Dxlevel 81 may make you to run smoother, but it doesn’t alow you to see outlines for the bomb in mvm, the intel in ctf or outlines for your sticky’s if your using the Scottish resistance

Should be noted that the ONLY way to reset tf2 back to the prepackaged config settings is by removing the CFG folder, removing all launch options and adding the launch option "-autoconfig " into them, and finally restarting your game. After the initial startup make sure to clear your launch options as to prevent settings being reverted on start up each time. Another handy thing to know is that by typing a command into the in-game console without assigning a value to it, you can check for the current value as well as the default value of the command. For instance, fov_desired has a default value of 70, and a maximum value of 90.

These options are literally saving me right now. My laptop died. My roommates is not a high end gaming laptop. I'm getting 20ish fps on it. On mine I was getting 60+ Her 20fps is still better than no fps at all, though lol

There is actually no frame rate difference from 81 to 90 this got changed. There’s a post of TFTV about it with benchmarks and stuff, I’ll post it when I get home from school
I remember a youtuber showing a great video on how he got TF2 to look so good. Aside form effects mod there was one where he disabled some effect on the players that made them look more pale but more visible at a distance. Wish I remembered the video or the command. edit: I found the command: mat_phong 0 Basically makes them less bright, slightly better performance and everyone looks like the TF2 beta trailer.

The problem that I have is that I have a high end computer, but the game runs like crap and the lighting changes from super dark to super bright depending on which angle I look at. Do I need to fix my PC or is it the game that needs a fix? I've reinstalled the game like 6 times and it doesn't help.
dxlevel 80 or dxlevel 81 just fucks up my game, and any server I join the loading stops. it says it's loading but really it isn't, the game doesn't stop responding but it just won't load.

I downloaded a woolen sleevet's config but he got alot of those moyse3 4 and 5 stuff. he also got specific things for each class and i just want it like it used to. ( downloaded it since i thought his game looked cool and his hitsounds/croshair.
I'm probably super late If you somehow still have this problem Try setting it to 16:9, then type host_writeconfig into console. And of course delete the config files

I use configs yet i get 10 FPS after Jungle Inferno update, before i got 35. and yes, i didn't forget about dxlevel 81.
jungle inferno fucked my frames too, i was able to fix it by using some optimizations from the mastercomfig

sounds like you need to have it plugged in, make sure the vents aren't covered, and (potentially) improve the cooling yourself, but that's not free
Perhaps buy an external cooler for your laptop. It rests on top of it. Plug the usb in and the fans cool it down

Why don’t launch options and configs work for me? Whenever I install them they never load and just go back to normal when I launch the game.
This can be changed in the properties options, in the tf2 file location
