Great video. Gave me the confidence to swap out my own engine. Only got 7 yrs out this kholer, SMH. That spindle bolt, wow what a sob to get off. I had to go out and buy a breaker bar. That bolt was that hardest part of the job for anyone else looking to do this. The rest was pretty plug and play.
I have a cub cadet exactly like it but this one had a kohler pro 7000 series on it and low and behold the people i got it from ran it without oil and the piston basically weleded itself to the cylinder. And as bad as i hate to do it im replacing it with a kohler courage 20hp that i had laying around. Kohlers like the kohler pro and kohler command are damn good engines but the kohler courage were basically trash more of a temporary engine in my experience lol and of course im putting one on this mower. 😮
Hate to see a Kohler fail. Have an Ariens tractor from 1977 with the original Kohler 16HP in it. Runs great. Just bought this same lawn tractor for 150 with a hole in the block, new briggs incoming.

an air impact wrench is helpful with the spindle bolt I have since discovered!

I have another Kohler on a Toro Zero turn we are getting ready to replace. Same issue burning lots of oil.
What's with these scrub cadet with their signature cuts I don't really think they cut that nice they use the word signature to make it sound good
Briggs intek is Also junk!
I hope I have better luck than that Kohler I miss the engines that were bullet proff.
