On a car the intercooler doesn’t need fans because of the breeze Most cars have small intercoolers. Prolonged fast driving like on track you’d get the larger one like the one shown in the video Some rally cars spray water on the intercooler
fr, It's isn't that bad on the turbo unless you're still ON throttle, if letting go and it does the flutter that's just air getting cut up by the turbo turbine blades.
Awesome to see this product on the channel! I know an early investor of this company. He had 2 of those installed in his v8 Maserati Granturismo which I had to remove when he sold the car. Two of these turbos were made to fit in a custom carbon piece attached to the airfilter box.
@carltonleboss but you need the ecu and wiring for the new engine which would be the motherboard around it. Usually you put in the transmission that matches the new engine so that could be the gpu. 8:11 just note, this depends on your setup. People do this on purpose quite a bit to make this sound. Buses in my area don't have blow off valves so its a very low tone TU-TU-TU-TU sound. Some people would even argue that if you do it right, it doesn't hurt the turbo. I dont necessarily align with those views, but still.
id guess the buses dont have a blow off valve because they are diesel. big diesel trucks usually don't have blow off valves and they boost up to 50 psi sometimes
Now we're definitely gonna need a sequel where the whole thing gets installed inside a desktop and the turbo fires automatically when the GPU gets hot enough.
8:55 that's a common myth about having no blow off valve. In reality myself and loads of other people run without blow off valves for years on various cars and have never ever had any damage to turbos. It can actually improve throttle response when you get back on throttle because you didn't just dump all of the already compressed air out of the system
Correct. Compressor surge is only really an issue if it's happening under load for a sustained period, meaning the pressure ratio and flow rate is too high for the engine and the boost is flowing back through the compressor wheel causing some really violent shock load.
What? Nah it won't dump air out. Most of them on a stock car are electric and ECU controlled and fully closed when there's nothing to dump. Even aftermarket builds use electric ones cause you gain much better control
@tomcraftdonkey2285 BOV's were always plumb back from factory for emissions reasons, and so the ECU was not seeing air flow via the MAF during decel. However aftermarket manufacturers found that vented BOV's made cool noises when vented to atmosphere so they made vented BOV's.
As a master automotive tech and race tech i just want to clarify compressor surge during boost build is bad, its completly fine when your of the accelerator. its a common myth that has been proven yet and yet again. loved the video :)

This is a good idea and I hope they address it!
Its a good idea, hope it does not create too much of a low pressure tho, as low pressure (low density) air cools less.
Depending on the negative pressure, the fan in the laptop might get f'd or run so fast that it will melt.
But you can only suck up to 1 atmosphere suction. You can blow with many atmospheres of pressure. Therefore blowing can get much higher airflow.
That wastes most of the power. The solution is just to use intercooler

Pulled this video up while working on my MK8 GTI was a pleasant surprise. Have fun with the Intercooler install, Alex!
8:11 just note, this depends on your setup. People do this on purpose quite a bit to make this sound. Buses in my area don't have blow off valves so its a very low tone TU-TU-TU-TU sound. Some people would even argue that if you do it right, it doesn't hurt the turbo. I dont necessarily align with those views, but still.
in low buget rally cars a lot of times they will remove the blow off valve to mantain a bit of boost when you let out the gas
id guess the buses dont have a blow off valve because they are diesel. big diesel trucks usually don't have blow off valves and they boost up to 50 psi sometimes
@@martux6815 yes
@@squidwardo7074 thats what i was thinking too.
17:00 open the two air valves into two big weather balloons... not only to prevent over pressurization but also to vent excess air into storage.
And help china!! 😅😅
00:48 The blurbs are back!! ❤❤
😊😊😊😊
Alex’s excitement for these type of videos always gets me lol. Keep up the crazy experiments lol
So then why do blow of valves exist?
What? Nah it won't dump air out. Most of them on a stock car are electric and ECU controlled and fully closed when there's nothing to dump.
Even aftermarket builds use electric ones cause you gain much better control
@@DxCBuG most cars use a DV
@tomcraftdonkey2285 BOV's were always plumb back from factory for emissions reasons, and so the ECU was not seeing air flow via the MAF during decel. However aftermarket manufacturers found that vented BOV's made cool noises when vented to atmosphere so they made vented BOV's.
7:53 Linus looks so intrigued
As a master automotive tech and race tech i just want to clarify compressor surge during boost build is bad, its completly fine when your of the accelerator. its a common myth that has been proven yet and yet again.
loved the video :)
