    I always stay ready. I cook 80% of my meals in my house on my two, gas one stove. I just love to cook in my shop on my stainless tables. I prefer the butane cans. They are so simple to use. They might not burn quite as hot, but I'm not looking to save 30 seconds. The propane is a pain in the ass to hook up with the hoses and unhook. The butane can I just leave in the stove and unlock it. I could cook on the stove for the rest of my life and never miss a beat. These are a must have.

    I recently pulled out of storage my parent's old tailgating stove. It is basically the same design as this, but no windscreen and no propane adapter. I used it on a camping trip and it worked GREAT on the butane. The original warranty card was still in the carrying case and it was hand-filled in by my mom - in 1991! This design has been around for a while.

    Great review. All I'd add is that when using the propane, bring the hose through the hole on the opposite side, so you can close the lid to the fuel compartment.

    Think you should have fed the propane hose through the hole at the back of the gas cooker, then the lid will fold back over !

    I have the lower 8000 btu model and it took just under 4 minutes to boil 2 cups at 5000ft elevation. This was on propane.

    Thankyou so much.Im living out of my car and I have the 2 burner coleman stove.Its so bulky lugging it around and I didn't quite understand about butane stoves.
    I've been doing my research and it'll be cold here shortly in Dallas so I probably wouldn't be able to use the Butane that much.
    I guess thats the beauty of a dual fuel stove. Thanks for explaining everything in depth.😊❤

    Just got one and they replaced the hose that people would burn by having it on hot metal, with an all metal tube type with regulator. It's great now. Heavy duty and I'm impressed.

    Very good video. I just subscribed I liked the way you talk.
    I just ordered one about 15 min ago from Amazon.
    I wanted the 15000 BTU so I can deep fry fish while fishing on the river with grands.
    Also see it being great to deep fry fries and hush puppy’s while frying fish at home in my larger cast iron deep fryer.
    We love to catch and eat.
    Again, love your videos.
    Thanks
    Terry in Georgia

      I actually returned the Gas One. I ordered the 12000 BTU Grill Boss, first. After watching your video and a couple more, I ordered the Gas One with the intention of returning the Grill Boss. However, Amazon said the GB was a non returnable item. So when the Gas One was delivered, I refused to accept from UPS. Amazon did return my money.
      I have cooked on the Grill Boss twice, and am very happy. Fried Cod last night and was delicious.
      So, that is my story.

    Great video. We purchased this same stove and have used it with propane for the most part. Recently, we installed the propane cylinder and propane began to hiss out the hose with a noticeable propane smell. We tried again with another propane cylinder and had the same issue. Presuming a faulty hose - any thoughts on that? We've used it on a few camping trips and treat it very gently - wondering if tightly folding the hose up to fit in the side space after each use has resulted in damage? Thanks again.

      The newest version of this stove ships with a 'solid' metal tube to connect the propane tank. Perhaps there were too many issues in the past with the flexible hose.

    I ordered one a couple years ago and just tried to use the propane adapter but they sent me the wrong one. I contacted customer service and the hose I needed is discontinued. But what’s dumb is they never included the right one in the first place lol.

      I believe that stove now ships with a ridged hose propane adapter instead of the flexible house as shown in my review.

    IS THERE A CAP THAT HAS TO BE UNSCREWED AND REMOVED ON THE STOVE BEFORE ATTACHING THE HOSE SO THE PROPANE

    • @TheOneCanoe
      @TheOneCanoe  3 місяці тому

      No, at least there was no cap on my stove. There is just a small threaded brass connection that the propane hose threads onto.

    The new version I see on Amazon apparently ditched the hose and uses a typical propane adaptor?Or am I seeing things?

    • @TheOneCanoe
      @TheOneCanoe  2 роки тому

      Yes, I see the short metal propane adapter as well. I bought my stove from Amazon, but that was about 10 months ago and it came with the flexible hose. Not really sure why they switched to the smaller, metal tube?

    • @kitty4536
      @kitty4536 2 роки тому

      The older flexible version has a lot of problems based on the review. I am glad they replaced it with a "standard" metal version. Hope this helps. I have been eyeing the dual fuel stove for a long time but didn't buy it because of the faulty regulator issue w/ the old version.

    For the people that own this exact stove, GS-3900PB, do the built-in wind guards actually work or do you still need a windscreen? I have a feeling they may help on slight breeze type days, but I'm guessing you probably need a real wind screen?

    • @TheOneCanoe
      @TheOneCanoe  Рік тому +2

      In high winds you would definitely need some sort of barrier/wind screen with this stove.

    Is this honestly 15,000 I have seen the stove looking exactly the same saying it's only 11,000? I have no idea how to measure it, I only know I was told to get at least 15,000 for true cooking while traveling the road. I can't even find this model anywhere online-but amazon and Gas One website Home depot has it but it says only 11,000 btu? I know the gray one is marked 9 or 10 thousand but I specifically got it because it said 15,000 and of course it's non returnable even if unopened? I just bought it on amazon and it won't let me cancel and I can't return. Is there a way to measure to make sure it's up at that 15,000 level as I don't put it beyond the makers to just lie about it since many of the sellers lie about everything. Thanks for any help from anyone. And yeah I am a newbie to outdoor camping at least since I was a kid in the early 70's....lol

    You should know that you save energy (gas) if you put the lid on.

    • @TheOneCanoe
      @TheOneCanoe  11 місяців тому +2

      You are correct, but this was not a “cooking demonstration” video. In order to test the “boil time” for the two different gasses, I had to have lids removed so that I could observe when the first boiling bubbles began.

    Can you disconnect the butane or propane bottle after a cooking session??? This was not explained in the video.

    • @TheOneCanoe
      @TheOneCanoe  Рік тому +1

      Yes, as with any type of cook stove, bbq, heater, lantern etc. the fuel source ( butane, propane etc) can always be ‘unhooked’ stored and used another time assuming there is still fuel in the cylinder.

    • @rogercotman1314
      @rogercotman1314 Рік тому

    Propane in the long run is a bad investment. I’m my experience the Iwatani EPR-A cassette style burner has the best output/fuel consumption ratio. But as a drawback it isn’t as sturdy of a unit to support heavier pans.
