Excellent interview Alex. At 68 myself, I was wondering if I am just too old to retire to the Philippines alone. So I especially enjoyed and got value from this conversation. After two difficult and stressful marriages, and this along with 50 years living in New York City, and the last 17 in Israel..two places filled to the brim with, angry, triggered, and mostly unfriendly and entitled folks...I think I need a change. I KNOW I need a change. I am friendly, ultra polite/respectful, and as well, very much admire Philippine culture and people. I am a fish out of water here in Israel, seen as something of an anomaly, yet a perfect fit for the Phills. However, at 68, I wondered about my chances for a successful transition. Thanks to both of you fine gentlemen, I possess a degree of clarity I did not have previously, and hope as well. Now, I just have to get moving on my plans. All the best! 😊👍

@michaelh8167 Hey Michael. Sorry, even after 17 years here in Israel, my Hebrew is still quite poor. I hope I did not offend you, or anybody else for that matter. Many fine people here in Israel. Some of the best I've met anywhere. And also many good reasons to live here. My children are very happy here. It just simply doesn't work for me. I have a laid back, live and let live approach to life. I am polite and respectful to a fault. I find that here in Israel, this is often misinterpreted as weakness, and one is cast the frier. A sucker. Not something I wish for, so I maintain constant vigilance, and watch my back. Being a friendly and easy going guy, I find this posture tough to maintain, artificial, inauthentic, and ultimately, stressful. Not the way I wish to live any longer. And now that I am coming up on retirement, I don't need to. The Philippines has a vibe I really synch with. Polite, friendly, and respectful. Lots of genuine smiles. Plenty of laughter. And comraderie everywhere one turns. Anyways, that been my experience....and I like it! Once again, I humbly apologize if I offended you, or was otherwise unfair. Israel has much to recommend itself, and on so many levels. Just not a good fit for me. The Philippines really is. All the best Michael. Chag Sameach. Shana Tova achi.

This guys doing it right. Live your life. Be happy. Don't take responsibility for someone else. If you HAVE TO BE RESPONSIBLE, why allow someone else to make you responsible for them?
Im here in Baguio! You can make a good living with under 1000$. I’m around 800$ right now. Ordering food, using cabs, bringing your clothes to the laundry, eating out, going to the cinema, making trips in the area. I don’t have a car. If you like the beach, you can go for a little less than 5$ back and forth to la union in under than 3 hours. The only downside about Baguio is that you should have a dehumidifier especially in August when it’s very rainy. Otherwise you might risk mold.
Hey just wanted to say that your interviewing abilities have improved greatly from your earlier videos. Keep up the great work finding and interviewing interesting people. 😊
Enjoyed this interview. I am also in my 80s and my Filipina wife wife of 8 years is in her 50s. Filipinas, for the most part, remain immature for their entire life with most receiving no college education. I too, am enjoyng a healthy active life. People actually think that I am in my 60s (it is a genetic thing). Everyone has a different life story regardless of where they are living. I am basically a happy grounded and positive person but, unlike this gentleman, I am an activist. I can not ignore the way most Filipinos are treated by their employers and the government. It causes me to have to bite my tongue or become a target! It is a dictorial society! Also, for those in a relationship, whether married or not, must either swallow or fight The Primal Tribal Custom of supporting their families financially. This custom has caused many ExPats to go broke even before they know what happened. Don't let the woman manage your money nor add them to your primary bank account. The cost of living is quite favorable but, most women will tell you that they love you in hope of getting to the USA. For most women, that is their tunnel vision main goal in life!
The dictatorial element in the way civilian Philippines is run was inherited from the American Military. It is a model and they love it. It works anyway. Filipinas being immature for life is a correct statement, regardless of whether they are educated to a decent level or not, it is cultural and it is due to the fact that they like being distracted by tonnes of things at the same time and having their lives completely out of whack and all the time.
Supporting her entire family while they laugh about it is a deal breaker. Only a weak simp beta male would agree to that. Plenty of easy Pinay Pussy about so no need to support 20 people to get access to it!
I am very sorry to say that Ian recently passed away here in Cebu City due to Prostate cancer. His life was quite remarkable in terms of his video work, traveling the world as a news cameraman & later focusing on his UA-cam Channel, he really never stopped filming. This guys doing it right. Live your life. Be happy. Don't take responsibility for someone else. If you HAVE TO BE RESPONSIBLE, why allow someone else to make you responsible for them?
This man looks so alive! Healthy mind, healthy body, how can’t he not live over a hundred. Hope he does!
Wow where is the link to this guy's channel? I bet it is a hoot!
Best part of this interview is:
1:55 and 4:35 WOW 🤩
Outstanding! His the Man!
Dirty old geezer… still a legend 😂💪
Im here in Baguio! You can make a good living with under 1000$. I’m around 800$ right now. Ordering food, using cabs, bringing your clothes to the laundry, eating out, going to the cinema, making trips in the area. I don’t have a car.
If you like the beach, you can go for a little less than 5$ back and forth to la union in under than 3 hours.
The only downside about Baguio is that you should have a dehumidifier especially in August when it’s very rainy. Otherwise you might risk mold.
Thank you for the advice!!
Good storyline enjoyed it. Thanks brother.

Thank you for sharing
The dictatorial element in the way civilian Philippines is run was inherited from the American Military. It is a model and they love it. It works anyway.
Filipinas being immature for life is a correct statement, regardless of whether they are educated to a decent level or not, it is cultural and it is due to the fact that they like being distracted by tonnes of things at the same time and having their lives completely out of whack and all the time.
ha ha ha ! TRUE! Mass disorder with no strict financial budget nor planning! Pawn Shops strive! @@AdamSahr-cj4kf
Supporting her entire family while they laugh about it is a deal breaker. Only a weak simp beta male would agree to that. Plenty of easy Pinay Pussy about so no need to support 20 people to get access to it!
Maybe in country like phil. Many asian countries dont really dont bother you are foreigner anymore. Locals are better
Great video, he reminds me of my dad,
Great story...thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching!
Have him back! Great interview!
Crazy! I’m already subscribed to the guy.
Wow! Awesome 🥳
He is 87, and living is the best life in the Philippines.❤❤
I am very sorry to say that Ian recently passed away here in Cebu City due to Prostate cancer. His life was quite remarkable in terms of his video work, traveling the world as a news cameraman & later focusing on his UA-cam Channel, he really never stopped filming. I will miss that canny Scots humour. RIP dear Ian.
Tha k you for the update. May he rest in peace. I'll share the news on the channel
Nice job Alex!!!
