Edit: ALL HAIL THE ALLMIGHTY UNDERGROUND PIPE, THE GREAT ENABLER OF SPAGHETTI! You can hit "H" and "V" to flip a lot of structures, like oil refineries, and it actually also flips the inputs/outputs (H for horizontal, V for vertical). Unfortunately you can't flip spaceship thrusters but most other things you can flip.
You didn’t even get the full performance out of the tank, the tank is very slow, but if you put rocket fuel in the tank (which is pretty east to make) it fixes thwt problem.
Your northern front seems to have a really big cliff that you could make use of as natural wall, only filling in the gaps. West will have to be a Great Wall though.
Anyways I agree with the others, just take this game one step at a time and it's quite satisfying to see what you've accomplished 20 hours in. I still feel These types of games are the most rewarding. Lots of problem solving xp.
Trust me, when I say that he is playing the game his way, even if that way will couse him problems. The most interesting thing he does are probebly the asemblers arrays, where each has asembear one pole in between them, that use a lot of space and most of is gose to waste and that also means more belts are necasarie to go places, but the extra space could be handy if he when he would need to route a new belt through production lines, a benefite that kinda useless, because he also makes a huge buses and those will make it very easy to route belts. Please tell that your are not sarcastic.
Also, your perimeter wall is kinda separated, so if you'd like to make drones automaticly repair the walls I would recommend you to make a train to carry repair packs and bullets to the front line (You can use wire signals to turn on the stations only when they are low on something)
Hey Kibs, I’m really enjoying this series! I noticed in a couple places like at your red circuit area, you have an iron & steel belt that is side-loading onto another belt to put iron on one side of that belt in a couple places. FYI, that is a very risky way to accomplish that, because if the iron supply ever runs low you will get steel filling in any gaps, or even completely flooding that belt, preventing it from automatically recovering when the iron supply resumes! You can avoid that problem by using an inserter or splitter with a filter set. A filtered splitter could separate the iron plate onto a different belt which you could then safely side-load. Or a filtered fast inserter could pick up just iron plate and place that on a small belt which you could then do the same thing with.
Oh that’s actually kinda smart using the advanced recipes to make the petroleum gas. My dumpster fire of a factory just added more buildings. I ended up with so much gas it back up my systems and my solution was to yet again add more buildings this time storage
Oh yeah it makes it all a lot more flexible. Just more byproducts to consume to stop things from backing up if you have light and heavy oil to contend with. Though i believe making your excess all turn into petro gas solves much that issue. Dont quote me on that though i havent played in a couple months so im not the greatest source of information 😂
Watching you not only learn the basics of Factorio but also stumble through the new DLC is and is going to be amazing. Enjoying both this and Satisfactory.
I would recomand to have more batteries than solar because I think you get more power output per slot from batteries than solar. I had 6 shields 12 solar and 4 or 6 batteries
From my experience when you are in battle you need bigger power output that power generation that's because you need your shields to recharge at max speed
Blue Science means NUCLEAR POWER! (you don't need kovarex processing, you'll mine enough U-235 from a single patch to make fuel cells for at least 4 reactors)
Press R on a building to rotate it. You can also do this from the map view. You will need this info. Wires can also be placed without you being there. Theres a lot of map integration now actually.
It is really interesting seeing you have fun exploring this game! A professional newcommer to the game! It will be interesting to see your designs evolve once you hit the blueprint and robot stage! :D
artillery trains. you can have rail cannons pelt bases from trains quite a far distance away. and you can just have like 30 guns attached to one train.
For future reference when fighting spitters on foot: You accelerate to max speed in a single frame on foot, so if you jiggle, (A,D,A,D really fast) the spitters will never be on target. (This was possible before Space Age, unsure about current build)
Watching him deal with advanced oil refining is both refreshing and infuriating at the same time. Not knowing the simple solutions and "meta" layouts leads to such interesting designs!
Tanks equipment grids are cool, but one of the really neat things about tanks with this expansion is... well, click on one in map view and check out the little green button that pops up. :3
You can save yourself some power poles by putting your chemical plants in pairs of two before putting a gap between them. That gap can hold a power pole and even a light!
Watching him run past all the damaged buildings just hurts my soul. Sure it doesn't really matter but my OCD demands everything be topped up. Edit: And he's carrying around iron ore in his pocket AHHHHH
Trust me, solar is not as good as it would usually seem. It takes more space and uses more advanced resources while not being more efficient. In my experience coal and oil end up so over-abundant as you go further into research, that it's a no-brainer to use them as the major electricity sources. Especially since they take up less space and use way less resources.
Solar is more ups friendly and much more usefull in space age. You need solars on space platforms and on Volcanus it's a great source of energy. On Nauvis space is not an issue. IMO the best option is to dtich steam power for solar, and then add up nuclear.
@@silvk1000yes solar is useful but it takes up a lot of space I usually build 1 steam power setup as a backup though. Just Incase I mess up and need more solar panels because I'm using more power than the accumulaters can store. I don't get rid of the steam power until I get nuclear power.
Besides now that quality is a thing. You should be able to get insane amounts of production with high quality assemblers and the stack inserters. It kinda makes me wonder how much more production that would add for your run of the mill megabase.
Well, electric furnace is not so good idea for mass production. Coal->electric->heat energy loss is massive. It becomes useful when you start a Nuclear power.
The lack of optimisation hurts so much, like it’s 6 red circuit buildings per green circuit building. You also can use two pipe assemblers and one gear assembler for 20 engine assemblers. Doing this will likely reduce power draw overall
Honestly, shields are probably the worst thing to put into the tank since it already has big health. Try legs and a roboport for a fast tank that repairs stuff. You'll really want that if you go off planet since you can remote control it to get rid of that lolrandomly spawned worm that outranges your turrets.

I completely forgot that they added that. That's going to make oil so much easier and compact.

You no longer need rocket fuel for tanks. Exoskeletons work in them now. FAST!

@@walterroche8192 YEAH BUT I PREFER THE SPACE FOR LASERS. PARDON CAPS FORGOT CAPS LOCK.

Helpful tip you can now flip buildings like refineries and chemical plants with h and v with that you can have some neat fluids output
i dont think i could ever play this game myself but its very entertaining to watch an expert such as yourself
Trust me bro it’s pretty easy if you play the tutorial first and go at your own pace.
i would say that first experience is better only on solo. Multiplayer ruins the pacing and progression if playing for first time.
