your cake and eat it too" situation of having the loyal main woman at home that cooks, cleans and takes care of the kids should you choose to have them and let's you go out and have fun with other women without becoming insanely jealous and conspiring against you secretly you still have to worry about the aforementioned diseases and bringing something back like that to your loving wife or getting another woman pregnant potentially.
So I'm not sure what the optimal solution here is. But I think there's something to be said about keeping the truly loving and loyal ones in your life. Its easy to find someone for the short term fun when things are good but a life long partner that will be there for you in the good times and the bad and stick by your side and has battle tested enduring loyalty you could bet your life on is very rare. So if you come into a situation where yoh know you have that and it has been proven then it would be foolish to give that up.
Thank you, Calvin. I genuinely believe this is your best video yet. The information you shared today will be incredibly beneficial for people like me. I have a condo in Manila, and my Filipina partner and I have been together for a couple of years now. I was considering building a beach house, but your insights will definitely impact my decision-making process. I would love to connect with you and discuss this further. I also have a video featuring the Black Filipino vlogger, which was a great experience during my visit. I wish I could have been in San Carlos to meet you in person!
That worries me, Calvin, when you say it’s too late for you. I genuinely feel really sad right now considering all the hard work and dedication you’ve put into your relationship, as well as the experiences you’ve had in your previous ones. I truly hope things improve for you.

Not a fan of Malaysia but all this living life traveling 2-3 months at a time makes a LOT of sense to me. I just got back from Da Nang and it is a beautiful place. I was also in TL and PH, it was a great trip. Thank you for the message Calvin, you always give me the info I need to deeply consider when I need to hear it.
